SPENCER'S P.O.V
"Spencer?"
This is my childhood home.
This is the house I'm meant to treasure.
The house that's meant to hold all of my fondest memories.
"Can we come in?"
"Of course"
When she holds the door back we both walk inside.
"Spencer?"
It's that Lance guy.
"Hi"
I'm not interested in getting to know him.
But I can't just ignore him either.
"Hi"
I feel like I'm a gorilla at the zoo, they're both staring.
"Spencer I'm really glad you're here"
All the things I've spent years trying to forget are rushing back.
"You said you wanted to talk?"
"I do"
When I look over at Ashley, she smiles.
I am so glad she's here.
"Do you want to sit?"
There's a photo of me on the table by the door.
"No…"
"Do you remember that day?"
I reach out and move the photo so it's lying face down.
"I do"
When I look back over at her I notice another photo on the wall.
"So how are you feeling?"
The photos are making my blood boil.
"I shouldn't have come here…"
I've bitten off more than I can chew.
"Spencer please?"
I'm in over my head.
"Paula I lost both my parents in High School"
I can't stop staring at that photo.
It's just the two of us, she has her arm wrapped around me, we're smiling.
I remember that day like it was yesterday.
Dad took that photo.
"One was this really sweet, kind man that would have done anything for his kids"
He never judged me.
He never tried to change me.
"The other was a heartless bitch"
When I knock the photo off the wall it shatters.
"Paula I've been hiding from this city for years and if I hadn't of met Ashley, I'd still be hiding now"
Her face is blank.
"But I'm done hiding and I'm done dwelling on the past"
There's glass all over the floor.
"You never gave me a chance and you never stopped to ask if I was okay"
I'll never forget the way she treated me.
She was horrible.
"I disgusted you and you made it very clear that you wanted nothing to do with me, so this is me returning the favour"
I'm done.
"I want nothing to do with any of you, so get rid of all the fucking photos and forget I exist"
I can see the tears building up in her eyes.
"Because Paula I will never forgive you for the way you've treated me"
I'm moving on and she isn't coming with me.
"Spencer please?"
When I look over at Ashley I force a smile.
"Let's get out of here Ash..."
There's nothing else to say.
"Okay"
When I look back over to where they're standing, she's crying.
"Wipe away the crocodile tears Paula..."
She brought this all on herself.
"You've been doing just fine without me and you'll keep doing just fine without me"
When I start walking, Ashley follows.
"Are you okay Spence?"
We're nearly at her car.
"Yer"
I'm so sick of this stupid crutch.
I can stand without it.
"Ash we're getting rid of this..."
When I pass her the crutch, she laughs.
"And that was very therapeutic"
I'm nodding at the house.
"Can we get pizza for dinner?"
My new life starts now.
No more running.
No more hiding.
"Spence we can have whatever you want"
She's grinning.
"SPENCER?"
I'm not turning around.
"SPENCER PLEASE?"
Why does she keep following me?
"Please?"
She's moved so she's standing in front of me.
"Spencer I was a horrible mother and I wish I could justify the way I've acted, but I can't"
Her eyes are all red and puffy.
"You didn't deserve to be treated the way I've treated you and if I could go back and have my time again, I would"
It's too late for that.
"Spencer I can't change anything that's already happened and you're right I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I'm never going to give up..."
Her eyes are locked on mine.
"I want my daughter back..."
"It's been six years and you've never tried to contact me?"
"I had no idea where you were"
"You've never bothered to look"
"I didn't think you'd want anything to do with me"
"You were right Paula..."
We're leaving.
"I don't want anything to do with you"
This is it for us.
"I came back here for Ashley and I'm going to keep coming back here for her"
I don't want anything to do with her.
"But we're dead to each other Paula and that's never going to change"
She stopped being a part of my life a long time ago.
"So stop trying to fix what can't be fixed"
When I turn around, I smile at Ashley.
"Let's get out of here Ash..."
She's perfect.
"I'm starving"
