Chapter Seven
"Lock it!"
"Do I look like I have a key?!"
"Grab something!"
"Like what?!"
"Anything!"
"Would you two calm the fuck down!" Lina finally yelled, making them freeze. She should have known that her day was gonna go to shit the second Scott called Stiles, telling them to meet him at the school. "Panicking isn't going to help, so take a breath and chill for a moment."
Stiles suddenly went outside (Lina didn't try as hard as she could've to stop him since she knew that Peter wouldn't hurt him, at least not too bad) and was about to pick up pliers when Peter in his Alpha form came out from behind the Jeep. She and Scott began banging on the windows to get his attention and Stiles grabbed the pliers, running into the school before putting the pliers in the door. They looked out the window to see that the Alpha was gone.
"Where is it?" Scott asked. "Where did it go?"
They all stepped away from the door.
"That's not going to hold." Lina stated, eyeing the pliers.
"No, it won't." Stiles confirmed.
There was a howl and the trio shared looks before taking off down the hallway and into one of the classrooms. They were about to move the teacher's desk in front of the door before Stiles stopped them.
"The door isn't going to keep it out." he stated.
"I know." Scott sighed in defeat.
"It's your boss."
Lina knew he didn't believe that, he was just covering for Peter.
"What?"
"Deaton, the Alpha? Your boss." Lina played along.
"No!" Scott shook his head, protesting.
"Yes!" she exclaimed.
"Murdering, psycho-werewolf!" Stiles added just for kicks, making Lina inwardly giggle. Their sense of humor worried their father sometimes.
"That can't be!" Scott continued to protest.
"Oh, come on!" Stiles snapped. "He disappears and shows up ten seconds later to toss Derek twenty feet into the air. That's not convenient timing?"
"It's not him."
Lina rolled her eyes. "He killed Derek, Scott." Truthfully, she believed Derek was alive. Peter might not like his nephew at the moment, but he wouldn't kill him now that's he's got some of his sanity back. Maim a bit, yes, but not kill.
"No, Derek's not dead." Scott replied. "He can't be dead."
"Blood spurted out of his mouth, okay?" Stiles said. "That doesn't qualify as a minor injury. He's dead and we're next."
"Then what do we do?"
"We get to my Jeep, we get out of here, and you seriously think about quitting." was Stiles' answer.
Moving to the windows, Scott tried to open it only to have Stiles stop him.
"They don't open, the school is climate controlled."
"Then we brake it."
"Which will make a lot of noise."
"Then... uh... we run fast really fast. Really fast." Scott said, scanning the world outside the window. "... Stiles, what's wrong with the hood of your jeep?"
"What do you mean? Nothing's wrong." Stiles furrowed his eyebrows, confused.
"It's bent." Scott pointed out.
"What, like dented?"
"No, I mean bent."
"What the hell-" Stiles started, but he was cut off by the window next to us smashing to pieces.
Lina cursed and looked at what broke the window. Oh. Stiles was going to kill Peter.
"That's my battery." her brother near whimpered. "My baby,"
Yup, Peter was dead.
"We have to move." Lina stated.
"He could be right outside." Scott protested.
"He is right outside." she hissed back, glaring at him.
Scott got up a bit and looked out the window.
"See anything?" Stiles asked.
Scott shook his head.
"Move now?"
"Move now." Scott confirmed.
As quickly as they could, they scrambled out of the classroom, stepping over shards of broken glass. Lina glanced down at her heels.
"I'd kill for my converse right now." she commented, getting a dirty look form Scott while Stiles silently snickered.
"This way," Scott started, but was stopped by Stiles. "What?"
"Somewhere without windows."
"The locker room."
The twins nodded and the three headed for the locker room.
"Call your dad." Scott demanded the second they were in the locker room.
"And tell him what?"
"A gas leak, a fire, anything. If that thing sees a parking lot full of cops, it'll take off."
"What if it goes completely terminator and kills every cop in sight, including our dad?" Stiles asked.
"Or if they send only a few people?" Lina added. "Normal bullets won't stop it." she reminded the teen wolf.
"What about you two?"
The twins stared. "... What do you mean?"
"You guys have these awesome powers, right?"
"Powers that we barely have control of and know how to use. Lina and I could end up killing not only the Alpha, but ourselves too if we do something wrong." Stiles stated, half-lying.
"Then we have to find a way out and make a run for it."
"There's nothing near the school for at least a mile." Lina commented.
"What about Derek's car?"
"That could work. We go outside and get him and his keys." Stiles nodded.
"Why can't we leave him here?" Both the twins glared darkly at their best friend, who winced. "Sorry."
They headed for the door and Lina was about to open it when Scott grabbed her wrist.
"I think I heard something." he whispered.
"What?!"
"Be quiet!" Scott scolded, looking at the blurry glass. "Hide!"
The three of them quickly picked a locker each and hid in it. Lina heard the door open, soon followed by footsteps, and jumped when she heard a locker open and a scream. She burst out of her locker to see a janitor glaring at her brother and Scott.
"Quiet!" Lina and Stiles hissed at the man.
"Quiet, my ass!" the janitor yelled. "What the hell are you trying to do?! Kill me?! The three of you, get out!"
Just listen for half a second, okay?!" Stiles whisper-yelled, impatience and irritation in his eyes.
"Not okay! Get the hell out of here, right now!"
"God, just one second to explain." Stiles insisted as they were ushered out of the room.
"Just shut up and go-"
The janitor was suddenly yanked into the locker room and the door slammed shut. Blood appeared on the window as he screamed in pain, yelling for help. Scott tried to open the door to help him, but Lina and Stiles dragged him away, knowing it was a lost cause. They ran until they reached an exit, only to discover that it was being block from the outside by a dumpster. They continued walking down a different hallway.
"I'm not dying here. I'm not dying in school." Stiles said rapidly, even though he knew Peter wouldn't kill him.
Lina snorted. "Oh, god. Can you imagine? Dying in school." she shuddered for effect.
Scott shot them glares. "We're not going to die." he told them in frustration, running a hand through his hair.
"What's he doing anyway? What does he want?"
"Me. Derek said it's stronger in a Pack."
"Great! A psychotic werewolf that's into teamwork! That-that's beautiful!" Stiles said sarcastically as Scott came to a stop at a wall of windows.
Scott held an arm out so that Stiles and Lina stopped as well and the twins followed his gaze out the window. On the roof across from them was the Alpha. When he saw that they had noticed him, he took off towards them, causing them to dash off in different directions as it crashed through the window. They ran to the door leading to the stairs and ran as fast as they could, making it down to the basement. They went the opposite direction the growls were coming from.
"We have to do something." Stiles said.
"Like what?"
"I don't know. Kill it, hurt it, put mental anguish in it, something!"
"Well, what ever we do, make sure we do it quickly. I'm wearing heels and my feet are really starting to hurt." Lina sighed. Next thing she knew, Stiles had locked it in the electrical room before proceeding to trash talk it. She snorted inwardly. That must be payback for his jeep, she thought. Lina let out a groan when Scott stopped them once again. "What now?" she hissed to him.
"Do you hear that?"
The twins gave him blank looks as an answer.
"It sounds like a phone ringing... I know that ring. It's Allison's phone."
Lina cursed colorfully, making Stiles arch an eyebrow at her while Scott used Stiles' phone to call Allison. They headed for the lobby, which is were Scott had told Allison to meet them. When Allison joined them, she showed them the text that Scott had supposedly sent.
"Why do I get the feeling that you didn't send this message?" Allison asked him.
"Because I didn't." he responded.
"Did you drive here?" Stiles asked her.
"Jackson did." she answered.
"Jackson's here?" Lina asked, eyebrows furrowed.
"And Lydia. What's going on?"
Allison's phone rang and soon after she answered it, Lydia and Jackson showed up.
"Finally. Can we go now?" Lydia asked.
A thud came from the ceiling, followed by scattering and creaking.
"Run!" Scott ordered and they took off, just as the ceiling collapsed.
The ended up in the cafeteria. Lina groaned when she saw the windows and tried, along with her brother, to get the others' attention as they proceeded to block the doors, though it was pointless.
"Guys!" Stiles finally screamed, getting their attention. "Nice work, everyone. Really, beautiful job. Now what do we do about the twenty foot wall of windows?" he asked sarcastically.
"Can somebody please explain what's going on, because I'm freaking out here," Allison begged, taking Scott's arm.
"Somebody killed the janitor." Stiles answered after Scott broke away from her.
"What?" Lydia looked at them with disbelief.
Allison's breathing got heavy as she scoffed, trying to control her thoughts. "What's he talking about? Is this a joke? Lina?"
"What? Who killed him?" Jackson demanded.
"No, no, no, no," Lydia shook her head. "Th-this was supposed to be over. The mountain lion was killed-"
"No, don't you get it?" Jackson asked, turning to his girlfriend. "This wasn't a mountain lion."
"Who was it? What does he want? What does he want? Scott!" Allison pleaded.
"I- I- I- I don't know! I- I- I just... I- if we go out there, he's gonna kill us!"
Lina ran a hand though her hair, grabbing Stiles' hand tightly. He smiled reassuringly at her, kissing her forehead.
"It's Derek!"
Lina snapped to attention, her blood going cold. Beside her, Stiles paled.
"It's Derek Hale." Scott continued.
Lina and Stiles stared at him with betrayal, anger, and hurt. Lina lunged for him, Stiles barely managing to catch her around the waist.
"You son of a bitch!" she snarled, struggling against her brother. Scott ignored her, as did the others.
"Lina. Lina! Calm- you have to calm down." Stiles hissed, catching a glimpse of the sparks on her finger tips. "Please."
She collapsed against him, her hands twisted in his shirt. "How could he, Sti?" she whispered.
"I- I don't know, Li, but we'll kick his ass later."
"I want Derek. I want Peter. I just, I can't deal right now."
He rubbed her back comfortingly, shooting Scott a dark glare.
"Everything will be fine. Just, try not to kill Scott before we get out."
"No promises."

Lina stayed a little ways away from the group, arms wrapped around her waist as she stared off into space. She only jerked out of her trance when her brother sucker punched Jackson. In the face. The blonde went down (making Lina inwardly cheer for her brother) and to Lina's surprise, Allison was the one to run to the jock's side. Lina glanced at Lydia to see her glaring daggers at the brunette and the mage went to her side, grabbing her hand. Lydia turned to her and Lina could tell that the girl was more than angry. She was doubting Jackson's feelings for her. Tightening her grasp, she gave her a reassuring smile. Suddenly, the door began shaking, like something was pushing against it.
"The kitchen." Stiles said after ending the voicemail to he and Lina's dad. "The door in the kitchen opens up to a stairwell."
"Which only goes up!" Scott yelled.
"Up is better than here."
They ran up the stairs and down the hallway, trying to find an unlocked door. Lydia opened the door to their chemistry class and they piled into it, locking the door behind them. Lina sat on a desk to give her aching feet a rest. She was so wearing her converse tomorrow.
"Jackson, how many people can fit in your car?" Scott asked.
"Six, if two people squeeze on someone's lap." Jackson responded.
"Six?! I barely fit in the back!" Allison exclaimed.
Scott made up his mind that he was going to get the keys to the fire escape from the janitor's dead body which, to everyone else, sounded like a death wish. Lydia made a self-igniting Molotov cocktail for Scott to use as a weapon and, right before he left, Lina declared she was going too.
"What?!" Stiles immediately yelled. "Hell the fuck no! You're staying here!"
"I agree. Scott's already going out there. You can't too." Lydia spoke up. "Don't leave us here."
Lina frowned and pulled her into a hug. "I don't want to leave you guys here alone, especially since someone wants to kill us, but I don't trust Scott by himself right now. Besides, I know self defense and heels make an excellent weapon."
Lydia nodded in understanding while Allison looked at her with teary eyes.
Stiles hesitated. "Li,"
She smiled reassuringly at him. "I'll be fine." "Then she left with Scott.
They head down the stairs to the first floor and Scott follows the scent of blood to the gym. He finds the janitor's body strung up under the bleachers and Lina patiently waits for him to get the keys, spotting the Alpha. It, or he, seems to grin at her as he closes the bleachers. Lina smiles and waves before putting a terrified look on her face. The Alpha approaches Scott, who throws the Molotov cocktail, but, unfortunately in Scott's case, it doesn't ignite. Instead, the Alpha grabs Scott and slides him across the floor, pinning him down and roaring. The sound shakes the building and Scott writhes on the floor, as the alpha forces him to shift. When Scott leaves, under the Alpha's thrall and completely ignoring Lina, the red eyed werewolf approaches Lina and sniffs at her, sitting down. She smiled and hugged him, kissing his nose before nuzzling him. He whined and curled around her.
"I have to go, but I'll visit you soon." she whispered to him, backing away.
He nodded before running off, taking the body with him.
She sighed and left the gym.

"Well, we survived, dude. You know? We outlasted the Alpha. It's still good, right? Being alive?" Stiles asked Scott later that night, after the police arrived and everyone was examined.
"I, for one, am glad to be alive and kickin'." Lina smirked.
"When we were in the chemistry room, he walked right by us. You don't think that he heard us? You don't think that it knew exactly where we were?" Scott asked the skeptically.
Lina and Stiles shared a look. They knew that the Alpha had purposely ignored them, because they knew that Peter had some type of plan.
"Well, then how come we're still alive?" Stiles asked.
"It wants me in it's pack. But first- I think it wants me to get rid of my old Pack."
"What do you mean? What old Pack?"
"Allison. Jackson and Lydia. It doesn't want to kill them. It wants me to kill them. And that's not even the worst part, because when he made me shift- I wanted to do it. I wanted to kill them."
"Wait. What about Stiles and I? He doesn't want you to kill us?" Lina asked.
Scott's eyebrows furrowed. "No. Actually, I wanted to protect you, Stiles more so than you, Lina."
Inwardly, Lina smirked slyly. Re-ealy, she purred in her mind. I think Pete has a confession to make.
So, I was wondering if I should have Kate become a bit obsessed with Lina, just to have a twist. If I do, things will get real interesting when I get to season four *smirks*
