Chapter 40: Paradox Vs. Killier
As Paradox continued to fly Killer roughly through every brick wall he could see, Killer slashed and punched at him, trying as hard as he could to get out of his brothers grip as he let out an angry growl. But regardless, Paradox continued, unwilling to let him get away just so he could kill whoever he had to just to gain a powerful relic and use it to take more lives who Paradox still cared deeply for. Deeply enough to forgive them years ago for exiling them all to their doom.
But as for his brother, all he seemed to want NOW was a mass murdering vengeance that he wasn't sure could ever be tamed. Keeping this in mind, Paradox tried as hard as he could to ignore the pain that had seemed to erupt from his skin and ribs as he pressed on. Killer would've chuckled at this if he wasn't currently going through a massive amount of pain in his back. Indeed he had always admired his brother's determination. But as for what he was determined to accomplish was concerned, he would die before he allowed something like FORGIVENESS to enter his light!
This wall breaking/flying continued for what felt like hours to Paradox before he finally decided to shut off his wings and allow motion to carry both him and his brother through one last wall, one of solid red brick. Both crashed hard through it, then landing in a sliding motion on a hard concrete floor, the force behind the crash carrying them across the floor. Both worked quickly to stop themselves, Paradox stabbed into the ground with both arm-blades, allowing Electricity to surge through them to grant easier passage into the floor. Both eventually stopped in their motion, then flipping themselves into the air and landing across from each other, both raising their weapons defensively as they looked around themselves, trying to get a better look at their surroundings.
And what they ended up seeing almost surprised the both of them. Inside the room they had just landed was an outstretched row of brown, wooden seats on a gray concrete floor, the amount of bricks it took to build the outer structure made obvious by the stacked red bricks that composed them from both the inside and outside. And at the front was a large, multi-colored stained glass window of Jesus standing before his disciples.
Then turning back to Paradox with a face of amusement, Killer said: "After all of this time of fighting brother, we end it in a church"?
Paradox looked to the stained glass window as well, feeling an increasing amount of guilt swell up in his liark. Of course he didn't want to finish this fight in a house of The Lord. Even now the mere thought of it left a stabbing feeling deep within him, but as looked back at Killer, seeing the dark smirk on his lips, he knew Killer was never going to allow him to take it elsewhere. As much as he knew he'd regret this for all of his days to come, he had to end this fight. And he had to end it now.
Then sending Killer a glare, he told him: "As much as it will pain me to do so, I also believe that here and now is the time we end this conflict, and regardless, I am sure that The Lord is still on the side of forgiveness".
Killer made a dark chuckle then, replying: "I agree on ending our fight here and now, but as for who's side he's on, why don't you come and see that for yourself"?
And with that, the two warriors charged each other, both determined beyond words to end this fight. One warrior fighting for the people of this earth, and the other fighting against them. One who had a liark filled with love for these people, the others filled with rage. One, fighting for forgiveness and the other fighting for Revenge. And now, as both continued to charge, instantly recognizing determination in each others eyes, they both knew that from this point on, there would be no turning back.
Upon reaching each other, Paradox took a swing with his right armblade, Killer blocking it with the Claw/shield on his right arm, then spinning around to swing his axe. Paradox ducked just in time for the axe to pass harmlessly over his head. Killer pushed his claw/shield towards Paradox as he had started to rise, Paradox quickly moving to his right to dodge it, then grabbing said weapon/arm, preparing to pull him over his shoulder.
Instantly seeing what was about to happen, Killer immediately swung the flatter side of his axe against Paradox's winged back, earning a groan of minor pain from said brother. Killer then grabbed Paradox by the body with the same arm Paradox had still had a hold of, chucking him to his left like a soft ball. Paradox managed to catch himself, spinning in midair and landing on the ground on his two feet in a crouched position before then activating his wings and flying towards Killer.
Killer simply waited for Paradox to come closer, a smirk growing on his face. Then, once Paradox had finally gotten close enough, Killer swung his axe forward, cutting Paradox across the chest. Paradox let out a cry of pain before then spinning in the air, both of his wings hitting Killer across the face. Upon then landing and seeing his chance, Paradox swung his right armblade. Recovering almost instantly, Killer saw the blade coming and forced his claw/shield forward, in a way where the claw immediately caught Paradox's right armblade.
Paradox let out a exclamation of false surprise, then swinging his left armblade downwards at the small metal piece that connected Killers Shield to his claw, destroying it. As the shield clattered to the ground, Killer tightened his claws grip on Paradox's right armblade, then headbutting him and picking him up before throwing him again towards the wall behind himself. Paradox activated his wings again as he heard Killer charging from behind, then shifting his body weight enough to cause him to spin backwards as he turned the boosters off, delivering a double kick to Killers face.
Killer recovered from this blow just in time to block a right armblade swing with his axe, then grabbing Paradox behind the neck with his right hand and pulling him down, Paradox's chest meeting Killers left knee. Paradox let out a grunt as he felt a rib break, pain shooting through him. As Killer then swung his axe in a downwards position, Paradox rolled to his left, dodging the axe as it embedded itself into the floor.
Then rolling onto his feet, Paradox swung his left armblade at Killers back, a large cut forming as a result. Killer let out a roar in rage as purple leaked from his back, then releasing the axe and sending a fist into Paradox's broken rib, knocking him back far enough for Killer to grab onto the handle again, yanking the axe from the floor and running at Paradox with a battle cry.
Paradox forced himself to fight through the pain of his broken ribs and charged Killer as well. Upon then reaching each other, Paradox and Killer swung both of their weapons furiously at each other, only to meet the opponents weapon. This swinging happened again and again at a rapidly fast pace for what felt like hours until Killer chose the right moment to spin himself, hitting Paradox in the face with the long handle of his axe. Purple fluid flew from Paradox's mouth, causing him to stumble back and distract him for long enough to allow Killer enough time to stab Paradox in the belly with the long blade of his claw, then grabbing Paradox's throat with his left hand before flinging him at the left row of chair.
Paradox felt pain shoot through his body as he crashed into these chairs which broke into sharp shards of wood. Keep fighting., Paradox thought to himself. Don't let him win. But as Paradox tried to get up, now becoming slower in pace, Killer kicked Paradox across the face, then stabbing his claw through Paradox's back before flinging him into another wall. Paradox hit the wall HARD, bricks breaking and crumbling to the floor below him as a result from the force behind said throw.
Paradox started to stumble a bit more than he had been before as he struggled to balance himself against the wall, intense pain shooting throughout his entire body as his eyes began to see blurs. Killer smiled as he charged even faster now, noticing how much weaker Paradox was becoming. As Paradox slowly swung his right armblade at the approaching Killer, he blocked it with the axe in his left hand, then sending fast punches at Paradox as he remained pinned to the wall.

As Athena had continued to speed away from the city and in the direction of her friends as quickly as she could, Green had already started to worry. Sure, he had noticed her close to illegal speeding long before this current moment, but regardless, it still worried him. Then deciding to look up from the roadf a bit, Green finally managed to crack a smile as he saw all of his assembled friends who were standing not too far away. Or WAS it in fact all of them, he had then started to wonder as he looked at each of them.
All grouped together before him and Athena were Rack, Armor, Ketongu, Billy, Outilisa, Robert, Pow, Maze, Ops and a few others of whom he didn't really recognize. Immediately, he knew who was missing. Paradox. But that didn't really make too much sense to the young le-matoran. He DID just see Paradox save him a bit ago. Surely he wasn't too far away. Unless... Green widened his eyes then, hoping desperately that what he was thinking wasn't true.
Green immediately looked down at the center of Athena's handlebars and asked: "Where's Paradox"?
Almost immediately upon hearing that question, Athena felt her liark hurt as she braked slowly in front of their friends, then replying: "He... he told me to get you out of here as he tries to occupy Killer"., then wishing she was in Toa mode so she could cry.
Green looked back at the old city for a second then, ignoring the destruction that was already made and wondered with great concern and regret if Paradox was even OK at all. Sure, he saw Paradox kill Suppressor in a seemingly un-outmatchable way. But from what he had already seen, he knew how brutal, unforgiving and liarkless Killer was. Heck, he had practically started this cursed battle by murdering an innocent Toa! And somebody like that could DEFINITELY be more than enough of a match for Paradox.
No., Green thought then. There was no way he was going to let a friend as good as Paradox die to protect him. Not after how hard he had fought. And there was DEFINITELY no way he was gonna leave Athena as a widow. Or the Toabots without a leader. Deciding here and now that he wasn't going to leave his friend to die like that, he hopped off of Athena's vehicular form and replied: "No". "I can help him, and I'm GOING to".
Tali looked over at Green and blinked rapidly in surprise at the finality in his voice. She looked him over and then looked back at the city as she thought: 'How, in the world, can he possibly help Paradox?' True, she would admit that it was noble and admirable of Green to want to help his friend but let's be logical here. There was a war going on between them and Paradox. One stray shot, or even a shot made on purpose, and Green was a goner.
Athena gave Green a concerned glare as she then replied: "Green, no". "I know how much you want to help, but this is beyond plain extreme. You're gonna get yourself killed"! "Something Paradox told me to not let happen".
But as she looked deeper into his eyes, seeing nothing short of an intense determination, worry and care, it was made clear that he was NOT going to back down from this decision. And indeed Athena was right. Green knew the risks, he knew how hurt he could get in doing this for Paradox. But Green didn't care. This was the decision Green wanted to make and we was not going to let anybody talk him out of it.
Then deciding that it was also the answer he needed as he looked back up at the female Toabot of water, he replied: "My friend's still in there, taking a pounding, I'm not just gonna leave him for dead like that". Then noticing that Athena was about to give some form of protest, Green then said: "And don't worry, alright"? "I've got a plan".
Tali let herself smile a bit at his words. Her curiosity peaked, as she stepped out of her place in the shadows and approached Green. "That's good. From the looks of it, we can use a plan." She crossed her arms over her chest. "Mind if I tag along?"
Green smiled up at this new Toa of water, replying: "Not at all". Then looking back down at the goldish purple Sphere in his hands: "But I'll need a distraction".
Almost immediately, Armor had started to approach Green, now completely unsure if Green was indeed in the right state of mind. Now don't get him wrong, going off to fight a stronger enemy for the sake of a friends life was one thing he could understand, but taking the SPHERE with him?! The very thing that said stronger foe WANTED? To him, that was just flat out crazy! No WAY he was gonna let Green go in with that thing! Especially not while considering what it could do, and what Killer could do if he got his slagging hands on it!
"Green, with all due respect, are you mad"?!, Armor asked him. "We're trying to KEEP this thing away from him, not give it to him on a silver platter"!
"I agree with the Silver Samurai here-, Pow said, notioning to Armor with his thumb before continuing:-, this is a bit insane".
Iris leaned against a wall. "I agree. This is far too risky.
Amber walked over to stand by Green, then facing her teammates."I think Green has the right idea." she smiled down at Green. "I believe in him."
Alyan steped up as well, a small smile on his face. "Count me in, Green."
Everyone looked at Ava. She looked as if she was deep in thought for a long moment before then finally, looking up at her friends. " I don't know, guys. Like Pow said, it's crazy." Then walking over to stand by Green as well. "But then again, crazy just might work."
Green smiled up at his new allies, then replying: "I don't even need you guys to do any fighting". "Just do something to agitate him, and then pray that he doesn't come running for you".
Robert shrunk down to what he thought was Greens' size as he looked worriedly to their new Toa-friends with widened eyes and said: "Crap-great".
Tali grinned at Green and gave him a thumbs up. "Will do." She turned to her team, her smile turning mischievous. "Hey guys, remember Operation: Trip Up?
Her team shared knowing glances with each other and snickered in memory.
Ava rubbed her hands together in anticipation. "Oh, yeah. This is going to be fun."
Ops looked worriedly to Tali then, feeling a deep tug at his spark that seemed to beg him not to let her go in. And a massive part of him wanted to. Not only was Tali quickly becoming the type of friend that he really needed, but the Nuva family had already lost Gahu to this monster. They didn't need to lose her too! But it quickly became evident to him as he looked at the determined look in her eyes that there was no way that she was going to let him stop her if he tried. And to say the least, it petrified him.
"Tali, are you and your friends going to be safe in the middle of all of this"?, Ops asked her.
Tali looked at Ops and offered him a reassuring smile. "We'll be fine, Ops. Don't worry."
Green almost jumped into space when he saw Angela approach him seemingly out of nowhere as she then asked: "Better yet, why don't I come with you too"?
Green widened his eyes in worry as he the question emerge from Angela's mouth, feeling an intense horror wrap tightly around his light. Sure, he could understand how much Angela cared about him as a friend, that was more simple for him to understand than 2+2. After all, they HAD been through quite a lot together after all. But that didn't mean that she wasn't important to him! Crap, he'd die for her if it'd keep any horrid form of harm from coming to her. For not only was she the good friend he had come to know her as from High School those few years, but also the one who he loved too much to risk her life this way.
Looking at Angela then with an intensely worried expression, Green replied: "Angela, no". "Anybody but you or Golden".
Angela instantly gave him a glare as she suddenly started to feel an anger rise within her. And though she knew an attitude wasn't exactly something she wanted to have around him, how COULDN'T she. From the very day she met him, all she could possibly be with him other than a good friend was in a type of love that wasn't going to die easy. But regardless, there was no way she was going to let Green go in there without her.
"Is that supposed to sound mean"?, Angela asked him, making full sure that her anger was evident in her voice.
Green gave Angela a reassuring look as he then replied: "No, it's just... You're-"
Almost immediately, Angela got into Greens face, her angry eyes burning into his eyes as she ragefully asked: "I'm WHAT GREEN"!?
Tali stepped a bit closer to Ops then, wanting to get as far as possibly from the conversation. Ava looked over at Alyan who was looking a bit distressed, then walking over and resting a hand on his shoulder in silent comfort. Alyan smiled at her in thanks. Next to him, Amber was busy looking at her spear, rubbing at an imaginary smudge. Diego looked back and forth between Green and Angela, worried for both of them and hoping that whatever the problem was, they would resolve it quickly. And indeed, so did the other Toa. The absolute last thing they needed at this point was another damaging conflict.
In that moment, as much as he still wanted to, as much as he knew he could never give her the life she deserved, there was no way Green could hold it in any longer. For as much as he wished it wasn't, this was the only honest answer he could give her now, knowing full well that Angela would always be able to easily tell when he was lying. So right now, regardless of what the consequence would be, the lying for his crush was going to stop, and it was going to stop NOW.
Then looking into Angela's angry eyes with the most honest expression that he could possibly give her, Green then replied: "You're too important to me Angela, OK"? "Too important to me to lose".
Angela instantly widened her eyes upon hearing those words as they emerged emotionally from his mouth, knowing instantly what he had meant in that statement. Did he finally just tell her how he really felt about her? Just NOW?! Angela's surprised face almost changed back into a glare when she started to wonder just WHY Green had kept this from her. But the glare faded again as she realized why. Since Green now owned an expensive zoo, and had to empty his leg-slits of money just to keep both it and Golden in his custody, surely he must've thought that he could never give her the life he thought she deserved. But of course she never cared about how crappy her life would be if she was with him, she still wanted his light, and now that she knew that she already had it, her anger faded.
Amber and Diego both shared an understanding look upon hearing Green's reply.
Ava, kinda sensing that this might lead to something else, turned to Alyan and whispered, "Go help Iris with her gun. I think she's missing one of her bullets."
Alyan gave her a questioning look but obeyed anyway, walking over to Iris.
Upon then feeling the urge to do so, she acted on it, surprising almost everyone as she rushed forward, pressing her lips against Greens, everyone including Green. He almost couldn't believe this. Despite everything he had done, and how poor he was, she loved HIM?! Green immediately pushed these thoughts aside as he then responded by passionately kissing back, both holding each other in their arms.
Ketongu just frowned at the two, saying: "Well, it's about TIME"!
Tali was about to coo at the couple but placed a hand over her mouth to hide the giggles at Ketongu's words, not wanting to ruin the moment. Unfortunately, someone else had to go and do that anyways.
Off to the side, Ava smiled warmly at the two before shielding her eyes dramatically, crying out, "Ah, my eyes! I'm being blinded by the cuteness!"
"Oh, Ava," Amber chuckled, rolling her eyes, "stop being so dramatic."
Ops blushed next to Tali, trying as hard as he could to hide it as he heard then making humorous comments over Green and Angela's little "chat". Ops felt a little surprised then as he felt his lightly reddened cheeks. Why am I blushing?, Ops wondered. These guys were teasing Green and Angela. Not me and Tali. Ops almost facepalmed as he instantly realized his reason for his annoyingly burning cheek, activating the cooling fans from inside. Of course he thought Tali was beautiful, he could agree with himself a hundred percent that this was the most beautiful femme he had ever seen. But with all that had happened seemingly moments earlier, and the law that was still put up, there was no way possible that he was going to be able to tell her. At least not now.
Anglea pulled back from her kiss with Green, gasping a bit for air before replying to Greens statement: "Me too"., with a smile and a tear.
Diego decided to take a page from Ava's book and then said in his best French accent, "Ah. Love is in the air".
Ops blushed hotter to Diego's comment, almost starting to wonder if he wasn't the only one who knew if he really DID have a crush on the precious jewel-like beauty next to him. Sure, Ketongu had made that little humor-moment with his radio earlier, but he was sure that everyone thought that was some sort of joke. Surely they didn't know that he liked her for a FACT... right? Ops let out a quiet sigh then as he immediately and silently prayed for The Lord to not allow anyone else to see his blush.
"More like medication to a migraine"., Ketongu replied as he rolled his eye. Then looking relieved to the others: "You guy know what I've tried to do, just to get THIS to happen"?
Armor immediately sent Ketongu a glare and close to yelled: "Don't you DARE play that radio"!
Amber looked up at Armor then, completely confused. "Radio? What radio?"
Athena look scared at Amber, resisting the secret urge to laugh, and replied with said urge: "Please DO NOT ASK HIM THAT".
Ketongu looked first to Armor with hands raised in surrender, who then gave a nod of satisfaction, then looking to Athena with a smile. In a funny way it seemed like Athena was the mother of this small group. True, she was already a mother, but that didn't exactly change how funny and sweet this was in his eye. Heck, for all the amount of time they had all been stuck together, Athena was always there whenever Rack and Armor had a disagreement over how to make something or whenever he got into it with Armor for pulling pranks on him, always managing to calm the situation in one way or another. Though it seemed like it was the war that put this group together, the bond they all felt was indeed as strong as the bondage between a functional family.
Then walking up to Athena, Ketongu told her and everyone: "It's fine guys, really". Then growing a humorous grin: "I actually just thought of a song to use on their honeymoon, when things start getting-", then whispering the rest in Athenas ear.
When Ketongu pulled back, Athena widened her eyes, almost unsure of whether to laugh or smack him upside the head... again.
Then giving Ketongu a look of mixed disgust and urge to laugh, Athena replied: "You're despicable"!, earning a laugh from the other Toabots.
Green took his attention off of the Toabots for a moment, then focusing back on what Angela had said to him earlier and replied: "Then you know why I can't let you come with me". "Please Angie, I don't want you to get hurt over me".
Ops almost gave Green a glare, wanting to say: Oh, so you don't want to take Angela in there with you, but you want to take Tali into risk instead?! But he didn't. Instead, he repeated the want-to-say statement in his head, immediately blushing more than he had been before. Ops almost growled in frustration then as he fought the urge to look back at Tali, in an intense fear that she would see said blush and laugh or sue.
Feeling like something was going on behind him, Billy turned in the direction of his friends, then seeing Ops's lava-red face and ear antennas, raising an eyebrow as he humorously asked him: "Ops, is your face on fire"?
Tali, hearing Billy's question, turned to look at Ops and widened her eyes in shock. "Ops, are you okay? You're red! Redder than red, actually!" Concerned and not really thinking about it, she rested a hand on his forehead to make sure that he hadn't caught a fever out here. Thankfully, it wasn't that hot. "Hmmm, a bit warm." She removed her hand. "Are you sure you're okay?"
As everyone then turned to him, Ops gave them the best confused look he could manage and replied: "I am"? Then placing a hand on his left cheek: "Oh that, yeah It's probably nothing". "My skin usually just does that".
Ketongu rolled an eye, saying aloud, in an almost sarcastic tone: "Sure it does".
Ops turned to Ketongu, far enough for no one else to see him as he mouthed the words: shut up, to Ketongu who immediately struggled to fight the urge to laugh.
Angela looked down to the ground in deep thought, considering wether or not she should go with Green into... whatever he was about to do. Sure, trying to help Paradadox in his fight with Killer wasn't going to be easy. And it wouldn't be safe either, but regardless of how dangerous of an impact this war would have on them on the rest of their lives, she did NOT want to lose Green. Not now. But as she looked back up into his eyes, about to beg him to let her come, she saw the answer in Greens eyes. No matter how much she was gonna beg him, he was NOT going to let her come and take that risk of getting hurt with him.
Then letting out a sigh, and hugging him, Angela replied: "Fine". Silence passed the two for a while as they continued their hug before Angela then pulled out from it and looked half angry at Green as she told him: "But if you come back with ONE scar, Killer will be the LEAST of your problems".
Green looked truthfully at Angela, then saying: "I promise I'll be fine Angie".
"Oh, you'd BETTER be"., Angela told him before then turning around and walking to the others with a look of mixed irritation and worry.
From his right, Golden looked up at Green, not exactly wanting him to go either and holding back tears as he silently prayed for his older brothers safety and said: "Be safe big bro".
Green looked down at Golden with a reassuring smile, lightly petting the top of his Hau as he responded: "You too little bro".
Diego smiled kindly down at Golden. "Don't worry, little guy. Your bro's in good hands."
Ava nodded reassuringly. "Got that right."
Golden looked happily to these new Toa and replied: "I know, thanks guys"., before then running after Angela.
Armor waited for Golden to get enough of a distance away before then saying: "Am I SERIOUSLY the only one who thinks bringing a child to a war zone was a terrible idea"?
Ava glared up at Armor. 'Did he have to keep bringing that up?' she thought, 'It's getting annoying!' "Stop calling Green a kid!" She growled.
Tali was a bit taken back by Ava's tone and quickly laid a hand on her shoulder to calm her down, as well as to hold her back just in case.
"Easy, Ava." She spoke calmly to her friend before turning to Armor, determined to prevent an unnecessary argument. "I understand your concern, Armor."
Ava looked over at Tali in surprise. She was actually agreeing with him?!
"Yes, Green is a bit young and inexperienced in the ways of war, unlike us. But do not count him out so soon. What he lacks in training, he makes up for in light, and that is what truly matters.", Tali told him.
Ava smiled at Tali and nodded, understanding now what she was saying.
Armor blinked a few times, in surprise from Ava's sudden outburst, before then calmly replying: "I was actually referring to Golden". "He's like, five".
Alyan rolled his eyes and crossed his arms as he leaned back against a wall. "So? I was the same age when I learned to shoot."
Amber narrowed her eyes at Alyan.
"True," she used her foot to slip his legs out from under him, "but you weren't thrown into the middle of a war, having to run for your life."
Alyan glared up at her and grumbled a bit as he got back to his feet.
"Well either way, he's safe now"., Green told them. Then looking up to Tali, Ava, Alyan, Diego and Amber, he asked: "You guys ready for this"? "And remember, don't let him see you".
Diego chuckled softly. "Pal, we are the masters of working in the shadows." He struck a heroic pose. "He won't know what hit'im."
Ava, Iris and Alyan chuckled at Diego while Tali rolled her eyes in an attempt to not laugh at her friend's silliness. "Don't get cocky, Diego." She gave him a nudge in the back, causing him to lose his balance a bit.
He looked back at her but she had already turned to address the rest of the team.
"This guy is not like the ones back at the Academy., Tali told them. Keep your wits around you and, like Green said, don't get spotted."
Amber smiled mischievously at this. "No problem here." Her Kanohi Huna glowed for a moment and she disappeared.
Tali laughed. "Two can play at that game, Amber." Activating her own Kanohi Huna, she disappeared as well.
Ava crossed her arms and shook her head at the too, smiling. "Show offs."
Both invisible girls burst out laughing.

As Paradox, was then hurled across the long isle of seats, his back hitting a brick wall, he let out an exclamation of pain, feeling his back explode in intense pain. As Paradox then fell to the ground, he tried desperately to get back up, this time being unable to as pain surged throughout his body. Desperately, he wanted to get back up, and fight harder for whom he knew to be the forgiven, but as he then took a look down at himself, he knew deep in his liark that there was no chance of getting back up anytime soon. As much as he hated to admit it, he was too badly scarred and beaten to keep fighting. Too weak to make ANY kind of fight-like moves against his stronger brother.
Seeing this well enough for himself, Killer ran in Paradox's direction, and then picking him up by the throat upon reaching him. As Paradox then forced himself past the pain he still felt to look into the eyes of his younger brother, he felt his Liark hurt in much more pain than the rest of his body. Not because he knew he was weaker than his brother, but because of how wrong-liarked and how wrong-minded he was. Why couldn't he just accept the fact that things didn't have to be this way anymore?, Paradox thought in his current sadness, a tear escaping his right eye. Jesus did after all die for the sins of the world, making Killers cause for vengeance useless. Why couldn't he just open his liark and see that for himself?
Killer saw the tear escape Paradox's eye, and then gave him a glare as he said: "You think they can be forgiven"? Then removing his battle-axe from the slot in his back: "Honestly brother, what's the whole point of doing so if they'll never forgive US"?, then raising it over his head, preparing to give the final blow.
Knowing now what was about to happen, Paradox fought through the surging pain and lowered his head, then closing his eyes and praying: "Lord, forgive my brother for what he's about to do, for he is to blind to truly see it".
Killer let out a laugh then, believing that God was now on his side before then preparing to make the swing. Killer immediately stopped upon then hearing a battle cry to his right side, then looking to see a red form tackle him with a force so strong that Killer dropped both Paradox and his axe, which fell to the ground. Both the red Toabot and Killer rolled on the ground before Killer was then slammed to the ground, earning a light grunt in pain as he then looked up at the red form who rolled back and then pointed all of his weapons at him. This red form was none other than Paradox and Killers other brother War Machine.
War Machine then directed a growl towards Killer before warning: "Away from our brother"!
Killer just growled back before then rising quickly to his feet and charging at the whom he thought to be traitor to the Makutacon cause. War Machine instantly started shooting his left hakkan blaster, aiming for any part of Killer he could get to in time before he could reach him. Killer easily blocked the first shot, sticking the longer blade of his claw in the center of his face, the bullet hitting it instead. War Machine then aimed the missile launcher on his left shoulder at Killer, firing as soon as he was sure he had good aim. Killer got to the ground and rolled away from each missile that fired, eventually ending up behind War Machine. As Killer rose to his feet and spun in War Machines direction, War Machine attempted a swing at Killers head with his hakkan blaster, hoping to either break his jaw or knock him out. War Machines Hakkan blaster met Killers claw, which then wrapped around it as he swung his left fist at War Machines face, hitting it hard enough to make his optics fuzzy for a second.
All in this same second, Killer yanked away the Hakkan blaster, hurling it a distance, then swinging his claw arm at War Machines right cannon/arm, cutting it off. War Machine made an exclamation in pain as purple slowly poured from the wound, then attempting to shoot the machine gun turret on his left shoulder at him. Killer ducked, avoiding the fast bullets as he then tackled War Machine to the ground, temporarily stopping the gunfire. Taking the chance while he still had it, Killer swung his claw arm down at War Machine's machine-turret, slicing it in half down the middle.
War Machine immediately swung his left fist at Killer, hitting him hard in the face and knocking a bit of purple from Killers mouth. Killer just glared down at him in response before then grabbing him by the back of his neck with his left hand and spun before throwing him hard onto the ground. War Machine quickly tried to get up, but Killer kicked him with his left foot, knocking War Machine onto his back before Killer then gathered enough strength in this same leg as he then stomped down on War Machines left knee.
War Machine let out a scream in pain as the leg then snapped, part of the bone becoming exposed on the outside as purple continued to leak from it. As Killer then let out a sigh, he walked back over to where his battle-axe laid on the concrete ground and picked it up by the handle, starting to drag it in War Machines directions, Paradox watching with a horrified expression. Killer then gave War Machine a grin as he then chuckled and then turned in Paradox's direction. Paradox's facial expression changed to one of relief, Glad that he'd be the one to die instead of any of his siblings or any other friends.
"Stand aside traitor"., Killer told War Machine as he finally reached Paradox's current position, on the floor in the alter. "Though you are my both my brothers, Paradox was the first to stand against me and therefore, shall be the first to fall"., Killer finished as he then raised the axe once more, with the intent to split his brothers skull, for everything he had tried to do in order to stop him.
Keeping to the shadows, Alyan quietly scooped up some stones from the rubble and positioned himself to Killer's left. Ava appeared next to Alyan as he crushed the stones in his hands to dust. Smirking, he whispered to Ava' "Ready?"
Ava answered with a smirk of her own and created a strong gust of wind to blow the dust from Alyan's hands and guided it into Killer's eyes, making him go temporarily blind and drop Paradox. Amber, positioned at Killer's right, quickly created a patch of ice under Killer's feet, causing him to slip and fall backwards. Amber, Alyan and Ava gave each other a thumbs up before melting into the darkness again.
Killer let out a roar in anger and pain at first, clutching at his eyes before before then slowly laughing and looking up from his hands, revealing absolutely zero damage to his eyes.
"Toa then"?!, Killer called out, then standing back up to his feet. "You are all powerless against me"! "Do any of you feel the fear of that"? "The fact that you cannot kill me, but I can easily kill you"!?
"THERE WONT BE ANYMORE KILLING"!, Killer heard a familiar voice exclaim from far ahead.
Killer looked towards the source of the voice then, seeing Green stand just outside the open church doors, who stared ahead at him with an expression of determination. Paradox's expression instantly changed to one of absolute terror. As did War Machines as they both started to wonder just what the heck this Le-matoran was doing. SURELY he knew how dangerous this Makutacon was. Keeping that fact in mind, they were probably more concerned for his life at this point than he was.
"None of anyone else but you"!, Green shouted.
Tali kept her eyes on Green as she slightly tightened her grip on her bow. "Dear Lord," she prayed under her breath, "give Green wisdom."
Ava slowly unsheathed her katanas. "Father God," she prayed quietly, "protect Green. Keep him safe."
Diego watched Green with concern and whispered, "Jesus, be with Green and shield him, please."
Upon hearing Greens exclamation, Killer simply laughed, replying: "Oh, this is almost too much". "First a team of Toa try and fail, and now YOU, A simple Le-matoran, believe YOU can harm me". Then sending him a glare: "Don't waste my time BOY". "Paradox is still the first, and I'm being rather generous in giving you a head start"., then raising his axe again as he turned back in Paradox's direction.
But Green wasn't about to stand down just yet. Seeing as the person Killer was trying to kill was the same one who made such a big risk just to come to the Turaga Council in an effort to make peace with them. Not just that, Paradox had also been fighting for no one knew how many years to protect the leaders who had originally hated them, and helped Green, a matoran who had seemed to be messing up at every turn, to re-learn the forgiveness Jesus had given them on that cross. And now, for everything Paradox did, and the person The Lord made him into, Green wasn't about to stop helping Paradox yet.
"Leave him alone... NOW"., Green shouted, stopping Killers axe one more.
Ava did not like how things were looking down there and was starting to get the urge to go down there and do something. Wondering if the others where feeling the same, she turned to Diego and, kept her voice low to prevent being heard as she asked: "What are we going to do?"
Diego spared her a glace out of the corner of his eye before looking forward again. "We wait." He whispered back. "There's nothing we can do now."
Ava's eyes widened in shock. Wait? They were seriously going to just sit around here in the shadows and watch their friend down there possibly get pummeled? No way, no how. Not happening. Ava opened her mouth to argue. "But..."
Only to shut it again when Tali's low, but stern voice spoke up: "Green told us to stay out of it and that is what we're going to do."
Ava lowered her head a bit at the rebuke and looked back to the battle below them.
Killer turned slowly to the Le-matoran, almost unsure of wether to be amused or enraged. Just who did this matoran think he was, making demands from one as powerful as him? From ANY Bioformer nonetheless. He was JUST a MATORAN. And in Killers eyes, that meant a more than easy enough Bionicle to kill, a nothing, an unfit to live sinner for not trying to defend them all of those years ago. And as far as Killer knew, that was all any Bionicle would ever be in his eyes.
Then looking upon Green with a threatening gaze, Killer taunted with a serious tone: "Or what-, then lowering his axe threateningly to the ground: maggot"?
Fighting the fear then that had started it's attempt to crawl into his light, Green almost immediately responded: "Or I'll kill you".
Paradox's eyes widened in an increasing fear as he then attempted to get back up, still without success as he yelled: "No Green, run"! "Don't kill yourself over me"!
But Green ignored Paradox's plea, keeping his eyes fixed on Killer's accusing eyes. He knew what the risks would be long before he came in here. Sure, a matoran actually managing to beat a Makutacon leader? What were the odds of that EVER happening? But regardless of what his odds would be, he still believed in the deepest part of his light that all he had to do was make a prayer and The Lord would help him. And for the few spare seconds he was sure that he still had, that's just what what he did.
Amber could not resist the urge any longer and stared to get up. "We can't let him kill himself. We need to help!" Tali quickly reached up to grab Amber and pulled her back down.
"No, Amber! Green will be alright. I have faith in him." Amber did not look convinced and started to struggle a bit in Tali's grasp so she could get back up. But it only caused Tali to tighten her grip. "And remember, he is not alone down there." Now, Amber paused as she realized what Tali meant. Of course! Had they not prayed for the Lord to be with Green as he faced Killer? How could Amber have forgotten that so quickly?! Tali smiled a bit as she felt Amber relax before releasing her grip.
"But what about Killer?" Alyan asked from behind her.
Tali looked over her shoulder at him, confused. "What about Killer?"
"He murdered Gahu. Shouldn't you be the one to land the final blow?"
The mention of her twin's name was enough to reawaken the hurt and anger that she had felt upon first hearing of his death. Looking back at Killer, she let her thoughts wander down that line of thought. 'He killed my brother. He took him away form me and my parents.' Her grip tightened around her bow as the rage built in her chest. 'Alyan's right. I should be the one to make the final blow to avenge my brother!' But as the rage was about to rise higher, she stopped herself. 'Wait, what am I thinking? Yes, he killed Gahu but I've already forgiven him of that. What good would killing Killer do for me? It's not going to bring Gahu back. And besides, Gahu wouldn't want me to strike out in revenge and neither would Jesus.' Taking a breath to rid herself of the built up anger, she turned to Alyan and answered him in a firm voice.
"Then it would be a blow in revenge, not justice. Gahu would nave have wanted me to avenge him in such a manner. Besides, I already forgave Killer for what he did to Gahu."
Alyan fell silent at the mild rebuke and looked away, not having anything else to say and silently berating himself for bringing the subject up in the first place.
Now Killer was enraged, and Green evidently saw this when he immediately gulped. AGAIN, who did this young, inexperienced, stupid matoran think he was for threatening him? HIM?! Not only did Killer want to make a loud uproar of laughter, at the same times he wanted to roar in rage. This matoran was a weakling, a NOTHING compared to him. There was no POSSIBLE way he could beat him. And even if he WAS skilled in any sort of way, up close Killer was sure he could break said matoran into pieces easy, and without too much effort. And as he noticed Green still standing there, he decided that that was EXACTLY what he was going to do.
Keeping the glare he had, and aiming it at the young Le-matoran, Killer raised his axe and Green braced himself, as Killer then looked threateningly into the young Le-matorans eyes, and said: "You really believe that I am threatened, by YOU"?!
And with that, Killer raised his Axe in a battle-ready posture and charged towards the Le-matoran. War Machine tried to stop him, aiming his missile launcher at him and attempting to fire it. A click was all that emerged. War Machine looked surprised to the missile launcher, noticing it was empty. NOW War Machine was horrified as he looked over in the le-matorans direction, noticing how he refused to run or cower in any sort of fear. But why?, War Machine wondered. Was this matoran really that dumb? War Machine just looked away then, in horror of what he feared was to come next.
Paradox almost forced himself to stand back up, then shouting with a loud voice filled with fear: "GREEN, GET OUT NOW"!
But even now, Green remained still, and not moving as he fought the ever growing fear of this charging Makutacon's now horrifying image, filled with an intense rage. For regardless of what this Makutacon said, or did or threatened to do, that tugging urge Green felt to help his friends get out of this alive would still be there. It was there when he ran from that first fight Ketongu had, and he felt it before Gahu had died. If all ignoring that feeling was going to do was get people killed, then Green would ignore it no longer.
So Green waited for what the growing fear made feel like seconds before Green then removed a right hand from behind his back, revealing the Sphere he had been holding onto all of this time. As to why he had it with him at this moment, it was because he had heard the other Toa talk about how powerful the Bioformer energy readings were on these things, said reading being off of the scale. Surely that meant that if Killer tried to use it lets say, the wrong way, it would destroy him. And that was EXACTLY what Green was going to do.
As Killer continued rushing towards him, a great hatred filled his light. A hatred not only for this small Le-matoran who dared to challenge him, but also for the Turaga who exiled them. And the Matoran who didn't do a thing. And the Autobots, and the Toa, and the Toabots who dared to keep the Makutacons from succeeding in their goal to achieve revenge by giving these people and all of their leaders what they deserved. As he then raised his axe, he saw the Le-matoran rush forward, holding the... The SPHERE!
In an intense rage, Killer attempted to swing his axe down at the deluded Le-matoran. Fighting the urges that told him to run away, Green put all of the strength he could muster into his arms and legs, then tossing the Sphere at Killers face in a punching motion, then rolling past Killers charging form, barely dodging Killers axe swing. The Sphere embedded itself deep into Killers face, a burning pain surging through it as Killer rolled across the floor, dropping the axe and screaming loudly in the intense pain.
As Green then rolled himself up against the side of one of the many pews, sitting against it and suddenly feeling a great dread fill his light as he watched Killer claw furiously at his own face in an attempt to get the Sphere out. As Killer tried again and again to pull it out, his hands received shocks from said Sphere and the inside of his face made a visible glow of an electric shade of purple, making the pain much more intense and painful.
"NOOOOOOOOOO"!, Killer screamed out before the light became brighter and his head and the Sphere blew into metal bits that clattered all over the floor, being followed by a massive wave of the purple liquid that filled it, his now deceased body collapsing to the ground.
Ava's eyes widened in shock as she stared at the corpse. "He did it." She grinned. "He actually did it!"
Iris chuckled. "Of course he did. Was there really any doubt?"
Ava pouted at Iris, which only made Iris laugh. Meanwhile, Diego and Amber gave each other a high five. "Yeah!" Diego cheered. "Alright, way to go, Green!"
"Knew he had it in him!" Amber grinned.
Tali chuckled softly at her friends' excitement before she let out a sigh of relief and whispered, "Thank you, Lord."
But Green was filled with close to no happiness as he looked down at Killer's corpse, devastated at both the gory sight and by what he had just done. With eyes full of horror, he immediately started to regret saving Paradox in the way he just did. SURELY, he could've done something else in this case! He just KILLED this guy! Sure, Killer was going to kill Paradox if he didn't do something, but STILL! Why couldn't there have been a better way? A way that DIDN'T involve blood on his hands. Because of HIM, the rest of Killers life, what he would be, what he COULD'VE been was... GONE. And it was all thanks to him.
Tali noticed Green's slumped posture and relieved by what was going on through his head. It had been the same thing when she had made her first kill. The horrible feeling of what have she had done, mixed with guilt, regret and a bit of self-hatred that took weeks to get over. The constant question of why and that there could've been a better way had nagged at her and haunted her dreams for some time. But in this case, there had been no other way. It was either kill or be killed. Standing up, she walked over quickly to Green and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and told him the same thing her superior had told her that day. "It had to be done, Green. There was no other way."
Green looked up at Tali, his eyes still filled with the horrified regret as he responded: "I know but... I killed him". Then looking back down at the floor: "Why does that feel so..."
"Green"., Paradox lightly said, then waiting for Green to look to him before he replied with a voice of understanding: "Though you deeply terrified me, you still succeeded in doing the right thing". "The very thing I did not want to do, regardless of how hard I tried to".
Green remained silent, still unsure of himself at the moment. Here his friends were, trying to tell him he did the right thing, yet in his light it felt so wrong. And it hurt like a part of himself had just been broken into pieces.
Amber walked up to stand next to Tali. She nodded in agreement with Paradox's words. "He's right. Killer didn't leave anyone any choice. It had to be done, there was no other way around it."
Tali smiled in gratitude to Amber. 'She sure has a way with words. She could be quite the politician if she wanted to.' Tali snickered to herself. 'Yeah, right, like that was going to happen.'
Upon hearing this, Green gave a simple nod, then bowing his head in an intense prayer of which he asked The Lord to forgive him, understanding fully what it was like to kill. Often times he would hear others joke about death and killing, never taking into consideration what it really felt like to have the horror in his light of knowing he had basically just committed murder. And now that he did, he knew in his light that this wasn't the first time he would have to do it. Now that he had just killer this Makutacon leader, more would be after him. So in that moment, he also asked forgiveness for the kills he would have to make in this horrid war. That was, if there would even be a war now.
Then looking back up at Paradox, Green asked: "Is the war over"?
Paradox looked saddly down at the ground, wishing he could say the opposite as he then told Green: "No". "As much as will admit that it was, it is not over yet".
Tali let her jaw drop in disbelief as she looked up at Paradox. "What?"
Alyan threw up his hands and threw his head back a bit as if annoyed. "Aw, man!"
Amber facepalmed herself and let her hand run down her face before looking up at Paradox, suddenly feeling exhausted. "Are you serious?"
Ava crossed her arms and looked at the others lightly complaining and muttered, "This sounds familiar".
Thankfully, no one heard her as Diego asked in a sarcastic tone, "Great, who do we fight next?" Which earned him an annoyed glare from Iris.
Paradox nodded to Ambers exclamation as he then answered: "We will still have this war, for Killer was only the third in command to the massive Makutacon army".
If Tali was surprised before she was floored now as her eyes widened in shock. She didn't hear Ava and Iris's snickers behind her as she tried not to yell. "THIRD IN COMMAND?!" She quickly cleared her throat and continued in a normal tone. "Then, who is the first?"
War Machine let out a loud groan before then asking: "Can we talk about this later"? "My leg's broken to heck".
Green looked to War Machine then, about to make an apology for killing Killer before War Machine lifted a hand and told him: "You were very brave back there kid". "You did something that no other sane matoran would've done". "And for that, you have my respect".
As much as Green still wanted to debate whether or not putting Killer down was right or not, he remained silent, unwilling to start an argument with an injured Toabot. Instead, Green forced a smile and joked: "Oh so now I'm crazy"?
War Machine managed a grins before then making another exclamation and saying: "Again, I'd be laughing if I wasn't purpling on the floor".
Tali chuckled at War Machine's words before she turned to look at him. Seeing the amount of purple on the floor, she walked over to War Machine with a concerned look in her eyes. "I think I might be able to do a temporary patch on your wound until we can get you some professional help." She studied the wound a bit and realized that her water power would not be enough to patch it up. Looking over her shoulder, she called. "Amber, could you please help me with this?"
"Sure thing." Amber called back as she hurried over to Tali's side. Tali showed her the wound and the two muttered softly to each other before Tali turned back to War Machine. "Now, this is going to be very cold but it's the only thing we can think of. Just hold still."
With that said, Tali proceeded to wash the blood away from the wound. once she was done with that, Amber quickly followed and used her ice powers to create a cast of ice over it.
"There," Amber said when she was finished. "That will hold until we get you to a medic."
"Luckily for all of us, Medic is one of my many ranks"., Rack said as he entered the church, walking in War Machine and Paradox's direction. "And personally, I think it's about time I did something other than fighting for a bit".
Paradox smiled warmly up at his friend and asked with a hint of humor: "Then I will assume that there is time for two patients"?
Rack smiled back at Paradox's beaten form and jokingly responded: "Of course you old slagger"., earning a laugh from Paradox and War Machine. Then looking down at War Machines injured form, he said: "I'll get done with you quicker, so I'll start with you". Then looking quickly to Amber, he asked her: "Any chance you could unfreeze that"? "Don't worry, I'm a chiropractor".
Amber took breath to fight down the annoyance that had started to build in her chest. She had just froze that wound over, after all. But she nodded instead and smiled up at Rack. "Sure thing, Rack". Turning to War Machine, she proceeded to thaw the ice patch, silently hoping that the wound didn't start bleeding again yet. Thankfully, it didn't as the last of the ice fell away. She turned to Rack and announced with a hint of humor, "There you go, Doc".
Giving Amber a quick smile, Rack told her: "Thank ya"., before then leaning down to War Machines left side, and looking at the broken leg for a bit, examining the bone that stuck out, using the scope on his left eye. A few seconds later, Rack looked up at the others and asked: "Anybody have a cloth of some sort"?
Green looked over to Rack, an eyebrow raised as he asked: "What for"?
"For War Machine to bite down on"., Rack responded. Then looking back down at War Machine: "This is going to hurt, but it'll work".
War Machine simply shrugged and responded: "Meh, I've had worse"., causing Rack to roll his eyes.
Realizing what Rack was going to do, Tali quickly looked away, muttering a low, "Oh no."
The others caught on to what Rack was referring to as well. Diego quickly lowered his audios and motioned for Iris to do the same as Alyan stepped back a few paces before turning and running for cover behind a wrecked pew and covered his ears and tightly as he could. Ava simply turned a different shade of green and ran outside through a side door.
Rack tilted his head as he watched how these Toa all reacted to what he said he was going to do. Then shaking his head as he heard Ava vomit, he quietly thought: SERIOUSLY what was it with people and these kinds of things? It wasn't all THAT bad!
"It's not that bad"., Rack told them. "To be honest, it's always been a bit educational for me". "I grew up watching this stuff as a child".
Green widened his eyes a bit as he looked over to Rack and responded: "Not to offend you Rack, but that's a little odd for a child".
Amber shifted her weight from side to side, clearly uneasy and wanting to run behind a wall or under a pew as well. "Sorry, Rack." She said as she started to create some distance between herself and the two Toabots. "It's just, we didn't really enjoy that part of our education." Thinking to herself, 'More like we hated it. None of us could stand that class for even five minutes! It's a miracle we made it through with passing grades.'
Rack let out a long sigh before then responding: "It's forgiven". Then turning back to War Machine's injury, he rolled his eyes, muttering: "Kids today"., as he then began to lower his hands to War Machines injured leg.
Ops almost ran inside, worried greatly for Tali's safety. Not only was he worried about being responsible for the death of two of Tahu and Gali's children, but he was also worried that she'd die before he told her his growing feelings for her. Regardless of how important the mission was, he could NOT let anyone else, other than a Makutacon, to die today. And as he finally reached the inside, he felt a great relief wash over him as he gazed upon the beautiful blue and silver hau just ahead of him. Ops quietly let out a sigh in his current relief and bowed his head, silently thanking The Lord for answering his prayers.
Upon then finishing this prayer, Ops looked back at Tali, noticing the expression on her face as she watched Rack work on War Machines broken leg. Immediately seeing his chance to talk with this beautiful Toa a bit, Ops looked back to Tali, then calling: "Hey Tali, some of the others need help with something outside, you wanna tag along"?
Tali turned around and nearly melted in relief when she saw Ops standing there behind her. She found herself staring at him again, unable to stop herself from thinking about just how handsome he looked standing there in the doorway. She quickly looked down and then back up at him as she remembered his words and nodded quickly.
"Sure thing!" she smiled. "Let's go!" Silently, she thanked the Lord for having Ops get her out of there. She nearly thought she was going to follow Ava and loose her own lunch.
Feeling a positive surge in his spark, Ops silently motioned for Tali to follow him as he started to make his way back outside, away from the surgery that was about to take place.

As Ops continued to walk towards a grassy area, far from the abandoned, old and half-destroyed city, he started to feel greatly ashamed of himself, realizing as Tali followed him that he had not said a single thing to her. What is WRONG with you?!, Ops quietly scolded himself. Just SAY something! Say what? Oh, you mean tell her that you just dragged her out here just to FLIRT with her?! And after her brother just got his chest blown to bits!?
Ignoring his scolding self-response, Ops just decided to say the first thing that came to mind: "There's nothing to do really, I just heard what Rack was saying and I thought about letting you watch-, a mischievous grin spreading on his face before changing it back to normal:- but in the end, I couldn't force myself".
Tali let her jaw drop at Ops' words. "Ops! Why you...!"She couldn't believe it! This Autobot had actually considered leaving her to watch that surgery?! But he had come and got her away from it anyway. Well, she was grateful for that. Having lost her original train of thought, she resorted to punching Ops lightly on the shoulder, laughing a bit to show she wasn't really mad at him. "I'm glad you got me out of there." She chuckled. "I don't think I would've been able to handle it."
Ops gave Tali a smile, then responding: "Yeah, I was thinking about that too". Then smiling as he said: "Also, another thought popped into my head as we uh... started walking out here"., then looking down at the grass with shut eyes, resisting the urge to facepalm.
What are you DOING?!, Ops thought to himself. She's gonna think you're some sort of weirdo now! Wasn't it bad enough that he and Tali had gotten embarrassed by Ketongu just moments earlier?! Apparently not., Ops silently scolded, almost shaking his head as he just kept his eyes closed and refused to look at what he still thought was the most Beautiful girl he had ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Tali turned to look at Ops with curiosity. 'I wonder what he could be thinking.' She thought to herself, tilting her head to the side to get a better look of his face. 'Is it about the battle? My brother? No, he couldn't have been thinking about Gahu, he didn't sound that upset. Hmmm.' Her mind started to stray as she let her eyes roam over this handsome Autobot's features. Quickly, she shook her head to clear her thoughts.
Still keeping his eyes closed, Ops replied: "Well..."
Tali raised an eyebrow this time and stepped a bit closer to Ops. "Well?"
Finally managing to think of a way out, Ops opened his eyes and gave Tali a humorous grin, responding: "I thought about how cool I must have looked with my eyes closed".
If Tali had been an anime, she probably would've hit the ground right now. Instead, she burst out laughing hard. "Ops, you silly!" She managed to get out between breaths. The laughter continued a minute longer before she managed to calm down, reducing the laughter to snickers. Grinning brightly, she looked up at Ops. "Oh, what am I going to do with you?" As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt a slight pang of sorrow as those were the same words she would constantly tell Gahu when he had said or done something completely hilarious. She kept her smile on her face though, making sure not to give away any hints of the impact of the words.
Ops smiled a bit at Tali's laugh, noticing the sort of adorable rhythm it had in his audio receptors, and at the same time noticing how much faster his spark had beated upon hearing it. Ops almost fell silent there, quietly scolding himself again. Silently, he told himself: STOP it! You're making yourself look like an idiot already. Do NOT flirt with her today Ops, not after everything she's lost today. Surely after she had heard news of her brothers murder, drama was the LAST thing she needed.
Instead, Ops told her, a hint of humor in his voice: "You could expect me to just mess up every serious situation possible". "Or, maybe you could tell me what you like to do on your spare time"?
Tali froze a bit at the request, her mind whirling with possible answers. 'Yikes, what should I answer? I don't want to ramble on like an idiot and embarrass myself. But I can't have him wait too long for an answer either. I need to come up with a quick summary fast!' Quickly she goes through her memories for her most enjoyable moments. 'Ah, perfect!' Satisfied that she now had an answer, she turned to Ops.
"Alright. When I'm not practicing my archery or riding the waves with my friends, I like to go out to the cove that is near my home and just explore the tide pools there with my golden retriever, Lhikan." Quickly, she added, just in case he commented on the name choice, "Yes, I named him after the Toa Mangai of Fire." She smiled at the chuckle and continued. "And in the afternoons, I would climb up to my favorite spot at the top of the hill that overlooks the cove and watch the sunsets from there." Her mind shifted gears. 'What if he also wants to know what I do when the days are rainy?' Quickly, she remembers. "But that's only when the day is fair. On rainy days, I like to curl up by my window seat with a good book and some of my favorite music playing in the background or play one of the board games in the library." She paused, both because she was done and to get her breath back. 'I hope he accepts my answer,' she thought. 'That's all I can remember right now'
Ops simply nodded in response, a smile of interest on his face as he responded: "Both of those sound nice". "Anything you like do on the REALLY good days, when no one else is around"?
Now there, Ops almost DID facepalm. REALLY Ops?, he thought. A little TOO deep, don't you think. Oh be quiet., the other part of him silently responded. Yes, she had lost a brother and YES, Ops wished he could've made it otherwise, but since that clearly didn't happen, the only thing he could do to make things better on himself and Gahu's... AMAZINGLY beautiful sister, was ask forgiveness from The Lord and at least give Tali a friend to whom she could talk about her brother.
Again, Tali was at a loss for words and quickly searched her memories again for an answer. And what she got filled her with embarrassment. 'Oh no, not that.' She thought. 'Anything but that!' But sadly, it was the only thing that she did that answered Ops' question. Feeling an embarrassed blush burn her cheeks, she started to stutter a bit. "Well...I...uh...I like to sing." 'Better clarify that answer a bit more, girl.' she told herself. "But I only do it when I'm sure no one is there to hear me. Not even my family has heard me sing before."
"Ah, so you're a sing in the shower kind of girl"., Ops jokingly responded. Then jokingly adding in: "Thanks for the nightmares"., a smirk on his face.
Okay, so not the response she was expecting! Tali quickly looked up at Ops in shock and feigned hurt, but she could not stop the giggle that was tickling the back of her throat. Smiling, she smacked his upper arm lightly with a scoff. "I do not sing in the shower, thank you."
Ops gave Tali a smile, letting her know that he was kidding before then asking: "But seriously, no one else has heard you"? "I bet you're pretty good".
If Ops had made a clone of himself, the clone probably would've knocked him on his butt once it realized how weird and dumb that next statement sounded. Was he SERIOUSLY suggesting that her mere looks gave him the impression that she was a good singer? In his head, he silently made a face-palm and let out an aggravated sigh in despair. Just WHEN was he gonna start treating this femme like a NORMAL Toa? Better yet, was there even a chance that he WOULD before Tali would do his imaginative clones job FOR him?
Tali smiled softly and looked down at the ground, the same old insecurity gnawing at her stomach again. "I don't know." Her gaze turned sad as she continued. "Gahu heard me, once. I was unaware of his presence." She smiled sadly at the memory. "He told me later that I sounded great, but I didn't believe him."
Ops came close to chuckling upon hearing this, but instead decided to stay serious upon seeing her saddened expression and, in wanting to make her feel better, instead asked her: "You uh, think you'd be ready to let somebody else try and be the judge of that"?
Fear washed over her, causing her light to quicken a bit at the thought of singing in front of Ops. 'Here?!' A part of her screamed. 'Now?! Is he out of his mind?! No way! Forget it!' 'Oh, hush.' The calmer side of her said. 'It's obvious he's interested and besides, he was your brother's friend. Come on, do it! If it makes you feel better, just imagine that Gahu is here too.' Calming down, Tali swallowed as much of her fear as possible.
"R...really? I mean, I..." she lets out a sigh to calm herself further. "I guess it wouldn't hurt. What song
would you like me to sing?" In her mind she added, 'Cause I have no idea what to sing right now.'
Ops was silent for a bit as he looked to the sky, evidently trying to think it over. But as Ops continued to think, his mind went blank, unable to come up with any sort of answer. In those few seconds, it eventually got so frustrating that he had to silently pray just so he wouldn't be the reason for another long silence. But then, as it finally hit him, Op's eyes almost widened. No. No Ops. Not that song. You pick it, and then she'll DEFINITELY be on to you! But as he looked back at Tali who was still patiently waiting, as much as he hated to admit it, he didn't have any other choices than this.
"Well ok if it's me picking, then... Do you know Angel by casting crowns"?, Ops nervously asked, horrifyingly unsure of whether or not Tali would catch on to the reason of his choice.
Tali raised an eyebrow as she ran the title over in her head. She knew she had heard that song before, it was just a matter of...oh, there it is! Now she remembered! Now, how did the lyrics go again? "Mmm, yes, I do know that song. Is it the one that goes...?" Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, she focused on the song, hearing the melody in her head and sang.
"It was a day
Just like any other day
I was a boy
Just like every other boy
But when the girl
Unlike any I had seen
It's like she stepped out of a dream
And into my world"
For a split second, Tali frowned a bit as she thought over the words, trying to think why Ops had chose this song, but left it to focus on the words again. She'd figure it out later.
"Could it have been the summer wind
Playing with her hair
As the sun danced in her eyes
We were standing there
She smiled I forgot my name
'Cause all I was thinking
Maybe I'm crazy but I'm praying
That an angel would love me
An angel would love me
Maybe I'm a fool but I'm still falling
Asking heaven above me
For an angel to love me
The rest of my life"
Unsure if she should continue, she paused right there and lowered her head, unsure if she should look at Ops and nervous about how he would respond. her face turned red with her nervous blush again and she tilted her head to the side to try and hide it.
Ops's eyes widened in total disbelief. From the beginning to end, as Tali had sung each lyric close to perfectly, he was absolutely amazed. The beauty of her voice made his spark beat what felt like a hundred times faster than it had been before. HOW?!, Ops wondered. How was it that someone could sing this beautifully?! That someone could sing a song in front of him in a manner of which he could listen to for hours simply because he loved the sound of her dream-like voice?! Regardless of the reason, impressed was an intense understatement for how Ops felt upon listening to that.
Tali kept her head down for what felt to her like years. 'Why isn't he saying anything?' She wondered. 'Did he like it? Hated it? Did I get off key somewhere? Oh man, I know that was the correct song, but still...this tension is really getting to me. Why isn't he saying something?!' Finally, she turned her head to look at Ops in expectation for his response.
Noticing Tali's silence, Ops immediately told her: "Now, I don't care what anyone else says, that was amazing".
Upon hearing this, Tali felt such relief that she couldn't help but to laugh a bit, more at herself for worrying so much in the first place. "You really liked it?" Of course, it wouldn't hurt to double check, after all he could just be saying that to make her feel good. Then again, Gahu did say she had a good voice so...
Ops widened his eyes further and smiled brightly as he responded: "You kidding"? "Tali you were on FIRE". "After hearing THAT, I'm actually surprised you're not famous". "Plus, I have to admit that if you made a CD, I'd probably be the first customer in line". Then looking apologetically (and a bit embarrassed) at Tali: "I'm sorry, was that a little too much"?
Tali couldn't help it, she burst out laughing at his complements. Laying a hand on his arm for support, she responded, "No, not at all. In fact I found it very sweet." 'No one has ever complemented me like that before in my life!' She thought to herself as she smiled up at Ops. "Thank you, Ops."
Ops ducked his head a bit, hoping it would hide a massive blush he felt forming on his cheek plates as he responded: "Well, thanks for uh, you know, everything". Then feeling the question come into his thought processors, Ops then asked, with a hint of worry in his voice: "If this war really does continue, do you think we'll be seeing more of each other"?
Tali's smile fades and she looks down, considering her answer, unaware that her thumb was rubbing circles on Ops arm.
Tali: It's a possibility. But who's to say what can happen tomorrow? We might be put on the same team or my team and I could be assigned elsewhere. I don't know. I just pray that, whatever happens, we do get to see each other again. Sorry, I'm sounding ridiculous, aren't I?
Ops offered Tali the kindest smile he could give, looking into her eyes as he told her: "Not at all"., then
giving her a look of questioning matter: "And if you want, we could both run it by the council".
Tali looked up at Ops and gave him her brightest smile. "I think that is a great idea."
Ops smiled back at her, almost caught up in the silence as he gazed upon her beautiful kanohii Hau. Though Ops would refuse to admit it to her now, he could admit to anyone else easily that he was absolutely bewildered by how beautiful this Toa of water was. Just... HOW? And better yet, while he still thought about it, how was she not already dating or married yet? If it was him, he'd probably take her in a heartbeat. Better yet, was this God at work, showing him who he was destined to be with? As he fought the urge still to just stay silent, he instead decided to respond further to Talis statement.
"I'll try and get into contact with them, see if they've got anything else on schedule for either one of us".
Ops looked to his side then, seeing all the Toa load into Autobots and Toabot, Billy honking a horn for the two to hurry up with whatever they were doing. Ops responded with a half raised hand, telling him he'd be there in a second.
Tali followed his gaze in time to see her team load up as well. A part of her wanted to go with them as she locked eyes with Iris. But another part of her told her to stay with Ops a bit longer. Iris made a motion to the Autobot with her head. Tali shook hers and motioned for her to go on. Iris held her gaze for a minute longer before nodding in understanding and turned to join the others. After making sure all her team was ready to leave, Tali turned to Ops. "Mind if I tag along?" Her thoughts went to her parents, who were also members of the Council. " I haven't spoken to my parents in a long time. It would be good to see them again." She couldn't help the excited smile at the thought of seeing her parents again. It had been so long, she was tempted to say almost a lifetime ago.
Ops smiled again, responding: "Course I wouldn't mind"., then transforming into a flat-fronted red semi, small enough for Tali to ride on what was technically the trunk. "Now, considering we're both about equally sized, I could just allow you to ride on my trunk"., Ops further told her. Then calmly cautioning: "Just don't touch the area between the back of the truck and the wall in front of it, OK"?, then following it with a silent face-palm. Did you REALLY have to say that?!, he silently thought, feeling a blush form where his face was now hidden from view.
Tali blinked in surprise, a bit taken aback at Ops' words. 'Why would he warn me about that area?' she wondered. 'What could be so...' Then it dawned on her what it could be. 'Oh, that's why.' She fought to prevent the blush that was threatening to show as she stepped forward. "Alright." Climbing into Ops' trunk, she made extra sure that she avoided going anywhere near the area she had been warned of. If it was what she thought it was, she didn't even want to think about it.
As Ops then followed the others on the road, Ops couldn't help but notice how light Tali was as she continued to stand on the trunk, holding on to the roof a bit in case of a turn. Seriously, if he wanted, he'd let her ride in his trunk all day. He gave himself a mental face-palm as he then though of how mean that would've sounded if he were a human. Of course he was meaning something different due to the lack of room inside for any actual Toa to enter, but nonetheless he still could've tried to think of a nicer was to... think about this? Nevermind., Ops thought, then directing just enough attention towards Tali's crouched form on his trunk to still be able to pay attention to the road, and, unknown to Tali, admire her beauty, then thanking The Lord for putting someone like her in his life.
Keeping her eyes on the road ahead of her and Ops, Tali let her mind wander to the last few hours and how much her life had changed so drastically in such a short mount of time. First, she meets the Toabots, a group of amazing beings that are willing to give everything just to protect Bionicle and human alike. Then, she learns that her beloved twin brother, with whom she had shared so much of her life with, had been murdered by the leader of the Makutacons, the enemy of the Toabots. That had been a hard blow to her. She had been so excited to come home, see him again, then both go and surprise their parents and then drag him to the beach to go surf. She gave a small smile at that memory. But now, he was gone and it felt like half of her light had just vanished. But then she met Ops, change number three. Wow, where to start with him. Other than being just absolutely handsome...seriously, how can he NOT have girls falling at his feet?, he was also very kind, loving ,caring and he had a noble spark. But she could also see that his spark was hurting from the loss of his friends and she didn't want him to feel that he had to go through that alone. Glancing down at the top of his cab, she smiled to herself, thanking God in her light for bringing him into her life.
As Billy rode inside Racks vehicle mode, he turned his beetle-like head to notice Tali as she rode happily on Ops's trunk, an understanding smile forming on his face. Finally, he thought. His best friend was finally getting someone who could get him to open up a bit more than he was before, something that would benefit him well. And who knows?, Billy thought. Maybe one day, they'll have the same future together as him and Outilisa had now. With the exception of no children of course. Nonetheless, all Billy could hope for now, was a bright future for the both of them.

Biomarvel: Uh-oh, another romance. (chuckle) And just how are both of these love birds gonna get the word out, you might be wondering? Or is it maybe about how things will be between the Turaga and the Toabots? Well, for now, those questions will have to wait for later. (looks to Galem) Are you enjoying co-writting this story so far?
