Woah, has it really been months! Sorry folks, I'm writing today, and maybe i'll start writing again in the summer. Let me know. I can start a new fic of this ones dragging on a bit, or I can continue this one. But I love your opinions so keep them coming! Enjoy:)
Scarlet laid in her bed, starring at the ceiling. The TARDIS illuminated a light show of the galaxy, showing everywhere she had been. It was so empty. She had so many more places to see, people to meet, even food to try; she had barely touched the surface. But right now, all she wanted to do was cuddle in bed with a bag of chips, watching some random alien CSI. She heard footsteps by her doorway.
"What are you doing?" She heard Clara call suspiciously, peeking in her room.
"Just snuggling." She said quietly.
"With whom?" Clara asked with a hint of sarcasm.
"Jack knows better than to turn up unexpectedly...and you're not under this wad of covers so... no one." She squeaked with a sleepy smile.
"Then I guess I'll have to join you." Clara slipped under the covers, nestling her cold body into the heat trap also known as Scarlet's bed. Her cold foot rubbed against Scarlet's leg, making her jump back a little bit.
"Oh I'm sorry." Clara gasped. Scarlet just smiled, adjusting herself so Clara's small body could fit beside her. She turned her focus back to the T.V. "So what is this show?"
"Some alien CSI type thing. The blue guy slept with the red guy's wife, but his wife is secretly bi and is sleeping with the blue guy's co-worker; it's all very confusing."
"So what does that have to do with crime scene investigation?" Clara asked.
"I have no idea." She let out a smile a she shoved another handful of potato chips into her mouth.
"So what are we doing today?" Clara asked. "Saving a civilization, discovering a species, eliminating threats across the universe?"
"I don't know about you, but I'm staying right here, anyways, the Doctor is out buying some materials to upgrade the TARDIS."
"Don't all Time Lords have the drive to do something 24/7?"
"I don't know, I haven't met many. Besides, maybe its just the human side. I don't think Time Lord genes are strong enough to eliminate laziness." Scarlet tugged on the covers, pulling them up to her face so she looked like a lurking bed hippo.
"Very well, I'll be off then. If I save a civilization I'll make sure they don't put your name on the plaque" Clara said. She wasn't sure whether or not she was being sarcastic or not, she would see.
Clara walked down the cold metal corridors of the TARDIS and began to think. She could go out and do something herself, she SO could. The Doctor nor Scarlet would even need to know. Clara's heart was suddenly racing. Of course she's taken charge on things, but all by herself? She couldn't remember a time. Always aside someone, or behind them. She barely even got to pick where they landed, although the TARDIS herself is usually the one who decides that. She opened her hands to see Scarlet's vortex manipulator, which she nabbed from her nightstand . She could SO do this.
She typed into the device, Take me somewhere exciting. Coordinates appeared on the screen almost immediately, Jack must have nothing better to do than wait around for Scarlet's calls. The button illuminated. Was she nervous? A little, but that didn't stop her from slamming her hand on the machine, sending her who-knows-where.
The first thing she hear, even before she opened her eyes was, "You're not Scarlet." The voice was a little distraught and easily recognizable as Jacks. She though for a second, Maybe I shouldn't open my eyes.
"Jack please tell that you didn't read, 'Take me somewhere exciting' and think, 'Hey, I'll teleport her right into my bedroom'." She said, her eyes stilled closed.
"No, you're in my living room, it's okay to open your eyes." Clara blinked, seeing that Jack was telling the truth, she was in the familiar apartment she had visited as a prank war refugee. She looked at Jack, who was smiling. Why was he smiling like that?
"Are you okay?" She asked. Really, it was creeping her out.
"So, had to get away from the box for sometime? I know what its like, staying in the same place."
"I want to show Scarlet that I can do something alone."
"Did she say that you couldn't?"
"No, It's just that she's been really lazy lately and she's been staying in bed all the time. I want to get out and do things." Jack's smile returned.
"I'll tell you what. I was invited to the Ms. Intergalactica Pageant as this year's honorary judge. Since Earth doesn't enroll, you know, due to the fact that they've barley made contact with their own species, I think I can psychic paper you in as Ms. Earth."
"A beauty pageant, really?"
"Hey, that's all I've got to offer."
"No, No I'll do it!"
"Good, time to do some bikini shopping."
