Tohru's Knight

When young Tohru Honda loses her mother and goes to live with some of her classmates she never knew an old friend of hers would appear to help protect her from harm physical emotional and romantical; lets just hope this knight is able to withstand the craziness that comes with being her knight

5. Chapter 5

This year has gone fast it seems like December was gone in the blink of an eye. So now it's the last day of the year, the day we do our new year's cleaning. "Damnit can't you do anything right?" Kyo asked as Yuki broke the screen on the door. "you're the last person I need to hear from right now" Yuki said "What's that suppose to mean, you wanna start something?!" Kyo asked as Uo was dusting near him and Ed was lugging boxes around "Quit messing around you two" Uo said "You asked you, you dirty bitch!" Kyo asked. "Oh dear" Ed said as a duster was wrapped around his head "Are you seriously going to talk to me after I came here out of the goodness of my own heart" Uo said "I'm sorry about that" Yuki said helping Tohru fix the door "It's okay, it was just a small tear" Tohru chuckled as Shigure entered the room wanting the bathroom, only to spy Hana cleaning it up, "Can't you read the sign says closed for cleaning" Hana said "I would only be a minute" Shigure said a bit scared. "Did you know that the flow of electrical waves can be compared to water flowing, over 60% of the average person's body is water, so by rounding up a person is water, many failure to realise this considering the body appears solid" Hana said "Water is always flowing through our bodies, streams through our veins sustains our body and organs" Hana continued on before Shigure shut the door "I can wait" he said

Walking into his office "SHIGURE I need the last half of you book, I already had to make excuses to the print shop so they could stay open today to get the, I mean we can't release a book that is at least half blank! It would be the" his publisher said before Shigure closed the door "Dud that was harsh in any language" Edward said sighing as he looked over to Tohru before seeing the two guy Sohmas struggling with a bookshelf. "Ah, Shigure!" Yuki hollowed "Give us a hand here!" Kyo barked 'He's doing a lot of barking for a cat' Ed thought as Shigure 'helped them lift the bookcase "Hey! Shigure!" his publisher said "Mii! come grab that end!" Shigure said "You should be working on you book not this!" Mii said "Come on hurry!" Shigure strained "RIght" Mii said

"What should we do with the new year Soba Noodles?" Tohru asked. "Fish, onion" Uo started "And some bean sprouts" Tohru added "Oh an Tempura as well" Uo finished as Mii and the two boys were chanting heave oh, that was of course before Mii realised that Shigure was gone "He's gone! Where is he?!" she shouted "Hold on" Yuki begged "You're going to drop it!" Kyo panicked as it started to fall "TIM-BER!" Shigure yelled out before Ed managed to stop it just in time, only to Ed drop it "Oh lovely they smashed it again" Shigure sighed before retreating into the bush "IT was you who dropped it first you damn Rat!" Kyo growled. "You eyes and arms must the same weakness you stupid cat!" Yuki said "Is everyone okay?" Tohru asked, as Kyo was once again picking a fight with Yuki, only to have Uo step in and stop Kyo "Why can't be it the damn rat for once?" Kyo asked. "Come on team we have a lot of work to do cleaning this place up" Ed said. "Alright"

"Good as new" Tohru chirped after she finished with the door "Shigure...Shigure!" Mii called after the absent dog knocking Kyo off his ladder and into the repaired making Uo a bit pissed. "YOU CLUMSY IDIOT!" she shouted "It's not my fault" Kyo cried out as Ed went to find Shigure "Five hundred, not five you don't have time to be hungry!" he heard Mii chewing out Shigure once again as "Of course, of course I'll get on that, but before that can you hold out your hands, after that I can start writing" Shigure said "Is that fact?" Mii asked not trusting him "yes yes" he said nodding as Mii held her hands out "Now put you head down a bit" Shigure requested as Mii did it "Donations for this poor beggar girl?" he said running away chuckling.

"If you have nothing to do, then move you lazy cat" Yuki said "You're the last person I want to hear from" Kyo snapped. "Tohru you better get to the shopping" Uo said "Oh yeah" she said smiling "Shopping I'll come with you" Shigure said before Edward shoved him with his leg "No you don't!" Edward said as Mii dragged his ass back to his office. "Tohru you'll have find someone else to help you" Shigure whined as Yuki and Kyo just stared. "Strange mutt" Edward muttered. Shigure was in his office procrastinating "Your hands, your fingers start writing!" Mii begged "That's strange with you looking over my shoulder my creativeness has been stifled and the ideas aren't flowing into the pen like they should" Shigure said "It's way too late to think about that; I want ink not ideas" Mii said "Maybe some peace and quiet will inspire me" he said "Alright fine, I'll leave you alone! But you better be writing when I get back!" Mii shouted walking out of the room not seeing Shigure's grin. A while later Mii came back to see Shigure not there and went to look for him, finding him in the garden. "There perfect" Shigure said before feeling dread as his editor was behind him with a rope.

"Come on inside and don't your last chance for some great New Year's specials" an announcer said as Yuki and Tohru were shopping "So Miss Honda what are you going to make?" Yuki asked looking at the meat in the butcher's aisle "New year's cakes!" Tohru said "I just hope I got ingredients everyone likes" she smiled "Shigure, Kyo and I will be heading back to the main compound tonight" Yuki said gaining the attention of a passerby. "I'm sorry, I really should have explained it, it's a sort of family tradition, I guess it was just an obvious thing to us that we were going that we forgot to mention it completely" Yuki explained. "That's alright, but I think, I am getting a bit too much" Tohru said putting some things back. Suddenly two children charged into Yuki "Yuki Look Out!" Tohru warned but it was too late. As Tohru was walking hom Yuki poked his head out of her pocket, "I'm sorry about this I was suppose to carry the shopping" he said "Oh no, it's not trouble at all" she smiled.

After looking around the house for him Mii found Shigure in his office working on something "Ah Mii, would you be a dear and hand me the newspaper would you please?" Shigure requested "Research materials right?" Mii asked searching for the newspaper. "You working so hard" she said "Of course I am" Shigure said cutting up the paper "I too have to get ready for new years as well" he said. Which lead to a chase "Mii give me back my kite" Shigure said "You're not getting it until I get you manuscript! I MEAN IT!" she said.

"Thank you for the food" the group said eating lunch as Mii walked in upset "Shi- gu- re-" she wept making Edward throw a sour look towards the dog Sohma. "Ah I'm so full, now I can spend the next carefree" Shigure sighed. "You can't say that until your finished your book!" Mii said chasing him. "Still the soba was delicious" he smiled "You listen to me, this situation is critical, Don't you understand! There is a deadline to meet! You can't afford stupid things like noodles or New Year's" Mii ranted "You know I think I would eat it every day if it weren't for the side effects it did to my nails" Shigure admitted "Nails?" Mii asked "Well if you eat too much soba your fingernails start smelling funny" Shigure said fooling Mii into smelling her fingernails while he held up a stupid sign "Mii you are such a good sport" the dog laughed. "I'm in hell; I just know it" Mii said as Edward walked up "Here" he said handing Mii an envelope. "Shigure finished it awhile ago and gave it to me for reading, I must say it's a good run. But he is a bit of a bastard" Edward admitted as Mii held onto the manuscript like it was a lifeline.

Hana and Tohru started doing the dishes when Hana noticed something on the counter "New Year's cakes they look absolutely delicious" she said "You think so?" Tohru asked. "Yes I do. But will it enough for the four of you?" Hana asked concerned for her friend. "No I just made enough for myself as Yuki and the others are spending it at their family's estate." Tohru explained making Hana worried for her, not knowing Edward heard them.

"Time to go, don't you think you two should get ready?" Shigure asked "I'm not going" the pair of teens said "Tohru, help me it's terrible these two don't want to go back home with me" Shigure whimpered. "Quit whimpering you're supposed to be a damn adult!" Kyo growled. "You're not going back?" Tohru asked "I haven't been back in months. I'm not going now just because it's stupid New Years" Kyo explained. "I had my reasons for leaving home as well, it would be almost meaningless if I went back tonight" Yuki said sipping his tea. "Why are you like this?" Shigure asked "you have always gone to before, you see its the one holiday where the extended Sohma family gets together to celebrate the new year." Shigure said "That sounds like a big night" Tohru said "It is the greetings are an event themselves; but the highlight of the night is the Zodiac banquet" Shigure said "A banquet?" Tohru asked sunnily "Yes and it's the most important part of the celebration for New Year's. As the name implies, its only for the Zodiac members and the Zodiac of the new year performs a dance to welcome in the new year, this year Momiji gets to do it, but it will be nothing like the one Yuki did three years ago" Shigure said making Tohru want to see it. "I told you never to talk about that!" Yuki snapped. "Right," the dog whimpered. "It sounds wonderful just like the old folklore" Tohru smiled. "Well it's not like it matters to me considering I can't go to it" Kyo griped "It's been a long standing rule that the Cat Zodiac isn't allowed to attend the banquet, and I supposed that in keeping with the folklore as well" Shigure said bringing the mood down a little bit "Yeah well, I don't care, it's not why I'm not going back" Kyo said "I think he's afraid to get hurt what with Kagura excited to see him" Shigure chuckled. "SHUT UP!" Kyo snapped. "In any event; if we go back tonight it will have to stay until the third, so we will be leaving Miss Honda alone for three days, stupid cats did you just figure that out now?" Yuki said "Don't call me stupid!" Kyo snapped "Than don't act stupid, Stupid." Yuki said "Hold on you two thank you for worrying, but I'll be fine, it's funny but with the both of you thinking about me makes me happy, and I want you to be happy as well, this is your family's special night, you get to see your families for the first time in a while. I promise I'll be fine and I'll take good care of the hous...I left the bath running!" she said spazzing out "If that doesn't inspire confidence, nothing will" Shigure said sipping his tea. "Alright we'll go back" Yuki said "If it's what she wants." Kyo said.

"Come on Al hurry up!" Edward shouted as he wrapped his long sleeved coat around his body as his young body raced around looking for his "Got it Al?" their mother asked "Yep" Al said pulling on his parker. "Come on, come on" Edward pushing the younger brother out the door "Well, Edward I'm quite surprised that you wanted to do this for Tohru" Trisha said pulling on her jacket "I know the others would have to go back home so that would leave her alone for a couple of days and so why not surprise her and stay with her for New Years?" Edward asked as he saw the stars in the skies above. "I think he would approve of your thinking Edward" Trisha said "Like I care about him" Edward said shrugging it off "That boy when will get over that?" she asked herself grabbing the cakes she made. "Hold on you two" their mother laughed as the two were already racing ahead of her. "Well the hurry up" Ed shouted back as the gravel crunched beneath his feet as he ran towards the house of the Sohmas "That boy he's like his father it's not funny" Trisha chuckled as Al tried to get a good footing while he was dragged "What's the rush?" Al asked. "Tohru's on her own!"

When they arrived Ed knocked on the door. Trisha and Al caught their breathe as Edward opened the door to see an upset Tohru walking in as he took off his boots while placing down a plate of new year cake "Hey Tor. Come on sweetie" Trisha said rousing the girl "Edward, Alphone, Aunt Trisha?" Tohru asked as Trisha hugged the young brunette "What are you doing here?" Tohru asked as Al set down a plate containing half a dozen cups "Why six?" Edward asked "Call it a hunch" Alphonse smiled as Trisha talked with her goddaughter. Seeing that Tohru was okay Ed stepped outside with a mirthful chuckled as he saw a pair of guys rushing towards them "HEY GUYS!" he called out as stepped out of the way while the two Sohmas opened the door panting to see Trisha, Alphonse and Tohru drinking tea; a picture of Kyoko on the table.

"it's you guys you startled me" Tohru admitted while the boys panted as Tohru explained about how she wasn't crying but was listening to country music and something in her eyes while all Yuki could think was 'We nearly left her here to cry, how lonely would she have been' while Kyo thought 'She's never alone as long as she has us and Edward by her side. She'll never be alone, Edward you have no idea how grateful I am for you helping Tohru' before collapsing "Oh dear, are you two okay?" Trisha asked "We...have...to...watch he first sunrise together" Yuki panted while Kyo panted out "I wanted to have some more of those New Year Soba noodles with you" Edward shook he head standing up and walked into the kitchen before walking out with six bowls of Soba noodles with teriyaki chicken, mushrooms, leeks and some fish for Kyo "I'm Home" Yuki said "I'm home" Kyo seconded "Well then welcome home you two" Trisha said "Now eat up otherwise they'll become cold." Edward laughed as he passed out the bowels while the guys sat up happily.

Meanwhile Shigure was at the Sohma house being greeted by his family members when Momiji ran up to him "SHIGURE!" the young rabbit cheered "Why Hello Momiji" Shigure said pleasantly while the rabbit looked for the rat and the act "Where are Yuki and Kyo?" he asked "They decided to stay home tonight, which is a shame because I am looking forward to your new year's dance at the banquet tonight" Shigure said before he reported to Akito. "I'm sad to say that Yuki and Kyo will not be joining us tonight Akito" Shigure said "What do you mean?" Akito asked "Well there's no sense beating around the bush, they skipped out" Shigure stated making the head of the Sohma family growl in irritating while Shigure looked on darkly.

"So you guys talked to Hana?" Tohru asked while all five of the teenagers sat on the roof "They did, I didn't" Ed said "No Ed pretty much planned o come over here from the beginning" Alphose admitted "AL!" Ed shouted "Thank you Edward." Tohru smiled "Awe shucks" Ed blushing up a storm. "Yeah, we sort of ran into her on the way" Yuki said happily "Is that right?" Tohru asked 'Oh Hana you'll be the first person I call this year I promise!' she promised before looking at Kyo and asking "But, um are you sure its okay, I mean what's your family going to think?" Tohru asked "They won't mind if you stayed here will they?" "Probably not" Edward answer "It's not trouble at all Miss Honda. We'll go back and visit before the third" Yuki said "Plus with Knight boy here, I'm sure you'll be alright" Kyo added "Oh...okay" Tohru said looking out from them "Man you guys are weird" Edward said "Look who's talking" The Sohma boys thought before Yuki monologued "I imagine the banquet is in full swing right now, even so' 'I'm glad I missed it, I don't feel guilty for not going' Kyo though the same thing 'It's kind of funny I thought I had so many reason for wanting not to go back ther' "HEY!" Edward shouted "quit thinking about that stupid event" Edward said as Tohru perked up "Hey look you guys the sunrise" she said as the sun started to peak over the rise "have you decided what to wish of yet?" she asked as the four males looked at each other as Tohru continued on "I've got mine already to go!" it was an odd thing to make a wish on a new year's sunrise but it was a tradition passed down the generations "We sure do Tohru" Ed said standing up 'Maybe all I ever wanted was to spend New Years with her and my friends' the Sohmas said "THIS YEAR THAT DAMN RAT IS GOING DOWN BY MY HANDS!" Kyo declared "Oh dear" Edward sighed "well I hope everyone is happy and healthy for another year, and nothing really bad happens" the knight chuckled "Ah you're wishing aren't you" Yuki snidely commented "And here we are at the start of a whole new year it's such a beautiful sunrise' Tohru though 'And seeing it with Kyo, Yuki, Edward and Alphose means so much to me' she smiled. 'And with a new year came new chances for friends, happiness and love. This is going to be a spectacular new year"

"Stupid cold weather" Ed grumbled as he was walking from school now the winter break was over and frowned as he saw Yuki and Kyo in yet another fight "I'll make you say sorry" Kyo growled as Yuki came back with "I'm sorry" 'Oh dear not this again I thought they were over this' Ed face palmed "SHUT IT You're a real wise ass you know that!" Kyo screamed as people were giving them funny looks. "Okay guys clamour down" Edward walking over to them with his red coat swishing behind him "At least I'm not the loudmouth idiot that is causing a scene in front of the store" Yuki said "Oh you've done it now girly boy, We're taking this outside" Kyo snarled. "Um dude in case you haven't noticed we're outside already" Ed said making his face collide with his right arm and pulling back from pain "Sorry I took so long, oh hey Edward" Tohru smiled walking out with some groceries. "Ah did you find everything?" Yuki asked. "uh huh" Tohru smiled

"It's seems those two are getting along like a rat and a cat worse than usual" Edward said "that too bad, considering my wish for new years was that they would start getting along better" Tohru said looking a little upset "I guess that it's not having much of an effect" she added "Well what are you going to do with that curse and everything" Edward "You know, you're starting to get on my last nerve" Yuki said "Oh yeah, come thing girly boy why don't you do something about it then huh?" Kyo said before Yuki shut him up by shoving a Leek into his mouth making the cat faint and Tohru concerned "Dick move man, Dick move" Edward growled quietly "Oh well, that should keep him quiet for a little while anyway" Yuki said before coughing "Hey you okay man?" Edward asked as both he and Torhu looked over to him. "I'm fine" Yuki said "If you say so, anyway I better head back to the store and buy that milk mum wanted me too, I'll catch you guys later" Edward said running off the way they came.

That night after Shigure declared the bath was free and asked Yuki if he wanted it "I"M fine, I was actually think about skipping it today" Yuki admitted "Ewww...how can you be so dirty?" Shigure asked. 'Just once I would like to send him through the roof' Yuki mentally deadpanned. "Are you okay, you're not feeling sick are you?" Tohru asked concerned for her friend. "No, I think I'm coming down with something" Yuki said as Tohru checked his temperature. "You do have a bit of a fever" she said "Well it is best to treat it early, Take some medicine and get to bed early; stuff like that" Shigure said "I have just the thing here" he added looking for something "Maybe you should stay home tomorrow," Tohru said concerned. "No I'll be fine" Yuki said "Are you sure we do have to do our endurance runs tomorrow" Tohru said "They still have those?" Shigure asked. "It seems almost cruel making kids run around in the cold weather " Shigure said "And endurance run hey?" Kyo asked showing up looking like something out of an anime (you know like dragonball or something like that) "You mean you didn't know?" Tohru asked afraid. "The endurance run. a set distance with a set time to beat, In other words: ITS A RACE!" Kyo cheered "Alright you damn Rat! Tomorrow we'll see who's the fastest!" "Um Kyo Yuki has a cold" Tohru said "Oh is he now, well you better give him some food and get him to bed! He's not getting out of this one" Kyo smirked. "Here take one of these and joking aside remember if you put your body under too much strain it will transform and we can have you doing that" Shigure said "I know" Yuki said "I don't like this idea, I would much prefer he stay at home and got some rest" Tohru thought.

"Bloody cold weather" Ed grumbled while he waited for the run to start while he saw Tohru talking to Yuki. "I should've skipped out like Uo" he said walking over to Kyo who was hissing "Dude close your mouth, you're hissing" Edward said "So what?" Kyo asked. "Its rude. Besides keep an eye on Yuki alright, something tells me his not alright" Ed said wincing "You do the same, I keep noticing you're wincing when you move your shoulder" Kyo said. Yuki was now prepared when he stood up, "You know I don't think I've seen miss Uotani today" Yuki said as Ed walked over to him, wearing the gym uniform, only with long pants instead of shorts. "Oh she decided today might be a good day to skip" Tohru said "I think I saw Hana though" Edward said as the teacher blew his whistle. "Alright girls you're up first, everybody make your way to the starting line at the gate please" he instructed "Well gotta run" Tohru laughed "Good luck" Yuki and Ed said. "Hey Hana" Tohru said spotting her friend in the crowd. "Let's do our best today for Uo" she smiled. "Okay I'll try as I am not much of a runner" Hana said "Just try your hardest okay?" Tohru asked.

"On you marks, get set" the teacher said as he raised the starting pistol and fired it making all of the girls scramble. Hana wasn't even out of the school gate when she fell over, making Ed face palm "Hana what's wrong are you okay?" Tohru panicked "I can't run any further I'm sorry Tohru" Hana said "That was only five meters!" Edward cried out. "I've tried my hardest, but now I've reached my limits" Hana said "You've got to be kidding me" Kyo deadpanned "Run on without me" Hana requested "OH brother" Edward said "And don't worry I'll be right behind you, only walking" Hana said "Hana" Tohru said "Walk, crawl, hop I don't care what you do Miss Hanajim just start" The teacher said, after a while Tohru started to think about her friend. "I hgope Hana's okay back there, and the boys should be starting as well, I hope Yuki really is okay, like he said he did. What's that?" Tohru asked panicking spotting something white 'White hair; an old man!' before she started to run down the hill "Sir are you okay?" she asked before he revealed himself to be around her age 'Wait he looks like he's the same age as me' she said before going into a spaz out "I'm sorry I thought since you had white hair I thought you were an old man that had fallen or something" she said "Have you heard of the Sohma House? I think it might be around here" the young man said making Tohru's mind go blank.

Kyop and Yuki were racing with Ed trailing right behind them. Looking back Ed thought he saw all the other boys completely wiped out and needed to take a breather. "Man these guys are tough" Edward though as the pain in his arm throbbed harder and harder with each step. 'Dammit I don't know if I can keep going with my arm in this state' Edward moaned. "EAT MY DSUT RAT BOY!" Kyo shouted out "Shut up" Yuki replied. "Just keep going and both of you SHUT UP!" Edward barked as they raced through the town. Coming to the bridge Ed saw Torhu and the young man from earlier, who was holding a rope "So then you must be member of the Sohmas" Tohru said "Yeah that's right so you know of it then?" the young man asked before pulling on the rope tightly 'He isn't' Edward thought slowing down. 'He did' Ed deadpanned as Kyo tripped and face planted. Skidding to a halt Ed panted out "You alright there Kyo?" Tohru rushed over and started to panic as welled. "KYO Are you hurt? Kyo" Tohru asked "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I was winning and everything" Kyo shouted "It wasn't her, it was him" Ed stated "Haru?" Yuki asked. "If I haven't of tripped you, would you have stopped" the boy said "By the way what I just did is very dangerous, had that been anyone other than Kyo they would have gotten hurt. SO don't try this at home" Haru said "Wow, nearly five chapter in and we have a break in the forth wall" Edward said. "DON'T TRY IT HERE, WHO ARE YOU EVEN TELLING THAT TO?" Kyo asked.

"so now its Haru, great they jsut keep coming out of the woodwork don't ya" Yuki stated making Tohru curious "Hey Yuki, I missed you" Haru said hugging the rat "Shouldn't you be at school?" Yuki asked "I actually left on Sunday with intentions to come here and see you guys" Haru said "But you got lost didn't you?" Edward asked "Yes, it took me three days to find my way out of the dark urban wilderness" Haru said "Three days, boy are you bad with directions" Edward snickered. "He's sense of direction is still as crappy as ever" Kyo said "Well if you're going to get lost that is one impressive way of doing it!" Tohru cheered "Think about this Tohru, he hasn't bathed in three days Gross" Edward and Kyo blanched. "Shu up" Haru said "Guys we need to get off the road" Tohru said "Good idea. Under the bridge" Edward said "Oh by the way this I Hatsuharu Sohma, Haru this is Miss Tohru Honda and Edward Elric" Yuki said "He's a year behind us" Kyo said "well then Miss Honda, its a pleasure to meet you" Haru said "No the pleasure's all min really" Tohru blushed 'He so polite, he seems like he should be older then middle school'

"So what are you here for anyway?" Kyo asked as the group ran under the bridge to get away from the road. "A fight, I was planning to challenge you at the banquet, but you skipped out" Haru said "So here I am" Haru said "Hold on, I'm in the middle of something right here if you haven't noticed!" Kyo said "I wasted three days searching for you," Haru said "That's your own fault, you're the one who keeps getting lost!" Kyo replied "I think this isn't looking good" Tohru worried as Haru and Kyo was about to fight. 'Kyo, Haru you guys are too reckless" Edward said. "This si going to get ugly, Kyo maybe you should do it" Yuki advised "No I said no and I mean, now get lost I'm busy" Kyo said walking off. "Too late" Yuki said as Haru headbutted Kyo 'WHAT!' Tohru thought

"You're nothing but a scared kitten whining like a little girl, you're not a real man so piss off, if you're too scared to fight" Haru laughed "Black Haru" "Black?" Tohru asked "Haru?" Ed added on. "He has a split personality, white Haru who you met before and this one Black Haru" Yuki said "You little bastard!" Kyo snarled "What did I ever do to you huh?" he snarled out "You run like a scared little coward" Haru said starting a fight "Once Haru snaps he is unstoppable, we call this side black Haru" Yuki explained "So what you're saying is that he has a similar temper to Kagura" Tohru asked "Not at all" Yuki said "He worse by a thousand" Yuki explained as Haru went up to him "Are you enjoying the show, you're next after I've dealt with the cat; speaking of, GET UP KYO" Haru shouted "I've been up where have you been" Kyo asked ready to throw a punch "This could go on for hours" Yuki said "Leave me alone, go back home when did you become a real pansy?" Haru taunted "You're a real bastard when you become Black Haru!"
