56) Kicking And Screaming

Tsubaki sat at her desk, playing with her nails while waiting for the bell to finally end the school week to ring. Tsubaki studied one nail and was considering whether to have Liz paint them or not. She sighed and put her hand down, why was she bothering taking the time to think about what color her nails were going to be? Didn't she have anything better to do? Tsubaki looked over at her meister who was drawing swords all over his notebook page. She went back to looking at her nails, should they be red or black?

"Now class, don't forget that your unique science experiment is due Monday." Stein stated as he started putting his belongings away. "So if you haven't started it yet, Black-Star, I suggest doing it now." The bell ran right when Stein finished and the students rushed out of the building.

The main group of seven, plus Kilik's group split off into two groups, the boys at Soul's place and the girl's at Kid's.

"What are you and Soul doing Maka?"Tsubaki asked the girl as Liz painted her nails black.

"It's not that unique, but we're testing the effects of being slapped does to wake you up." Maka answered as she flipped through the movie channels.

"You just want an excuse to slap Soul." Kim giggled while she and Jacqueline went through a magazine.

"It was a little bit of a bonus." Maka smirked.

"Go back, I think I sawTeen Beach Movie." Liz said.

"Haven't heard of that movie." Maka stated and changed the channel.

"The plot's alright." Tsubaki said.

"What plot?" Kim giggled.

"All I know is Johnny DeLuca." Liz added with a wink.

"Liz." Tsubaki snapped weakly and started laughing.

"So what are you and Black-Star, I mean you, doing for your project?" Jacqueline asked Tsubaki.

"At the moment I have no idea." Tsubaki sighed.

"Has anyone noticed how Kid and Black-Star have been acting weird around each other?" Kim asked after a moment of awkward silence.

"What do you mean?" Liz asked, curious about the gossip that involved her meister.

"I saw them brush each other in the hall and they jumped back like they were being shot at or something." Kim stated.

"I saw that too." Jacqueline said. "And I swear I saw Kid blush."

"Kid? Blush? You're lying." Maka sat down on the couch with Kim and Jacqueline.

"I got the cookies!" Patty sang as she walked into the room with a tray.

"Do you guys want to help me with my experiment?" Tsubaki asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

"Did I miss something?" Patty asked.

Tsubaki gathered the girls and told them about a great plan to perform over the weekend and several bets were made as well.

The next morning the girls waited for the boys to show up at the house. Soul was the first one to walk in, a half-empty bottle of soda in his hands.

"Dude, my head hurts." Kilik muttered as he stumbled in.

"I never want to see another candy bar ever again." Ox stated with Harvord leaning against him. Kid and Black-Star followed in after the other teens.

"What did you guys do?" Liz asked the boys.

"Suger...not my fried." Soul stated as he plopped himself down in a chair.

"It's Kid's friend though." Black-Star chuckled .

"Shut up." Kid snapped.

"You should have seen him, I never knew a shinigami could run that fast." Black-Star gave Kid a slap across the back.

"And I've never seen a boy cry over a movie that fast." Kid's statement made Black-Star scratch the back of his head in embarrassment.

"How about I cook us some breakfast?" Tsubaki offered. "Would you mind helping me Kim?"

"No problem." Kim giggled and followed the tall girl.

"What's with them?" Kilik asked.

"Do you think I know?" Soul responded.

"Here, Kid. Take a seat." Jacqueline got up and pushed the shinigami down.

"You too Black-Star." Liz shoved the star down next to Kid.

"I got some cereal, I don't really know the kitchen that well." Tsubaki and Kim handed out bowls to everyone. Tsubaki made sure to have napkins to Black-Star, ignoring the strange look she received from the boys. Tsubaki and Kim took their seat in chairs that Liz had grabbed so everyone was sitting. Liz winked at her sister who was sitting next to Black-Star. Patty nodded her head and 'accidentally' rammed her elbow into Black-Star's arm, causing the star to spill cereal and milk all over Kid's lap.

"Shit Kiddo, I'm sorry." Black-Star chuckled nervously and patted at Kid's lap with the napkins.

"I'm fine!" Kid snapped and ran out of the room, Tsubaki and Kim sharing a look that said they both saw Kid's red face.

"Go after him." Tsubaki said to her meister. Black-Star hesitated before scrambling up and going into the kitchen after Kid. "Get the camera."

"What are you girls up to?" Soul asked.

"I don't think you want to know." Maka responded and joined the others at the entrance to the kitchen, watching the scene in front of them play out.

"I said that I was sorry." Black-Star said as Kid rubbed milk and cereal off of his pants.

"And I told you it was fine." Kid put the towel down an sighed. "These were new pants."

"Just go put on one of the five hundred other pairs you have."

"I wouldn't have to if you could keep you damn hands on a bowl." The shinigami snapped.

"Patty elbowed me." Black-Star protested.

"Oh sure, blame the youngest of our group. Why can't you just take responsibility for something you did for once!?" Kid stepped away from the sink.

"Why do you have to be such a hard-ass!?" Black-Star took a step towards Kid.

"I'm a hard-ass!? At least I'm not an egotistical bastard!" Kid shoved a finger into Black-Star's chest.

"OCD freak!" Black-Star and Kid were only inches away from each other.

"Dumbass!"

"Controlling!"

"Worthless!" The two boys got closer and closer.

"Weirdo!" They shouted together.

Black-Star grabbed Kid by the front of his shirt and slammed their lips together. Kid quickly wrapped his arms around the star's neck to deepen the kiss.

"I knew it!" Tsubaki's cheer made the boys part. "Oops..."

"I think I need to burn my eyes out." Soul stated and walked away from the door.

"Very unique experiment Tsubaki, I love that you used your own lab partner as a lab rat." Stein chuckled as he handed the girl back her lab report. He walked by Kid and Black-Star who were discussing plans for later that evening. "Congrats to the love birds." Stein said loudly as he passed them.

"Kid put his head down and Black-Star only laughed along with the rest of the class. No one else noticed Ox handing Kilik a five dollar bill and Liz handing Tsubaki one as well.

I love this! Who doesn't like using your friends as lab rats?
