Chapter 5
Hayley sat on her new bed folding some of the clothes she bought. She looked around her new room and looked at all the organizing she had to do. It was late and she was tired. She had been organizing and folding clothes all day and wanted nothing more then to go to sleep. She wasn't feeling well and her head was pounding so hard that it took everything in her not to throw up.
Getting up and heading into the bathroom, Hayley washed her face and looked at herself in the mirror. Her swollen face had gone down but her blackened eye was still bright. At the sight of herself she felt nauseated. She dropped to the toilet as it overwhelmed her.
**KNOCK KNOCK**
"Go away." Groaned Hayley
"Hails…. You ok?" said Leon from outside of their shared Jack and Jill bathroom.
"Go away Leon!" she shouted.
Leon could hear her throwing up from outside the door and barged in anyway. He pulled her hair out of her face and rubbed her back. Seeing her like that hurt him to the core. He hated caring still considering she abandoned him.
Once she had stopped throwing up and collapsed to the ground, Leon scooped her up in his arms and carried her to bed. He laid her down and covered her up. When he started walking away he heard her faint voice.
"Did you need something else?" Leon asked.
"Stay with me… please." Hayley said softly as she looked over her shoulder into his green eyes.
"I don't…." Leon mumbled unsure, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"Please."
Leon just looked at her begging face and sighed. Something was different with her. She was never the kind of girl that looked scared and acted needy. She was always strong.
He walked back to the bed and climbed in behind her. Hayley rolled and rested her head on his chest and wrapped her arm around him. Leon didn't know what to do. He didn't know where to put his hands. He was tense and nervous.
"I just need to feel safe again." Whispered Hayley looking up at him.
Leon relaxed when he saw the fear she had in her eyes.
"You're safe again." He said resting his arms around her.
"I hope so. You don't know what he's capable of." She said.
She missed him so much while she was gone, wanted to come back a million times but could never swallow her pride to do so.
"Hayley… We won't let anything happen to you."
Hayley let her eyes close knowing he couldn't guarantee that. She was never so scared of someone like she was Carter. Her mailbox was full and she was scared to answer it anytime it rang. She missed her friends but knew he would talk to all of them and scare them into telling him where she was. Hayley fell asleep easier then she had in a very long time.
Carter threw his phone against the wall at another unanswered call. He balled his fists at his side while his eyes roamed the apartment he forced Hayley to let him move into. There had to be something that gave him an idea of where she was. She was his. No women left him and got away with it.
He looked at the pictures on the wall. Nothing but her friends he already knew. She was smart he thought. She wasn't contacting any of them. No one could tell him where she was and he beat the hell out of quite a few of them just in case. Anger grew in him as he looked around the living room. He grabbed frames sitting on tables and threw them around the room.
Carter walked into the bedroom and scanned the room, thinking where Hayley would hide something. He started in her closet. He pulled everything from her closet throwing it to the ground. Nothing. He worked on her dresser. Dropping everything to the floor. Nothing. He stood in the middle of the room looking from bathroom to closest, from closet to nightstand and paused. He walked over and sat on the bed. Carter yanked the drawer open not sure what he would find but he needed to find something, anything to tell him where she was so he could get her back.
