Before I continue A reader of mine, Menatron the angel of Ideas has requested I advertise a Winx Club/ Avengers challenge of hers for anyone that is interested. If anyone is interested in taking that challenge please PM Menatron the Angel ideas after you are done with this chapter. Also in case you didn't know, Disney announced yesterday that there will be a Tangled TV show on Disney channel in 2017. Isn't it fitting that they announce that right as I am getting near the end of my Tangled story. I think it is. I would email them the script to this for one of their episodes but it may be a little dark for their family image lol. Anyway on with the story.
When I arrived to the Wolf's liar, there was several members of the Wolf Pack standing outside waiting for me. They didn't attack though, for Greyson had wanted me to come here.
"Take me to Alpha Male." I ordered one of the wolfs standing at the entrance of the cave. The Wolf nodded and led me into the cave. When I got there I saw Greyson standing with his back turned to me at the edge of the magic pit. Without even turning his body around Greyson turned his head slowly around and gave a sadistic smile.
"So, you got my message?" He grinned.
"WHERE ARE THEY!" I roared as I took out my bow and arrow ready to strike him. "WHERE IS RAPUNZEL AND ELSA! WHERE ARE THEY!"
"Now Eugene there is no need for any violence." Greyson said as he slowly turned his body around and showed me to my horror that he had Rapunzel in his arms, with her hands bound and knelt to the ground. "Especially when I have your wife in my clutches."
"Let her go." I begged, hoping to reason with him to no avail.
"Oh I'm afraid I can't do that Eugene." Greyson said.
"Eugene get out of here, it's a trap!" Rapunzel cried, which earned her a punch in the face by Greyson.
"Shut up!"
I pointed my bow straight at Greyson for daring to strike Rapunzel. But before I could send a arrow in his eye he held his palm out and several of the Wolf Pack members aimed their bows at me.
"Uh uh, I wouldn't do that if I were you." Greyson said. "You strike me down, and all three of you will die. You are in my playhouse now Eugene. Which means you play by my rules."
"What do you want?" I growled as I lowered my bow.
"To see you suffer." Greyson said "You destroyed my chance of recreating a better Corona. You destroyed my dream. Now I am going to destroy you.
"Then let her go." I said "I'm right here, do whatever you want with me! Just let Rapunzel and Elsa go."
"Oh I'm afraid it's not going to be that simple. You see, only one of them is getting out of here alive. And the one that does will be up to you."
"I will never condemn one of them to die."
"Oh trust me Eugene," Greyson smiled as he snapped his fingers. "You will"
Then to my shock I saw Elsa walk out from behind a wall, her face was drained of any emotion whatsoever and she walked over to Greyson and just stood there still as a statue as she stared at me with blank emotionless eyes.
"Elsa?" I gasped before glaring at Greyson, whose smile had still not left hid face. "What did you do to her?"
"You know? It's amazing how easy you can control someone, how easy it can be to get them in your power. All it takes is a little bit of mind warping."
"What did you do?" I growled.
"He drugged her Eugene!" Rapunzel cried. "He gave her some type of mind control drug."
"Didn't I tell you to shut up!?" Greyson said punching her again. I aimed my bow at Greyson again for that but was forced to lower it when the Wolf Pack aimed theirs at me.
"Here's how it's going to work Eugene!" Greyson said. You and Elsa will fight to the death, winner walks away, the loser dies."
"I will not fight Elsa." I growled.
"You refuse," Greyson said as he grabbed Rapunzel by the neck and held a dagger to her throat." And Rapunzel dies. Your choice Eugene!"
"Don't do it Eugene!" Rapunzel cried. "Don't fall for his games."
I had no choice, I couldn't allow Rapunzel to pay the price for what I got into. With a sigh I agreed to Greyson's little game.
"Elsa, attack!" Greyson ordered, then with a charge of her powers she shot a blast of ice at my direction causing me to find a hiding place quick behind a group of boulders.
How was I going to fight Elsa? She had more magic flowing through her veins then I had ever seen, and she was unleashing it all at me at once. I had to think of something quick, because she was shooting at the boulder I was hiding behind and it was freezing quick.
Just before the boulder was completely frozen I jumped out from behind it, took out one of my explosive arrows and shot it right above her head trying to see if the impact from the explosion would knock her out. I shot the arrow. It grazed her cheek, and struck a rock behind her and exploded. Sadly the explosion wasn't big enough to knock her out. Hell, it didn't even seem to injure her, just piss her off.
After the first failed attempt to beat her she just glared at me and formed a mecha suit right out of ice that looked a lot like a suit from one of those Iron Man films Rapunzel got me into last summer. The only difference was this suit was made from Ice and.. Holy shit she just created a battle ax out of her magic snow, Oh fuck.
If you thought Elsa with a battle ax was bad enough. How about Elsa creating three seven foot killer snowmen in full medieval warrior gear also swinging battle axes? Oh yes this was happening and they were all charging right at me. Boy I wish I had let Merida and the Death Force come with me.
There was no way I could fight these guys with just my bow. I was forced to take out my sword and prey to god that I could puncture these things with it.
As one of the snowmen charged at me, I swung to the left as it lowered it's ax and made impact with the rocky ground, getting it stuck. I took the opportunity and swung my sword, cutting off the arm of the snowman which held the ax. To my complete disgust however Elsa just grew another arm and ax for that snowman like it was nothing. Ok this just is not fair.
The Snowman than took another charge at me this time followed by the other two. As they swung at me I was able to block one of the axes with my sword on my left side and another with my bow on right side. There was just one problem though. I didn't have a third arm to protect from that third snowman that was coming at me from the front. If I didn't find a way out of this predicament soon. I would be history.
Thankfully I leaped in the air and out of harms way just as the third snowman swung his ax and as I was still in the air I took out another explosive arrow and shot it right in the middle of the pack, blowing up all three snowmen at once.
That really made Elsa mad, because she came swinging at me with everything she had, causing me to block it real quick with my sword.
"Listen Elsa," I said as we dueled there in the middle of the cave. "I know you are in there. You've got to snap out of this. I know you are only attacking me because you are drugged and have no idea what you are doing. But still I need you to snap out of this trance and remember who the real enemy is."
The words seemed to have no impact on Elsa as it only seemed to make her more and more aggressive with her blows. I don't know how I was going to get Elsa to out of this drug made trance but it was definitely causing me problems.
With a quick kick to the abdomen I was able to knock Elsa back a couple of feet, allowing me space to take out my bow one more time and hopefully knock her out and snap her out of this. Before I was able to fire my bow though, I found myself having to dodge giant ice cycles coming out of the walls and floor. I was jumping in the air and rolling on the floor with every ice cycle that came at me. I had to end this now. I couldn't continue to fight off Elsa's magic. If I didn't knock her out now she was going to dream up something that would be to much for me to take down. I quickly took out a explosive arrow and before another ice cycle shot out at me I fired my arrow at her.
Elsa made a ice wall to shield herself from the arrow but the arrow was far to close to her. It exploded and sent her flying across the cave, destroying her suit and knocking her out as she hit the left wall of the cave.
As Elsa laid unconscious on the ground, Greyson smiled and started a slow clap.
"Well done, well done Eugene" Greyson laughed. "Now kill her. And I will let your wife go."
"Don't do it Eugene! Your not a murderer." Rapunzel cried.
I looked down at Elsa, who laid helpless on the floor. The idea did race through my mind I'm ashamed to say. And I did consider it as I stood above her and took out my sword. But no, that would make me just like Greyson, a murderer and a fiend. I could not kill a unarmed person. Especially one who was drugged into doing what they did.
As I lowered my sword, I turned to Greyson, took off my hood and threw the sword to the side.
"No, I will kill a innocent person. I will not let you turn me into the monster Corona already thinks I am."
"Then you are sentencing your wife to die." Greyson said grabbing Rapunzel tighter by the neck and putting the dagger to her throat. "If you do not strike down Queen Elsa, you will spend the rest of your life without the person you care about the most. Then you will live with the guilt of being the one responsible for the death of the Princess of Corona. How do you think the King and Queen will take that news. How do you think the people of Corona will. You will be a outcast. You will be chased by the guards in your regular identity instead of the identity of the Archer. Do you really want to go back to being considered the criminal you once was."
As Greyson held the dagger to Rapunzel's throat I stared into Rapunzel's eyes. She was definitely scared. But not about death. No the fear I saw in her was the fear of me giving in to Greyson and becoming a monster and doing something I couldn't take back.
"It's ok Eugene." Rapunzel cried. "I love you."
"This is your final chance Eugene!" Greyson said "What is your choice!?"
What happened then happened so fast I could barely explain it myself. Right before I could make my choice a arrow came from behind Greyson and shot him in the back. It wasn't just any arrow either. It was a yellow arrow, filled with the magic from the pit. Each member of the Wolfpack also got shot. But with regular arrows. As Each member of the Wolfpack fell I turned and saw Spade stepping out of a escape hatch from behind the pit. And Merida and the Death force standing on the outer entrance of the cave, weapons drawn. Well I'll be damned they followed me after all.
Greyson stood in shock and he released his grip on Rapunzel and took out the magic arrow that struck him.
"NO!" Greyson screamed as he felt his power draining from him. He put both his hands in the front of his face and stared in horror as the color drained from them and they started wrinkling. His age was catching up to him.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" Greyson screamed as he turned to look at Spade, who fired the arrow. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?
Greyson then fell to his knees as his skin turned a dark gray and his hair turned white. His eyeballs fell out of his head and his skin deteriorated as he soon became nothing but a skeleton, his age finally caught up to him.
"Explanation." I demanded to Spade once Greyson finally fell dead.
"I made a second arrow with the magic from the pit. I figured in case something happened to you we needed a backup arrow." Spade said
I smiled and patted Spade on the back of the shoulder. "Thank you."
Rapunzel knelt down to look at the skeletal remains of Greyson that laid on the floor. "How are we going to explain this to Dad." She asked. "They trusted Greyson with there lives. The citizens trusted him to. How will this effect the kingdom? How people look at us, once they find out someone they trusted so much turned out to be so evil."
Rapunzel had a point. The last thing we needed was for Corona not to trust us. And the only way for that to happen is if they never found out the truth about Greyson.
"They will never know." I said
"He unleashed poisoners fear gas on the city, killed multiple people, how are we going to hide that?"
"By having someone else take the blame." I said "Corona needs to be able to trust the people in power." Then I got up and put the hood back over my head took out one of my own arrows and put it into the chest area of Greyson's skeletal remains.
"What are doing?" Rapunzel asked
"I killed Greyson. I was responsible for that gas attack. That's what we will have them believe." I said as I slowly walked to one of the motorcycles that the Death Force rode up here on.
"What?" Spade gasped.
"Eugene?" Rapunzel gasped "No you can't do this, your not!?"
"I am, whatever Corona needs me to be!" I said as I got on the motorcycle and turned to Merida. "Call this in. and make sure you get Elsa to the hospital. Tell them I attacked her to, and when she comes through and the drugs in her system where's off and she is back in her right mind. Let her in on this, let her know I am taking the fall for Greyson.
"You don't have to do this." Merida said
"Corona needs people they can trust, ones who do not hide behind a mask." Then I drove off in the darkness as I heard Rapunzel tearfully crying out my name. I hated to do this. But if Corona knew about the real Greyson then their was a good chance they would never fully trust the monarchs or those who works for them again. As muck as I hated for it to end this way there was only one way to make sure that Greyson's reputation as well as the reputation for all those in power was safe. The Archer had to become a criminal.
That's it for this chapter. I know, shocker right? Bet you didn't see that coming. Yes I know I am borrowing the ending from the Dark Knight. I don't care it made for a good scene.
