Chapter 7

Haley sat on the couch as Dom paced in front of her, Mia standing to the side.

"What were you thinking?" asked Dom harshly.

"Dom she was going…." Started Mia.

"No Mia! I won't except excuses for her." He shouted cutting her off. "She ran away, barely talks to me. Now she's running home from for protection from the father of her baby who beat the shit out of her to force a miscarriage."

"Dom." Whispered Haley as tears fell down her cheeks, then jumped at the door slamming as Leon ran upstairs to avoid any contact with her.

"You should have told me from the beginning." Dom softened his voice at the sight of his sister's tears.

"I'm sorry. I wanted to wait till the right time to tell you." Haley explained. "I understand if you want me to leave."

"Absolutely not." Roared Dom. "You are my sister and I will always be there to protect my family. You aren't going anywhere especially with this guy out there looking for you. Just wish you had told me sooner."

"I'm sorry Dom." She cried.

Dom pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

"You're safe. We won't let anything happen to you or the baby."

"Thanks Dom."

"Go get some rest."

"Alright. Good night." Said Haley pulled away and heading upstairs.

"You asleep?" asked Leon softly from their bathroom.

"What's sleep?" said Haley. "You ok?"

"I can't sleep." He mumbled.

Haley sat up and patted the mattress. Leon walked over and sat next to her. Haley fidgeted unsure of what was to come but remained quiet.

"I can't wrap my head around this." Whispered Leon looking straight ahead around into the darkness.

All Haley could do was sigh. She knew this was going to be more difficult for him because of their unfinished past.

"I'm sorry Lele." Mumbled Haley already feeling tears well up. "I never meant for of this."

Leon handed her a photo and her tears fell.

"You still have it…."

"I always thought you'd carry more of mine." Said Leon running his finger over the photo of his unborn child. "To this day no one has meant more to me then you do."

His words cut her like a knife.

"Don't say that." Haley choked out as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"None of this would of happened if it weren't for me." He said seeing the tears fall down her cheeks. "I should have been a better boyfriend. Been there for you during the miscarriage."

"We were constantly fighting. You can' put all the blame on yourself." Said Haley hoping he hadn't been blaming himself this whole time.

"You didn't want me to go out. You said you weren't feeling well. I should have been here. You knew where I was going. Called me out on it…"

"Lele." Whispered Haley.

"Then she showed up here a couple days later claiming she was. I know that killed you." He finished.

"Did she have your child?" whispered Haley mustering up the strength to hear the answer.

"No. She lied hoping it would make me leave you for her."
"I pushed you away after that. I couldn't let it go." Mumbled Haley.

Leon turned toward her and wiped the tears from her cheeks.

"As soon as she found out you left without leaving me any way to communicate with you she told me the truth. I begged Mia to tell me where to find you…. To bring you home."

"The damage was already done. It was proof you cheated again after every time you begged me to give you another chance and every time I did. Begging me to come home wouldn't have done anything but make it worse."

"I just wanted you home. It wasn't fair that you left YOUR home, YOUR family, YOUR life for what I did."

"it was the choice I made. You had no where else to go…." Started Haley.

"Even leaving me…. You were still making sure I was taken care of." Mumbled Leon.

"Leon, I knew when I was ready to come home I could." Explained Haley taking his hand. "Stop blaming yourself."

"I can't. I should have been better to you. I will never forgive myself."

"Be here for me now. I forgave you a long time ago."

"I'm just so sorry. You went through so much because of my fuck up."

"I'm a big girl Leon. I make my own decisions."

"You leaving is my fault. Maybe right now it would be my baby you're pregnant with."

"Leon…" said Haley softly.

"I'm so hurt Hales."

"I'm sorry but what can I do? It's over."

"You left with no word for years. Then come back pregnant."

"I'm sorry." She repeated.

"Did you even think about how this would affect me?" asked Leon filling with anger.

"Oh come on Leon. I'm sorry ok. Yes I am…." started Haley trying to control her anger as he accused her of not caring. "But are you really going sit here and act like you haven't touched one broad since I left. You were escorting one out when I got here." Haley was yelling at this point, unable to hold in her anger. "What did you expect? Me to stay to myself? Never move on?"

"It's not the same."

"Oh please. Don't give me that. I was with one guy the entire time I was gone and when I was here… I was completely loyal and faithful to you while you bounced from female to female. Telling me you loved me and we were going to get married one day." Shouted Haley.

"I never loved another female. You gave him love." Leon yelled back at her standing up and pacing.

"What do you want me to say?" asked Haley through her teeth.

"I don't know Hails! Do you even care about the time we shared anymore? You stroll in here like you don't give a rats ass about me and the last couple years." Shouted Leon waving his arms at her.

"Are you kidding me right now? All I've thought about for the last couple years is what you're doing and who you're doing it with. Don't give me that bullshit. You pushed me away when I needed you the most…." Paused Haley as she tried to calm herself down. "You're going to tell me I don't care. If I didn't care I wouldn't have taken you back every time you cheated. Carter didn't get any love Leon because you shattered my heart."

Tears streamed down Haley's face and Leon could just stare at her in shock. His pain seemed miniscule compared to the pain she's been suffering with.

KNOCK KNOCK

"You ok Haley?" asked Mia through the door.

"Ya thanks." said Haley choking out her words.

"Ok." Said Mia.

"I'm sorry I hurt you so bad." Said Leon stepping toward her with his arms open.

"I need to get some sleep." Said Haley raising her hand to stop him from coming any closer to her.

Leon felt his heart fall into the pit of his stomach. He hurt her so bad.

"Good night." He said walking away. "You were always the love of my life."

Haley shoved another box across the floor to restock more shelves, as she remained lost in thought. She and Leon have been avoiding each other for days. Their doors to their conjoined bathroom remained closed. It was a fight that was unavoidable but it didn't make it any easier.

"Excuse me."

The voice startled Haley. She looked up dazed and froze.

"Miss me sweetheart?" chuckled Carter.
