Chapter 39: Here's... Killer!
Paradox and Killer were on the roof of an old but tall building now, most of it almost completely destroyed by their fight. But this was not just some fight to resolve differences like a lot of people would've done back in the 2000's. This fight was for the fate of everyone on this earth, for while the Makutacons chose to keep a grudge over their exile thousands of years ago, Jesus inspired the Toabots to forgive, and even now fight for them regardless of all they had done. Even now, Jesus was inspiring Paradox to back up off of the ground to continue this fight, for Paradox believed fiercely in his liark that the Makutacon's hatred was only poisoning them from seeing the truth, a truth he held dear.
But as Paradox quickly tried to get up, he had started to notice himself getting slower and weaker, indeed this fight had been taking quite the physical toll on his body. But as of right now, Paradox honestly couldn't give a single care towards his own self-being. Jesus had suffered far too much all of those years ago for him to give up now! He HAD to fight for them, HAD to keep fighting for the peace that was forgiveness. For what Jesus had done, so all could be forgiven, Paradox would never surrender to his brother, regardless of how much faster or stronger he was.
But Killer just looked down at the Toabot leader, rage evident in his eyes. Just what did it take to make him stay down!? Just WHAT would it take for Paradox to accept that these people deserved this?! That each and every single one of these maggots deserved a long and painful death for their past crimes against them?! After everything the Bionicle and Transformer races had done to their kind, he was really THIS WILLING to protect them?! Disgusting!, Killer though. Disgusting and infuriating!
Killer didn't even bother giving Paradox any time to full get up as he quickly rammed the front of his shield against the front of Paradox's body, running fast enough and shoving hard enough to force him back against a brick wall, hard enough to send bricks flying off of it as Paradox's surprised form became caught in it, unable to pull itself out as Killer slowly approached him, anger and hate evident in his eyes.
But as Killer got closer and closer, Paradox's eyes refused to show any form of fear or any other emotion that would easily make others surrender. Instead, Paradox looked lovingly up into his brothers hateful blue eyes, then bowing his head and desperately praying: Lord, please forgive him, he is too blinded by hate to know what he is really doing. Just then, upon finishing that prayer, Paradox looked up into Killers eyes, still without any form of fear being evident.
Killer simply grinned down at his winged brother and raised his axe for a final swing. FINALLY!, Killer joyfully thought. Finally, the one worse enemy to the Makutacon cause was about to fall! Oh how GLORIOUS he knew this would feel as he even started putting the axe in motion, then stopping it at the sound of a loud beeping in his left leg slot. Killer almost growled in anger at the beeping noise, then deciding to take it out and decide whether or not the tracker would be of better reward than killing his brother here and now.
And indeed, Killer thought he was as he took out his Energy Signature Detector and saw those same readings his Makutacons had picked up earlier from that storage of relics. And from the looks of things, the Sphere wasn't too far away from his current position. Killer turned behind himself with a growing smile, spotting a Toabot of light, A Toa of fire and a Le-matoran holding in his left hand a Makutacon blaster, and in his right arm...
"The SHPERE"., Killer said in realization.
Then glaring ahead at the matoran and deciding he clearly wasn't worthy of this powerful relic, he let out a scream of rage before then running off the edge of the building, ignoring Paradox's meaningless pleas as he then reverted back into ship mode and zoomed directly towards the smaller group of three, with a full intention on killing the matoran and everyone else who opposed him. One way or another, he was GETTING that Sphere.
11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
As Solar Scream flew closer and closer towards the three who sat now atop the old building, Green aimed the gun that had originally been attached to Savage's tail, with the intention to not be useless for once in this war. Too many times now had Green chosen to run, and looking back to all of those times was making him nothing short of angry with himself. In a way, it was like he was abandoning his friends, the ones who even now fought against these Makutacons for the fate of everyone on this planet, to protect them from a punishment from the past.
But as the battle-plane edged closer and closer towards, Green was starting to feel that fear return into him, trying to convince him to turn away from this. But Green fought his fear, keeping the codak blaster aimed at the incoming plane as he mentally responded: I am NOT running again, so shut it. For no longer was Green going to let any negative emotions effect his decisions, for they had only led him down an extremely dark path that kept him from letting enough love enter into his heart to forgive his father or his old friends.
Instead, Green glared into this part of his mind, silently saying in his head: Get away from me satan, The Lord is giving me better love, and surely he will give me better courage to face this threat. So in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, leave me be. Almost immediately, all of his fear seemed to disappear, and became replaced with a new found courage, one that refused to alter his decision in fighting in this war, in whatever way that he could.
Then hearing another whirring sound fast approaching their position, Ketongu looked away from the stopping Solar Scream and over to the dangerous looking Xtronian ship. Immediately, Ketongu's eyes widened in a sense of intense worry. Crap., Ketongu thought, then looking over to both Green and Billy with the same horrified expression as he shouted: "Guys, we've gotta fall back"! "Like NOW"!
Billy looked over to the Av-Toabot with a confused expression, thinking that it was a little pointless to run right now seeing as that plane had clearly just retreated. With that fact being beared in mind, surely there was nothing else to worry about. And even if they did, all Billy would have to do was wait until Solar Scream transformed and then just shoot him in the eyes. If this had managed to kill Scorpio, surely no other Makutacon wouldn't make a difference. Right?
Finally, he asked: "What's wrong"?
"It's Killer"!, Ketongu shouted then starting to run, motioning for Billy and Green to follow him.
But regardless, both Green and Billy felt the irresistible urge to look out across the old and abandoned city to watch as their oncoming threat quickly approached in the form of a rather dangerous looking Xtronian ship. And upon seeing it get closer with each passing second, almost too fast for their eyes to follow, they both immediately picked themselves up and took off running as fast as their legs would allow them. Green of course was running a bit slower due to not yet having recovered from the shock of seeing that traitor blown in half. Sure, Edward had more than rightfully deserved it, but if that were the case than why did it follow into his mind by a mixture of worry and sorrow? Was Edward even dead?
These thoughts immediately proved to be fatal to him as he then heard something transform over him, then landing directly in front of him, wielding the same axe and shield/claw from earlier as he looked down at the young matoran with an intense, murderous glare.
Almost immediately, Ketongu had stopped running, deciding to take a second to look behind himself to see if Billy and Green were even with him. Ketongu's single eye instantly caught sight of Billy, not at all seeing Green anywhere near them. Crap!, Ketongu thought, then becoming horrified as he started to wonder just where in the crap the Le matoran was. Then spinning around as fast as he could, his liark skipped a beat, now staring in fear at the sight of Killer glaring down at Green, who was still clutching tightly to the Sphere as he looked fearfully up into the Makutacons hateful gaze.
Deciding then that Green's life was more valuable than his own, he aimed both of his cannons at Killer, not even taking a seconds hesitation from firing at him. The first ambush of bullets hit Killer in the left shoulder, nearly knocking Killer off the edge before he then forced his right arm forward, rolling and ducking away from another bullet-storm. Upon stopping the roll, Killer looked back up at Ketongu with a glare that seemed to fill with more and more hate with each passing second.
Ketongu quickly reloaded his cannons, glaring back as he then shouted: "GREEN, RUN NOW"!, before continuing to shoot at Killer as quickly and accurately as he could manage.
As Billy turned and saw just what was happening, he didnt waste a second in taking out his arrow sword and aiming it at the Makutacon as he rushed forward, determined not to let this Matoran die.
Instantly realizing what they were doing, Green did the best he could to keep himself out of shock as he ran as quickly as his legs would allow him to, away from the danger not too far away from him ... again. Green would've shook his head there if he didn't currently need to keep it still in order to clearly see in front of himself. Here he was now, wanting to help his new friends fight a war bigger than himself and he was still running away and being protected.
But his troubles weren't over yet, for as Killer had then used his shield/claw to block Billy and Ketongu's incoming bullets, he looked back to his right, seeing Green running as quickly as he could away from the fight. And with the SPHERE! Stupid little coward., Killer thought, then lowering his shield and ignoring the pain that had started shooting through multiple points in his body as he charged in Greens direction, DETERMINED to not let him get away with the very thing he came here for in the first place! Especially not even if it meant killing him.
11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
Rack swung his right blade-arm at Brawns back, hoping to make a wound. But no. With a cling, the blade bounced off of his back, nearly knocking Rack off of his feet. In irritation, Brawn spun around, attempting to swing a quick fist. Luckily in that instance, Rack had managed to duck away just in time to avoid the swing, only to then meet a tight grip on his throat, that lifted him up off of the ground and press his back against a hard, brick wall.
In instantaneous fear for their friend, Armor and War Machine shot quickly at Brawn in every place they could, regardless of whether or not they had already tried it. Regardless or whether or not this Makutacon was entirely indestructible, they had to do SOMETHING. And if they didn't want their friends' windpipe crushed, they needed to do it FAST. Even if it meant getting their crushed in the process... somehow.
But as they continued to fire, all their bullets were still continuing to have the same effect as the previous three hundred something other times they tried it: nothing. Instead, Brawn simply lifted Rack by his neck, saying: "My, how pathetic your fellow Toabots continue to be". "They can shoot at me all they want, I'm armored in almost every place imaginable".
And just as Brawn had finished that sentence, right as Rack was continuing to look into his opponents face with false fear, he finally realized just what his weakness was, and it meant that Brawn was lying when he made all of these claims of being invincible. Rack would've rolled his eyes at this point if he wasn't trying to keep his fearful disguise. How did he not notice this EARLIER?! It should've been so obvious to him! For in every single piece of head-armor, there was always ONE place where there wasn't armor, and that was just where he was going to shoot next.
Then looking down at Brawn with a grin, Rack replied: "Really"? "What about here"?
Quickly, Rack loaded his left arm-blaster, jamming it under Brawns head and hitting him hard in the un-boned area of his lower jaw. Brawn let out a painful groan then, feeling intense pain go through the bottom of his head as he then widened his eyes in realization. Somehow, this cursed Toabot had managed to find his weak spot! As to HOW he finally figured it out, he was unsure, but by now even RACK could tell that Brawn was HORRIFIED, ready to beg for mercy now that Rack had an instant kill shot.
And before Brawn could attempt any quotes to gain Racks pity and then kill him, BOOM!, Brawns head flew up into the air off of the neck it sat on, raining down in small bits of purple blood and metal before carelessly releasing Rack and collapsing to the ground, completely lifeless.
11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
Athena dodged a left kick from Zera, returning with a twirl and a right fist to Zera's chest. Zera flew back into a wall, then ducking just in time to dodge a left fist from Athena. Athena's left fist hit the wall, breaking a hole in the brick wall. Still crouched, Zera quickly jumped upwards, delivering a hard left uppercut to Athenas chin, knocking her back. Ignoring the pain that immediately started to shoot through her chin, Athena twirled herself in the air, then landing onto the ground in a crouched position.
But the second she landed, she immediately saw Zera in front of her, attempting to make a downwards swing with her staff-like sword. Athena immediately rolled to her right, away from the sword that then embedded itself into the concrete ground. Seeing this distraction, Athena was quick. In a fluid movement, she jumped again, spinning herself and managing a right kick to the back of Zeras head. Immediately, Zera flew forward, her head hitting the metal handle of the sword before then collapsing to the ground, unconscious.
Athena made sure to look back down at Zera's body and look for any signs that she was still awake before then rising to her feet and taking a breather. Athena wiped sweat from the top of her head as she let more relief set in. MAN., she thought. That fight was close to terrifying if not exhausting. Though Athena had tried her best to not make it look like it, she had to fight as hard and fast as she could just to keep herself alive. But at the same time, she knew she had to. She and her other four friends were the only ones who could even stop the Makutacons at all. And with their numbers being as low as they were, how could she have possibly refused to fight? Especially for a cause that she actually cared for?
Athena's attention was immediately drawn elsewhere as she then noticed a praying form embedded in a brick wall not too far away. Or as she widened her eyes in recognition, she sure HOPED that he was praying. It was Paradox, and he looked like he had been through a minor beating. Athena would've rolled her eyes if she knew for a fact that Paradox was still functional. From the first day they had started to date, she had threatened to slap him silly for taking as much as a scratch from a battle. And now here he was, having a little worse than that.
Paradox immediately lifted his head upon then hearing someone running towards him. Paradox managed a smile then as his wife stopped a few inches from his face, worriedly asking: "You OK"? "And don't lie to me or I just might keep my promise of slapping you".
Paradox managed a chuckle before then smiling at her and replying: "Ever since the day I met you, always".
Athena made a small smile then, rolling her eyes as she almost started to wonder how or why she decided to marry someone who was this brave and self-sacrificing. In more than one situation, Paradox had made risks in battle that would often more than worry her. Sometimes she would even yell at him afterwords, trying her best to make him promise never to risk his life again. But of course, then Paradox gave a stupid speech about: "what about them"?, that would always somehow change her mind... someHOW.
But before Athena could give a scolding, both she and Paradox turned their attention to the sound of a familiar Makutacon screaming: "GIVE IT HERE MAGGOT"!
Paradox and Athena both widened their eyes at the sight. Killer was currently chasing after Green in an infuriated hurry, but Green continued to run, with a look on his face that didn't display fear. Instead his face displayed an intent to keep this powerful relic out of Killers hands, regardless of how hard he had to try. A tear slipped from Paradox's right eye as he then bowed his head and silently prayed for The Lord to give him the speed to save Green from Killer, before then opening his eyes and pulling himself out of the brick wall Killer had previously embedded him in.
Athena turned to the sound of the bricks as they clicked to the ground, looking horrifically up at the look of mixed bravery and compassion in her husbands face.
"Athena, get to the others and gather them together"., Paradox told her. "I will try to hold him off for long enough to let the rest of you get safely away".
Athena went into an emotional panic then, pressing a right hand against the left side of his chest, trying desperately to hold him back as she asked: "What about YOUR safety"? Then motioning down to a visible cut in his right shoulder: "Paradox, you're bleeding, OK"? "A-and THIS is not a regular paper-cut, at this point, Killer could kill you"!
Paradox looked down into his wifes eyes then, replying: "Maybe, but in my Liark I believe that it would be a necessary sacrifice". "For I cannot allow the Bionicles or transformers pay for what happened so long ago".
Athena immediately felt a mixture of emotions and thoughts fighting within her as she continued to look up into Paradox's pleading gaze. So badly, she wanted him to just stay safe and WANT to stay safe. He had children who loved him, friends who loved him and a wife that loved him. How could she just LET him go out there and risk his life like that?! But then again, how COULDN'T she? For as much as she loved Paradox, she knew she could never live with herself if she just allowed Green to die like that. And neither would Paradox be able to live with himself.
In saddened defeat, Athena removed her hand from her husbands chest, then looking up at him with a forced smile as she responded: "I could never keep you out of a good fight"., then sharing a deep kiss with him, and then pulling away to say: "I love you Paradox"., before then moving away from him and reverting back into motorcycle mode.
Paradox smiled down at his wife in her transformation, responding: "I love you too Athena".
11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
Faster Green ran, clutching tighter and tighter to the purplish-gold circular relic in his arms, determined to keep this thing out of the hands of the Makutacon who was currently chasing him. Sure, Green knew that there was already a pretty big chance of him getting caught or tackled and possibly murdered, but as of right now those risks didn't matter. For he knew that if he stopped for even one short second, Killer would have in his claws a relic that could decide the fate of the world. And Green was NOT going to let that happen.
But Green DID take a quick second to look back at the Makutacon in angry pursuit. DANG!, Green thought, instantly looking back ahead. Just an INCH closer and Killer would have an excellent chance at killing him just to get to this thing. Green immediately pressed himself to run faster then, ignoring the pain that already flowed through his legs, deciding here and now that it would be better for his legs to be in pain than everyone else dead.
But just as Green was finally starting to get a significant distance, turning left into what he had started to think was another alleyway. But it was here where Green had to stop. It was a concrete CORNER. Now Green was ANGRY. Just WHO on this earth decided to put a corner into a place that could've led somewhere else?! Into another alleyway, or road, or yard? ANYTHING?! But this anger shifted to fear when he turned and jumped in fright, falling with his back to the ground as he looked up into Killers amused gaze.
Killer laughed then, slowly walking closer and closer towards the rising and shaking Le-matoran as he said: "Pitiful, stupid, meaningless Matoran". "Now you have nowhere to run OR hide".
The Le-matoran didn't respond, instead he just looked up into Killers intimidating gaze, seemingly unaffected.
"Listen to me, Green, is it"?, Killer asked him. "Your protection of the Sphere had been much appreciated, but I believe it is more than past my time to possess it". "And seeing as you surely now realize our power, I am going to make the same offer to you that I did to Edward: Give me my Sphere and you will at least live to be a slave"., crossing his fingers behind himself as he grinned down at Green, almost hovering over him now.
Green just looked up at Killers terrifying form then, trying his best not to show any small amount of fear he currently felt. Yeah, he knew how dangerous this guy was, but that didn't change the fact that if he gave up the Sphere, everyone else around the world would surely die. So regardless of whether or not Killer was going to kill him, he already picked his answer, even as he noticed Paradox flying silently in his direction from the corner of his right eye.
Then looking up into his eyes, Green responded: "Believe me Killer when I say, it'll never be your slave". "I wouldn't be anything CLOSE to that for you, not even if my life depended on it". "And I'm never gonna give this or any relic to you either".
Killer let out a growl that send a chill down Greens spine as he then looked down at him with a frown as he responded: "Well now that's a shame". Then raising his axe over his head: "But at the same time, what a pleasure".
But before Killer could make a single swing, Paradox let out a scream that immediately stopped Killer. Killer glared to his left then as Paradox's flying form instantly collided with him, carrying both of them through a series of walls, both hitting and screaming at each other in rage.
Green widened his eyes then as he attempted to run through one of the holes. No way he was going to let Paradox fight Killer alone. From what his eyes had managed to catch, Paradox had already taken some pretty bad wounds, and the drop of purple blood that had started to seep into the ground more than proved it to him. At this point, if Paradox was to have any chance in surviving this fight, he more than needed help right NOW.
But Green didn't get too far, for just ahead of him, up in the sky, he saw Solar Screams plane form speeding in his direction, aiming a laser in his direction. Well crap., Green thought. First he was trapped into a corner, then his friend was getting into a fight he couldn't win, and now ANOTHER Makutacon was coming after him with the intent to kill him. Just how much trouble could a single matoran get himself INTO in this war?!
Green had started to back up then, preparing himself for yet another painful run. But as he made his third step back, he heard a loud motor behind himself. Green quickly looked to the source of the noise, silently and desperately praying that this wasn't another Makutacon. Much to his luck, it ended up being Athena in her motorcycle form instead. Green couldn't help but grin then as Athena zoomed past him, flipping the handlebars forward and shooting bullets from them at a machine gun pace.
Instantly seeing the bullets coming towards him, Solar Scream did the best he could to twirl himself in the air to dodge the bullets and stay in the air at the same time. But Athena had already been planning for this. In order to ensure his temporary defeat, she had payed close attention to how he flied and calculated how he would move to avoid the bullets. Now, one way or another, that plane was going down.
And indeed, just as Athena predicted, Solar Scream tilted a wing away just enough from a bullet, right in the way of another bullet that instantly hit it, putting it out of its original stance in his plane formation and causing Solar Scream to spin out of control, screaming in rage as he flew right over them, heading directly towards the building Zera's unconscious body was laying. NOW Solar Scream hated this female Toabot. She was practically handing his butt to him in every way imaginable. And it was IRRITATING!
"Curse you, you -"!, was all Solar Scream managed to get out before then crashing into the old wooden building next to the one Zera was on, which then crumbled on top of him.
Green simply stared at this sight in both amazement and relief. Amazement that he had been so lucky to have his life saved twice in a row and in relief that this plane wasn't going to be bothering him again anytime soon. And before he could remember just what it was he was going to do, Athena pulled up in front of him, saying: "Green, we need to get to the others, NOW".
Green immediately obeyed, then remembering just what he was planning to do earlier. But now that Athena had rescued him, he had decided to push that thought aside. Besides, if Athena had had a plan to save him just now (which clearly he did), then surely Paradox had a plan to get away from Killer...right?
