I do not own Inuyasha!
Please read and review!
Kagome woke with a smile just as the sunlight filtered through the trees shining down on her gloriously. A feeling of joy enveloped her heart as she remembered her mother in law returning the piece of her soul making her whole once more.
Her smile widened when her wakefulness alerted the children who stared down on her in anxiousness. "I feel wonderful so please stop worrying all of you," her voice sounded cheerful as she said those comforting words to her family. "Mmmph," was there sighing of relief causing her to roll her eyes in playfulness.
Curiously Sesshomaru stood aside with an expression that darkened his eyes as his pupils shrunk, shutting out the light and casting a curtain of shadow as he looked down, and for the briefest of moments an uneasy sensation jabbed at her heart.
Looking around, her blue gaze wandered to a large home some distance away and the grassy meadow she now lie in. It was strange, the feelings of awkwardness and being out of place and out of sorts lingered. Sesshomaru gave her an assessing look as her curious stare went around the vicinity a few more times before settling on him. It was as if she was considering on something he thought.
"What is this place, and why does that house look so…so strange.?" She asked with furrowed brows while pulling on her bottom lip and stared pointedly at him, letting the children know that she wanted him to answer. Coming forward he knelt low in front of her as she sat up at an angle resting on her elbows.
The hand on her tummy was gentle with its soothing caress, the action brought her attentions to the vicinity where their baby grew and thrived. She smiled happily as she remembered the pregnancy and the care both she and Sesshomaru took to ensure that their offspring survived.
She had fed off his blood and youki just to sustain the baby's life and hers, and they were overjoyed at the prospects of becoming parents, this being her first. But something was wrong and terribly so. They say that the eyes were windows to the soul, and what was reflecting from Sesshomaru's eyes and into hers gave her reason to pause.
Striking golden eyes were shrunken and lifeless and he did not return her joyous smile, his lips thinned into a straight line and worry creased his brow. "Sessh, what is wrong? You are scaring me. "Her voice broke and muffled with the onset of tears.
"Akiyoshi," he addressed his first born and gave him a stern look. The boy nodded and took his siblings away from the region and up on a hill. Kagome's trembling hand reached down and covered his over her belly and gently pushed it away. His eyes told her what she already knew in her heart, but believing it was another matter all together.
"Kagome," he said but she did not hear as the blood rushed fiercely to her brain, and her heart palpitated harshly in distress drowning out the world around her. Trembling fingers grasp her abdomen moving up, down and sideways searching for the little bump and proof of life, however it was gone.
Shaking her head in disbelief and slamming her hands over her ears she wailed and screamed with bitter pain. Posturing beside her Sesshomaru gathered his mate into his arms and rocked her back and forth as she cried. Loss for words he could only hold her closer and kiss her head as her already frail form shook with the force of her anguish.
"Why must we suffer so…I want my baby Sesshomaru." Her words were filled with sadness and his heart shattered some more by her brokenness. He had no answer for her because there was nothing he could say to lessen the pain. They both had been through too much already.

The days turned into weeks but Kagome state of mind did not improve, the loss of the child was too great, and it did not get any better when the cause of the miscarriage was discovered. Apparently when her soul was released from the pentacle, evil had seeped alongside it and had entered her body. Her powers acted accordingly and purified the malicious presence along with their demonic offspring.
The children brought her flowers and washed her feet but she remained unresponsive. And him she shut out completely. He couldn't say that he blamed her because somehow he was responsible. All the grief was partially his fault. If he had not dragged her into his world and into his life she would have been safe.
She had taken to a spot on the hill and would stare at the moon, Sesshomaru left her alone while she grieved; only Taizo did not subject himself to that rule. Closer and closer he came towards her as his father watched but did not stop him. He had not spoken a word or a sentence to anyone for over two months since he was rescued.
He played and he smiled but no other actions or emotions were displayed. He went and stood before her and she gazed at him and thought that he looked a lot like Inuyasha, without the dog ears. He was quite aware that she was sad and not herself, so he remained standing and watched her carefully. Kagome knew that the child stared at her, and feeling lost she gazed at him curiously, silently.
Maybe she had imagined it or was it that her mind had degenerated into madness? But somehow the child had founded his way into her arms, and while she hugged him close and cried, the words 'mother' spilled from his lips as he mumbled the endearment into her clothes. She stilled as the dark clouds that had covered her mind cleared. Closing bewildered eyes for a moment in thought, small hands touched her face softly and slowly they re-opened, seeing clearly for the first time in a long while. Taizo raised his head and gazed into her teary eyes and said. "Mother I love you, please don't go away again."
The anger, the bitterness and emptiness shattered into dust and was swept away by the rising currents of her emotions. Her head cleared and a heart that beats but was drowning in sorrow kick started and pulsed with life, the tears fell, but this time they were tears of hope.
Hugging the little boy close to her body again and kissing his silky locks she responded. "I will never leave you or your brothers and sisters. I am here to stay." And after sometime had passed, Taizo got up and kissed her cheek, bidding her goodnight.
Alone on the hill she thought of the miscarriage and of her mate, something she had not done for an entire month. Getting up to go, an outstretched arm beckoned to her and she took it feeling guilty and lowering her head in the process as she apologized. "I am sorry my love for closing the doors but I was in a bad place. I needed time."
Nodding his head in understanding he pulled her close and kissed her forehead. Leading her down the hill by the hand and into an area surrounded by trees and flowers, almost in likeness to a garden only this one was uncultivated, he began to undress.
