Chapter 11

Inside the Base

When they were nearing the base Michelle thought about a better plan. "Wait, couldn't we save Echo now, since we are already here?" Michelle asked.

"Sure, if you want to get killed by one of the stormtroopers." Chopper said

"Okay, good point." Michelle said and Chopper gave her a commlink.

"If you need a quick escape or back-up, call me on this link." Chopper said and Michelle nodded. Michelle got out of the speeder and went toward the base. When she got to the entrance she hid in one of the bushes and tried to find a different way into the base than the door. Michelle spotted a ventilation shaft and climbed through the hatch. When she crawled through the vents she found something that caught her eye.

Jeff was waiting in the briefing room, when Darth Vader came through the door. "Commander, did you find any evidence from the bombing?" Vader asked

"Yes, sir." Jeff said giving Vader the fingerprint and dart. "The culprits also took an Imperial computer, which I think they are trying to find Echo and his friends."

"Are you sure, commander?" Vader asked

"Yes, sir, I highly doubt they stole it for battle tactics." Jeff said

"In this case, I agree... wait a second." Vader said taking the vent panel off. "Someone is up there, commander. Make sure there are guards at every everywhere. I will take the dart and fingerprint, and I will inform you if I find who the fingerprint belongs to. If something comes up, deal with it, commander." Vader said walking out of the room and into the red blinking corridor.

Michelle got to the storage room and jumped down from the vent shaft. 'Wow, that is a lot of supplies.' Michelle thought. Look around the room, there was double of everything armour, weapons, targets, etc. Michelle grabbed an armour suit and put it in her backpack, after she was done she ran through the door and stopped dead in her tracks. "Echo?"

Echo turned around with a shocked expression "How do you know my name?" He asked pulling his gun out.

"Don't you remember me? I'm your best friend." Michelle asked then all of a sudden an alarm went off, and Michelle snapped back into reality. Then Michelle ran toward the entrance door. "Chopper, I need a fast exit. "

"All ready ahead of you." Chopper said through the commlink and the door exploded. Michelle ran through the smoke , and they were off.

Echo chased her and finally lost her in the smoke. Nathan came up behind him and sighed angerily. "Great, we lost her, did you catch her name?" Nathan asked

"No, I didn't." Echo said walking back into the base and they were stopped by Commander Jeff.

"Did you catch her?" Jeff asked

"No, sir." Echo said

"No, but she knew Echos' name." Nathan said

"Well, then, my hypothesis was correct then." Jeff said "Nathan meet me in the command center, alone." He looked at Echo warily and they both walked away, and left a confused Echo.

"Did you get what we came for?" Chopper asked

"Yep." Michelle said leaning back in her chair " found Echo."

"That's good, he's there, and hopefully he will stay there."

"They found evidence, Chopper, of the other night."

"What kind of evidence?" Chopper asked

"A dart and your fingerprint." Michelle said and Chopper snorted "What's so funny?"

"That fingerprint will only show that I am a clone, and the dart was made at Kamino, the cloning planet. So, we are good, Vader won't be so happy, though." Chopper said

"When will we go get Echo?"

"Couple days, show them we weren't here for Echo."

"But, we are." Michelle said

"They won't know when we will attack though." Chopper

They walked down a corridor, when they stopped at the storage room door. "Sir, why are we stopping here?" Nathan asked

"Didn't she stop here?" Jeff asked and Nathan nodded "We need to find what she stole."

"Oh, I get it now." Nathan said

"There should be 100 everything."

"Why so much?" Nathan asked

"Never know." Jeff said and Nathan walked over towards the weapons. After he counted, everything was there, so he then moved onto armour. After a couple of minutes, he stopped short. "Sir, there is one suit missing."

"Curious, why would a girl want stormtrooper armour?" Jeff asked and Nathan shrugged.

"Commander, the evidence is useless." Darth Vader said to Jeff

"Useless? How?" Jeff asked

"The fingerprint belongs to a clone." Vader said

"A clone, that explains the missing armour. I thought you had every deserter?"

"Missing armour?" Vader asked

"Yeah, a girl snuck into the base and stole an armour suit." Jeff said

"Interesting, well I haven't caught the last one... yet, but I will."

"So, you're new to the army? So am I, say, what's your name?" Echo asked

"Friends call me 'Rex', yours?" He asked

"Echo."

"Captain, we're moving out." Vader said walking past them.

"Yes, sir!" Rex saluted and turned back to Echo "Nice meeting you, Echo, see you around." He said turning around and marched right behind Vader.

"Okay." Echo said to an empty corridor.

Author's Note: Okay, I am working on Chapter 12 now and will update this Thursday. For now on I will update chapters every Thursday. No more unorganized days, hope you enjoyed this chapter. I am also running low on names, so I will be grateful for some ideas. :)
