So lately I feel like I'm getting rusty on my fluff writing, like real fluff. I know how much you guys love my attempt at writing fluff, so I figured I haven't updated this in a while and I want to practice...thus this chapter came to be.

Plus emoangel1990 had requested a chapter where Kid and Black-Star have a special date for their anniversary. Enjoy!

73) Anniversary

Kid grunted when his alarm went off and rolled over to glare at the screeching device for a moment before taking his arm out of underneath the warm blankets and pressing the off button, the alarm clock falling over.

"Damn thing." Kid muttered, wishing to go back to the pleasant dream he had no memory of. He could feel the strange warmth in his chest that told him the dream he was having was a nice, soft dream. Kid let out a high-pitched yawn and rolled out of bed, loosing his footing and falling on to his stomach. "That was majestic." Kid sighed. He turned himself over and stared at the light-bulb on his ceiling, knowing it would be blinding him with a bright light as soon as he clapped his hands. "Alright...I can do this." Kid closed his eyes and clapped his hands twice, moaning in pain as his eyes were assaulted by the light. He rolled over and looked at his fallen clock, seeing that he had overslept several hours. Kid sighed and made a mental note not to stay up so late reading again.

"Kid, we're leaving. Don't mess the house up too much today." Liz called from behind the door.

"I don't mess up the house." Kid stated.

"Fine. Don't spend your whole Saturday cleaning and making everything symmetrical." Liz corrected.

"No promises." Kid chuckled.

"What time is Black-Star and Soul coming over tonight? I'll most likely have to come back and get something Patty forgot for the sleepover." Liz said.

"Eight."

"Oh, I'm so shocked." Liz's eye roll could be heard through the door.

"It's who I am." Kid said.

"Yeah, yeah." Liz scoffed. "See you later."

"Bye." Kid listened to the sounds of his weapons leaving and crawled off of the floor when the front door screeched closed. "Alright, time to get the house ready." Kid stepped out of his boxers and tossed them into a small basket in the corner of the room. "Good thing the mall opens so early." Kid said to himself and left his room, heading for the restroom.

After showering, Kid went back into his room and slipped on an over-sized t-shirt and baggy pants. he didn't want to risk getting his nice clothes messy while getting the house ready. Kid had asked Black-Star to come over tonight and convinced Tsubaki and Maka to make sure that Soul did not come over with the star. He had told Liz and Patty that both boys were coming over so they wouldn't expect anything. Kid spent a several hours straightening up the house before going into the kitchen and began cooking dinner.

No one else knew, but hopefully Black-Star did, that it was their one-year anniversary since the two started dating. They had started going on casual dates after the whole Excalibur incident, having gotten more curious about each other after that...special adventure. Nothing serious had happen between them, although Black-Star was not afraid to try and never fully succeeded. There were times when they were getting hot and heavy and either Kid pushed Black-Star away or his father would appear in a mirror or window and scare both boys away from each other. The two have yet to inform their friends of them dating, but Kid was pretty sure they knew or at least suspected it. Since they never mentioned anything to either of them, they never felt a need to say anything as well.

Kid had finally finished making the house spotless and after making sure the toilet paper was folded correctly, he went back to his room to put on some proper clothing. Kid put on pair of black dress pants, black dress shoes, a white button up shirt and a black blazer, something that he commonly wore. He added a white flower into the lapel of his blazer, slipped on a black bow-tie and sprayed himself with some cologne.

Kid returned to the living room and saw that it was exactly eight o'clock. He waited several minutes and let out a loud sigh, why was he shocked that Black-Star was late? He's always late. Kid adjusted everything in the room again, completely rearranging the whole room by the time the front door was kicked open and Black-Star jumped into the house.

"Hey Kiddo!" Black-Star greeted in a loud voice. "What's...up..." The star's voice lowered when he saw the room.

The lights were dimmed and there was a table sitting in the middle of the room. The table was covered with a white cloth and two plates filled with delicious looking food sat on each end of the table while a vase filled with eight black and blue painted roses sat in the center.

"Happy anniversary." Kid said and crossed his arms, irritated.

"Uh...anniversary?" Black-Star looked down at his dirty clothes and then back to Kid's. "Oops."

"Oops? Is that all you really have to say?" Kid rolled his eyes.

"Happy anniversary?" Black-Star said with a weak chuckle.

"You're an idiot." Kid stated. Black-Star rubbed the back of his head. "But you're my idiot, now sit yourself down before I change my mind." Kid took his seat and Black-Star quickly sat down at the other end of the table.

"Has it really been a whole year?" Black-Star asked, as he tucked a napkin into the collar of his shirt, grabbed a fork and started eating the meal.

"Yes, it's been exactly three hundred and sixty-five days." Kid stated, using a knife and fork to cut into his meal before taking a small bite.

"Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes." Black-Star sang through a mouthful of food.

"You only know that because of the song Tsubaki loves." Kid said with a small smile.

"Rent's a good movie." Black-Star took a long drink from his cup.

"Musical." Kid corrected.

"Well excuse me." Black-Star said with heavy sarcasm.

"You're excused." Kid winked.

"You are such a smug bastard." Black-Star wiped his face off with the back of his hand. He stood up, leaned over the table and gave Kid a quick kiss on the lips.

"You reek of garlic." Kid chuckled.

"You made the meal." Black-Star said as he sat back down.

"Kind of." Kid muttered.

"What?"

"I may have...kind of...set the stove on fire." Kid could feel his face warming up.

"How do you set the stove on fire?" Black-Star laughed.

"I was heating up some oil and I stepped away from the stove for a moment and got...distracted."

"You were cleaning something up, weren't you?"

"Maybe." Kid scratched the front of his nose with a finger.

"Yes." Black-Star said.

"Yes." Kid admitted.

"That's my Kiddo." Black-Star chuckled. "Where did you get the food then?"

"Ordered it from a restaurant." Kid answered.

"Works." Black-Star shrugged.

"I tried, now didn't I?"

"Tried a lot more than me." Black-Star sat his fork down.

"You'll make it up to me later." Kid said with a small smirk.

"Oh? Is there more planned to this anniversary than a simple dinner?" Black-Star pulled the napkin out of his shirt.

"Perhaps." Kid patted the corners of his mouth with his napkin and scooting away from the table.

"Perhaps?" Black-Star got up and went over to Kid's side of the table. "Perhaps I'll show you my anniversary present." Black-Star said with a deep chuckle. He put his hands on the back of the chair, trapping Kid in as he gave the shinigami another kiss and leaning into his lap.

"Don't mind me!" Liz said very loudly as she entered the house, putting one hand over her eyes and using the other the guide her through the room. "Patty forgot her toothbrush!" She continued shouting. Black-Star and Kid were both frozen in shocked and watched Liz exit the room and then reenter a moment later with a toothbrush, running into the couch, cursing harshly and then leaving the house. "Be safe!" She called before closing the door.

"Well...that kind of killed the mood." Black-Star muttered.

"Nope." Kid grabbed Black-Star's face and kissed him. "Let's go to a different room, just in case they walk in again." He said with a wink.

"Yes, sir!" Black-Star threw Kid over his shoulder and carried him away.

"Put me down this instant!" Kid demanded. "You are killing the mood!"

"Give it ten seconds." Black-Star said before closing the bedroom door and the click of the door's lock echoed in the empty house.
