Chapter 7: Happy... Spring?
Lucas woke up, rubbed his eyes and looked around. His dorm he shared with Ness was especially bright today. Lucas looked at the clock on the night-table and saw that it read 9:15 a.m.
Unlike his roommate, Lucas was a morning person.
He got up to change out of his pajamas and change into his typical attire, which was folded neatly on top of his dresser. Before he could take it off the dresser, however, he read a note that was attached to his clothes.
Tomorrow- First Day of Spring~ :)
Upon reading the note, Lucas immediately rushed to the bed next to his own and woke up Ness.
"Mmm... what is it, Lucas?" Ness asked, clearly still tired. "Why are you waking me up this early?"
"Remember yesterday?" Lucas said excitedly. "Today's the first day of spring."
Ness immediately sat up in bed.
"Are you serious?" Ness asked, now as excited as Lucas.
"Yeah! We have to go outside! And fast!"
Ness jumped out of bed and the two of them immediately got dressed in their signature attires. Pretty soon, Lucas and Ness were running down the hallway, yelling excitedly. The commotion they made woke up some of the other Smashers and many of them even yelled for Ness and Lucas to shut up, but the two kids ignored them.
"So, what should we do first, Lucas?" Ness asked.
"I think we should train so we can defeat those new people that are supposed to come soon," Lucas replied.
"But we do that all the time."
"No, we don't..."
Pretty soon, Lucas and Ness burst out the front door and prepared to embrace the new spring air.
There was just one problem...
Instead of nice and warm air coupled with flower beds and blue skies... the entire place was covered in snow as far as the eye could see. Not to mention it was freezing cold outside.
Obviously Lucas and Ness completely miscalculated.
Lucas sat on his bed and began to sob.
"I was really looking forward to today," he sobbed. "I seriously wanted to train outside today..."
"Lucas, it's okay," Ness said, putting his hand on Lucas' shoulder. "Even though it's snowing outside, I'm sure we can do something else."
"Really?" Lucas looked up. "What could we do?"
Ness tapped on his chin for a few moments.
"Oh, I know what we can do."
Lucas and Ness scurried down the corridor of Smash Manor. The two of them were carrying a Lip's Stick and giggling at what they were planning to do next.
"Remember, Lucas," Ness said. "We're only going to chase them. We're not gonna hurt them. Okay?"
"Okay," Lucas said, nodding.
Pretty soon, the two PSI-empowered boys turned a corner in the corner. A few moments later, they entered a room and stared at their targets: Kirby, Jigglypuff, Yoshi and Pikachu. All four of them were grouped together and fast asleep.
"So, we just give them a light tap with the flower, right?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah," Ness replied. "Then, we chase them." He chuckled. This made Lucas laugh a little, too.
"Okay, here goes."
Cautiously, Lucas and Ness tip-toed around the clump of snoozing critters, making it a point to stay as quiet as possible. Soon, Ness was behind Kirby and Lucas was behind Pikachu. The two PSI-empowered youths brandished their Lip's Sticks.
"Lucas, are you ready?" Ness whispered.
"Yeah."
No more words were needed after that. Lucas and Ness charged and prodded Kirby and Pikachu with their respective Lip's Stick, waking up Kirby and Pikachu and causing them to scurry down the hall, flowers attached to their heads. Subsequently, Yoshi and Jigglypuff woke up and started running, with flowers on their heads as well. As a result, Lucas and Ness gave chase, waving their Lip's Sticks all the while.
After a while, however, the group of 4 managed to outrun the two boys.
"I-I think they lost us..." Ness said, panting heavily.
Lucas fell to the floor, still panting.
"Yeah," he replied. "Ness, I'm exhausted. Can we go back to our dorm?"
"Sure." Ness helped Lucas and the two were about to go back to their dorm when they stopped dead in their tracks.
The entire hallway was covered wall-to-wall with flowers. Doors, walls, even the floor. Lucas and Ness looked at each other, mouths agape.
At that point, Zelda suddenly appeared, stepping out of one of the flower-covered doors. Upon seeing what had become of the hallway, she turned to Lucas and Ness, who dropped their Lip's Sticks
"So, you two did this to the hallway?" Zelda asked, slightly annoyed. She walked towards the 2 boys and promptly snatched the Lip's Sticks from both of them.
"Sorry, Zelda," Lucas explained. "It's just that... it's snowing outside and..."
"No," Zelda said. "You two are responsible for this, are you not? The two of you aren't leaving until all of these flowers are gone! And the two of you are forbidden from using PK Fire!"
With that, Zelda stormed off.
Ness and Lucas walked into the hall of flowers and began to pull the flowers off every visible surface. Since the entire hallway was covered with flowers, they had a lot of work to do, especially without PK Fire. But while they were busy pulling off flowers—which, by the way, was more difficult than one would think; it is the Lip's Stick, after all—Lucas and Ness had one thing going through their minds.
The two of them had made their own spring.
And that, dear readers, is a true bromance. :) ;)
I started this in the spring and I have posted this in the early summer. I have no regrets. If there is anything to blame, it's my busy life. There's nothing else you need to know.
Hope you enjoyed. :)
