Excuse time! 1)I'm lazy, simple as that. 2)Writer's Block is a witch. 3)My mom is trying to force me to home summer school so I have a ton loud of work to do. 4)Everytime I try to sit down and write someone/something has to distract me (I swear I sometimes think ADD even though I'm not!)
So yea I'm done making excuses now. Enjoy Chapter 16!
"Mate…' Bunny scratches his ear, 'Did Manny…ever talk to you again?"
Jack shook his head. "Before we got here, when he told us we were doing this; was the first time he has talked to me since my rebirth."
"That is wrong.' North mutters. 'He should have talked to you more!"
Jack blushed slightly then shrugged. "It doesn't matter anymore, guys. It's in the past so it's not like we can change anything."
Tooth and Sandy also looked upset at the news but didn't say anything.
North and Bunny looked ready to continue but the next memory came on, Jack letting out a silent sigh of relief.
Jack spent a lot of his time traveling, never really staying anywhere long. He visited as many places as he could in hopes of maybe meeting another spirit.
One the places he visited the most was Japan, he found he could learn languages pretty easily. He had started staying around Japan so much he could listen to and speak Japanese fluently.
Tooth looked at Jack in surprise. "You can speak Japanese?"
Jack grins. "Ryūchō ni. Watashi mo, hotondo nai yō ni kantan ni hoka no o hanasu koto ga dekimasu."
Bunny frowned. "In English ya bloody show pony."
Jack rolled his eyes. "I said: Fluently. I can speak others too but most not as easily."
Sandy got Jack's attention and counted on his fingers while a question mark floated above his head.
"How many do I know?" Jack asks, making Sandy nod. "Well Japanese, obviously, I'm ok at Russian, a little French and can have a decent conversation in Esperanto. So around 4."
"You speak Russian?" North says excitedly, eyes brightening.
Jack shrugged, and grinned. "They almost always have snow up there so I picked up a few things."
"Oh you must say something in it!' North booms. "Please?"
Jack laughs. "Teper' ty schastliv, Severnaya?"
North nodes. "Yes I am very happy. Now someone will understand me when I go on my rants!"
Jack mock groaned, making the others laugh.
Bunny suddenly got a thoughtful look. "Hey mate, you said you know Esperanto, isn't that like a dead language?"
Jack shifted slightly. "Yea Morto taught me."
Bunny's eyes widened in surprise. "Morto? As in Death, Morto? The grim reapper?"
Jack laughed. "I wouldn't call him that, he throws a tantrum anytime some one does. I've known him for a while, we… sort of worked together at one point."
Tooth looked at Jack in confusion. "What do you mean 'sort of worked together?'"
Jack shuffled again. "When someone was dieing I would help basically 'numb' them then he would take their soul."
"Now let's just get back to the memories." Jack says hastily as they returned to watching.
The first spirit in Japan he met happened to be a Shojo. He had heard of them from sailors, beautiful female sea spirits who liked drinks and parties.
At first Jack didn't believe them, seeing as it didn't make that much sense. Of course that changed when he meet Luka.
When he had seen a young lady stumbling around giggling. She had a strong blush on her cheeks, making her whole face as red as her hair. Her eyes were a sparkling green color, like the ocean. She only wore a cloth that covered her chest down to her knees and no shoes.
Jack had seen her moving closer to the sea, and fearing she would fall, moved to catch her.
He hadn't been sure who was more shocked when she fell in his arms, her or him. They just stared at each other in shock, neither moving or talking.
Jack finally couldn't handle the silence. "Are you ok?"
The girl blinked. "Yea I'm –hic- fine."
Jack's brows fused. "You shouldn't be walking around alone this late or …well how you are."
Finally seeming to notice he was holding a barely covered lady to his chest he blushed a bright blue and let her stand straight, hastily.
She pushed her fire colored hair back and Jack notice it was wet, like she had just gotten out of the water.
She looked at him and giggled. "You look cute worried. What's your name?"
Jack blushed again. "Jack. Jack Frost. What is your name?"
The girl grinned. "I'm Luka! Since you haven't tried to take me home with you yet I would take it you're a spirit too?"
Jack's eyes widened. "You're a spirit too? Wait why would I take you home with me and what does that have to do me being a spirit?"
Luka nodded. "Yea, I'm a Shojo. Normally men fancy us, if they could catch us anyway. It takes a lot more work to charm a spirit then a human, we can normally charm them without trying."
"Oh." Was Jack could think to say.
Luka suddenly giggled and started pulling Jack along with her, making him yelp in surprise.
"Where are you taking me?" He asks, he had tried to pull away but her grip was strong.
"We're going to go have fun!' She laughs, 'Come on you look like you could use a little fun!"
Jack looked at her in surprise for a moment before letting her drag him off.
She had lead him to a small celebration, people were dancing and singing all over.
She giggled and pulled him right to the middle of it all. He looked around worriedly, not wanting to pass though anyone.
"Calm down, Jack. Enjoy your self!" Luka giggles, pulling him in circles.
"I don't want to pass though anyone." Jack says worriedly, flinching when one lady came close to going though his side.
Luka just gave him a reassuring look. "Don't worry I won't let anyone."
Jack looked at her carefully before smiling and taking over as leader of their dance. She gasped in surprise before both began to laugh and dance without a worry.

The next spirit Jack met wasn't as friendly. Jack had left Luka a few hours ago and was looking around Japan for something to do.
He had decided to stop and rest in one of the forests. He wasn't sure which one but he had thought he had heard one of the locals call it Aokigahara or something like that.
The forest was rather thick, so hardly any wind could get though. Jack also noticed at there was no animals, no birds in the trees or even snakes on the ground. It had gotten a lot darker and a light fog had started rolling in.
Jack didn't understand why but something felt off about this forest. Normally they felt lively, all plants were alive after all; but here… here even the plants felt odd.
Jack suddenly understood the feeling and shivered slightly.
The forest felt dead.
Jack pulled his staff closer to his chest, he got the sudden feeling something was watching him. Normally he would be excited about this, the possibility of someone seeing him, but not this time. His head turned quickly as he looked around him, the hairs on his neck going up.
Suddenly a small cry sounded a bit a ways.
Without thinking he chased after the sound, worried someone else was out here and got hurt.
Bunny's ears twitched as his eyes narrowed with mistrust. "I don't like this, mates. Something isn't right about it."
"What do you mean, Bunny?' Tooth asks. 'Someone could be hurt!"
Bunny frowned as they watched Jack race though the forest. "Maybe; but what would they be doing in the forest in the first place, Sheila?"
That got her to close her mouth and look at the memory worriedly
North and Sandy noticed Jack rubbing his forearm but didn't comment.
After a bit of running Jack found him self in a very small clear, barely 6 feet wide. Jack walked hesitantly into it and looked around.
"Maybe I was hearing things." Jack mumbles.
A twig snapped behind him, he yelps and spins around...
To see the oddest thing he has ever seen.
It was similar to what the humans called a mermaid, but that's about where it ended.
It's skin was ash gray - a color that rang a dull bell in the back of his mind but he shook it off- and looked like it had been stretched to cover the things small thin body. It was barely the size of a toddler, and so thin you could see its ribs. Its eyes were almond shaped, its iris was such mesmerizing blue, he couldn't tell what color of blue it was. It was bald with slightly pointed ears. It's fingers were long and had small claws on the end. It's mermaid tail also very thin and pale.
Jack's mind felt heavy and the edges of his vision got fuzzy.
He couldn't stop him self from walking towards the small creature. It stared at him hungrily, tail twitching excitiedly.
As fast as a cobra the creature lashed out, sinking sharp teeth into Jack's forearm.
Jack screamed and throw the creature away from him, cradling his bleeding arm to his chest.
"You bit me?!" Jack cried in shock.
"I plan to do more thin just bite.' The creature hisses gleefully. 'You're blood isn't like other spirit. Dead. Cold. Mmmmmm, very good. I want more!"
Jack yelped at it launched its self at him again but he side stepped away.
"Sorry I kind of need my blood, thanks. Now what the heck are you?!" Jack yells, dodging another attack only to be nicked on the should by one of its claws.
It licked the blood –Jack's blood!- off its claw before smiling at Jack. Jack sincerely hoped it wasn't his blood that was staining its teeth.
"I'm a Hantulangsuir.' It says carelessly. 'I drink the living and dead's blood. Now stay still so I can drink you dry, boy!"
It stared at him with its hypnotizing eyes, his head started to feel heavy again.
"No Jack!' North bellows as if he wasn't talking to a memory. 'Do not look at its eyes! Fight it Jack!"
Jack cleared his throat awkwardly. "Uh…North? I'm right here."
"Oh. Sorry." North mumbles in embarrassment.
The others laughed but it was tense as they turned back to the memory.
Jack growled and shut his eyes tightly, throwing his staff out to hit the Hantulangsuir. Jack opened his eyes, it cried in pain before glaring angrily at him. Its blue eyes changed to a threatening shade of red, like blood. It bared its sharp teeth at him.
When it tried to get up only to fall back down Jack noticed that its lower left side was frozen to the ground.
It hissed at growled at him, claws reaching out to slash him.
Jack held his hurt arm closer to his chest. He stared at it for a moment before taking off into the air, leaving the struggling spirit behind.

Jack was in New York when he met the next spirit. He had been flying around giving the city a light dusting of snow when he found the dark figure outside a barely lit room.
Jack was curious and weary of the figure so he landed a few feet from it.
"Can I be of service, Frost?" The figure had a deep voice, so Jack figured it was a man.
The man turned from the window and pulled down his hood, finally letting Jack get a good look at his face.
He had olive skin, his dark brown hair was long and pulled back into a low ponytail. He had stubble and a mustache on sharp features.
His eyes were onyx and felt like they looked right into his soul. He had a black robe around him that seemed to turn into mist at the bottom.
Jack swallowed the sudden lump in his throat. "W-Who are you? How do you know my name?"
The man regarded him for a moment before looking back at the room. "I am Morto, also know as Death. I know you, Jack, for a very special reason."
Jack's eyebrows raised in surprise. "What do you mean?"
Morto continued to look in the room as if watching for something. "Spirits are chosen in many ways, but you were made in a very rare way. You also do not remember as much as you should."
Jack wasn't sure what to say to that. Before he could come up with something to say Morto went into the room –though the wall- leaving Jack outside. Jack wasn't sure what to do so he opened the window and crawled quietly inside.
Morto stood by a small sickly looking girl. Her hair was a brownish-red and she had dull green eyes. She was laying under a thin sheet and her breaths were shallow.
"What's wrong with her?" Jack asks curiously.
"She is dying." Morto says rather bluntly.
Jack looks at him in shock. "When shouldn't we help her?"
Morto shakes his head sadly. "When I come to them that means they have no more time. Trying to help her would be pointless."
Jack looked at the girl. "Is there anything we can do?"
Morto looks at Jack from the corner of his eye. "I'm unsure of what you can do but I will make sure her death is swift and painless. Perhaps though, you could help her with her fever?"
Jack looked at the girl before an idea came to him. He moved to where he was leaning over her, lowering his face to just above hers he blow softly, lips brushing her nose.
She sighed softly in contentment as the chilly air swept over her hot face. Her lip twitched upward, eye fluttering before they closed and she became still.
Jack stepped back as Morto took his place next to the now dead girl. He held his hand over her chest and a thin bright string came out of it. Morto pulled a small sharp looking knife from somewhere under his robe and cut the string closest from the chest.
The string dulled slightly then turned into a mist and disappeared.
Jack watched all of this with a mix of awe and sadness.
Morto turned to him. "That was a kind act Jack, do not let her passing drag you down. To let her live long would only continue her pain. Perhaps we can work together again, in time. For now I believe it's time to depart, I'm sure I'll see you again soon."
Morto disappeared in a blink of an eye. Jack sighed, now he would have to go start a snowball fight somewhere to get rid of his now depressed mood. With that thought he crept back out the window, closing it softly behind him.
Sorry I'm such a lazy-butt and taking so long to update. :( I hope you liked anyway. :) R&R plz! Ta.
