SPENCER'S P.O.V
"Hey"
LA's meant to be a big city but it's starting to feel like a small town.
"Hey Michelle"
I'm pretty relieved she's not with Glen.
"Sorry these are my parents Peter and Kathy"
"Hi it's nice to meet you"
I reach out and shake both of their hands.
"This is Glen's sister Spencer"
"Sister?"
"Yer..."
I'm not surprised I've never been mentioned.
"And this is her girlfriend Ashley"
It's a little weird hearing Ashley being introduced as my girlfriend.
"Hi it's nice to meet you"
I watch Ashley as she shakes both of their hands.
"I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude but we really need to get going"
She's sweet.
"It was nice meeting you both"
"You to Kathy"
I've only just met her parents, but I can already tell this family's way too nice to be getting involved with mine.
"Bye honey"
"Bye mum"
When they leave she turns so she's facing us.
"Hey"
The more I see her the less awkward these little run ins become.
"Hi"
She looks nervous.
"Spencer your brother and your mum are inside and they're probably going to walk out here any second"
When she says that my heart starts racing.
"Michelle why are you telling me that?"
"I just think you deserve the chance to escape if that's what you want to do"
I'll never understand why she's settling for someone like Glen.
"We should probably get going anyway"
I turn so I'm facing Ashley.
"Are you ready Ash?"
"Yer"
"Spencer?"
When I hear his voice, I know even before I turn around, that she's going to be standing there as well.
"Ash i'm going to get in early and apologise for dragging you into this mess"
When I turn around they're both standing there.
"Hey..."
She hasn't changed one bit.
She looks exactly the same as she did when I saw her last.
"Glen said you were in town"
"That doesn't surprise me Glen has a big fucking mouth"
She's with some guy I've never seen before.
I'm guessing he's either the boyfriend or the husband.
"You look great"
I've always wondered what it would be like if I ever saw her again.
I guess I don't have to wonder anymore.
"It's been a long time..."
"Not long enough"
I could quite easily have gone on living my life like she didn't exist.
"Spencer I'm sorry for..."
"Don't"
I don't want to hear her bullshit apology.
"We were just going"
"Spencer please?"
"I'm not interested..."
She's so fake.
"You're a bitch and there's nothing that you can say or do that will convince me otherwise"
"Spencer are you really just going to go on living your life like we don't exist?"
"Yep that's exactly what I'm going to do"
I've managed fine without them for this long.
"We're family Spencer and that's never going to change"

She's unbelievable.
"Spencer you have every right to be upset"
I look over at the guy she's standing with.
"Sorry this is my husband Lance..."
What kind of name's Lance?
"Lance this is my daughter Spencer"
"Hi it's nice to meet you..."
When he holds his hand out I don't shake it.
"I've heard a lot about you"
I watch him as he slips his hands back into his pockets.
"Your name's Lance?
"Spencer?"
"Are you really going to tell me off for being rude?"
There's a long pause before anyone says anything.
"I feel sorry for you Lance"
He looks really uncomfortable.
"Your wife's a cunt"
"Spencer?"
"Oh I'm sorry Glen did I insult mother dearest?"
He's such a loser.
"Spencer it doesn't have to be like this"
"You two made it like this..."
"We're trying to apologise"
He can't be serious.
"So what you tell me you're sorry and I'm meant to just forget everything you did?"
"Spencer just hear us out?"
"Did you stop and listen to me when I asked you to?"
He doesn't say anything.
"I fucking begged you Glen and you still didn't listen"
"Spencer I'm not that person anymore"

There's a long pause before anyone says anything.
"Spencer we all made mistakes back then..."
"My only mistake was caring what you thought about me"
When I try to walk past her she grabs onto my arm.
"Spencer please?"
"Forget you saw me here"
I yank my arm away and start walking down the street.
"Are you alright Spence?"
"Yer"
I stop walking when I turn the corner.
"Come here"
I start smiling when she pulls me in for a hug.
"Do you want to go somewhere and talk about it"
She's sweet but I really just want to forget it even happened.
"No let's go have that hot make up sex you owe me"
When I say that she starts laughing.
"You're lucky I think you're cute"
She leans forward brushing her lips against mine.
"Mum I just need some space so I'm going to come crash at yours"
She's on her phone so she hasn't noticed us yet.
"Mum I'll call you back"
Now she has.
"Sorry I'm honestly not stalking you"
She's pointing.
"My parents house is this way"
"You live with your parents?"
"No I live with Glen but..."

Okay.
"He's making you walk home?"
He's such an ass.
"No I told him I wanted space"
"Fair enough"
There's a long awkward silence before she says anything.
"This might sound ridiculous but do you two want to come for a drink?"
"We ahhhh..."
"Spencer you don't need to explain yourself it's fine..."
I look over at Ashley.
"I have a perfectly good loft that's full of alcohol?"
That's a brilliant idea.
"Spencer?"
I don't mind.
"I could use a drink"
When I say that she starts smiling.
"Lead the way"
