A.N- Hey guys, sorry for not posting sooner. I'm working on some other stories at the moment which you should all totally check out. For the plot I'm writing at the moment, we're gonna start off with Scarlet/Jack and the next chapter will be Whouffle (Hopefully). Make sure you guys keep on reviewing so I know what you think! :)
The couple caught Scarlet and Jack by surprise. They were hiding behind a nearby tree and jumped out, the male hitting Jack square in the head with a large club. Scarlet quickly reacted by shooting them both in the chest, the yellow pulse propelling them back a couple meters. The loud muffle of a speaker went off as the bodies hit the ground.
"Players 5 and 6, deceased." Scarlet took a deep breath and look up at the sky.
"They're not dead, they're just asleep." The announcement went off again.
"Players 5 and 6, deceased." Scarlet got angry.
"It was a stun gun!." Scarlet walked over and kicked a tree. She felt a crack in her toe, them grabbed it in pain. As she turned around she noticed Jack laying on the dirt, a large bump on his head. She carefully walked over and inspected the body.
"Is he... dead?" She asked herself, poking his face and checking for a heart beat. As she leaned over him, he sat up quickly gasping for air. The bump on his head slowly residing.
"Oh good, you died."
"I'm happy to see you too." He said sarcastically. Scarlet frowned.
"No, its just, I'm glad you died so you don't have a concussion or anything." She said nervously.
"Yeah Red, I understand." Scarlet rolled her eyes and then pulled him off of the ground. They both walked over and took a look at their now deceased attackers. They both had long messy hair, hairy bodies and ragged clothes covering their privates.
"Caveman?" Jack asked as he inspected the couple.
"Where did they get cavemen from?" Scarlet asked.
"Well they picked me up in the 22 century, I think they could pick them up in the B.C's."
"Weird, I hope that they're not my greeeeeeaaaaat grandparents or something."
"You're still here, so I wouldn't think so." The couple put all their things into the two bigger-on-the-inside bags and then took off, leaving the dead bodies behind. They both walked with their guns raised, prepared for any trouble coming their way. Scarlet was still feeling guilty.
"Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"I killed those people."
"Yeah, how else did they die?" He asked sarcastically.
"No, but...why do you think I carry a stun gun?"
"Because the Doctor broke it?"
"Well yeah, and because I don't kill people. But this Game Station did something to my gun."
"Oh I see, you feel guilty about killing them."
"Yep."
"Scarlet, it was self-defense. You we're saving yourself."
"Yeah, but think how many generations I just killed off with two shots of a blaster."
"You're thinking like a Time Lord, not a survivalist. You need to save yourself before you worry about any of those things." Of course, Jack was right. She was alive, and that was important at the moment. As they walked through a small opening in the trees, the sun shone on them. The warm heat hit their skin, making them feel a little better. As the sun hit the trees, Scarlet noticed something.
"Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"That tree has two shadows." Before he could say a word, he grabbed Scarlet's hand and ran for it. He bolted out of the clearing and into the deeper forest.
"Vasta Nerada." He finally breathed out. "They hide in the dar-"
"Yeah, I know. I read about it in a book." She interrupted. They finally stopped running, taking deep breaths. "Do you think... its safe." Scarlet asked, pausing to dip her foot into the shadow.
"Let's find out." He pulled a small piece of beef jerky out of his pack and threw it into the shadow. The meat hit the ground, no signs of bite marks or anything. Jack picked it up and put it in his mouth.
"That's disgusting." Scarlet gagged.
"Yeah, well at least were safe, why don't you eat something." He pulled a chunk of bread out and handed it to the red covered girl. She took the bread and slowly ate it. A she took a step forward, she landed on her toe forcefully, causing her to fall to the dirt with pain. Jack noticed immediately and was at her side.
"What happened?"
"I think I broke my toe earlier when you died."
"And you made me drag you across the forest?"
"I think not being eaten alive is a little more important than my toe!" He slipped off her converse and sock and took a look at her foot. Her big toe was slanted to the side and swollen red.
"Let me fix it," Jack offered, grabbing her toe. Scarlet reacted quickly, moving her foot away from him.
"No it's fine, just let it heal on its own." Jack leaned in close, his blue eyes staring into hers.
"Trust me." Before the girl could react, the annoying sound of Sky Anderson's voice went onto the intercom.
"Hello love birds! Only half the competition remains so I thought it would be the perfect time to have our first challenge!" Her voice paused as some catchy music went off. "This competition is called make it or break it! All the couples have a minute to perform a perfect make out session! The best one will receive a little gift to help them, while the worst will be killed instantly, isn't this fun? Your minute starts now!"
As the lady's perky voice ceased, Scarlet let out a grumble. It wasn't just the fact that she had to kiss Jack, it was also the fact that the immortal idiot snapped her toe back when she was busy listening to the message. The pain finally subdued as she put the sock and shoe back on and stood up.
"It should be healed in an hour or so." Scarlet said.
"Good, but we have something else to worry about, forty seconds."
"We're both good actors. we can do this." Scarlet said, her voice full of encouragement. Jack nodded in agreement and smiled. He grabbed the girl by the waist and lifted her so her face was right in front of his. She starred right into his bright blue eyes before she grabbed his hair with her hands and pushed her lips down on his. It certainly wasn't the same as with Clara, the girl's lips more soft and sweet while Jack's lips felt like they were fighting against hers, trying to be the winner.
As the buzzer went off, Scarlet quickly separated herself from Jack's face and wiggled herself away from his grip. She reached into her bag and grabbed a water bottle, gurgling and spitting into a nearby bush. It wasn't that bad, but she couldn't tell Jack that.
"Your mouth tasted like jerky!" She said gagging. All Jack did was smile.
In his opinion, he quite enjoyed the kiss. Her lips were so innocent and fresh, like she had never kissed someone before. It felt nice. They looked up into the sky and saw no death rays nor winners gifts, so they assumed they didn't do too bad.
"I wonder who won." Jack said as he took another piece of jerky out of his bag.
"I bet it was someone who was actually a couple." Scarlet said smiling. They both sat down on a log, glad that they could take a break from running, shooting, and kissing.
