Hello? Are you there, Tom?

Yes, Ginny. How are you?

Great actually! Sorry I haven't written anything for a few days, but now I finally have a bit of time to myself. The first few days have been so crazy! We have to get up at 7 o'clock on the dot, or when we get down to breakfast, all the fifth years are there hogging the orange juice and all the toast is gone. Not to mention there are barely enough seats and the other day I had to sit next to Percy. And the first thing he wanted to know was if I had seen Fred and George. Maybe he was asking me because he hadn't put on his glasses yet and couldn't actually see them sitting there, laughing. They were only a few seats away but George had somehow gotten a pair of glasses that looked suspiciously like Percy's… Anyway, it was hard not to laugh once I knew what was going on! Do you have any brothers or sisters?

Yes, I have an older brother called Henry who's nineteen.

Oh, that's such bad luck! I mean, great that you have a brother but older? How annoying are older brothers? I'm sick to death of them! Do you find that he lords it over you all the time?

All the time. Henry somehow convinced himself that three years age difference are enough to make him Nicholas Flamel- he nods in a superior manner and often repeats, 'Oh, my dear young Tom…' whenever I say anything worthwhile.

Oh, that's awful Tom. I kind of understand though- no one ever listens to me because I'm the youngest and the only girl. Fred and George always play jokes on everyone, but even though they tease me and pull my hair, I feel like they never listen to me or take me seriously at all.

It's the burden of being the younger one, Ginny.

I so get it. And Ron is just a git, you know?

In what way? Does he mistreat you?

Well… he always rolls his eyes at Harry whenever I'm around and it just makes me feel so embarrassed.

Embarrassed? Ginnyyou must tell me about this Harry. You have romantic feelings for him, don't you?

No! No, I- I don't.

Not wholly convincing, Ginny.

Tom…

Ginny

I'll tell you a bit more about Harry, but I am a bit embarrassed, you know! And I barely know you yet! I'd rather talk about other things for now, but I'll talk to you soon about him, okay?

Embarrassed? Ginny, you can talk to me about anything. I don't mind.

Oh, Tom… you're making me feel quite guilty. I WILL tell you next time, okay? Only I've got Transfiguration first thing tomorrow and McGonagall's quite scary if you're not full steam ahead by nine o'clock and I really need to sleep.

Of course, I understand. Well, I'll see you soon then.

Good night, Tom!

Good night, Ginny.
