"But that wasn't me." Scarlet said as they finished telling her the story. They all had taken refuge in the kitchen, sitting at the table all facing the blonde.
"How is that possible?" Clara said, leaning herself on Scarlet, her head nestled on her shoulder.
"It's extremely possible." Jack said. Everyone turned to look at him. "What? It could have been an Auton, a Zygon, a Ganger..."
"I guess that game station likes messing with people." Scarlet said.
"You have no idea." The Doctor said.
"I'll go get us some drinks," Scarlet said, getting up and walking to the other side of the kitchen. She felt bad, watching a friend die and then sitting in the TARDIS seconds later would be traumatizing for anyone. She wanted to give them some alone time to gain themselves again, but they wouldn't let her out of their sights, especially Clara.
She started boiling water until she realized that there were no tea bags left. They went through that stuff so quickly and the TARDIS wasn't showing anymore signs of generating food anymore. She grumbled at the fact that they would have to go grocery shopping again. Maybe they could put Clara in charge of domestics and she could just do it, if she decided to come back on the TARDIS. She didn't even get a night to herself before she was swept back into Doctorland. Maybe they could ask Jack, but he probably wasn't staying.
The whistling sound of boiling water woke her up from her thoughts. She mixed the water with some powdered coffee she found in the cupboard and walked back to the others. They still seemed to be arguing about what it was that was looking like her in the game station.
"A Zygon wouldn't have sacrificed it's life." The Doctor said, noting that he had met them before and they weren't the most friendly creatures.
"Yeah, but it was not an auton, I would have known when I kissed it." Jack said, his mind going back to the kiss. It was a little less amazing now that he knew that it wasn't actually her, but he wasn't complaining.
"Oh, so fake me kissed you? Doesn't sound like me at all." Scarlet said, putting the mugs onto the table.
"Well if you were going to be shot with a death ray if you didn't, it think you would." Jack said, taking a sip of the coffee. He made a face to the bitter coffee, but he tried not to show his discomfort.
"I think I'd rather take the death ray." Scarlet said sarcastically. Jack just frowned.
"This isn't tea," The Doctor said pointing to his mug.
"Yeah, its coffee." Scarlet said, pouring cream into hers. She was never a coffee person, but she never tried it in her new body. She spooned some sugar in and took a sip. "Not bad."
"Why didn't you make tea?" Clara asked.
"Because some tea loving Brits drank it all, what do you live on the stuff?"
"Yes." Clara, The Doctor and Jack all said.
"And don't deny it," Clara started, "You've been hanging with us so much, you've almost got an accent."
"I do not have a British accent."
"You say things like a British person, sometimes I even hear you say Oi," Clara said smiling.
"Just shut up and drink your coffee." Clara followed Scarlet's example with the sugar and cream, except she put so much in the drink looked white by the time she was finished with it. She took a sip and claimed it not bad. Scarlet was going to say something smart like 'would you like some coffee with that cream?' but she decided against it.
When Scarlet finally succeeded to get Clara and Jack to enjoy the beverage, she then turned to the Doctor, who was slowly pushing his mug away from his body.
"Come on Doctor, don't be a wimp." Clara said childishly
"Have you ever even tried coffee before?" Jack asked.
"I'm twelve hundred years old, I must have had it before."
"Then try it." Scarlet said, pushing more peer pressure onto the man. "It's not bad, see." She tipped her mug, some of the hazel liquid going down her throat. When she finished, she turned and glared at the Doctor, her blue eyes looking like a cold star. Then came Jack and Clara, all staring at him, making a big deal out of something like a cup of coffee.
"Oh alright." Ignoring the cream and sugar, he tipped his mug, sending the black liquid into his mouth. Just about a second later he ran to the sink, dumping the contents of his mouth and mug into it. He then ran to the container of cream and drank it abruptly, trying to get the taste out of his mouth.
"That was horrid." He said finally, after the strong taste left his taste buds.
"Well, duh, you're supposed to lighten it with cream or sugar, just like your tea." Scarlet said. She tried holding in the laughter, but it didn't work. She started bursting out laughing, the high pitched giggles echoing across the walls of the room. Soon enough Clara and Jack were joining in on the laugher, the Doctor just sitting there confused.
That laugh was contagious, even making the Doctor's grumpy face turn into a smile and eventually he started laughing along with the rest of them. After a while of their giggles stretching across the kitchen, he wondered if all that laughing was from what he did, or if it was to laugh off the struggles they have been through those past two days.
