"Your my downfall, your my muse, my worst distraction my rhythm and blues." I sang under my breath as I made my way to the dining hall for breakfast. It's been 7 years since I was trapped in this hell hole and I've begun to feel as if I'll never get out. Every day is the same. Wake up, get dressed, have breakfast, go to school, get called names, get beat up, come home, get yelled at, be alone, have dinner, go to bed. Weekends are even worse. While there's no school it's pretty much the same. Except you have to add in open day on Saturday. This is when potential parents sometimes show up. They usually nosey about for a while then leave. Sometime a few days later someone leaves. But that's not really often. In the dining hall there were only three other people so far. Hannah whose 10, josh whose 9 and Luke whose 9. Hannah's really nice, and one of my only friends, but josh and Luke are assholes. They often torment me during free time but I've learned how to ignore most of their shit. I grab some toast and take a seat near Hannah.

"You're up early." She said.

"Morning" I replied simply.

"I hear there's a gay couple coming to open day today." She said

"So?" I replied, boredom thick in my voice

"What if they adopt you?"

I give her a look that says 'yeah right'.

"Oh come on, you'll never get adopted with that attitude" she chimed

She continued her rambling but I just ignored it. Although the thought of potential parents does secretly excite me, I try not to get to hopeful 'cause I've done that before and it doesn't end well.

By the time Hannah had realised that I was no longer listening the other 12 kids that range between 4 and 15 had entered the dining hall, along with the supervisor, Miss Sharon. Miss Sharon was a middle aged woman who didn't actually do much supervising. She usually just sat reading a book then collected her pay check at the end of each month. Although she didn't care what we did to each other, it'll we annoyed her she got really angry.

"Alright children listen up!" Miss Sharon's voice boomed throughout the hall.

"We have three couples coming to open day today so you better be on your best behaviours. If I'm lucky they'll adopt a few of you brats." She continued.

There were mumblings of 'yes', 'whatever' and the odd 'what do u mean if you're lucky" spread through the hall. I decided that I should probably get dressed so I headed back to my room. My room wasn't much. I had to share it with an 8 year old named Eli, who wasn't the greatest guy around. In the room we each had a desk and cupboard. We had drawn a line down the centre to show whose half was which. His half was messy. His walls were covered in posters and he had music stuff everywhere. My half was pretty much the opposite. Neat, tidy. Some stuffed animals, a couple of anime posters. Nothing special.

I opened my cupboard and grabbed out my black singlet, white open-neck shirt with a red superman symbol, black jeans and my white and blue converse. One of the only three outfits I had. After getting dressed and such I headed to the play room to see if I could find Hannah. I could usually find her slaughtering the boys at Mario Cart. However as i turned the corner Luke shoved me and of course I feel over.

"Watch were you're going loser" he laughed quietly then walked off.

"Jerk" I muttered under my breath then continued into the playroom. Hannah was making fake jewellery with one of the younger girls named Mindy, whose 3. Josh was hogging the game console as usual. I sat down with Hannah and Mindy and decided, why not, I could make fake jewellery too. As we sat there making crappy necklaces a bell rang which indicated that open day had started.
