Chapter 41: Victory and Memory
As everyone then pulled into the Council Base, all in a single file line to be mindful of traffic, Ops had actually started to worry a bit about what he had proposed to Tali. Of course he would want to engage in a relationship with her at some point in time, the only problem with that, however, was that their laws prohibited Transformers and Bionicles from having romantic relationships of any sort. With that being the main issue, Ops was starting to hate being an Autobot. Deciding to let these thoughts wait a moment, Ops followed the other Toabots in action and parked just a few feet away from the council base, allowing Tali to jump off as he turned off his driving systems.
As Tali jumped off of Ops' vehicle form, the only thing that rang in the forefront of her mind was, 'How in the world am I going to tell my parents about Gahu?'. She felt her stomach tie in a knot with worry. The last thing she wanted to do was ruin such a happy day with such light breaking news. She took a deep breath to calm herself. 'I'll cross that bridge when I come to it', she thought as she stretched the blood back into her legs and looked around the Council base. The sight banished all her nervousness away and brought a smile to her face.
"Wow, it feels like I've been gone for longer than three years." She made a full turn as memories of coming to the Council base as a child flooded her mind. "I wonder how much has changed since I left?"
Ops watched her stretch a bit before she had turned, feeling amazed by just how gracefully she had done it and becoming caught up in a daze, then giving himself a mental face palm as she turned to him, then quickly reverting to robot mode and looking to Tali with a curious expression as he asked her: "Wait, gone where"?
Tali managed to stop herself from widening her eyes as she realized her mistake and mentally facepalmed. 'Oh great.' She thought. 'I just had to say it, didn't I?' She was so glad the others were not here right now. Keeping a straight face, she responded in a calm, almost uninterested voice, "Oh, the others and I were deployed to a team on one of the uninhabited moons for training, Lots of Rahi, perfect place to keep you on your toes." She swallowed, fighting memories of her time in that place before continuing. "We were there for a year and a half before something wreaked the place. Never found out what it was, since we had to run for our lives. We stayed on the moon for another year and a half, keeping ahead of the creature before we finally were able to send a beacon and get a ride home." She gave a mental sigh of relief and quietly pleaded for Ops to not press the subject, hoping that her casual tone was enough to make it sound like it was normal. 'He's not going to let it go, you know.' A part of her said. 'He is so going to ask you more about it.' Tali tried to ignore it.
Ops stopped himself then, silently putting Tali's story together in his head and trying to figure out just what she was running from as he then asked her: "Ok wait a minute, was this thing... big"? "Did it look robotic in any way at all"?
'Toldja!' The part of her cheered. Tali made a mental eye roll before bringing up those memories, thinking them over. "It was pretty big." She said slowly. "And I could tell it was robotic by the way the sunlight would reflect off of its armor." She shook her head to rid herself of the images and turned to Ops. "We only got glimpses of it, until..." He voice trailed off as another memory, clearer than any of the others, shoved its way to the forefront of her mind. Her eyes widened at the images. "That day at the cave!" She exclaimed. Oh, yes, she remembered that day very well. She turned her attention back to Ops. "We were taking shelter in a cave high in the mountains when the creature in the forest below us. We peered out to see where it was, careful to not be seen." She fought down another memory of that day, when Iris and Aylan had pressed themselves flat against a wall in the back of the cave, refusing to look outside. "At first, it was just the trees swaying, but then I saw it." She saw the image of the deadly, spiked tail flash above the tree tops for just a second or two. "Just a quick glimpse but it was enough to give me the impression that it was some kind of...scorpion."
Ops's spark nearly stopped as he heard the word scorpion. A SCORPION?! As in the Scorpio Makutacon they had just token down?! As of now, Ops looked a bit scared and concerned for the beautiful Ga-toa who stood before him. But Ops paused those thoughts for a second as he heard the word beautiful enter his mind and looked her over. Ops made sure Tali wasn't looking as he widened his eyes. How did this female Toa not have EVERYONE falling in love with her?!, Ops thought. She was AMAZING! Her hau was beautiful, her body structure more than amazed him, and even her voice sounded like a melody. Ops gave himself a silent and hidden facepalm then as he wondered just how on earth he was going to keep himself behaving like a normal Autobot around this female.
Ops kept his eyes widened and tried to make it look like a concerned expression as he then asked her: "Did it ever stand up, or... anything like that"?
Tali frowned as she searched the memories once again for the answer. She didn't remember ever seeing it stand up or anything like that, but there was one thing she had always thought was...off about it. During one of the days that it had chased them, she had heard something weird from it but she never looked back to see what it was. "I don't recall if it did. I did hear it make a strange sound, but I didn't risk looking back."
Ops then turned to the sound of truck engines running as they pulled in. At first, Ops was a bit curious, noticing that the size of these trucks were much larger than that of his own semi-truck transformation. His curiosity grew a bit more as he then saw numerous Toa unload from said truck and open the trunk. Ops readied himself for anything then, keeping his eyes on the truck as the Toa then attempted to tug something out on a flat platform. Ops lowered his half-readied arms then upon seeing the Toa pull out Scorpios body, dragging it via platform across the concrete ground.
Ops let out a silent sigh of relief, knowing that they were obviously bringing these bodies in for study. Good thing too. If they were about to get involved in a war like this, it would do them all a lot of good if they knew just where these guys weak-points were. Billy had found one to be the eyes, but that one was a little too obvious. They needed to know if there were more in case of another attack.
Then remembering what Tali had said a few seconds earlier, Ops pointed to the dead Makutacon and asked her: "You mean like that thing"?
Tali shifted her gaze to look in the direction Ops was pointing. Her eyes flew wide open and she gasped as a wave of nostalgia at the sight of the Makutacon's body. "That...That's the creature! That's the one that attacked us on the moon!"
"Seriously"?!, Ops asked her in a tone of surprise. "This thing's been after us for the past two days now". "The day we saw it, we hid in the trees". "The next day, we tried to take it down, but nothing worked". We used our guns, my friends used their mask powers, and elemental powers". "Not even a dent". "Lucky enough for us, Billy managed to find a weak spot in it's armor today". "Least that was what I was told".
Tali looked up at Ops in concern. 'What?!' She thought. 'That thing chased Ops and his friends too? Good thing it's dead now or I would have killed it myself. How dare it go after Ops!' She blinked in surprise at her thoughts. 'Wait, why am I being so protective of him? I mean sure I'm protective of everyone I'm close to but, I've never felt THIS protective before. And why to him? Yes, he is very attractive, downright handsome actually.' She mentally facepalmed. 'Did I just seriously think that?' An approaching figure caught her eye and she turned to see Turaga Lesovikk walking towards them. She raised an eyebrow in confusion. 'Turaga Lesovikk?' she wondered. 'What is he doing here?'
Turaga Lesovikk stopped in front of the Toa and the Autobot, smiling kindly up at them as he told them: "Greetings Toa, I do believe the victory of this battle went to all of you"?
Tali had the fight to stop the little girl inside her from grinning brightly at the elder who had helped raise her. Managing to keep a straight face and a calm voice, she followed the old tradition and bowed to the Turaga. "Indeed, Turaga Lesovikk. The Lord had helped us greatly to achieve this victory."
Turaga Lesovikk chuckeled a bit at Talis bow as he responded: "Indeed, I believe he has". Then lightly tapping her back with his golden hammer and adding in a kind voice: "Also, there's no need to bow to me today". "For today, we have done nothing half as brave as you and the Toa Voya and the Toabots have done today". "Indeed, with The Lord on your side, together you are a force to be reckoned with". "A force I am greatly proud of helping to create". "Maybe you should have a chat with your dear brother while you're still out here, we have quite the surprise for all of you".
Ops looked sadly to the concrete ground upon hearing the mention of Gahus name. Then closing his eyes in pain as he once again saw Gahu's gruesome image pop up in his head. Why couldn't I have just DONE something?!, Ops wondered. I could've pushed him out of the way! Sure, then it'd be me taking the bullet, but it'd definitely be a lot better if it was him than Gahu! Now, because he didn't do anything, two Turaga who's stories as Toa he had greatly admired, had lost a son who was in his light, better than Ops in every way. Unable to open his eyes to look at Tali as a tear flowed from his eyes, he turned himself and just walked away, with a heavy weight on his spark.
Lesovikk watched Ops leave with a face of curiosity, but decided to let him go. From the looks of it, whatever was wrong with Ops, he probably needed to be alone with it for a while. He could only pray that wherever Ops would go, that he would leave with a better peace of mind.
Tali felt her light ache again at the mention of her brother, reminding her that he was gone. Hearing footsteps leaving, she straightened and turned to watch Ops walk away. "Oh, Ops." she softly muttered, knowing what was wrong. Her light hurt more as she longed to run over and comfort him, but she had to tell the Turaga what had happened so she stood still and turned back to Lesovikk. She fought to keep the tears from falling and swallowed the lump that had suddenly formed in her throat. In the back of her mind, she could hear her voice screaming Gahu's name wen she had been told the news. A tear fell from her eyes as she mustered the courage to speak. "I'm...sorry, Turaga. But I won't be able to speak to Gahu again." Her voice cracked and cleared her throat. Taking a deep breath, she continued. "It is with a heavy heartlight that I report that Toa Gahu was killed today by Makutacon leader, Killer." Now she knew how hard it had been for Ops to tell her back there on the battlefield. It was one thing to hear it, but another to actually say it and admit to yourself to your loved one was indeed gone.
Lesovikks gaze turned sad as he then looked to the concrete floor, already regretting the news he had just heard, being unable to help but feel that he was partly responsible. He DID make this war start in a way, being unable to see just how blind-sighted he was in exiling them like that. If he had just made the right choice all those years ago, perhaps this never would've happened. Plus, he DID also make Gahu into a Toa. But in his defense, it was because he saw something great in him. Something similar to another brave and compassionate Toa whom he had spent most of his Toa-life training. Something in the spirit that would be hard to find in most other Toa. A sort of compassionate love for everyone including his enemies, regardless of who they may be. Just like M-...
Lesovikk took his mind off of those thoughts then, turning to one of the Council bases clear windows where Turagas Tahu and Gali sat in each others embrace across from Turaga Jala who was evidently making some form of an apology. Then he saw the three smile, all immediately laughing. This pained Lesovikks light all the more in knowing that he was about to give two friends a saddening obituary in a moment of happiness. But in order to spare Tali of more pain, he would do it anyways. It was one way of repaying Gahu for his amazing bravery in this fight.
"I will go tell them"., Turaga Lesovikk told her. Then looking up at her: "You've clearly been through enough pain for one day". "But Ops, he's lost more friends than any of us can count". "You think you and Billy could talk to him"? "Try and bring a bit of cheer to his mood"?
Hearing this from nearby, Billy approached the two, quickly responding: "Of course sir".
Tali nodded, thankful that she was not going to have to tell her parents the news. "Yes, sir."

Paradox couldn't help but smile as he and the other five Toabots all stood together, centered in the large council room with each Turaga sitting in their desks before them, finally willing to do something with them other than fight. Even now as each of the Toabots thought about what had happened all of those years ago, all the fighting they had doing for these people, they couldn't help but feel The Lord at work, restoring peace between them at long last. And indeed the feeling that they could live here again if the Turaga liked their answers, felt like an amazingly good relief, and an answered prayer.
For a while, each Turaga was silent, looking the Toabots over from where they all sat, some of them feeling amazed at both the sight of a Bionicle who could transform, and who didn't even bother with taking what could've been an easy revenge. Of course some had tried, but lucky enough for them, these ones were here to stop them, and to protect the very people who had hurt them. And it was because of these facts that the Turaga were not only relieved to finally have the Makutacons gone for a while, but also thankful to The Lord for allowing there to be a chance at redemption, and for bringing these Toabot protectors to save, guard and protect them.
Indeed how unbelievable it was that these Toabots had tried so hard to protect them, but they did and the Turaga, regardless of what decision that they made today, were sure that they could ever do anything that would repay their moral and brave actions today. For now, they guessed a decision was all they could make. In fact, it was Turaga Jaller who decided to break the seemingly long silence, and start off this meeting.
"So, remind us again what you guys call yourselves"?, Turaga Jaller asked them.
"Toabots sir"., Paradox answered.
"Hm"., Turaga Kopaka said from his seat, a voice of mild impression. "Clever, I guess"., earning a chuckle from Turaga Pohatu and a few other Turaga and Toabots.
Athena simply rolled her eyes with a shaking head as she chuckled as well. Sure, Toabots was a pretty easy name for them to think of once they thought of Autobots and Toa, sort of combining the two words into one that might sound silly to some others. But in their defense, it was the only name they had time to come up with once the whole war had actually started, so they couldn't exactly hold TOO much blame for how silly or ridiculous it might've sounded. In fact, back on Planet X, the proposed name was actually laughed at by a few of the squads, but nonetheless they agreed to it anyways.
Ketongu simply rolled an eye as he thought back to the day the name was made. There everyone was in what could easily be mistaken for a massive arena, as their leaders had actually come up with the name. Ketongu was actually one of the very people who had laughed at the name along with most of the crowd. But when he realized the name was sort of necessary, he decided it wouldn't be too bad of a name and decided to just run with it. Armor agreed 100% with the name, Rack was mildly impressed and War Machine simply shrugged. But either way, that was their name now, and they were sticking with it. Even if they were to get laughed at as they continued to protect all of Bionicle, Transformer and Human-kind.
Lesovikk stood then from his seat and said in a polite tone: "Though I am sorry for making demands as of right now Toabots, there is still something I still wish to understand before I make any final decisions". "Something that has been a real head scratch-er for quite some time now".
Armor smiled up at the Turaga in his desk and nodded, replying: "Very well, shoot".
Ketongu leaned to the others and quietly joked: "Don't mind the guns"., earning a chuckle from War Machine and Rack, rolled eyes from Paradox and a smack in the shoulder from Athena.
Not seeming to notice this, Lesovikk asked them: "Despite all of the disrespect we had showed your race all of those years ago, you came back". "And you came back to save us from those who rightfully wanted revenge". "Why exactly were you so strong-willed to do so, despite our cruel actions"?
Paradox was the one to step forward as the others heard that question, then replying: "Though I will admit that I used to struggle with the seemingly lightless act in my Liark, I eventually learned for myself in my time on Planet X, that revenge was never a cause worth fighting for". "In fact, when I read the history books of all three planets histories, I saw clearly with my own two eyes that revenge only causes chaos when it is placed in the hands of races such as us". "It creates fear strong enough to lead us astray from faith and a hatred strong enough to lead us away from the truth our Lord has taught us". "Keeping this knowledge in mind, we heard where the Makutacons were going and we saw the errors in what they intended to do". "In their weak-minded hatred, they came to destroy you all, despite the fact that sins like that, were the exact same kind of sins our Lord was crucified for, and raised to life for". "For when he later conquered death and rose from the grave, it gave us all a chance to be forgiven". "It was because of all Jesus suffered, and the mercy he still shows, that is our answer to your question". "That is the only reason we need to keep you in our Liarks as we continue to protect you". "And if that is your will, then we shall remain here and as their leader, I promise I will fight as hard as I possibly can to defend the earth from all Makutacons, for as long as need be".
As Paradox finished this answer, the Toabots all noticed the changing masks of the Turaga. Their expressions had all changed from curiosity to absolute amazement at this leaders words. Amazement over the fact that Paradox was so willing to forgive and protect them like he had today. And the battle scars they saw on him more than proved how determined this Toabot leader was to fulfill the very promise that he had just made to them. Even Lesovikk and Jaller looked convinced and happy at Paradox's answer.
All of this was enough to make Athena smile brightly at her husband, prouder now of the Toabot he had become than before. Armor, WM and Ketongu each gave the Turaga a nod, each agreeing fully with Paradox's words and agreeing to his promise to protect them. Rack gave them a simple smile, honestly too happy over Paradox's words to even try to speak right now. For surely if the Turaga had heard Paradox, and understood what he said, surely things were about to get better.
In a brief moment then, Lesovikk looked to the other twenty Turaga, who all nodded back with a happy and convinced expression, before then looking proudly to Paradox and responding: "Then we will gladly have you". "As the Lead-Turaga of this council, I declare that this law, preventing Bioformers from returning to earth is no longer in placement".
Ketongu widened his eye then. Was he seriously hearing this right?! Please tell me I'm not dreaming., Ketongu thought to himself, wanting now to make a cheer in victory. But of course since loud noises were prohibited in meetings such as this, for obvious reasons, he decided to stay quiet. Armor watched Ketongu closely, ready to stop him if he put a single finger anywhere near the radio in his chest, but also looked over to the Turaga, in an overjoyed surprise. War Machine let out a quiet sigh of relief, happy that all of his work was not all for nothing. Racks smile grew brighter as he heard the words emerge from the Turaga's mouths, now ecstatic. Athena had to fight the urge to hug and kiss her husband right here in front of the Turaga, deciding instead to lower her head and thank God that they were at long last, victorious.
"I will also declare that the law that prohibits Transformers and Bionicles from becoming romantically involved will also cease to exist"., Lesovikk continued. Seeing a few confused looks from two or three other Turaga, Lesovikk then said: "I believe it is time we had as many of you back as possible".
As the other Turaga nodded in agreement, Paradox couldn't help the smile on his face as he then looked back to the center of the seats and said: "Thank you Lead-Turaga Lesovikk".
Lesovikk kindly smiled back and replied: "No brave one, thank you". Then leaning back a bit in his seat, Lesovikk continued: "I would also like to give to you the two toa teams that have been working with you for assistance, for whenever you should need their help". "But only, of course, if you would be OK with it".
Each of the other Turaga and Toabots looked to Paradox then, almost wondering for a second if he'd say no. And indeed, as he faced the floor in thought, Paradox wanted to say no, knowing he'd be unable to live with himself if he got any other Toa killed. He'd even noticed the growing relationship between Tali and Ops and was more than unwilling to let either one of them die. But then again, they were still Toa, ready to fight for their people whenever they needed to. And today in the battlefield, they had both more than proved themselves as honorable Toa who knew how and when to take drastic measures seriously. At this point, he knew that Toa like that were exactly what he would need.
Come to think of it, he and his Toabots would need all of the help they could possibly get. The war wasn't over yet, he knew that better than anyone here today, and if the Makutacons returned with greater and stronger forces, Paradox and his other five Toabots were going to more than need Toa like this. Plus, they all seemed to get along fairly well, so maybe as a team, they would always have each others backs. And maybe some, each others Lights, for he had already started to notice a few new crushes developing among both teams. Who knows?, he thought. Maybe these Toa will form quite the family. And another radio-attack target for Ketongu.
Finally looking back up the Turaga with a kind smile, Paradox responded: "I would be honored to work with them".
"Then it is settled"., Lesovikk said, lightly tapping his golden hammer on his desk with a kind-lighted smile. Then turning to the others and saying: "Turaga Council, dismissed"., before then walking out of the room with the rest of the Turaga.
As the Turaga all left the room, each looking satisfied with their choice, each of the Toabots couldn't help but feel a peace-filled relief fill their Liarks. Finally!, each of them happily thought. After all of these years running, they would have to run no more. Now that the Turaga council finally trusted them, they wouldn't have to run and protect them at the same time anymore. Paradox let out tears of happiness and relief as he lowered his head then, thanking The Lord for making all of this possible. And his son for having the love and courage to pay the price for their sins all of those years ago. He didn't have to do either one for them, but he did it anyways. At long last, they were no longer outcasts, now they were finally accepted again, and Paradox would never be able to thank his Lord enough for this miracle.
Both Green and Angela felt the same way as they had listened to what had happened just outside of the council doors, now smiling to each other, and laughing excitingly in their happiness. Now that things were finally gonna get better, they really couldn't be any happier about this than they were now. They kept true to the faith and they won. And not just over the Makutacons, but also over that cursed law that had been keeping the Bioformer race away from their birth-planet for so long. As the two then hugged each other in said happiness, they had both almost instantly started to wonder if things could get any better than this.
Then Green and Angela looked into each others eyes, both noticing that in some form of way, one was romanticly held in the others arms. Both of them blushed in this realization, but they let it show. Now that both knew how the other really felt about the other, they didn't have to be afr
11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
As Ops stood alone in the training room that was just near the council's main base, he reverted both of his arms into a set of blasters, then shooting intensely at moving targets, hitting many of them at the bulls-eye point, almost never missing. It was every now and then that Ops would come here to blow off steam. Which, now that he thought of it, happened pretty often. He did after all, have a more than horrible memory from when he had been leading his own squad of Autobots, and nothing was getting it out. Ops still couldn't help but feel like it was his fault. He couldn't helkp but feel like ALL of this was his fault.
Ops sent a glare to the targets as he continued to fire at them, still not missing a single shot. Just WHY was it, that every time he had made a good or great friend or friends, that he was always either getting them killed or unwillingly earning a front row seat to their deaths?! It was PAINFUL! To have to witness this countless times, each death coming in like a thief in the night, it was nothing more than absolute torture! It was enough to make Ops wonder if he should've even had any friends at all. Maybe if he just kept his distance from the world, it'd be safer.
But then there was Tali. Oh Tali, where to start with her? She was probably one of the first few of any sentient beings that made him really want to stay here. As much as he wouldn't want to admit it right now, he loved Tali more than he loved himself. Just EVERYTHING about her amazed him! But just HOW was he supposed to be allowed a romantic life with her when everybody who was close to him kept dying?!
As Ops had then decided to stop and let out a few silent tears, something had suddenly appeared right in front of him, causing him to jump back in instantaneous fear, causing his back to his back to hit the wall. Then looking quickly up and pointing his arm-blasters at the thing that had scared him, his eyes widened in a growing fear. NO., Ops thought. NO! PLEASE Lord., he silently prayed: Please do NOT let it be HIM!
But much to his horror, it sure looked like him. Standing menacingly in front of him was a male silver, grey and black, lightly armored Decepticon, eyes shining a bright shade of red as it glared down at Ops before then fading away. Ops kept his back against the wall as he looked frantically around for the Decepticon, his spark beating faster and faster in an intense fear. Just what the scrap was he DOING here?!, Ops wondered. And why NOW?! Ops jumped as he saw the tail follow behind the Decepticon as he crawled across the ceiling. Ops shot at it, only for the Decepticon to once again vanish as the bullets only made impact with the ceiling.
As Ops continued to look around, trying desperately to catch his breath, a darkly-humorous voice seemed to say in his head: "I've had fun with your friends, old friend". "LOTS of fun"., then making a spine tingling chuckle as a frightening shadow of the Decepticon seemed to zoom across the room.
As Ops continued looking for this horrifying hallucination, Ops's head filled back with memories. Him and nine other autobots in a desert-like area, him fighting a Silver Decepticon and his friends fighting the tailed Decepticon. Then he remembered turning to this tailed Decepticon, the silver one retreating, his eyes changing horrific as the image of eight, gruesome Autobot corpses sprawled out across the desert, the Decepticon turning to Ops with a creepily happy grin.
Now Ops was breathing heavily and shaking as he said: "No... you're not there, I KILLED YOU"!
"I've killed THESE friends.," the memory seemed to reply. "Imagine what I'll do to EVERYONE you know".
Ops's shaking intensified and his spark was beating so fast he was almost worried that he was going to go into a spark attack. His spark and mind filled with both rage and fear as the voice only continued to speak and the lights began to flicker before an image appeared before him, the image of the Decepticon, now grinning darkly down at him. Ops could only look back up, his eyes filled with more fear than before.
The Decepticon leaned down in front of him then replying through the same dark-humored voice: "If I have anything to do with it, everyone you know will be dead right in front of you, and next time, there will be TWICE as much gruesome detail..."
Ops was about to make an angry response before the Decepticon then faded into the air like a mist and the lights came back on. All at once, everything but the memories seemed to stop. But regardless of whether or not Ops was safe now, he couldn't stop his heavy breathing, his shaking or those terrifying images that continued to show themselves in his head. The dead bodies, the way he attacked Z, ripping the Decepticon to pieces, wanting to bring him pain, but instead hearing the Decepticon laugh until the entire body was in pieces.
Tali entered the room with Billy and became shocked at what she saw. Ops was sitting on the floor against a wall, looking like he had just been scared half to death! This time, she didn't hesitate to run over to his side and kneel next to him. Resting a comforting hand on his shoulder, she tried to snap him out of it while making sure her voice did not sound as panicked as she felt. "Ops! Are you okay? What's wrong?"
Ops refused to look at Tali, his mind still focused on those memories as he replied: "I..."
Billy leaned down then, looking at eye level with Ops's sitting form. He had seen this many times before. As a matter of fact, this was close to how he had found Ops in that desert-like canyon. Shaking, cold and afraid. But for years now, Billy had been wondering just WHAT is was that had made Ops feel this scared. He WAS an Autobot after all, and Autobots didn't get scared this easily. Even now, him and the others were worried for him and curious over his refusal to tell them about what had happened. But every time they had asked that, Ops just seemed to remain silent as his eyes had filled with a horror unlike any they had ever seen before. Once Ops had actually gone into a Spark Attack from the memories of.. whatever it was. Which was why at this point, all Billy could hope for was for Ops to open up now.
"Ops, is this about why you were alone in that canyon, when we found you"?, Billy asked him.
Ops continued to shake for a bit, almost refusing to answer in fear of both Billy and Tali's safety. For a while now, Billy had been his best friend, always sticking by his side whenever he needed his help and even being there to support him in difficult times. Tali he had only know for the past hour and a half, and already, he knew he was in love with her. But at the same time, he had made a sort of friendship with her that was not easy to replace. How could he risk both that and her life by telling her? How could he risk EITHER of their lives? But as he then looked up and saw the looks on their faces, he knew that this time, they weren't gonna take no for an answer.
"Z"., Ops finally replied.
Billy gave Ops a curious and confused look, having never heard that name before in his life. Just who was this Z?, he wondered. Was he perhaps that Decepticon who had escaped? No., he thought. From what he knew, that silver Decepticon was the spawn of Galvatron, and Ops didn't fear him a bit. They had even run into him a couple times. MAN was that kid strong, but never once did Ops cower before his might. So if it wasn't him than maybe it was the Decepticon he had torn apart? Billy kept the thoughts running in his head as he just continued to stare at Ops with the confused expression on his mask.
Tali blinked in confusion. "Z? Who's Z?"
Inside, she thought, ' What kind of name is that anyway? Surely it's not his real name, it HAS to be a nickname.' Then the train took a different track. 'But what if Z IS he's real name? If that's true then...who names their kid "Z"? I mean, seriously? There are a lot of other cool, or a least, decent names to choose from. Did they have to use the last letter of the alphabet?' She sighed mentally. 'Oh well, to each their own, I guess.'
Ops tightened a fist as he looked up at both Tali and Billy, replying: "The decepticon who took everything away from me". "I forgave him but, when I look back on the day of when I killed him, I keep thinking: He's not dead". "And it scares the living frag out of me". "I've seen him survive a lot of things, all of them less destructive as what I did". "And that's why I haven't even slept for what feels like decades". "Because a part of me KNOWS that the second I turn a blind eye to any of my friends, he's going to come for them, and the worse part is I don't even think he can die".
I knew it!, Billy wanted to say. Finally knowing just what was wrong with him was so difficult for his to figure out that this almost felt like a major victory. Sure, since the day he and his team had found him alone in that canyon, he had always had that suspicion, and it felt a little good to know he was right. And he thought the word a little bit because at the same time, he couldn't help but feel extremely bad for his friend. Twice, Billy had lost a friend. Four years ago, him and his team lost a leader to someTHING, and today they had lost another friend to someone. He couldn't imagine what it was like to lose his entire band of friends like that, to someone who easily outmatched them, and he really didn't want to find that out for himself either.
Then looking at Ops in the eyes, Billy assured him: "Nothing's going to happen to us Ops". "I will promise you THAT much".
Ops gave Billy a sad look as he replied: "That's exactly what Topspin said, before I saw Z rip his spark out of his chest compartment"., a tear sliding down his face.
Billy's eyes widened in disbelief. Just who WAS this Makutacon to believe he could just do something like this and get away with it?! Sure, this Decepticon sounded like quite the handful but it didn't exactly make a difference. He took his FRIENDS from him, some before his very eyes. And the ones who survived the attack were VERY lucky. It wasn't a wonder now as he remembered the sight that only three out of the other nine with Ops had survived.
"But none of those images have ever left me after the attack"., Ops told them, regaining Billy's attention. "That can't be a coincidence, can it"?
"We can never forget the past, Ops." Tali said softly as she took his fist in her hands, hoping that her touch would be enough to unfurl his fingers and her words would help ease him. "But what we can forget is the fear that comes from the past. You are right to say that Z is alive...because he is. He lives in your memories. As long as you are afraid of what he did in the past, he will remain alive in the present. But not unless you cast out such fear." Looking Ops in the eyes, she continued. "Remember, God did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." She put more emphasis on the last two words.
Ops looked down at the hand that was wrapped comfortingly on his hand, then looking up at Tali and fighting not to plant a kiss on her cheek as he responded: "I know... But I'm not afraid for myself". "If he offered right now to kill me in order to spare you and all my other friends, I'd gladly take it". "But I AM afraid of something he told me as his lights flickered out". Then remembering exactly what Z had said: "He promised to put me through heck by brutally murdering everyone I would ever care about". "I'm not afraid of him, and I never will be... I'm afraid for the rest of you". "So afraid that when I DO go to sleep I have nightmares".
Billy's mask held a slight grimace on his mask, knowing why now that some nights Ops had been screaming in his sleep.
"Some Autobots said Bruticus was unbeatable, but Z was the most powerful Decepticon I have EVER faced"., Ops told them. "He's fast, like REALLY fast, powerful, and brutal". "He doesn't hesitate to kill anyone". "And I'm sure he wont as long as it means he's bringing me pain".
"Ops, everything will be OK"., Billy immediately responded.
As Tali listened to Ops talk about Z, her mind came up with soothing words and encouraging phrases to say to reassure him, to calm him, to let him know it was going to be alright. But the more he talked, the more her thoughts were dashed to the ground til she had nothing left to say. And it frustrated her. Of all times for mind to go blank, it had to be now?! When the most handsome Autobot she had ever seen and cared for was hurting and she couldn't help him? She felt a wave of helplessness wash over her and she dropped her gaze to the ground, burying herself so deep in her thoughts as she silently rebuked herself that she was not aware of the tears that had begun to fall down her cheeks.
Ops immediately broke away from all of those horror-filled memories as he noticed the tears slide down Tali's mask, feeling like his Spark had just split in two as he said: "Tali, please don't cry"., immediately hugging her, wanting desperately to calm her down.
Billy was token completely by surprise as he saw this, wondering for a second if they were "together" before quietly saying to himself: "Well... YOU TWO have really gotten to know each other".
Tali let herself lean a bit more into Ops' embrace. She had never felt so safe and secure in her life! She wished she could just be in his arms forever. But then she remembered the law and that he was an Autobot and quickly shook those fantasies from her mind. Leaning out of his grasp a bit, she wiped her eyes and looked up at Ops apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ops. I just...I don't know what to say to help you and I don't like seeing you so upset."
"I'm not upset-, Ops replied: I'm just worried, I'll be fine alright"? "Just as long as I can know that I can protect those I care about".
Tali nodded, accepting his words. "Alright." She smiled a bit at him. Suddenly, her earpiece started to chirp like the Kimmunicator from her favorite show. Chuckling softly in mild embarrassment, she excused herself and moved away a bit before answering. "Tali here.
"Hey, I'm looking for a few people who I think you might be in current contact with".,a male voice responded. Then adding in: "I'm not Z if you're wondering".
Tali straightened from her relaxed stance, glaring a bit at the wall as she focuses on the voice over the line. Adopting a protective stance, she spoke, her voice mildly guarded. She did not want to make herself sound too hostile. "Never crossed my mind." She let her voice relax a bit more. " So, if you're not him, " No way was she saying that name out loud. Ops would freak! "then who are you? And how did you get my comm. Number?" The only way to get such a thing was to be told or to hack. And the latter mostly spelled bad news.
"I'm a lead-Toa of sorts, that's how I knew"., I calmly replied, understanding the reasoning behind her tone earlier. "My name is Toa X, I'm the last Toa of creation". "But enough about me, the world's in danger, something big is coming and I need a team tougher than bullets to handle it". "Ops and Billy already know about it, but I'm trying to find a way to get into contact with a Bioformer".
Tali relaxed her pose and leaned against the wall but she was laughing her head off on the inside. 'Oh, great. First Z, now X. Am I going to meet a Y sometime before the day is out?' She pressed her lips together to hide the laugh that was starting to rise. 'Whoever name these guys HAD to have been into math.' Giving her head a shake to snap out of those thoughts, she glanced over at Billy and Ops before looking away and focusing again on the conversation. He was talking about getting in contact with Paradox and the others. She really wasn't sure if that was her call to make, but still, he sounded trustworthy enough and she didn't feel anything off so..."Alright," she sighed, "who do you want me to get in contact for you?"
"Well here's the thing, if I get into contact with him now, it could distract him from what's about to happen with the Makutacons"., I responded. "And with more coming in a few months I'll need you and the Toa teams to stay together, keep an eye on Paradox Prime for me". As the thought then crossed my mind, and in noticing the personal connection that had already started to bloom between these two, I decided to add: "Oh also on Ops". "Don't tell him I said this, but I think he has issues that could get him killed". "Take advice from a guy with experience, when he's in pain, do whatever it takes to let him know someone's still there to care about him". "Well, not... WHAT ever, but, you get the point, right"?
Okay, now she couldn't hold the laugh back. Thankfully, it wasn't a full laugh, just a chuckle so she quickly hid it with a cough. "Yes, I do." To herself, she continued, ' I'll do what I can to help him. And I most certainly will not go THAT far.'
Happy with the response, I replied: "Alrighty then". Then humorously adding: "Also, I know how funny that sounded". "I know how to get to people like that, I'm sort of a comedian".
Immediately, I heard a door open as a melodic female voice asked me: "Tony, who are you talking to?
I looked to my side then to face a beautiful Ga-Toa as I replied: "Oh it's Toa Tali, she's with three people I wanted to recruit for the AI".
She smiled gently, responding: "That's wonderful, sweetheart"! "Well, I just came to tell you that dinner is ready."
Immediately feeling my stomach grumble, I turned back to the phone, smiling lovingly up at the female and telling Tali: "Ok, I'm gonna have to hang up now, I'll talk to you about it when we need him"., then hanging up.
Hearing the flat tone, Tali blinked twice. "Well, that was...weird, but interesting." As she turned off her comm, she couldn't help a small smirk as she thought over what the female voice had said. 'Tony? Are you serious?' She was already seeing the red and gold suit. She gave a mental shake of her head to clear it. 'That better not have been Iron Man.' Walking back to her friends, her thoughts turned more serious. 'What am I going to tell Ops and Billy? Should I just come out and say it was Toa X?' Maybe she should ease up to it, even though he had said that they knew about this AI thing, that didn't usually mean that they knew the person behind it.
Ops kept his eyes on Tali, a curious face forming as he asked: "So, who was that"?, hoping desperately that this wouldn't be one of those drama moments where the person you loved was already in a relationship with someone else.
Tali paused and bit her upper lip. Once again, her mind had just gone blank. Seriously? Again? She sighed quietly to herself and just gave it to them straight. "Someone you two are familiar with. A certain someone named Toa X." She really hoped they actually knew this guy.
Recognizing the name instantly, Billy replied: "Oh yeah, of course we know him".
"The dude's real friendly, funny, all that stuff"., Ops added. "And he used to be kind of a jerk, but he's moved up a lot as the last Toa of Creation and as a lead-toa".
"Yeah, I used to know him as a Matoran too"., Billy said, then couching a bit and asking another question: "But uh, did he talk with you any at all about the AI initiative"?
Tali shook her head. "No, actually, he didn't." She decided to ask. "What is the AI initiative?"
For a while then, Ops and Billy shared a glance, as if they were silently debating on whether or not to tell her, and indeed they were. Was it ok? Would it even be right, or SAFE for that matter? The AI was supposed to be one of those top-secret kind of things and the only people who currently knew about it were the Autobots, Toa and Humans who were working under Toa X, and they kept secrets better than the next guy, but as Ops gave Tali a quick glance, he saw that she would be quiet if they asked her to be. If Tali was as smart as they were (which Ops believed that she was), then she'd know why this sort of information would be dangerous for the people involved.
Ops nodded to Billy who then turned to Tali and responded: "It's a program made to compose of the very best Toa, Autobots, humans, and members of other races".
"As X describes it, heroes"., Ops added in. "You know, Like Fireman, Matoro, those kind of guys". "So far, we've got three, soon to be four, on the team".
For some odd reason, Tali got an image of the group from Gahu's favorite show and it put a smile on her face. "Sounds like a type of Justice League. Pretty cool."
Billy went into a light storm of laughter, then asking her: "What"?
Ops turned to Billy with a raised metal eyebrow, asking him: "What's so funny about that"? "What Tali just said pretty much sums it up".
Then turning back to Ops with a kind smile, Billy responded: "Well there's a difference between us and those comic book legends". "We have something they don't".
Ops looked away in thought for a second. Something they DIDN'T have? What could that've been? They had people with different abilities, different attitudes and different methods for their lines of work (saving others). But these were all similarities between both teams. So again, what exactly was Billy referring to?
Eventually, Ops just turned to Billy with a humorous look, asking: "Two normal people"?, Motioning to himself and Billy.
Billy just laughed at Ops's wisecrack, shaking his head no. Sure, this was something that most famous hero teams didn't exactly have, well other than the Avengers from the movie trilogy under the same name. But this was clearly not the case since neither one of them was human or female. No, there was something else about this team, something that would help them fight against every evil army on this planet and win. No, not something, but someone they would all cherish in their hearts, and look to in all tough situations.
Tali gave Billy's words some thought as she ran though all those episodes her brother had kinda, sorta made her watch when they were young. Very quickly, she saw the difference. "You have the Lord on your side." She turned her attention to Billy. "Right?" That was the only thing she saw that was different between the comic books and the AI.
Billy smiled to Tali as he then responded: "Exactly". "If evil has an army, we have God".
Ops almost face palmed there. Of course that was the answer. Their main motto after all was supposed to be: In the name of Christ, we stand together. While as other fictional superhero teams had other motto's, they had the perfect one. At least with this motto, they would always remember where they stood and why. Besides, if you weren't for Christ, you were more than likely going to lose against anything you could fight against. If the all-powerful one was with them, who could ever be against them?
Then thinking of what AI stood for, and seeing as he had already told Tali more than enough already, Ops looked to her deciding to add in that little detail by adding: "Oh wait, I haven't even told you what we've, well X, called it yet". "To be honest, I always thought It sounded a little cliche but, I don't know". "Other people tend to have different feelings about it"., almost hoping she wasn't going to ask.
"Okay." Her curiosity quipped, Tali asked, "What's the name?"
Ops let out a sigh before then replying: "The Alliance".
Billy nodded, adding in: "Or as X likes to call it, Gods awesomest superheroes".
Ops went into a short fit of laughter there. PLEASE., Ops thought. They were NOTHING compared to those Bible heroes! David, his power might as well have been accurate aiming, Samson's was super strength, Moses's was being able to talk with God like a friend (Man did he wish he had that one) and Daniel had clairvoyance and dream-translating. All abilities that he was sure neither him, Billy or any of the others would have, other than accurate aiming of course. But either way, Ops thought they were better for being so close to The Lord as they were.
Then looking up at Billy with a raised eyebrow, Ops asked: "Hey, X didn't say that did he"?
Billy chuckled along with Ops, adding in: "Yeah, he actually did".
Ops rolled his optics before then pointing them to look in Tali's direction as he asked her: "What do you think"?
Tali chuckled softly and nodded her approval. "The Alliance." She tried the name out. It sounded perfect. "I like it. Simple, easy, and says it all. And..." She glanced at Ops, "not cliché. I really don't think it's cliché."
Ops gave Tali that humorous "Are you serious?" grin and was about to give a funny argument to that statement before then turning to the sound of a glass door that quickly opened and closed, Green running in with an excited grin. Billy sighed a bit at the sight, and wanting to say: FINALLY, he's actually happy about something. But seeing as Green had actually been quite sad and regretful over what had been happening both last night and today, this would more than likely be something that would make everyone happy. Just as long as they wouldn't get caught up in another sorrow-storm.
Green stopped a bit, looking at each of them for a moment before asking them: "Hey guys, what were you just talking about"?
"Nothing"., Ops and Billy both replied simultaneously, then sharing that funny look between each other that said, I was going to say that dude!
Ops turned back to Green then, replying: "Well, it's classified". "Or at least it is for now".
"Oh"., Green simply said. Almost wanting to ask more about this mysterious topic. But seeing as he had heard the word classified, he decided that it'd be none of his business for the moment, instead excitedly adding: "Anyways, I'm sorry if I interrupted anything, but I really needed to get the news out".
Billy stood up then, knowing that this must've been about what had just happened in the Council-room. But then again, it could've been a lot of things at this point, after all that had happened today. Billy just tilted his beetle-like head and asked him: "What news"?
"Well, there's actually a few bits"., Green responded. "First one being, they've combined you and Tali's teams into one, which will help the Toabot cause in all situations of which they'll need the back up against the Makutacons".
A jolt of joy and excitement rushed through Tali and before she could stop herself, a loud cheer escaped her. "Yes! Ops, did you hear that?!" She hugged Ops, grinning widely before her mind finally caught up with her. Realizing what she was doing, she quickly let go and backed away a pace, blushing fiercely with embarrassment. "Ah...uh...sorry. " She stuttered, looking down to hide the blush.
Ops widened his eyes for a second, thinking: did this beautiful Toa really just hug me out of the blue? It was kind of hot to be honest. Not that he'd actually say that to her mask right now, noticing how much she was blushing, that was just how HE thought of it. From her side it could've been anything along the lines of friendship. But why was she so nervous to hug him in front of everyone? Sure it was a little awkward, but that didn't mean that he didn't like it.
Ops just gave Tali a humorous look and, pulling her back into the hug, responded: "Hey wait a minute, I was actually starting to enjoy that".
Tali giggled and hid her face in his armor, hoping that he would not notice how fast her light was pounding right now. Returning the hug, she whispered quietly in his audio so that only he could hear. "So did I. " Breaking the hug, she returned her attention back to Green, resisting the urge to look at Ops again.
Just before Tali had turned, Billy had watched this silently, glad that Robert wasn't here to laugh his head off and ruin the moment for these two. And that was all because he could relate to Ops at this point. True, Billy never had a whole squadron of friends die before his eyes, but he knew what it was like to feel love for someone and not be able to express it. Matter of fact, when he had first met Outilisa, he almost didn't say anything and as she later told him, she felt the same way. Maybe that was what was happening between Ops and Tali now, who was to say? They could've just been friends, but even the best friends could fall in love with each other, despite the fear of ruining the friendship. And as he had gotten to know Outilisa more, he had started to have that same fear. But as he and Outilisa had later found out, sometimes those were the best of romantic relationships. One that he sincerely wished would happen with these two after everything that they had lost.
Green felt the same way as he continued to watch the two hug on the floor, wishing even now that these two would find happiness in each others arms. He more than understood the fear of telling Angela he held her in a special place in his light, for more reasons than one. But when Green had really thought of it, it became clear that Angela didn't care how poor or smart or how much of a jerk he could be sometimes. For despite everything he had and didn't have and despite everything that he did and didn't do for her, she still felt the same way, and wanted him in his life for better or for worse.
Then thinking of the discussion he had had with Turaga Lesovikk earlier, he then added: "Oh, and my dad's giving me extra money and extra help to run the zoo".
Billy looked at Green, an expression of surprise on his mask as he asked: "Dude, really"?
Green nodded in response. Being a Turaga meant you had or would have billions of NMN dollars in your pocket within a couple years time, depending on how well you did your job. If you were the kind who preferred to make decisions out of selfishness, you might as well have been lucky enough to find a snowball in Ta-koro as far as money was concerned. But as long as you kept to your promise in making moral decisions for the people, you were fine. But again, it depended on how well you did with the moral code.
As Ops finished thinking this over, he looked over at Tali, a humorous smirk on his face, as he quietly asked her: "How soon do you want to bet he'll use it to buy Angela a ring"?, wanting to add in: why hasn't anyone bought one for you? Seriously, if he could, he'd marry her in a heartbeat!
Tali pursed her lips, thinking it over. She figured Green would want to get Angela the right ring but with so many different kinds of rings out there, it was going to take a while. "I'd give him a month." She whispered back to Ops. "Something tells me it'll take at least that long to even find the perfect ring.
Ops nodded in agreement. "Yeah, probably".
Ops and Tali focused their attention back on Green then, as he said: "Oh and I haven't even gotten the best part yet".
This made each of them a bit curious as Ops raised a metal brow and asked him: "Better than what's happened already"?
Green gave them a growing smile, replying: "Yup".
NOW he had Billy, Tali and Ops's attention. Better than what had already happened today? Just how good could this day get? The Toabots had just gained a temporary win over the Makutacons, they had met some new friends who were already starting to click, the Sphere was out of reach of the Makutacons (PERMANENTLY), and Green's life was going to get better, and most of this was all thanks to The Lord for answering their prayers. But seriously, after all of the good that he had already done for them, what else was there?!, they all thought, intense anticipation starting to build up in their minds and thought processor.
Tali grinned. "Well, don't leave us in suspense, Green." She chuckled a bit. "What is it?"
"The Bioformers"., Green happily responded. "They've been accepted back into our society". "All twenty one Turaga voted for it". "And for the separation law between Transformers and bionicles to be terminated". "Guys, they're free"!
Billy gave Green a look of wide eyed amazement as he heard that. Did he seriously just hear what he THOUGHT he heard?! Were the Toabot really being given the chance to become a part of modern day society after all of those years of which they had been rejected?! To Billy, the news was so surprising that he almost asked Green if he was kidding. The now larger smile on Greens face proved otherwise. This was incredible! Indeed, The Lord was with them on this special day. They had fought for the safety of everyone, with Toabots who fought for the same one because their liarks had a love strong enough to forgive, and in the name of Christ, they had won!
Joy flooded through Ops's spark and mind as he exclaimed: "Yes"!, tremendously happy for this victory.
Tali let out another cheer. "Wah-Hoo! Alright!" 'Thank you, Lord!' She thought. 'I'm so happy that they are finally accepted! This is wonderful!' For a second, she wondered what song Ketongu would play at this news but pushed the thought aside. She couldn't even think of that as she thanked the Lord over and over in her mind.
Even Green had to let out a few excited laughs as he thought back to what had happened earlier. All six Toabots alone, with nothing but words to defend themselves, and from what was said, he believed Paradox had let the Holy Spirit do all of the work. And indeed, the Spirit had spoken to every light in the room, convincing them of the beautiful truth of forgiveness, and the true power it held. Because of forgiveness, the Makutacons vengeful rage had lost. Because of Forgiveness, Green was free from the rage that had consumed him, and to be honest, it was for the best, he felt so much better for letting his anger go. Because of Forgiveness, the thing Jesus had achieved by taking the sins of the world and conquering them, the Toabots choose to fight as hard as their bodies would allow them to, to save everyone from the Makutacons. And because of this, they and Jesus had won again.
