A/N: Hey, sorry I didn't upload last week. Let's just say some family matters got in the way. Anyway, I plan on uploading two chapters starting next week because I'll be starting college on June 2nd and I want to get this done before school starts.
Also did you guys see the teaser trailer for Dragons: Race to the Edge yet? If you haven't go look it up!
A month after The Hofferson Wedding, Valka and Ingrid got close. About everyone in the village thinks Ingrid became pregnant during the honeymoon, not knowing she is three months along. The only ones who knew about Ingrid being pregnant before she got married were Gothi, Asmund, and Valka.
While Ingrid was trying to hide how far along she was, Valka's 20th birthday was coming up. The young teen wanted to do something special for her, and what better way to show it than on her birthday. Of course Ingrid didn't know Valka well enough, so she wasn't so sure what to do.
When Ingrid walked out of her house, she saw her chief talking to one of the shepherds. The teen walked up to the men and tapped Stoick on the shoulder. "Ah, hello Mrs. Hofferson, what seems to be the trouble?"
"There's no trouble, I was just wondering if you had anything planned for Valka's birthday."
"I wish I had time to. The Thorstons want me to come over and talk to their son and his fiancée tonight."
"Oh well…maybe I can help."
Stoick gave her a weak smile and put his hand on her shoulder. "That's very nice of you, but I don't think that'll be happening."
Ingrid looked at her chief in concern. "Why's that?"
Stoick sighed and leaned down to her level. "Unn was put on bed rest this morning. Valka's been taking care of her since Spitelout left to get food."
"Wait what? Unn was put on bed rest?"
"Yes, but I don't know all the details. I'm pretty sure she'd love it if you came by to visit. We're not sure how long she'll be in bed."
Ingrid nodded and gave him a smile. "Okay, thanks chief." Then she walked off to go to Unn's house.
~oOo~
"You know you don't have to do this." Unn said when Valka put a pillow behind her back.
"Yes I do, we're family and we need to look out for each other." She replied with a smile.
"Well, then let me look out for you by saying, 'go home and worry about your own baby'." She ranted only to receive a smack upside her head. When Unn whined in pain, they heard a knock at the door. Valka walked to the front door to open it, and saw her young friend standing on the other side.
"Oh hi Ingrid, what brings you here?"
"Stoick told me about Unn and I wanted to see how she was doing."
Valka let out a groan and let her in. "Unn's been sore ever since Gothi put her on bed rest. So if she gets a little snappy don't take it personally." Ingrid bit her lip and followed Valka to Unn's room. When Valka opened the door, Unn smiled and opened up her arms.
"Ingrid! It's so nice to see you again!" Unn greeted seeing the blonde teen walk in. Valka was dumbfounded by Unn's reaction. When Valka walked in earlier that morning, Unn let out a groan.
Ingrid walked over to Unn and gave her a hug. "How do you feel?" Ingrid asked her when she let go.
"Horrible, my back has been killing me so Gothi thought this might fix it." Unn groaned as she gestured to herself.
"Well, maybe we can distract you," Ingrid suggested.
"How?"
Valka snapped her finger, "I got it. Why don't we do things for our babies? Like make baby clothes."
"Yeah, that sounds nice." Unn said as she rubbed her swollen bump.
Ingrid turned her head to Valka and frowned. "Baby clothes? Really? That's your solution to distract her?"
"Why not? We're all expecting, our husbands are going to be out all night. We might as well do something with our time." Valka explained to her.
Ingrid rolled her eyes, and then nodded. "Okay alright, I'll get my mother's knitting kit."

A few days later, Valka's 20th birthday had arrived. Stoick wasn't so sure how to celebrate his wife's birthday. So many things kept coming up and he felt terrible. It looked like he wouldn't be there to celebrate with her. Before he left to do his chiefly duties, he walked into the bed room and saw his wife sleeping in bed.
Stoick walked up to her and bent down to kiss her temple. He saw her tense up then relax by his touch. He walked out of the room and went off to help the village.

That evening, Valka was having time with her family and Gobber at The Great Hall. Valka was staring to get worried because her husband was out all day. She didn't know if he had to eaten a meal yet. Then she heard the door to the hall opening and saw her husband walking in.
Stoick walked to his wife and her family and sat next to her. "I'm sorry I'm late. Those Thorstons are getting on my last nerve. Freya forbid them to have any more descendants."
"Oh it's okay, grab a bite and we'll help you catch up," Valka said. Stoick did so and spent the rest of the night relaxing with no worries. Of course the only thing that kept nagging him was his fear of being a father. This child might be the one who he'd raise.
He didn't know how to be a father since his father was gone most of the time when he was growing up. He was with his mother throughout his childhood, and didn't spend real quality time with his father until she died. Even then he hardly knew his father. He wasn't entirely sure how to raise a child without messing it up.

After they ate dinner, Stoick and Valka went home to get ready for bed. After they got dressed for bed, Valka held all the clothes for the baby up. Stoick's fear kept rising when he saw the pile of clothes. Valka must have noticed because she put a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you okay?"
"Uh? Oh yeah I'm fine," He lied. Valka sat down next to him on the bed and placed her hand on his.
"Stoick, I've known you long enough to know that you're lying. Now what's wrong?" he groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Alright, alright. I'm worried about being a father."
Valka let out a light laugh. "You think I'm not worried either? I'm terrified of being a mother."
"At least you had someone to show you what it's like. I mean, I was never close with my father. What if I end up just like him?"
Valka sighed and wrapped her arms around his large shoulders. "It's okay to worry, we'll learn on the job when he gets here."
"How are you sure that it's going to be a boy?"
"I've been having dreams about a green eyed boy." She said proudly with a smile.
"What about his hair color?"
"The hair color is different in every dream." Stoick smiled at her response and felt his fear decreasing knowing she was scared too. Maybe being a parent won't be as bad as he thought.
A/N: Just to let you know if you have never been pregnant or never been around pregnant women before, having dreams about what your child will look like and their gender is common. Normally what ever you dream most about is likely what your child will look like.
Anyway, I know this chapter wasn't very exciting, but the good stuff is coming and I can't wait to write it!
