Chapter 14

"Ma'am please." Said the EMT, trying to pull Hayley away from Leon on the stretcher.

"Is he going to be ok? Please tell me he's going to live." Asked Hayley frantically.

"Hayley… let them do their jobs." Said Dom pulling her away.

Hayley collapsed into Dom's arms and cried as she watched them hoist Leon's pale body into the ambulance.

"Come on Haley. We'll follow them to the hospital." Said Dom trying to pull her towards the car.

When the EMT's rolled Carter past Haley, a flood of emotions washed over her. He was dead. She was free again. He was the reason Leon is fighting for his life. She was the reason Leon was fighting for his life.

"Is he going to die Dom? Because of me." Whispered Hayley through her tears.

"Don't blame yourself Hails. He's going to be ok. He would do anything for you, for any of us." Said Dom bear hugging Haley. "He's strong. He'll fight."

Flashback

"I want to go too Dom!" shouted Hayley chasing after her big brother. "It's not fair that you let Mia go but not me. I want to see you race."

"Mia is 18. You're 16. Not happening so stop following me around." Explained Dom trying to keep his patience.

"Come on Dom!" whined Hayley.

"Hayley!" shouted Dom. "I can't deal with you acting like a brat right now."

"I hate you! I wish Dad was here! I just don't want to be here by myself while my whole family is out racing!" Hayley yelled back at him before running upstairs and slamming the door behind her.

"You didn't have to be so hard on her." Said Leon from the couch. "She lost her dad too. She's had to grow up a lot the last couple of months and accept that things are going to be tight and rough for awhile."

"When did you get here?" asked Dom.

"I've been sitting in this spot, waiting for you for like an hour." Stated Leon.

"Sorry Leon. My mind is everywhere." Explained Dom.

"It's cool dawg." Said Leon getting up and patting Dom on the back as they headed toward the kitchen. "Let Hails go with us tonight. I'll keep her with me and keep an eye on her. I'll take full responsibility for her."

Dom gave Leon a funny look and crossed his arms.

"You know that means you can't be flirting with the race whores? You can't bring one in the car with you…"

"She's family. I wouldn't do that to her."

"Alright." Sighed Dom defeated. "Go let her know she can come tonight."

"Don't worry Dom. I'd always protect her with my life." Said Leon before he headed upstairs to tell Hayley.

Flashback Ends

Dom sat in the hospital waiting room, elbows on his knees and head in his hands. He was trying to stay strong for everyone but he was worried. Leon was in still in surgery but he had lost a lot of blood, more blood than he had ever seen. He thought about sending someone to the house as soon as he was allowed to so it could be cleaned. There was blood everywhere and he didn't want anyone, especially Haley and Leon to come home to that. He really hoped Leon came home.

Flashback

"I need to tell Dom; we've been hiding this for way to long." Whispered Leon, hugging Haley against him while they leaned against his car.

Haley lifted her head from his chest and looked into his soulful green eyes.

"Leon, we talked about this." Started Haley trying to pull away form Leon, but he wasn't having it.

"Hails." Said Leon softly holding her tighter to keep her from pulling away.

"Leon, stop." Finally pulling free. "We both know that if and when he finds out it will be the end of us and he'll probably kick you out."

"We've been thick as thieves for over two years. We do everything together," started Leon moving toward Haley, cupping her face in his hands. "And we've been doing this…" kissing her softly on the lips before resting his forehead against hers. "For almost 6 months."

"Then why ruin it by telling him."

"Because I love you and don't want to hide it anymore…."

"What?" Haley questioned stepping back, surprised by the three foreign words.

"Yes, Haley. I love you and I'm tired of lying to Dom and everyone else as to why I'm not hooking up after races anymore. I'm tired of not being able to put my arm around you when we're on the couch watching movies with everyone. I'm tired of having to bolt from my girlfriend's bed when someone knocks on either door! And I'm tired of not being able to claim you to the rest of the world!" Leon was getting more and more aggravated per reason.

Haley watched as he tried to compose himself. Without warning she jumped on Leon, wrapping her arms and legs around him. Leon caught her as they fell back against the car and accepted the unexpected burst of affection.

"You love me." Shrieked Haley.

"Yes." Laughed Leon turning and sitting her on the hood of the car.

"You called me your girlfriend." Said Haley with an ear to ear smile.

"Of course you are. You're mine." Leon said rested his hands on her thighs and kissing her teasingly.

"Am I?" whispered Haley seductively as she slipped her hands up his sides under his shirt as she kissed his jawline and neck.

"MmmHmm." He moaned sliding his hands up her bare thighs causing her to moan and squirm.

Haley pulled back and looked at him for a moment.

"I love you too. Let's talk to Dom."

Leon smiled and returned to kissing her. The hot summer night just intensified the heat between them. Leon slid his hands slowly further up her thighs and under the jean fabric of her already short skirt to her bare hips. Leon ripped his lips away from Haley's leaving her still puckered and panting from the kiss.

"What's wrong?" asked Haley agitated and trying to pull him back in.

"Have you been with me this entire time in a mini skirt with no drawls?" he questioned.

Haley blushed more and bit her lower lip.

"Woman, you are going to be the death of me." Leon growled attacking her lips as he untied his basketball shorts and freeing himself.

Haley giggled when Leon grabbed her hips and yanked her to the edge of the hood, pushing her skirt up and leaving her bare bottom on the hot metal of his car. Their intensity lessened the burning sensation on her ass. Leon lifted her knees over his forearms, held her hips and slammed into her so hard she screamed. She was so wet around him; he struggled to keep from finishing at contact.

"Shit Leon." Gasped Haley leaning back on her hands and letting her head fall back.

"You're mine… this is mine. You don't go without panties and not tell me." Growled Leon dropping one of her legs and grabbing her by the neck to pull her into the passionate kiss.

His fingers tangled in her hair as her hands ran down his back and cupped his ass. He never stopped pounding.

"Oh… my… god." Haley panted resting her back against the hood.

"Wrap your legs." He commanded.

She did as told and wrapped her legs firmly around his waist. He scooted her further so her bottom was completely off the car and lifted her tank top revealing naked breasts and attacked them with his mouth and hands.

"Fuck Hails." Panted Leon, returning to her lips.

He could feel Haley was done. He was soaked in sweat as was she: eyes glazed over.

"Please baby." She begged.

Leon sat her up and adjusted her on the car. He tangled his hands in her hair and placed his forehead against hers. Haley wrapped her tired arms loosely around his shoulders. Leon kissed her sweetly and softly as he thrusted the same way. Haley orgasmed one last time with Leon finishing shortly after. He pulled out and adjusted himself without leaving Haley's embrace. He tightened his arms around her waist and rested his forehead against hers.

"I love you." He said kissing her forehead.

"I love you." She repeated softly hugging him as tight as her tired body could. "Leon."

"Ya?"

"Can I get off the car? My ass is on fire."

Leon wrapped his arms tighter around her waist and lifting her off the hood.

"Your ass really is hot." He chuckled as he cupped her bottom before adjusting her skirt for her.

"Oh I know." She chuckled as he put her on her feet and she adjusted her tank top.

Leon leaned against his car and pulled Haley into an embrace.

"So we're talking to Dom?" asked Leon looking down into her tired eyes.

"We're talking to Dom." Groaned Haley, on the verge of tears at the thought of the end of them together.

Flashback Ends

Haley paced the hospital waiting room. She was so scared and no one would tell them anything other then he was in surgery. She could tell everyone was scared. She could tell Dom was trying to hold everyone together, including himself. He always tried to stay strong.

Haley rubbed her belly to lessen the pain she was feeling but didn't want to let on about. She was too worried about Leon, but it kept worsening.

Finally, a doctor emerged from behind the double doors.

"How is he." Asked Haley frantically.

"He's still in surgery. We had to find the bullet. It was very deep in his side and did a lot of damage. We also had to stitch up several major arteries…" the doctor explained.

Haley became very dizzy and light headed. She took hold of Dom's arm to stabilize herself and rubbed her belly again.

"He's still in critical condition due to blood loss but we're doing everything we can."

"Dom." Whispered Haley.

Just as Dom looked at her to respond, she collapsed to the ground unconscious.

"HALEY!" shouted Dom catching her.
