After a minute, which felt like an eternity, Dean made a move towards the door.
"You guys clearly have something that needs working out, and I am gonna go check on Sammy..."
He trailed off backing away as Hermione glared at him, obviously not wanting to be left alone with the redhead. Exiting the motel he followed the doors checking the numbers until he came to Hermione's, chuckling when he noticed that the Impala was parked opposite. The curtains were shut tight, and he didn't know how the door would work as it was controlled by Hermione's magic. He knew that Sam would probably not answer the door, so he dug into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
The phone rang for two bleeps, then three, then Dean started to get worried. Why wasn't Sam answering his phone, they always kept them on for emergencies and very few people knew the number, that way if the phone rang they would know it was important. When he got to the sixth bleep he hung up and banged his fist on the door loudly, with three loud thumps. There was no immediate answer so he pressed his ear up against the door listening for any sign of movement. When he was sure that he could not hear anything from inside and he had tried Sam's mobile again he was sufficiently worried, he tried a final time to knock on the door to no avail. At this point he decided that he had no other choice than to break down the door. He took a step back, centring is weight and kicked out with his right leg, half expecting the door to withstand his action. A satisfying crack blew that theory apart as the door caved in for Dean to rush in looking warily around for Sam, the pointy faced one or the woman. Seeing no one at first glance he searched a bit more thoroughly, but after looking in the tiny bathroom and the cramped wardrobe in the corner he concluded that the motel room was empty.

Thinking that he had broken into the wrong hotel room he backed up to the door to check the small plastic numbers that were on the cracked door. There were two 1's and a 9, and unless he had missed by 80 or 800 rooms, he was in fact standing in Hermione's very empty room. Without a second thought Dean stumbled over the broken door and straight to the Impala, firing up the vehicle and roaring off towards the only place he could think that the former prisoners might have taken his brother.

Dean didn't get more than a couple of yards out of the parking lot before his brain had processed what he had just seen, then realised that Sam was not the only on in danger, and that there was one at least one person who was more important to them back at the very motel he had just left. At the disgust of the few motorists that were sharing the crappy roads with him Dean made a sharp U-turn back the way he had come, pulling up in the same space he had left not 2 minutes ago. Throwing the door open he jumped out, and into the arms of the person he was looking for.

Hermione stared at the closing door with a stare that could probably break through a well cast protego. She knew that Ron wanted to talk, and most likely more than talk. Sensing that he was moving towards her she turned around to catch him with his arm outstretched towards her, but he withdrew slightly as he saw the look on her face. Knowing that the conversation that was about to come was not going to be an easy one she sighed deeply. Ron was looking at her with what she could only assume he thought was comforting, it was however just irritating to Hermione and she knew now more than ever that she had made the right decision when she had broken up with him. 'Now that he's gone we can say hello properly' Ron moved towards her, with his arms open in an invitation for an embrace. To say that Hermione was not interested would be an understatement. She let out a dry laugh and pointed at the space between them.

'This is highly unprofessional, I've said it before and I will say it again – we are not boyfriend and girlfriend, and I certainly never agreed to your proposal. You can stop telling people about that by the way. I have had more than one owl bearing a congratulatory message stop me while I was on a mission, not only that, Ginny is mad with me because she thinks that I haven't told her I'm engaged - and now your mother thinks I'm pregnant because of something George said as a joke!' Ron looked shocked at her outburst, eyes softening as he moved in again to comfort her.

'Look clearly this undercover thing isn't working for you love, why don't you come home like we've always discussed and start that family. Maybe mum doesn't have to be wrong?' He put one arm around Hermione to hug her, but Hermione spun out, more enraged than ever. She waved her arms around almost angrily getting more and more annoyed that he wasn't understanding what she was trying to say. It's not like she wasn't being clear.

'Ron, let me make this perfectly clear.' She made sure that she was looking directly at him, 'I have no interest in you romantically. I have no interest in seeing you outside of work, which incidentally we should be doing right now.' He looked like he was finally processing everything, but Hermione didn't have the time to deal with his hot headed reaction so she grabbed her bag from the table and headed for the door. She turned one last time to Ron before she left, 'Just get the body out of here. Let me know if anything comes upon the bloodwork' Her hand lingered on the door knob as she left, she might have just broken up with Ron but some part of her still loved him. She knew that some part of her always would. He was her first love and they had so much history, but they were wrong for each other. It had taken her 8 years to realize it, but she could do better. Finally she opened the door, looking back one last time to utter a quiet 'goodbye'.

Hermione leant back on the outside of the motel door, looking up into the sky and letting out a long breath. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Dean's Impala pulling into the parking space in front of her motel room, following the car she noticed that the door to her motel room was kicked down. Knowing that something was wrong she started to run towards Dean but was knocked down by a shield charm, trapped apart from Dean.
