Chapter 16
"She's going to be my wife soon." Said Leon looking toward Haley's tent from his tent. "My wife."
"I'm happy for you Leon." said Dom patting his soon to be brother-in-law on the back.
"Thanks Dom."
"You look so beautiful." Said Mia looking over Haley's shoulder into the mirror.
There were already tears forming in Haley's eyes when she looked herself in her wedding dress.
"I hope those are happy tears." Said Letty giving her a tissue.
Haley laughed and nodded her head and dabbing her eyes as to not mess up her makeup.
"I'm so happy." Haley choked out with fresh tears. "I didn't I would ever be at this point."
Mia and Letty wrapped their arms around her in a big sisterly hug.
"You are about to be Mrs. Leon Reed." Said Mia softly looking at her sister in the mirror. "You deserve this happy day more then anyone."
"Let's get me married."
Haley took a deep breath as Mia and Letty left the tent and headed down the isle. Dom stepped forward and slipped Haley's arm around his.
"You ready for this? I have my car parked right behind your tent." Dom said smiling.
"Dom." Whispered Haley looking at her big brother.
"You look perfect." He said sweetly kissing her on her cheek before pushing back the fabric of the tent.
Haley's breath caught and her heart filled with love and joy when she emerged from the tent and took in the scene of the bluff. Glowing lanterns lined the white runner that family and friends sat along. She could hear the waves and see the sunset behind Leon, then they made eye contact and her step faltered but Dom was there with his strong arm to hold her. Leon looked so handsome, in his khakis and white button down shirt. Tears were already forming in her eyes.
Leon placed his hand over his heart when he saw Haley emerge on Dom's arm. She looked stunning. Her olive skin glowed and her white gown fit her perfectly, strapless, sweetheart rouche top with a taffeta ball skirt and a tulle overlay, topped off with a jeweled belt. (I'm looking at a picture and I wish I could give a better description because mine isn't doing it justice.) It was exactly what he always dreamed she would be in. Her hair, down and wavy with a jeweled headband, flowed in the breeze. Tears formed in his eyes as she stepped closer and closer but he never broke eye contact with her.
Dom placed his baby sister's hand in Leon's hand after kissing her cheek one last time and patted Leon on the back before taking his seat. He couldn't be more proud. The sun setting behind the bride and groom made for a beautiful, intimate ceremony. They couldn't keep their eyes off each other or the tears out of their eyes. Their obvious love for each other brought tears to their guest's eyes.
I, Haley, take you, Leon, to be my husband, secure in the knowledge that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner in life, and my one true love.
I, Leon, take you, Haley, to be my wife, knowing in my heart that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner in life, and my one true love.
Haley On this special day, I affirm to you in the presence of these witnesses my sacred promise to stay by your side as your faithful wife, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad.
Leon Haley, I take you as with your faults and your strengths, as I offer myself to you with my faults and my strengths. I will help you when you need help, and turn to you when I need help. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life."
Both I further promise to love you without reservation, comfort you in times of distress, encourage you to achieve your goals, laugh with you and cry with you, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.
You may now kiss the bride.
Leon couldn't help himself. He grabbed Haley, dipped her and kissed her hard. All of their guests applauded and hollered, standing in cheers. Haley smiled hugely when Leon lifted her upright. Her arms wrapped tightly around him as she kissed him a second time before resting their foreheads together.
"I love you so much." Whispered Leon.
"I love you too." Said Haley.
Leon suddenly groaned and hunched over holding his side.
"Leon?" said Haley scared draping her arm over his back.
Leon looked down at his hand and saw the red substance, then looked at his once white shirt covered in blood. He looked at Haley and saw the fear in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around him trying to hold him up. His weight dragged them both down. Leon lay on his back and tried to focus his eyes on Haley. She was screaming for help and crying. Leon could feel his eyes grow extremely heavy.
"No Leon." Said Haley crying. "Stay with me baby."
He could hear the panic set in her voice when his eyes closed one last time.
"WAKE UP LEON!" Haley screamed.
His eyes fluttered open. Trying to focus on anything that would give him any indication as to where he was.
"Haley." Leon tried to choke out.
"Leon?" said Dom sitting up in the chair he was sitting in next to Leon's bed.
"Where's Haley?"
"Don't talk bro. I'll get you some water."
Dom went to walk away but Leon weakly grabbed his forearm.
"Where's Haley?"
"She's ok. She went into labor but they were able to stop it." Sighed Dom no one would ever matter more to them then each other. "Let me get you some water."
Leon didn't say another word and just nodded his head.
Dom left the room and rushed to the nurse's station to let them know he was awake. The nurses went in and checked him out but he wouldn't let them touch him. He was erratic. He just kept asking for Haley.
"Mr. Toretto, Leon won't calm down. I don't think it's a good idea for you to stay." Explained the nurse trying to escort him out of the room.
"Let me bring Haley here." Said Dom not budging a bit. "He needs to see her. He needs to know she's ok. She needs to see him. You don't know these two."
The nurse just looked between the two gentlemen, Dom standing there towering over her and Leon looking longingly out the window, and sighed.
"Ok." Started the nurse. "But Leon is still badly injured and Haley is suppose to stay bed ridden."
"Thanks nurse Francis." Said Dom giving her a sweet smile before leaving the room and rushing home.
"Let's get you dressed." Started Dom entering Haley's bedroom.
"Leave me alone." Pouted Haley buried under her covers.
It had been 2 weeks since she was released from the hospital and a month since the shooting. All she could think about was Leon laid out in the hospital because of her. She remained bed ridden, which only put her in a further depression. They wouldn't even let her visit him.
"Get dressed Haley." Repeated Dom tossing some clothes on her bed for her to change into.
"I said no." she said covering her head with her pillow.
"He's awake."
Haley lifted her head and tried to get up.
"Help me please."
Dom moved to his helpless sister and gently helped her get up, then left the room for her to get dressed. She put on the yoga pants and off the shoulder t-shirt Dom tossed on the bed for her. Haley threw her hair up in a messy bun and slipped on her Uggs then slowly headed downstairs with Dom right behind her.
Dom grabbed a wheelchair for Haley when they got to the hospital. She wasn't going to be able to walk all the way to Leon's room. He could tell she was nervous to see him, her knee kept bouncing.
"Stop." Said Haley before entering Leon's room.
"What's wrong?" asked Dom.
"I'm walking in." said Haley standing up.
Dom just shook his head and parked the wheelchair against the wall outside the room.
"LeeLee." Said Haley softly, taking in the sight of his battered body.
"Hails." Said Leon turning his head at her voice.
Haley had tears running down her cheeks immediately. She rushed to him and wrapped her arms carefully around him. Leon sighed and hugged her back to his best ability, burying his face in her hair to hide the tears.
"I love you so much." Whispered Leon.
"I love you too." Said Haley.
