Not So Bad After All

Bella grinned. It had been eight weeks since the day she and Angela met the Volturi and to say the least it was...interesting.

Flashback

Bella and Angela were standing side by side in the center of the throne room. She figured if anything were to happen this was the best position to be in to protect Angela.

Aro smiled. "Well then where to start...where to... aw yes. I am Aro as I already told you and these are my bothers Marcus and Caius. There is also Jane, who you have already met, Alec, Jane's brother, Demetri, and Felix. Now on to business. Before we, the Volturi, were in power, the Romans ruled. Not long before we came to power the rulers where approached by a man. Now this man was not human. He was a member of a race everyone, even us, had long forgotten. He asked the rulers to protect his race so that even they them self's would not know what they where. And in return he would serve them to the best of his ability. And so he did. Until we took over.

When we had full power he came to us. He asked of us the same as he did the Romans. But he told us more. The reason he needed assistance was his race was being hunted down to extinction. So in order to protect them he needed our help. Now you see this races abilities are not activated unless someone they care for is in danger. It does not activate even if they them self's are in danger. When their powers activate their senses heighten and they become faster and stronger then before. And before the event that puts the one they care for in danger the member of this race becomes... sluggish. There newly founded abilities become what they where before for a short time. This is so when the time comes they may release their powers. When their power is released they develop a shield but that is all we know of them. We know that they have abilities but we do not what they are for the man who asked for our assistance refused to tell us anymore."

"Who was this man?" Asked Bella. "We do not know. He refused to tell us. Unfortunately he was killed not to long after he came to us. By what we do not know. All we know is that it smelt like leather and death." Bella's eyes widened. That's the scent I smelt in the hotel room. Fuck. What does that mean? she thought.

"Regardless of his death we have protected his race and we will continue to for as long as we can. But it seems we failed a member of this race. You, Isabella, are a Forgotten. And an Alpha at that." Aro finished.

"Alpha?" She asked.

"Yes my dear you are meant to lead. Your eyes say it all. It is in your blood. You are meant to lead a pack or coven or what ever you want to call it. There are people of your race that are meant to stand beside you no matter what. The only question is whether or not their abilities are active. If they are they will find you but I do not thing they will. You are the only active member that we know of." Aro sighed. "It seems we need to check in on your people again."

Bella looked at the floor and closed her eyes. This is fucking insane. I really don't want to believe any of this but I know its true. I don't know how but I do. If I want to fully understand all of this I am going to need these peoples help. And that was the start of it all.

Bella decided she need to stay with these vampires for as long as possible to learn everything about what she was and what she could do. But she did not want to force Angela to stay with her. When Bella suggested maybe it would be best if Angela left, her response was 'If I hear those words again, supernatural creature or not, I will beat your ass got it?' And so Angela stayed.

As time went on both Bella and Angela began to spend time with the Volturi and not just interrogate them for information. They became especially close with the seven from the throne room. Angela and Alec hit it off right away. The two bonded over books and other common interests they shared. On the other hand there was Bella and Jane. The first week they absolutely despised each other. They would glare at each other and constantly throw insults at one another. The second week it was dislike. Third it was neutrality. Fourth it was respect. Now when the fifth came... that's when everyone truly feared their relationship. Everyone quickly realized that the two of them working together was terrifying. If the two of them wanted to they could take over the world. It would be like a walk in the park for them. The two would work together to torment the others. Yes it was funny because God where they clever with their pranks but dear Lord no one wanted to be the one getting pranked.

Aro, Caius, and Marcus became the girls uncles. There was no other way to explain it. They treated the girls like their flesh and blood. Aro was the happy, funny one. The one that made them laugh and smile when they where feeling homesick. Caius was the serious, overprotective, often abrasive one that you couldn't help but love. Especially when he got angry. It was the weirdest thing but they found it cute. He would pout slightly and frown and... its just one of those things you have to see. Marcus was the quiet one. He was the one you could sit with for hours and just... exist. Forget the world for awhile. He was also the one you could talk to and get unbiased opinions from or advice when needed.

Felix and Demetri were the big brothers. Felix was the one constantly grinning and joking and being just plain happy. He reminded Bella of Emmett which saddened her but the two of them where different in their own ways. Felix could be incredibly serious and vicious when need be. Demetri was calm, collected and quiet. He was the voice of reason when the other guards become irrational.

"Hey Sabelle."

Bella grinned. "Hey Jane," she replied happily. Sabelle was a nickname she got from Felix. Felix was being a dick one day and there, next to her, was conveniently a stapler so she... utilized it. He tried to call her staple but that didn't end well for him. So he decided on Sabelle. "You want to have one more sparing match before you go home?" Asked Jane.

Bella nodded. "Ya. I'm going to kick your ass." Jane scoffed. "As if." As the two walked Bella thought of her abilities. When they first started training Bella was faster and stronger but inexperienced which caused them to underestimated her abilities. By the third session they learned she could shape shift. She could become any animal... or become anyone she wanted to. The first time it was amusing because one second Demetri is sparing with Bella and then the next he is sparing with a fucking penguin. After she shifted back and got a whole bunch of weird looks she said 'What? I was think about how cute Demetri would look as a ninja penguin.' The second time was just... disturbing. Bella shuddered just thinking about.

Bella and Jane arrived at the training room and went to their respect sides of the room. After several minutes neither had moved. Neither wanted to make the first move but Bella knew Jane would. Jane was impatience. And she was right. Seconds later Jane attacked. When Jane was almost on top of her, Bella rolled to the left and shape shifted her hands to have claws come out from in between her knuckles ( Like Wolverine ) and slashed Jane across her side. Jane hissed and turned to attack but before she could she was blown backwards.

Bella had complete control over her shield. It was both physical and mental. After the incident in the throne room Bella began practicing on how to control the shield but she had no idea just how powerful it was. They learned it was mental after a particularly bad verbal fight with Jane. Jane attempted to use her powers on Bella but failed. Bella was overjoyed by this new development. It explained why Edward was never able to read her thoughts.

"You bitch! These where brand new robes!" Exclaimed Jane as she stood. Bella laughed and rose from her crouched position. "What? You are acting like I destroyed the last pair. If I remember correctly a certain human did."

"Damn straight! She was being a bitch and you were to busy laughing so I had to get revenge some how," replied a new voice. Bella turned and smiled. Angela was standing in the door way with her arms crossed, grinning. In their eight weeks with the Volturi Bella wasn't the only one who had changed.

Angela had become a force to be reckoned with. Three weeks in Angela was injured in a accident. She had lost her eye sight or so they thought. After they removed the gause they discovered she could see but it wasn't the same. She could see their world but another as well. Angela could she ghosts, demons and the other supernaturals that others could not. As a result in order to protect her self her body evolved. Her speed, strength and senses increased to where if need be she could hold her own against a supernatural creature.

"Anyway, Bells it's time to go," said Angela. Bella nodded sadly and followed Angela to the throne room. In the throne room Aro, Caius, Marcus, Felix, Demetri, and Alec where waiting. Jane soon appeared and stood by her brother. No one spoke. No one was ready to say goodbye. After several moment Aro spoke. "It has only been a few weeks but you two have become part of this coven. We want you to take these necklaces and wear them to signify you are part of this coven. We also shipped some gifts to your houses." Aro stopped speaking. He didn't want to finish. It meant he would have to say goodbye.

"I want you to call at least twice a week. And if those Cullens show up you tell us and we will deal with it." Bella grinned and shook her head at Caius. Always overprotective. After the Volturi learned about her history with the Cullens it took everything she and Angela had to stop them from going after the Cullens. The worst out of them all were surprisingly Marcus and Demetri. The two of them were feral. It was shocking not only to Bella and Angela but to everyone else as well.

Everyone else nodded along with him. "Alright we have to go or we wont make the flight," said Angela. Still nobody moved. Several moments later Alec moved forward and hugged Angela and then Bella. "Be safe. And uh just forwarning we are coming to visit and soon," he said. The girls smiled and nodded. Jane came forward next. She hugged Angela and then stepped in front of Bella. Then promptly slapped her. "That was for destroying my robes you bitch," she said. Bella frowned and rubbed her cheek. Bella slowly started grinning. Bella pulled Jane into a rough hug. "I am going to miss you, you moody bitch," said Bella. Jane smiled softly and hugged her back.

Next was Felix. He pick both girls up and spun them around. "Do me a favor and raise hell over there," he said. Angela grinned. "Oh trust me, we will," she said. Demetri came forward and hugged them both. "I will say now what the others won't. You have changed this coven and for the better. You have given us back something we thought we had lost forever. Our humanity. It is something we will forever treasure. But it is also something we can never repay you for. And not only did you bring us our humanity but something we didn't realize we were missing. Life, joy, and well happiness. You added the final missing puzzle pieces to this coven." He smiled gently at the two girls. Angela was near tears but grinned at him and pulled him into another hug. Bella looked at Demetri and the others with unreadable expression. Bella unclenched and re-clenched her jaw several times then spoke. "When I started this trip I was broken. A shell of who I once was. I...had lost a family I loved and trusted with all my heart. And they broke me. But because of the choices they made I have become a better person, a stronger person then I once was. And not only that but I also gained a amazing, loyal, dysfunctional family. You all fixed me in one way or another. And for that I," she stopped and took a deep breath and tried to continue but the words refused to come out.

Thankfully she didn't have to continue. "Ok enough with all the sappiness. We have to get these two to the airport," Caius said.

And so the group left but not before hearing faintly in the background, "They are going to flip their shit when they get home."

Hey there. Its been awhile hasn't? This chapter has been hell to write. I am not all that satisfied with it but I felt like I should post because I have the next two and a half chapters written. I tried to create a name for this race but couldn't come up with anything thing good so I went with Forgotten. If any of you have a suggestion for a different name or something I should add or remove from the race or if I should just remove it all together and go with something cliche let me know. I tried to be original but I dont think it turned out all that well.

Now I have been debating with my self about something and have finally made a decision. I would like to co-author this story with someone if anyone is interested. I need someone to kick my ass into gear when I get lazy and someone to argue with about ideas and add things to this story to make it better. If you are interested send me a PM or drop a review.
