Epilogue: Dreams of Love
2102
Sitting on a bench in the Sunnydale Park, Willow closed her eyes and let her head fall back to rest on the back of the bench. She was enjoying the feel of the sun on her face. For some reason, she couldn't get enough of the sunshine and the wind blowing through her red hair.
She sat like that for a long time, lost in the relaxing sensation of the sun and wind on her face. Some part of her felt like it had been centuries since she had felt this, but she knew that couldn't be possible. Even though she would still dream about a darkness inside herself. Sometimes she would even see a dark version of herself lurking in the shadows watching her. It terrified her, but Willow knew it couldn't be true. She wasn't evil. She would never be evil.
Lost in her thoughts, Willow was surprised when she felt a hand touch her shoulder lightly, causing her eyes to snap open and her head to jerk forward off the back of the bench. Staring into the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen, Willow felt her heart skip a beat and lodge itself into her throat.
"S-sorry. I wanted to m-make sure you w-were okay," the stranger said, her slight stutter warming Willow's heart.
"Fine. I'm finey-mcfine-fine," Willow announced, sitting up straighter and staring at the gorgeous blonde. "I was just enjoying the sun. It felt nice and the wind blowing in my hair was relaxing and I was really just enjoying it. I felt like I haven't had the sun on my face in a while which is strange because I go outside everyday but I just needed to feel it on my face. It's just so relaxing and..." Willow babbled until a hand covered her mouth.
"S-sorry. You just w-weren't b-breathing," the stranger announced, a small crooked smile pulling at her lips.
"Yeah. I tend to babble sometimes," Willow said, embarrassed that she had showed this beautiful stranger what a spazz she was.
"I s-stutter," the blonde offered, smiling nervously.
Willow smiled at the blonde and held out her hand. "Hi, I'm Willow."
"Tara," the girl said, smiling back at Willow as she took the redhead's hand.
"It's nice to meet you, Tara," Willow said, causing the blonde to blush.
"Y-you too," Tara whispered, dropping her head slightly to hide behind her hair. "I'm s-sorry for in-interrupting your r-relaxation."
"No, I'm glad you did. I got the chance to meet you. I mean, I feel like I know you from somewhere. Not that I'm stalking you cause I'm not. You just remind me of someone from my dreams, but not in the creepy way that sounds. You just make me think of this girl from my dreams that always makes me feel calm, and right now I'm probably weirding you out and I swear I'm not trying to. And can someone please just shut me up," Willow babbled, blushing bright red as she spoke.
"I-it's okay. You re-remind me of s-someone from my dreams too. I-I've al-always dreamt about this beautiful redhead who ma-made me feel safe," Tara said, smiling. "Y-you made me t-think of her."
"I'm glad," Willow replied, smiling brightly at Tara.
"Me too."
