THE SALVATORE SISTER - CHAPTER THREE - WHAT HAPPENED
The sun was rising behind the trees and Violette started to wake up by the lights coming through her windows. The last couple of day she had been sleeping horrible. Every night she had nightmares. Every night the same nightmare over and over again. Maybe her father was right, maybe she shouldn't be alive. She had killed her own mother and got away with it. She was a bad person.
Violette got out of bed and took a bath. She was searching for the right dress to wear, she choose a proper red dress. She braided her hair and went downstairs to get some breakfast before going to school.
When she walked into the kitchen, she noticed her brothers had been arguing. They both had stopped talking and they both had set their eyes on her. Damon was the one who approached her. ''Come on Violet, I'll bring you to school.'', he said as he grabbed her wrist and walked over to the door, heading outside. Violette didn't had the chance to do anything. She just got dragged along with him. Before he went outside he grabbed her bag.
Once they were on their way to school, Violette grew curious about the argument their brother had this morning. ''What's going on between you and Stefan?'', she asked him. Damon let out a sigh before he looked at her. ''Don't worry about it. It will be alright.'', he told her, trying to comfort her. He didn't want to put her under more pressure. The incident with their father had made quite an impact on her, he could see. She didn't need to have more on her mind, not about Katherine or the rest of the town. Violette looked at him and changed the subject. She didn't want to know more. Maybe it was for the best. ''Will Miss Pierce be coming over today?'', she asked and she saw her brother nodding in response.
They continued to talk about Katherine a bit more. Violette noticed Damon really cared about her, but so did Stefan.
For Violette is was an ordinary school day. Nothing special happened. Like always she was more silent then the rest of the children. When school was over, Violette went straight to home, but some other children decided to follow her. Giving her bad names. ''Your brother not here to pick you up weirdo?''. one of the boys said. Violette ignored him and started to run home.
Once she was at home, she went straight to the garden. Dropping her schoolbag next to the swing. When she got on the swing she stared at the small lake in their garden. Normally staring at the water would help her calm down, but not this time. It was all just too much for her.
Violette could hear footsteps approaching. She didn't bother to look. ''Oh sweetie, why are you crying?'', a female voice said. Even through it sounded comforting, Violette didn't want to give in. Not yet. She looked away from the water and her eyes set down on the female. It was Miss Pierce.
Katherine Pierce could see the broken look in the eyes of the girl. Katherine could see she had gone through a lot for someone of her age. She kneeled down beside the girl and looked into her eyes. She noticed it was the same color as Damon's eyes. ''I don't think we have officially met. I'm Katherine Pierce.'', she said with a smile, trying to comfort the little girl.
With a questioning look in her eyes, Violette looked at the woman. She wondered why Miss Pierce would be so nice to her. ''I'm Violette Salvatore. It's nice to meet you Miss Pierce.'', Violette softly replied. Katherine let out a chuckle. ''Oh please! You may call me Katherine. Miss Pierce makes me feel old.'', Katherine chuckled. Her chuckle comforted Violette a little. She showed a small smile. ''Tell me sweetie. Why are you crying?'', Katherine said with a comforting voice. Violette looked away from her, her eyes locked staring at the water once again. Even through Katherine had been nice to her, she didn't want to tell her why she felt bad. Not her. Not Miss Pierce. She was one of the reasons why she was feeling bad and abandoned.
Violette jumped off the swing and decided to walk away, but before she had the chance to walk away, Katherine grabbed her hand and made her stop walking. ''Wait sweetie-'', Katherine started. Violette tried to escape from her grip and started to get afraid of her. What if she would hurt her just like her father had done? ''Let me go.'', Violette softly protested. Without any hesitation Katherine let go of her. ''I can help you Vio.'', she said when she let's go of Violette's wrist.
That made Violette starting to feel angry. ''Only Damon calls me like that.'', Violette told her. ''Not you! Not someone who takes him away from me!'', Violette started to raise her voice. Violette wanted to push her away while Katherine was still kneeled down in front of her, but when Violette raised her hands, Katherine both took them in her grip. ''Don't.'', Katherine ordered her. ''Let me gooo!'', Violette shouted back at her as she tried to get out of her grip.
It took a few seconds before Katherine let go of her. Once released from her strong grip, Violette felt down on her back. ''What the hell?'', Damon said as he approached them. Violette quickly got up and looked at him, feeling quite ashamed of herself for shouting at Miss Pierce. ''What happened?'', he asked as he helped Katherine up before looking at Violette for answers. Violette ignored his question, the only thing she could see that he was helping her. Miss Pierce. Why would he help Miss Pierce and not her? Had she been replaced? ''Answer me Violette!'', he said on a stern tone now. To be honest, his stern voice made her quite scared, but she felt betrayed. By her big brother. ''You only care about her!'', she spat back at him. She could see her outburst was quite a surprise to him.
With tears in her eyes she looked at him and Katherine. She couldn't take this anymore. She turned around and started to run. Away from home, far far away from home. She had no idea where she would end up, but she didn't care. Anywhere was better then just at home.
It was already dark outside while Violette still wandered around. She ended up at the Wickery bridge. She noticed they were still busy repairing the bridge. The people who were busy repairing the bridge must have gone home already. There was no one. She could see an open spot and walked toward it. She looked around, it was quiet. No one was at the bridge. She sighed as she stopped walking. She looked over the edge. It was high, very high. Everyone hates me, I'm worthless. Maybe I should be dead. Just like they all want.
Another look around. The was no one, no one for her. She swallowed as she could feel her eyes become watery again and she jumped.
