Chapter 37: Slowly Winning

Robert wasn't holding up too well. One second, he was trying to distract this thing, and succeeding to do so with utmost ease, and in the next, said task became increasingly more difficult. Now Robert was trying to fly as quickly around the street as he could just to avoid Scorpios tail, which seemed to be more and more eager to meet his insides as each terrifying second passed. Robert rolled his eyes then. If I could quick-trade this moment to kill-fight Tren Krom, he probably would've.

Meanwhile, Outilisa was trying her absolute best not to get spotted as she would occasionally try to jump up from where she was hiding and shoot this thing, but it had already managed to spot her a few times and would've GOTTEN her those few times if Robert wasn't there to provide as a distraction for the amount of times that he had. But now this was getting nothing short of irritating to her. They were practically playing monkey in the middle and catch me if you can in the same game, only if they lost, the result was more than likely a painful death. And a painful death was NOT something Outilisa was wanting to experience at the moment. Especially not with the possible fate of the world (or more-so, the people ON it) in the balance.

Again, Robert fired off a shot, hitting Scorpio in the tail. Nothing. A growl immediately emerged from the Nui Jaga sized Scorpion as it turned to him with a mass murdering glare so intense, Robert just might've peed himself if he wasn't a Toa. But this was getting more irritating with each passing second. Robert and Outilisa had just tried EVERYTHING on this deranged Makutacon. Robert had tried using his element of storms, oh no. Outilisa tried to make a small flood, nada. Combined elements, nope! Just what could it possibly take to bring this guy down at this point!?

Eventually, Robert was able to find the chance he needed to get out of the currently charging Scorpio's path, ducking behind a large piece of rubble, and then continuing to run as he touched his earpiece, hoping Billy would hear him as he asked: "Uh, Firespitter"? "This thing's getting danger-close, and we're gonna be quick-dead in a short-second"! "Do you have a kill-spot in your eye-sights"?!

Billy stood now on a rooftop far over Roberts head, wielding in his left hand, a silver sword with a slot in it for shooting arrows. This sword had been given to him a long time ago and as to how the Toa who did this managed to create something like this, he still couldn't quite figure that out. But regardless, he knew how to use it, and he figured that now would be the perfect time to use it. Then aiming the blade at the most obvious exposed area he should've been able to notice in the first place, he placed his hand carefully on the handle, wrapping a finger around a circular trigger.

"Oh yeah"., Billy responded. "You guys are done, I've got him".

And with that being said, Billy pulled back on the swords round trigger, immediately firing a silver arrow which traveled intensely fast towards the unsuspecting Makutacon. And in a split second, Robert and Outilisa heard a static noise and an infuriated scream of pain, then looking up from their cover to see Scorpio bleeding purple from a visible hole in the left eye of his Scorpion form, the back of a silver arrow visible just outside the hole.

Scorpio's screams in the tremendous pain that raged from his in-pieces left eye, only got louder for a few longer seconds before Scorpio then grabbed it tightly and pulled it out with his right claw, an angry snarl erupting from his mouth before it then disappeared into Scorpio's shifting form. Billy grinned then as another arrow loaded itself in place of the last one in the blade of his sword. This was exactly what he had been waiting for. He took aim again as Scorpio's Toa form quickly turned to him in anger, his single eye blazing with an intense rage as he screamed in rage up at the Toa of Fire.

"YOU WILL PAY FOR THA-"!, Was all Scorpio could manage before Billy fired his next arrow from the sword.

Scorpio widened his single eye then as he saw the sharp line of silver fly intensely fast towards his face. Immediately, Scorpio tried to duck his head, but there was no time to react as the arrow pierced his eye, flying quickly through his head and deflecting off of the white metal of the tail behind it. Both Outilisa and Robert stared at each other then, wondering how neither one of them had thought of this earlier as the metal body collapsed onto the ground, completely lifeless.

Billy noticed Outilisa and Roberts looks with a snicker, deciding not to laugh too loud seeing as he couldn't really blame them for not thinking of this when they did. He himself had been in a panic from seeing his wife in danger down there. Almost too much of a panic to notice the weak area himself. But now that that was over with, Billy decided to try and lighten the mood by making once of his many wisecracks.

"Pay for what"?!, Billy joked aloud, earning a relieved chuckle from both Robert and Outilisa.

Paradox was still trying his best to weaken Killer as best as could be managed. But with each passing second, this task was only becoming increasingly more difficult. Even now, Paradox and Killer were flying through alley after alley, throwing each other through whatever hard object they could see, throwing in a slice or a few extra punches for good measure, but it still seemed to do close to nothing to either one of them.

Then as Paradox flew low, dragging Killer across the hard road, Killer had managed to grab a tight hold of Paradox's chest-plate, then using his feet to stop the still in flight Toabot from flying any further, then throwing him forward. Paradox flew fast to the road, making a hard impact and sliding before then rolling back onto his feet. Paradox immediately heard Killer's charging footsteps and raised his right arm-blade, blocking the spiked shield/claw on Killers left.

Paradox tried to push Killer back then, swinging his left arm-blade. Killer caught himself almost immediately, blocking the arm-blade with the Axe in his left hand, then shoving a left elbow hard into Paradox's face. The force of the elbow knocked Paradox just a short distance back, making his eyesight seem a little dizzy for a second. Paradox ignored this as he ducked and rolled to his left, away from what he knew would be the swing of an axe.

After this dodge, Paradox jumped up, twirling himself at Killer and causing both of his wings to hit him hard in the face. This caught Killer off guard long enough for Paradox to then swing his right blade at Killer's face as he landed, making a scar in the right side of Killers lower jaw. Killer let out a short exclamation of pain as a purple liquid slowly leaked from the wound. Killer ducked away then from another blade-swing, sending a right fist into Paradox's face.

Paradox was forced to tightly grip his forehead in pain for a second, letting out a grunt. Killer smiled then, taking his chance while he had it, picking Paradox up by the throat with a right hand, slowly squeezing with a glare into his brothers eyes. But Paradox wasn't going to give up that easy. Immediately, Paradox tried to swing a right arm-blade at Killers face. Killer ducked away from this swing, then chucking Paradox like a baseball through the brink wall that rested behind him.

Rack rolled quickly to his right side as Brawn came charging at him in a full-out rage, screaming as he stopped himself in front of the brick wall Rack had originally been standing in front of, and then quickly turned, giving Rack a backhand punch, knocking him a total of twenty feet away from the enraged Titan-like Makutacon. Rack managed to flip himself in the air, then landing on his feet, stopping his skid with the left arm-blade that rested in his health-blaster.

For a few long seconds then, Brawn and Rack just stared across from each other, gazing into the others eyes and trying to read the other for what he would try next. All Rack could see right now was armor and muscle. Literally, that was all. No possible weak spots or anything. It was like this Makutacon had been keeping a close eye on all of his armor, trying to ensue that no piece of it could be easily broken. Just HOW was this Makutacon supposed to fall?, Rack thought in horror. If he couldn't figure out how to beat this guy soon, then there would finally be something the Makutacons actually had over the Toabots.

Brawn, meanwhile, saw only weakness in this foolish Toabot. From but a first glance, he could see that Rack was weaker in almost every way that he was strong. Rack had a weaker alloy of armor, he wasn't even HALF as strong as him, and to make things seemingly better on his part, Brawn saw the Toabot's self confidence slowly fading away. Brawn smiled at this thought. Again, he had managed to make a Toabot feel helpless against his might.

Knowing now that his chances of victory were greater than before, Brawn smirked at the Toabot, asking him: "You really think you can manage to beat one as powerful as me"? "You're just a medic"!

Rack smiled back then, realizing that he had found part one of how he was going to beat this Makutacon: Arrogance. Though this Makutacon seemed great in strength and power, he was too full of himself to believe he could be beaten at all. At least he had THAT to work with. But the issue as to how he WAS going to beat this guy was still quite a mystery, but all the fighting he had done in this war more than proved to him that every Makutacon had a weakness. All one had to do was look hard enough and eventually, they'd find it.

Then flipping out the blade from his healing blaster, Rack got into a stance, replying: "Correction, I'm as well of a soldier as well as I am a medic".

"Whatever"., Brawn said, before then angrily starting to charge.

No more running., Rack thought. The only real reason as to why he had been running earlier was because he didn't think he could take this thing down until he found something to use. But now it was more than clear to the medic slash soldier that the only way he was going to manage that was by getting up close and personal, taking whatever beating or wound he had to in order to ensure this Makutacon's defeat. For no longer could this Makutacon be allowed to murder Toabots for fighting for what even Jesus knew was right. Rack had to end this as soon as possible, even if it meant taking too much of a pounding.

But as Brawn had continued his charge, he was suddenly knocked back by a storm of firepower, falling with an exclamation of surprise onto his back, making a large crack in the road beneath himself. With confusion clouding his mind as well, Rack immediately turned himself seeing Armor standing there, guns never moving from Brawns direction. Rack nearly panicked then as he spotted War Machine just behind him, then aiming his right blaster with a glare.

Armor saw this almost immediately and shouted: "No Rack"! "He's with us"!

Rack looked curiously at War Machine for a moment, then turning back to the larger Makutacon as he heard the sound of rocks crumbling. Brawn looked ahead at them with an intense glare as pieces of road fell off of him, landing back onto the hard ground with clicks that echoed down the long neighborhood, then followed by a growl of aggravation as the Makutacon got down into a stance like he was about run the three over with a full intention of making them a part of the pavement.

Then aiming his right blaster at the Makutacon, Rack told them: "You can explain all of this later". "But as of right now, I think focusing on how to take him down should be our top priority".

Armor reloaded his blasters then, responding: "Agreed".

And with that, the next sound that was heard was the running of footstep, a growl of hate and a large number of guns firing as fast as triggers would allow them.

Come on guys!, Green thought as he rolled into another piece of cover just inches away from the cobra-like Makutacon. Just keep him distracted for a bit longer! Regardless of how much effort it was taking the Toa now to keep Savage's eye away from Greens current direction, they needed to try just a little harder if they were gonna keep him from seeing Green once he had started charging with the orange fire-shaped sword he held in his right hand.

Only now, Green was actually starting to wonder if this plan would even work in the way he wanted it to. And when he said in the way he wanted it to work, he meant in a way where he would still be alive by the end of this. Yeah, he was starting to hate being in this war, against an enemy of which he could only HOPE to win against. After all, so many things could go pretty wrong if his timing was wrong. On one hand, Savage could instantly spot him and shoot him quicker than he could blink, and this guy was FAST if anything. And in another hand, there was the possibility that he might miss the spot of interest, and THEN get shot at. Or even worse, the possibility that the sword wouldn't even cut the weak area and just deflect off of the weaker surface.

Immediately, Green tried to push these thoughts out of his head, knowing deep in his heart-light that regardless of the risks he faced, these Toa were in a growing danger in keeping Savage distracted. With each passing second, there was a chance that at least TWO of these Toa would be shot dead if Green didn't do something as soon as he possibly could. As much as he knew his own life would be at risk the second he would start running, Green had to make sure that no one else besides these Makutacons died today.

Green instantly bowed his head then, making a desperate prayer for The Lord to protect him before then looking out of his piece of cover, seeing Savage's single eye glaring fiercely at the Toa. Green braced himself then, knowing that this way probably the only good shot he was going to get at this. Green waited a few seconds before then running as fast as his legs would allow him to, the fire-blade glowing in his right hand as he gripped the handle as tightly as he could.

Almost immediately, Savage saw the young matoran coming from the right corner of his eye and turned as quickly as he could to attack him. What ended up happening instead wasn't really all that satisfying to the angry Makutacon. For the second he had fully turned his head to said matoran, he saw a glowing orange blade swing down at the area that connected the cannon to his tail, slicing it off like a knife cutting butter. Immediately, Savage howled in pain, purple slowly leaking from the recently made wound.

But Savage didn't focus on this pain long, for in that same second, he noticed Green making a move for the silver cannon that laid just a short distance away from him. HIS silver cannon! Immediately, Savage swung his still hurting tail underneath Green, tripping him in an effort to keep him from getting to it. Savage grinned a little once this attempt had actually succeeded in causing Green to fall.

"You snail"!, Savage screamed in a high, but scratchy voice, then attempting a swing at Greens head.

As if on instinct, Green rolled away as quickly as he could. Savages tail hit the road, breaking a hole into the ground and sending more waves of pain through the wound. As Savage screamed again in his current pain, Green rolled to his feet, not even paying attention to the silver blaster that sat just a few feet to his left and he held tightly onto the sword in his right hand, pointing it in Savage's direction. Savage immediately got up then, hissing at the matoran while giving him a glare in the eyes.

"Back"!, Green shouted as the blade glowed in his hand. "Now"!

The Makutacon just laughed then, inching closer and closer toward the young matoran as he asked: "Tell me Green, have you ever actually token a life"? "It both sounds and looks easy when you see it in the movies, but when you're actually caught up in that situation, it seems like the hardest thing in the world". "You won't kill me you cowa-".

Immediately, Savage's head exploded, startling Green enough to cause him to jump and then fall on his back as he watched the rest of the Makutacon simply collapse without any more signs of life present within it's completely demolished eye. Green nearly went into a panic as he looked slowly at the black chunks of metal that surrounded the Makutacon's lifeless form, purple liquid pouring from the large wound, onto the hard ground. Eventually realizing that all of this was just going to do more bad for him than good, Green just turned to his left side, seeing Maze standing there with the blaster clutched tightly in his hands.

"Well... THAT was intense"., Edward commented, earning a glare from Angela and Pow.

Deciding to try his best then to forget about what he had just seen, Green immediately stood up from the spot he had been laying and turned to the others, looking carefully to Angela and Golden, neither one of them looking over at the corpse that laid in front of him. Just the way he wanted to keep it. After seeing all of that happen right in front of him, he knew the real mental effect it could actually have. Yeah, he saw Gahu's gruesome death too, and quite frankly he was starting to get sick of seeing it. But in knowing that Angela and Golden hadn't seen it yet, one conclusion instantly came to mind: He could NOT let them see that. Not like he had seen it.

Then turning to Pow, Green asked: "Hey Pow, you think you can get Angela and Golden out of here"?

Immediately, Angela rose from where she was sitting and responded: "No Green, no". "I am NOT leaving you, just so you can fight without thinking you have nothing to lose".

Green just looked to her then, replying: "Angie, that's not why I don't want you here with me right now". "It's because I've seen death happen twice before my eyes today, and I do not want you seeing it too". "Nor do I want to see you be one of them". "PLEASE Angela, don't try to be strong, you're precious the way you are, and I don't want that to change".

Maze and Pow both widened their eyes, understanding easily what Green was telling her, but Angela just glared at him in anger. Just WHAT has gotten into him to make him want to increase his chances of dying?! Does he even like me enough to want me to be there for him?! But then again, she guessed he was right when he said that seeing someone die wouldn't be good for her. Nor would it be for Golden now that she thought of it. But she loved him too much! What if he got hurt or killed? And she wasn't THERE? As much as she didn't want to give in, she could tell from the expression on Greens face that he was not changing his opinion anytime soon.

Angela let out an aggravated groan and responded: "Fine, but I am SO going to punch you when this is over".

Green rolled his eyes at Angela's threat before then looking to Golden who said: "Please don't get shot at".

Green smiled at both of them, responding: "Don't worry, I won't".

With that being said, Edward gave Pow a nod and he motioned for the two matoran to follow him out of the alley. Though Pow couldn't exactly call himself the BEST Toa of stone, he knew deep down he would try his best to keep these two safe, for Green.

Meanwhile, Edward looked to the only two allies he would have for the moment, hoping desperately that these two wouldn't get themselves or him killed as he stood and asked them: "So, where to next"?
