A/N: Wow, guys. It's the last chapter *tear goes down cheek*.
Also, please read my Author's Note at the end of this chapter.
Valka walked around her old village where she lived 20 years ago. She saw the people repairing their homes after the battle. She watched dragons using their fire to melt the ice that surrounded them. Then she heard little kids laughing as they ran by her playing with a baby Gronckle. She chuckled and continued walking with her dragon following her.
Then she looked up seeing men starting to carve her late husband's image above The Great Hall. She felt her heart drop looking at the carving. She missed 20 years with him, and she couldn't take them back. She would always regret not coming back to Berk and not raising her son. Then she saw the Night Fury landing by the piles of wood to repair the houses. She watched her son dismount to stack up the woods and tie them up together. She watched him signal to his husky friend on the Gronckle to tie the rope around his dragon.
She then felt a tap on her shoulder and she saw a young blonde woman smiling at her. She recognized her from helping them when Drago invaded her home. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm Astrid and this is my Nadder, Stormfly," she said gesturing to her blue dragon with a warm smile.
Valka looked at the young woman with wide eyes. "Astrid? As in Astrid Hofferson?" The young woman nodded making Valka smile. "You're Asmund and Ingrid's daughter?"
"Their only kid," she said. Valka kept her smile then pulled the young girl in a hug. Astrid was frozen by her action. When Valka realized what she had done, she pulled herself away.
"I'm sorry; it's just that… I should have known you were Ingrid's, you look just like her. I knew you when you were a baby. I used to be good friends with your mother." Valka explained seeing Astrid giving her a sincere smile. Before she could reply, she turned her head when she heard her name being called.
"Hey Astrid, can you help a man out here?!" Hiccup called out after Meatlug flew away with some wood.
"It depends, which one's the man!?" she called seeing his head roll back knowing he was laughing.
"Oh good one, now can you please help me?!" he shouted gesturing to the piles of stone and wood.
"I'm coming babe!" she shouted then turned to Valka. "Well, I have to go, chief needs me. It was nice to finally talk to you." She said before walking away from Valka. The older woman smiled watching her walking up to her son. Once Astrid was standing next to him, Hiccup wrapped an arm around her shoulders then kissed her temple. She wrapped her arm around his side giving him a light squeeze before they started to pick up the piles of rubble.
As Valka watched the two, she heard someone walking towards her. She turned her head and saw Gobber standing next to her. "So, what are you thinking about?" he asked as they watched the people fixing up the village.
"That I was wrong to leave." She answered keeping her eyes on her son.
Gobber patted her back. "Don't be so hard on yourself; you know your son has forgiven you."
"Then why do I feel so….." she let out a sigh crossing her arms looking at the ground. Gobber rested his hand on her back trying to think of something to say.
"Maybe you just need to clear your head for a while," he suggested. Valka nodded and started to walk away from her old friend with Cloudjumper.
~oOo~
Valka walked up to where she used to live. The house wasn't touched by the ice, but it had one spike of ice resting by it. The Stormcutter watched Valka walk into the house that he took her from all those years ago. Valka smiled entering her home as memoires flooded back. She then looked towards the dining table and saw the chair that her husband had sat in the most. Valka took a deep breath walking to the chair. Once she was next to it, she brushed her fingers in the carving of the back of the chair.
"Mom?" She jumped at the voice and turned her head finding her son by the doorway.
"Oh son, I didn't hear you come in." she mumbled noticing him holding something behind his back. "What you got there?" she asked pointing to his hidden hand.
"Oh I was uh…." He let out a sigh in defeat and lowered his shoulders. "I was going to surprise you at dinner. I got you a little 'welcome-back-home' gift." He answered moving his hand away from his back. Valka felt her heart skip a beat when she saw her gift. "I found these roses years ago, I almost forgot about them. I thought you might like them."
Valka placed her fingers on her mouth looking at the small of bouquet yellow and red roses. She swallowed the growing lump before she spoke. "Are those the roses planted by a young ever green?" she asked walking up to him.
"Uh yeah…." He answered handing his mother the flowers. Valka brushed her fingertips on a rose petal as memories flooded back. Valka felt a small tear leaving the corner of her eye. She brushed it away with a finger as she let out a shaky sigh.
"I love it," she whispered wrapping her arms around his neck. Hiccup hugged his mother back feeling the flowers in her hands resting by the side of his face. Once Valka let go of her son, she placed the flowers on the table and smiled at her son. "Thank you and I don't mean just about the gift."
"You're welcome," he replied with a smile. The two stared at each other in silence, and then Hiccup pursed his lips and cupped his hands together. "Well, I better head back and help the others."
"I'll be there to help in a moment. I just want to look around first, then I'll be out there." She uttered before watching her son walking out of the house. She let out a sigh once he shut the door behind him. Valka walked back to the chieftain chair and placed the roses on the seat. She then pressed her finger tips on her lips then placed on the arm of the chair. She took one last look around the house before stepping outside. She heard Cloudjumper purring once he saw her walking out of the house. He nudged her and Valka petted his scaly head looking at the village.
She watched the people cleaning up the village and heard the men breaking rock above The Great Hall. She let out one last sigh and walked to the middle of the village. "Come on Cloudjumper, they're going to need all the help they can get."
A/N: I can't believe it, it's over...The first chapter was written for little over 9 months ago! That's insane! I just want to thank you guys for being on this journey with me! It's been fun, but it doesn't have to end.
I will be making another Stalka fanfic that's NOT based on this one. It's going to be a different story and Valka will not be a Jorgenson like she was in this one. I'm not sure when it will be posted because I'm now in college. Maybe it'll be up by Thanksgiving break, I don't know yet.
Also, speaking of other fanfics, the next HTTYD fanfic that will be posted that was voted by you guys is *drum roll* MARRIED LIFE! YAY! This fanfic might be rated M due to suggestive adult themes (and to play it safe). There will be NO lemons, but possible limes in later chapters. I also changed the summary so here's the new one:
Married Life-(Married Hiccstrid AU) When Asmund Hofferson realized he can no longer support his daughter, marriage seemed to be the only answer for her. However, the person he chose for her is her best friend. What would it be like for two friends to marry due to financial and unexpected situations? Will these two stay friends, or will a romance start to bud? (Takes place after GOTNF and based off of RoB and beyond)
Also my one-shot ESCAPED was short by two votes, so these two fanfic will be upload close together. Expect to find Married Life in a week or two and Escaped sometime after the first few chapters have been up.
I just want to say thank you once again for reading, review and just supporting me. It's been great, and I hope to see you guys again, bye!
