Before the other Guardians could speak Sandy lashed out at them like a vicious snake.
"Sandy!' Bunny cried, dodging some of the tentacles of dream sand that shot his way. 'Mate! Please can we talk this out?!"
Images (and Jack had a feeling that most of them weren't kid friendly) flashed over Sandy's head so fast that the others couldn't understand them.
North and Tooth tried to break free of the whips entrapping them but they only tightened.
Jack mean while stood of to the side, bewildered. Why was Sandy acting so violent to the others? Sure he knew they had been totally jerks when they accused him, but was it that big a deal? A part of him said yea it was, but the other reminded him that they hadn't known much about him and there for couldn't know if he had chose to side with Pitch or not. He broke from his inner struggle to see Sandy had come to hanging the other's by their feet, upside down, and was in their faces flashing sand pictures at them. If he could make any sound Jack believed the short man would have been growling like a wild animal, if the look on his face was anything to go by.
He decided to save the others before Sandy chose to take it too far.
"Sandy, please put them down.' Jack says calmly, hoping it will soothe the royally angered spirit. He stepped forward and put a hand on the floating one's shoulder. 'Look I know they were cruel to not ask for the full story, but they are sorry. They hadn't known me for long and for all they know I could have been working with Pitch. To be honest I might have done the same thing if the roles were reversed."
He sighs and runs a hand though his hair. "What's important now is the fact that now they know and they're sorry for it. Right guys?"
The three hanging nodded.
"We truly are sorry Jack.' Tooth says regretfully, purple eyes clouding with tears. 'We were just so caught up in losing Sandy and Easter and-"
"We took it out on you, mate.' Bunny sighs.
"We can never completely make up for how we treated you, Jack, the 300 years and with Pitch.' North admits. 'But will you give us the chance to try?"
Jack smiled cheekily. "Can I try driving the sleigh again?"
North gives a booming laugh. "Of course! I will teach you my self!"
"NO!" Tooth and Bunny cry, eyes widening at the terrifying thought.
The two white haired spirited laughed and even Sandy was chuckling slightly. Sandy let them down but before he let them go he made an 'I'm-Watching-you' sign, he made the dream sand disappear letting the others full to the ground.
"You know you could have set them down." Jack smirks.
Sandy shrugged he made a heart, gesturing to Jack; then to the Guardians and the heart broke in half then pointed to him self and a band aid appeared patching up the heart.
Jack wrapped his arms around the golden man, surprising him. "Thanks Sandy, you're the best friend I could ask for."
Sandy shrugged, waving his hand at Jack and pretends to blush as if to say 'Oh stop it you're making me blush.'
Jack laughs and Sandy ruffles his hair.
In Antarctica Jack landed, running to the nearest cliff he pulled his arm back to throw his memory container away….
The three Guardians who had wronged Jack gasped, was he really going to throw them away? After he went though so much pain and rejection to get them?
But he couldn't. He grunts as he lifts his arm again to throw it but lets it drop to his side. His eyes close and he growls in frustration, why couldn't he just get rid of them? The Guardians words echoed in his ears and he couldn't find it in him self to deny them.
He looked down at the container, taking in its multicolored diamond pattern. He looked at the end at the brown haired and eyed boy, was that really him? Was he even ready to see his past? North had said he's a Guardian, but maybe he was wrong? What if his rebirth or whatever had just been a mistake? Was that why the moon ignored him?
So many questions and worries flooded his mind.
"I thought this might happen." Pitch's voice says from behind him.
His sadness slowly changes to anger.
"They never really believed in you.' Pitch continues, not seeing Jack's teeth grid in anger and his hold on his staff tighten. 'I was just trying to show you that. But I understand."
That was the straw that broke the camels back. Jack spun around an icy blast shooting from his staff.
While Pitch put up a nightmare sand shield Jack ran at him, jumping high in the air. "You don't understand anything!"
"No? I don't know what it's like to be cast out?' Pitch asks as Jack shots more ice at him. Throwing his own sand at Jack, who rolls away. Jack jumps into the air again and this time his blast is met with Pitch's sand. A cloud of ice covers the air making it hard to see. 'To not be believed it?! To long for…a family."
Jack spins around and points his staff at Pitch, only to hesitant at his words.
"All those years in the shadows I though 'No one else knows what this feels like.' Pitch looks at Jack hopefully raising his arm to gesture at him. 'But now I see I was wrong."
Jack lowers his staff as he stares at Pitch in shock.
"Don't listen to him, mate.' Bunny warns, staring at Pitch angrily. 'He's playing with ya head. Trying to get you to sympathize with him."
Jack wonders how they'll react when they see he almost did sympathize with him. Honestly he might have sided with Pitch if it hadn't been for his royal screw up.
"We don't have to be alone, Jack.' Pitch says moving closer. 'I believe in you. And I know the children will, too."
"In me?" Jack mutters in disbelief.
"Yes!' Pitch laughs happily. 'Look at what we can do."
A large sharp statue of nightmare sand and ice stood before them. The ice and sand twisted together and ended in deadly looking points.
"What goes together better then cold and dark?" Pitch asks, staring at the statue as if it was the greatest thing in the world.
"We can make them believe.' Pitch continues. Jack stared at his reflection in the ice, listening intently to every word. Waiting for one slip up that would show Pitch wasn't being truthful. 'We'll give them a world where everything, Everything is-"
"Pitch Black?" Jack finishes flatly, finding the one mistake.
"Dumb rat bag slipped up now." Bunny snorts. Even though he had seen Pitch starting to sway Jack he trusted the boy now to make the right decision. The kid was too smart to be tricked by the Nightmare King, more so after that fail.
Pitch notices his terrible mistake, his eyes widening as he tried to correct him self. "And Jack Frost, too. They'll believe in both of us."
"No they'll fear both of us.' Jack argues, turning around. 'And that's not what I want. Now for the last time leave me alone."
Pitch looked shocked at being refused, before it suddenly turned into a dark sneer. "Very well. You want to be left alone? Done. But first…'
"Squeak!"
Jack turned at the sound of Baby Tooth's fearful squeaking. "Baby Tooth!"
He flew forward to grab her but Pitch tightened his grip, making him stop.
"That-!" Tooth began to scream but North put a hand over her mouth to muffle the rest of her sentence.
After she had finished she shoved North's hand away and settled with sending Pitch the worst 'I-Wish-I-Could-Murder-You' look the others had ever seen.
"The staff, Jack!' Pitch shouts, grinning darkly. 'You have a bad habit of interfering. Now hand it over, and I'll let her go."
Jack hesitated, his staff held tight in his hands and posed to shot Pitch. Baby Tooth shook her head, telling him not to. But she was in danger and it was his fault Pitch had her in the first place. On the other hand what would happen when Pitch took his staff? All his power came from it, what would he do without it?
There was a tense moment of silence before Jack sighed.
He flipped his staff over and held it out to Pitch.
"Oh Jack!" Tooth cries, she shot over to him and hugged him tightly. She couldn't believe after all she had done to him he was willing to give away his staff, the one he had since his human life (even if he hadn't known it at the time), for her fairy!
"It's fine Tooth.' Jack says awkwardly, petting her back. 'I would do anything for Baby Tooth."
Tooth just snuffled before floating back to her original spot, hoping nothing bad happens because he gave up his staff.
Pitch snatches it from his hand, the frost disappearing from it's surface and leaving it to look like a normal shepherd's staff.
"All right.' Jack says stiffly, holding out his hand. 'Now let her go."
Pitch looks at him down his nose, any warmth he might have had for Jack was gone. "No."
Jack looked shocked.
"Pitch is not to be trusted when making deals." North says gravely, hands tightening at his sides. He dearly wanted to beat the man for what he has done to Jack but as leader of the Guardians he couldn't be rash, as well as the fact these were memories, it wasn't happening now.
"You said you wanted to be alone.' Pitch throws back at Jack, mocking him by pointing his own staff at him. 'So be alone!"
Baby Tooth glared at Pitch and used her beak to stab Pitch's hand.
"That's my girl!" Tooth cheers.
Pitch yelps then growls, he pulled his arm back and threw the mini Tooth Fairy, making her hit a wall of ice and fall into a ravine.
"No!" "No!" Both memory Jack and Tooth cry.
Jack turns to Pitch seeing him raise Jack's staff over his knee and break it in half.
Flaming pain coursed though Jack, making him scream. He gasped for breath. Just as he got some air in Pitch sent a small wave of nightmare sand at him, throwing him in the same ravine as Baby Tooth. He hit his head and bounced off the walls all the way down.
He hit the bottom and groaned quietly. Pitch looked at him from the top and chuckled slightly. Before he left he tossed the two pieces of Jack's staff down to him, gloating at the fact it was broken.
Jack touched his throbbing head before looking around worriedly. Seeing who he was looking for he crawled over to her. "Baby Tooth!"
He gently picked her up. "Are you alright?"
Trying to protect her from the cold he put his hand over her but she squeaked. He opened his hands and she sneezed. Sighing he moved to rest his back against the wall.
"Sorry. All I can do is make you cold.' He says softly, frowning. 'Pitch was right. I make a mess of everything."
Surprisingly it was Bunny who acted first. He moved in front of Jack, taking his chin in his paw and looked him right in the eye. "Don't you ever, ever, say that again mate. Do you understand? You do not make a mess of everything, and anyone who says other wise is a lying scum bag. You may be a spirit, but that doesn't mean you don't make a few mistakes. Heck we made one when we left you alone for 300 years and them treated you like garbage when you where chosen to be a Guardian. Ya have your faults, but ya don't make a mess of everything. Without you we would have been goners when Pitch attacked. And since you've joined us, and since seeing your memories, I can't think of a time any of us has been this close to each other. So if anything, mate, you fix everyone's messes."
Jack had started to cry slightly during Bunny's speech, but a wide smile was on his face. He hugged the humanoid rabbit before him as tightly as he could, digging his face in Bunny's fur. "Thanks Bunny."
Bunny crouched slightly to hug him back, resting his chin on Jack's head and smiled slightly. "Anytime Frostbite, anytime."
Baby Tooth's eyes widened as if she had remembered something and dug her self into Jack's pocket.
"Hey." He sighs before curling closer to the wall, shutting his eyes.
"Jack?" "Jack!"
Jack moved his head from the wall. He looked down to see a golden glow coming from his hoodie pocket. "Wha-!"
He jumped back, reaching into it to find it was the tooth container that was glowing.
"Jack!"
He stared at it before looking at Baby Tooth. She nodded reassuringly, tapping it with her hand.
"She activated it so he can see his memories." Tooth tells the others.
"Will we see them again?" North asks.
Tooth shrugs. "I'm not sure; something like this hasn't been done before as far as I know."
Jack pressed his fingers to the surface of the tooth container, diamonds taking over his vision.
Quick flashes of Jack's memories, ones more recent to his death. Showing Jack and Sarah before they went on their Easter egg hunt, Jack hanging from a tree laughing with Sarah, Edith and Edmund, When they put on the story play for the kids during the town meeting, and finally the memory of Jack falling in the lake.
'You're not going to fall in.' 'We're gonna have a little fun instead!' 'You always play tricks. 'N-Not this time.' 'You're gonna be fine…You have to believe in me.' 'Let's play hopscotch!' 'Ok, now it's your turn…One…Two…Three!'
'Jack!'
Jack sighed, he was happy the memory of his death was only the voices and not the real memory. He wasn't sure he could deal with seeing his death a third time. Though it still pained him to her his sister's cry of fear, fear for him.
The memories faded and Jack gasped in surprise. Baby Tooth was watching him patiently, blinking her multicolor eyes.
"Did you see…Did you see that?' He breathes, looking at the container as a grin spread across his face. Baby Tooth shook her head no, but he didn't notice. 'It-It was me! I had a family! I had a sister! I saved her!"
He held her up to his face as she squeaked happily at him; he sat back as a sudden thought came to him. "That's why you chose me."
He looked up at the moon, finally understanding. "I'm…I'm a Guardian."
He stood up and with renewed spirits he started looking around. "Come on Baby Tooth, we have to get out of here."
The Guardians cheered. Jack finally understood he truly was a Guardian!
"About time, mate." Bunny teases, ruffling Jack's hair.
"Oh shut up, Cotton Tail!" Jack laughs, swatting Bunny's hand away.
See his staff Jack knelt next to it and tried to press the two pieces together. The first time failed and only slipped off each other, he groaned but tried again. He stood and pressed them harder against each other. After a moment a blue glow came from the crack and got so bright Jack and Baby Tooth had to look away.
He looked back at it and saw it was fixed. He whooped with joy and shot into the air. "Come on, Baby Tooth! I owe you one!"
He flew straight to Pitch's lair and began opening all the cages. When he noticed the fairies not flying out he looked at them worriedly. "Come on lets go! What's wrong? …..None of you can fly?"
Baby Tooth chirped at him and he looked down at Pitch twisted version of North's globe.
"The lights."
Jack flew down to it, seeing the small lights fading. "They're going out!"
Seeing only one last one glowing he climbed onto the globe. He looked at where the light was located and gasped. "Jamie!"
Jack dashed from Pitch's lair and flew in the direction of the myth-loving boy's house.
When he got there he floated outside Jamie's window, seeing the boy talking to a stuffed rabbit.
Bunny's ears perked. He never found out what Jack had told Jamie to make him keep his belief in the others, or how he had gotten him to even see Jack. The others were curious as well, hoping to see how Jack got his first believer.
"Okay, look.' Jamie says, staring the rabbit down. 'You and I are obviously at what they call a crossroads. So here's what's gonna happen. If it wasn't a dream and if you are real then you have to prove it, like, right now."
Jamie continued to stare at the motionless toy, waiting for any sign. In a way it reminded Jack of when he tried to get people to see him, or other spirits to notice him. His mind whirled as he tried to think of how to keep Jamie believing.
"I've believed in you for a long time, okay?' Jamie's brows were fused. Jack could see he was desperately trying to hold on to his belief, he hoped Bunny and them would show up soon. After all what could he do? He was invisible! 'Like my whole life, in fact."
He picked up the toy. "So you kind of owe me now. You don't have to do much. Just a little sign, so I know. Anything. Anything at all."
Jamie stared at the bunny hopefully, waiting for any sign that Bunny was listening and would prove his exsistence.
Jack was getting nervous. Where were the Guardians? Jamie needed them now, before he gave up!
"I knew it." Jamie's bangs covered his face as he let the stuffed toy fall to the ground.
Bunny's ears dropped. How could Jack have gotten Jamie to believe? Jamie had clearly lost it, how did he get it back?
Jack watched Jamie sadly as he slipped though the window. Suddenly he got an idea. Carefully he frosted the window, noting the boy on the bed turning his head.
'Ok Jack, no screwing up this time.' He chants in his head, tracing his finger through the frost to make the shape of an Easter egg.
He hears Jamie gasp and gets a bit more confident. This might just work!
On the window above the egg he draws a rabbit, but he had a feeling he would need more then that. Ugh what to do?! He looked at the rabbit, concentrating as hard as he could he cupped his hands.
"He's really." He hears Jamie murmur. Ok, time for the finally.
"Whoa!" Jamie gasps, Jack echoing him as the rabbit peeled off the window and landed in Jack's waiting hands.
The rabbit looks at Jack then Jamie and starts jumping around the room, a small trail of frost tailing behind it.
Both boys laughed.
Then as it got higher in the air it burst into light snow, it slowly fell around Jamie.
"Snow?" He says confused, looking at the powdery white stuff around him.
A small, almost unnoticeable, snowflake landed on the end of Jamie's nose. He blinked, sudden realization lighting his eyes. "Jack Frost."
Jack froze, looking at Jamie carefully. "Did he just say…"
Jamie continued to look around him. "Jack Frost?"
Jack gasped. "He said it again. He said…You said.."
Jamie's eyes finally landed on him, his jaw dropping. "Jack Frost!"
Jack's hand raised to tug his hair is disbelief. "That's right! B-But that's me! I'm Jack Frost! That's my name…You said my name!"
He stared at Jamie in astonishment. Then he noticed Jamie was still looking through him….or was he looking at him? "Wait. Can you hear me?"
Jamie nodes.
"Can you…Can you see me?" Jack asks, daring to feel the hope growing in him. He steps closer to the boy, making the distance between them mere inches, staring right into his eyes.
A curl catches Jamie's lips as he nodes again.
Jack laughs in shock, eyes misting. "He sees me! He sees me!"
He laughs again as he flips backwards onto Jamie's desk, ecstatic. Someone could FINALLY see him!
"You just made it snow!" Jamie finally speaks.
"I know!" Jack says, relishing in the fact someone was actually talking to him.
"In my room!" Jamie grins.
"I KNOW!" Jack shouts, the smile on his lips was almost permanently placed there.
"You're real?" Jamie asks.
"Yea man! Who do you think brings you all the blizzards and the snow days?' Jack explains excitedly. 'And you remember when you went flying on that sled the other day?"
"That was you?" Jamie gasps, bouncing up and down on his bed.
"That was me!" Jack cheers.
"Cool!" Jamie shouts.
"Right?" Jack asks laughing.
"But what about the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy, I mean-!" Jamie starts shooting of questions.
"Real, real, real! Every single one of us is real!" Jack cuts him off, holding out the stuffed bunny to him.
"I knew it!" Jamie cheers, belief brightening his eyes.
"You did it Jack." Tooth says excitedly, wings buzzing in her joy.
"You help him believe in us and your self, you make good Guardian Jack." North says proudly, patting Jack's shoulder.
Jack just smiled, remembering the joy he had felt when he learned Jamie could see him.
"Jamie who are you talking to?" Jamie's mother calls from down stairs.
Jamie looks to Jack who just nodes towards the door. "Uhhh..Jack Frost?"
She chuckles. "Okay."
Jamie looks at Jack with amazement.
Jamie's window was suddenly blown open, lightning could be seen out side.
Jack looked at Jamie worriedly before moving to the window and looking out. He could hear the sleigh and told Jamie to quickly get some shoes on. He flew out the window and saw Tooth and North climbing out of the sleigh.
"Look!" Tooth says, pointing at Jack. "Jack!"
She tried to fly to him but she fell to the ground her wings not able to keep her up. Jack helped her up as she fixed a few stray feathers. "Are you okay?"
"What are you doing here?" North asks curiously, limping up as he supported him self on his swords.
Sandy sent North a look.
"I did not mean like that Sandy, you know that." North says, holding his hands up in surrender.
Sandy sent him another look before dropping it.
Jack gave them an apologetic look. "Same as you."
Jamie came running out of his house at that time, he came to a stop when he saw North and Tooth.
"The last light!" North says in wonder, staring at Jamie.
"Wow. It is you! I mean, it is you!" Jamie gasps as he runs up. He touched North and Tooth's arms to see if they really were real. "I knew it wasn't a dream!"
He turned to Jack, grinning. North and Tooth saw this and smiled happily at Jack. "Jack, he sees you."
Jack smiled as he bumped shoulders (or more of arm to Jamie's shoulder) with the boy. He noticed one missing. "Wait..Where's Bunny?"
"Losing Easter took its toll on all of us. Bunny most of all." North sighs looking at the sleigh.
A small fluffy gray-blue bunny came hopping out. Jack frowned worriedly. "Oh, no."
Jamie walks up to it, laughing slightly. "That's the Easter Bunny?"
"Now somebody sees me!' Mini-Bunny, with his normal voice, complains. 'Where were you about an hour ago, mate?"
"What happened to him?" Jamie asks, not noticing Jack and North sharing a look behind him. "He use to be huge and cool. Now he's…' He started rubbing Bunny's chin. 'Cute."
"Oh that's good.' Bunny sighs, his foot thumping before he snapped him self out of it and pushed Jamie's hand away. 'Did you tell him to say that? That's it! Let's go! Me and you! Come on!"
He hopped over to Jack and swung his small fists at him.
Jack and Sandy were rolling on the ground, laughing. Tooth and North were trying to contain their amusement but they shook holding it back. Bunny frowned, ears folding back in embarrassment. "Oh rack off you bloody show ponies!"
They only laughed harder.
"No. Actually he told me you were real.' Jamie cut in, knelling down in front of Bunny. 'Just when I started to think that maybe you weren't."
Bunny lowered him self on his hunches, looking between Jamie and Jack. "He made you believe? In me?"
Jamie nodes.
Bunny looked at Jack his smile both regretful and thankful. Jack smiled back, accepting the rabbit unspoken apology.
Bunny suddenly gasps when thunder crashes. They looked up to see Pitch standing on a nightmare cloud high above them.
"Get Jamie out of here." Jack orders, hand tightening around his staff.
"Be careful, Jack!" North shouts as Jack flies away, quickly he ushers the others to start moving.
Jack picks up speed as he shot up towards Pitch.
"Jack Frost?" He can hear the Nightmare King sneer. "Let's end this shall we?"
Pitch is in the middle of a small tornado, flying back at Jack.
Jack tries to shot some ice lightning at Pitch blocks it with his hand. "Ha that little trick doesn't work on me anymore!"
Pitch's nightmare sand cut though Jack's attack and sent him falling to the ground. He hit a dumpster before tumbling to the ground.
"Jack!" Jamie cries as he runs over to the winter spirit.
"That was good try Jack. A for effort!" North says as they help Jack to his feet.
Jack groans before looking at the Guardians worriedly. "He's stronger. I can't beat him."
"Aw!" Pitch laughs, it echoing off the alley walls. "All this fuss over one little boy and still he refuses to stop believing. Very well. There are other ways to snuffle out a light."
A shadow of Pitch's hand runs over a light on the wall, causing the light to burst and go out.
"If you want him, you're gonna have to have to go though me!" Bunny shouts.
The hand moves closer to Bunny. "Look how fluffy you are. Would you like a scratch behind the ears?"
Bunny's ears fold back as he hopes away from the hand and into North's hand. "Don't you even think about it!"
"I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see you all like this.' They could hear the smirk in Pitch's voice as nightmares began to appear, surrounding them. He rode up on one, a very pleased smirk on his face. 'You look awful."
Jack held Jamie back, keeping him behind him self as the nightmares got closer.
"Jack. I'm scared." Jamie pants fearfully, looking at him for some kind of reassurance.
Jack crouched to Jamie's level put a hand on his shoulder to soothe him.
'Jack. I'm scared.' Sarah's voice echoes in his head.
'I know. I know.' Jack's echoes back. 'But you're going to be alright.'
"We're going to have a little fun instead!" Jack repeats his memory self. He looked up at Jamie, realization and an idea blooming in his mind. "That's it! That's my center!"
Jamie looked confused.
"So Jamie.' Pitch says, staring right at the boy. 'Do you believe in the boogey-"
SPLAT
Everyone, even Pitch nightmares, was shocked at the sudden snowy assault on him.
Jamie laughed, but quickly closed his mouth, looking to see if anyone had heard him.
The other gave a surprised laugh as well, Jack tossing another snowball in his hand. Noticing some trash can lids and wood planks Jack grinned as he turned to the others. "Now lets go get your friends!"
The next few minutes were a rush of getting Jamie's friends out side and with a touch of Jack's snowflakes they believed again.
Their sled ride came to a stop when Pitch and a huge wave of nightmares stood a few yards before them.
"Whoo! Yeah!" One of the kids cheer, running to the front of the group. He saw Pitch and the nightmares and ran to the back. "AHHH!"
"You think a few children can help you? Against this?' Pitch sneers, gesturing towards the wave.
North tried to lift his sword but had to lower it with a grunt because it was too heavy to hold up.
"They're just bad dreams, Jamie." Jack says to Jamie, seeing the fear start to grow in the boy's eyes.
"And we'll protect you, mate." Bunny says, though it wasn't as assuring considering his size.
"Aw, you'll protect them?' Pitch mockingly coos. 'But who will protect you?!"
Jack steps forward, North shaking his head weakly behind him. He got really to fight when Jamie suddenly stood in front of him.
"I will." The boy says firmly.
"I will." Cupcake repeats stepping forward also.
"I will!" The twins speak in unison, bumping each other as they joined the others.
"And me." Pippa says, stepping up next to Jamie and sends him a nervous but determined smile.
"I-I'll try." Monty stutters, pushing his glasses up.
Jack and Jamie stared at each other, not sure what would happen next.
"Still think there's no such thing as the boogeyman?" Pitch calls down at them.
The wave moves forward, rushing at the group with frightful speed.
"I do believe in you.' Jamie admits, hands fisting at his sides. 'But I'm just not afraid of you!"
The wave moved high above them before shooting back down. The Guardians and other kids began to crouch, readying for the attack, but it didn't come. Jamie held his hand out and as soon as the nightmare sand touched it the sand burst into golden sand.
The others gasp.
"Whoa!" Jamie and the other kids exclaim in wonder, the wave of black sand had all turned to golden sand.
The Guardians were looking around in awe, it was golden sand! Sandy's sand! The dream sand was back!
"Yeah, Tooth Fairy!" Cupcake cheers when Tooth was able to fly again.
The color returned to North's face and he gave a booming laugh as he lifted his sword proudly in the air.
"Oh, yeah!" Monty exclaims.
Jack could see Bunny off to the side waiting for his size to come back but didn't get the time to see if he did. He rushed past the nightmares, destroying a few, but his main focus was Pitch.
Jack could see North and Bunny had called in their helpers and the kids were turning the nightmare sand to dream sand. He landed on the roof just as Pitch turned to see him. He shot a blast but Pitch dodged. They started a chase over the roof tops, firing their ice and sand at each other.
Jack chased him around a corner but skidded to a stop when he saw Pitch pointing a nightmare arrow at him. Pitch fired but before it could hit Jack Tooth zoomed though and smashed it with her fist.
"Thanks Tooth!" Jack shouts as she flies off again, hitting one of Pitch's nightmares as she did.
"Ho ho, ho!" Bunny shouts as he suddenly pops out of a chimney behind Jack. He threw his boomerangs, destroying two more of Pitch's nightmares.
Tooth and Bunny teamed up and drove Pitch to jump off the roof (I'm sorry does that sound badly phrased to anyone else? 0_0) where North jumped from the other roof to destroy the nightmare Pitch was riding.
Pitch and North started to battle, sword to scythe. North was doing okay until Pitch was able to knock him over. Bunny hopped over North and started fighting, Tooth came swooping in but Pitch dodged her. Jack was the last to come into their dangerous dance, landing the first blow on Pitch that sent him skidding backwards into a dead end alley.
Pitch got his scythe ready but the Guardians were fasted, each had their weapons ready to be used at a moments notice, all trained on Pitch.
"It's over Pitch." Jack says, the Guardians slowly pushing Pitch back more into the alley. "There's no place to hide."
Pitch looked worried for a moment before he laughed, slipping into the shadows under him.
Shadows grew on the walls making the Guardian spin around to watch them. They didn't notice Pitch coming up behind Jack, scythe raising to strike the winter spirit down.
"Jack look out!" Tooth screams fearfully.
Jack pats her shoulder comfortingly. "It's ok Tooth, this is just a memory, remember?"
Tooth blushed. "Right, sorry."
Jack just nodded and flashed a smile.
"Jack, look out!" Bunny shouts, throwing his boomerang to deflect Pitch's weapon.
Jack turned around and saw the scythe coming at him again, he raised his arm to protect him self but was beat to it when something lashed around Pitch's wrist and pulled him away.
Jack and the others watched in awe as a cloud of dream sand turned into their missing friend, Sandy.
"Sandy's back!" Jack playfully cheers, bouncing up and down.
The others laughed and Sandy smiled as he ruffled the boy's hair.
Sandy pulled Pitch till only inches separated their face; he pushed his lips together and soundlessly tisks as he waves his finger mockingly at Pitch.
With a smirk he punches the Nightmare King into the air. Jamie and the other kids walk up, seeing them Sandy tips a dream sand hat at them. Jamie returns it with a smile. Sandy notices Pitch hadn't came down yet and yanks on the whip, making Pitch crash to the ground a few feet away.
The next few minutes were a blur of the Guardian and children's snowball fight, Pitch waking up and them chasing him to the lake where he was dragged by him own nightmares back into his lair.
After Pitch was gone Jack couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him, but only a bit. He looked at the moon and couldn't help but smile, everything had turned out ok.
Tooth hugged Jack, but pulled away when Baby Tooth got in the way. They laughed and Jack rubbed Baby Tooth's head in greeting.
"Are you ready now, Jack?' North says smiling as he and the other Guardians walk up to him. 'To make it official."
Jack nodded slightly, too nervous for words.
"Then is time you take oath." North says. One of his yetis walked up with the book and he flipped to the page he needed. Looking between Jack and the page he read it out loud. "Will you, Jack Frost, vow to watch over the children of the world, to guard them with your life, their hopes, their wishes, and their dreams, for they are all that we have, all that we are, and all that we will ever be?"
Jack looked behind him at Jamie, who smiled encouragingly and nodded. He looked back at North and the others. "I will."
"Then congratulations, Jack Frost, for you are now and forever more a Guardian." North says closing the book and smiling widely at him.
The group cheered.
North laughed as he picked Jack up and kissed both his cheeks, speaking cheerfully in Russian. Jack was dazed; he was a Guardian, he had believers, and possibly…a new family.
Jack laughs as the kids stare in wonder at the sleigh as it flies onto the ice. The Guardians said their goodbye and started to leave when Jamie spoke up.
"You're leaving? But what if Pitch comes back? What if we stop believing again? If I can't see you…" Jamie says worriedly.
"Hey, slow down, slow down.' Jack laughs. Crouching he put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "You're telling me you stop believing in the moon when the sun comes up?"
"No." Jamie says, confused.
"Well do you stop believing in the sun when clouds block it out?" Jack smirks, pointing to the sky.
"No." Jamie laughs, understanding what Jack was getting at.
"We'll always be there, Jamie. And now, we'll always be here.' Jack says, pressing his finger to Jamie's chest where his heart was. 'Which kind of makes you a Guardian, too."
They smiled at each other before Jack got up and started to make his way to the sleigh.
"Jack!" Jamie says.
Jack turns around and gasps when he feels Jamie's arms wrap around his waist and the boy's face pressed in his stomach. He frozen, he…was being hugged! When Tooth and North did it it was different, they were spirits, Jamie was human. He was being hugged! He couched slightly to return the hug, hands resting carefully on Jamie's back for fear that he might just pass though him. They let go and Jamie stepped back with the other kids and Jack hopped onto the wing of the sleigh.
They flew into the air, the kids' goodbyes echoing behind them. Jack moved into the sleigh and was greeted with smiles and congratulations. He made his way to the back and looked out at the world before him, twisting a snowflake in his fingers.
'My name is Jack Frost. And I'm a Guardian. How do I know that? Because the moon told me so….. So when the moon tells you something, believe it.'
