So I've been falling in love Tsubaki and how I write her character. Especially since Burned, so I decided to give Tsubaki her own chapter. Hopefully all of you approve of this decision. Warning: This one has a lot of violence (I'm also using Tsubaki's chapter to practice my fighting writing.)
62) A Boring Trip
Tsubaki walked slowly and quietly through the forest, holding the end of her hair that she had turned into one half of her chain-scythe form. She crouched down behind a tree and peeked over the wooden trunk, seeing nothing but more trees and weeds. Tsubaki waited a moment before she walked around the tree and went over to another tree. She looked down and saw several berries attacked to a weed. The girl bent down and picked a berry off of the weed and sniffed it. Tsubaki raised an eyebrow and plucked all of the berries and stuffed them into her pocket.
"They might come in handy." Tsubaki said to herself quietly. The girl snapped her head up when she thought she heard something, she held her breath as she waited. Tsubaki slowly let the air out of her lungs when she decided that she was still alone and stood back up.
"You're never alone, little girl." Something said behind Tsubaki.
"I'm not a little girl." Tsubaki snapped and tossed the chain scythe end towards the voice. The blade flew back into the hand and she saw that she had hit nothing.
"You look little to me." Tsubaki gripped her weapon tighter as she forced herself not to turn around and at the last moment when she heard something, she dove forward and did a somersault. When she landed on her feet, she pushed herself back and rammed into the man hiding behind her. Both of them fell back and Tsubaki quickly pushed her hands down and flipped herself over, landing in a crouch as she was finally able to see her opponent. "But you're a strong little girl." The man grunted as he got up. Tsubaki had a hard time seeing the man's face with his brown hair covering it and sticking out in odd angles, his clothing was as ragged as his hair and he wore a large jacket that didn't fit him at all.
"Never underestimate your opponent." Tsubaki said and straightened herself out again.
"Understood." The man stated before letting out a screech and showing his long, sharp teeth.
"Bring it." Tsubaki smirked and launched herself at the man. The man dodged Tsubaki's attack and bit her arm, his teeth getting stuck into her flesh. Tsubaki let out a cry before grabbing the man by his hair and pulling him off. She leaned back on one foot and slammed the other one into the man's face. As the man recovered and spat a few broken teeth into the ground, Tsubaki checked her arm. The wound wasn't bad, but she knew it was going to sting like a bitch when her adrenaline calmed down.
The man screeched again and Tsubaki had to quickly jump to the side to avoid getting tackled. She stabbed the chain-scythe into a tree and swung herself around, throwing herself at the man again. Tsubaki held the blade up to block a punch from the man and quickly moved the weapon and smashed the end without the blade sticking out into the man's shoulder. The man cursed in pain and grabbed Tsubaki by the neck and threw her into a near by tree. The girl coughed and held her sore throat as she pulled herself out of the wood, feeling several splinters impaled into her back.
"Okay..." She said and swallowed. "Now I'm pissed." Tsubaki picked up her weapon and let out a shout as she ran for the man again. She ducked to dodge another punch that was thrown and ended up falling back. Tsubaki landed on her hands and she quickly kicked out both of her legs, slamming her feet into the man's chin. She flicked her feet back down and pushed up on her hands and landed back on her feet. Tsubaki had to pick her chain-scythe up again and she slashed it down and cut the man's arm off at the elbow. The girl made an annoyed face as blood splattered all over her and she made herself get over when the man's severed arm grabbed her ankle and made her fall over.
"Come here you." The man sang as he reached out for her. Tsubaki scrambled back, using her hands and feet to get away from the man. That was when she remembered the berries she had found. She didn't know if they were poisonous or not, but they smelled like they tasted horrible. The man opened his mouth to let out yet another screech as Tsubaki reached into her pocket and threw the berries into the man's mouth. The man choked on a few berries that went into his throat and tried to quickly spit them back out as his face turned a light shade of green in disgust. Tsubaki prayed that this was going to be the last time she would have to pick up her weapon again as she stood back up and ran the blade across the man's throat. The man made a gargling sound before he fell over next to Tsubaki. The girl let out a sigh of relief, thankful that is was finally over.
x-x-x
Tsubaki entered her home, exhausted, sore and covered in blood. She found Black-Star sprawled out on the couch playing a violent video game.
"Hey Tsubaki, how was your trip?" The star asked, not looking away from his video game to see the messy girl.
"Ya know, boring as usual." Tsubaki shrugged and hissed quietly from the pain.
"It's never a boring day with the amazing Black-Star around." Black-Star chuckled.
"It never is, Black-Star" Tsubaki smiled at her clueless meister. "It never is."
