A big surprised, I'm back!
I said I would finish this chapter, and I meant it, dammit! There really is no excuse for my long absence. I took more time than I needed, and that's my own fault. I wouldn't be surprised if I lost a lot of viewers because of this. But oh well, I can't do anything about it. If I can say a few things about what's been going on in my defense, just so many things came up as a distraction for me. I won't get into details, so don't ask. So I pretty much lacked tons of motivation to get this done, which is such a pain. I really need to get back into the groove of writing cuz I have more stories to write. I remembered it being easier years ago DX. Also, I needed to worry about the chapter being consistent with the story, having to backtrack every one and a while, so that's taking more time to work with.
Aaaannnndddd, I also would like to apologize to those I ranted about in the last chapter. I was in a terrible mood when I wrote that and it does come offas unfair, but it really felt like I was the only person on this site that was being pressured by people without even considering how I felt. But anyways, it's in the past, I'm over it, and I'm really sorry. I really hope you forgive and forget, too :)
Now that the two of them were alone, Leo made sure to secure the door, as well as dimming the lights just a tad so that way the room appeared unavailable to anyone. It's too bad he doesn't have his own keys to keep this door locked, they would be useful right about now. Having to remember to keep a lookout was vital; he peeked his head near the small window on the door, watching as people were walking by without a clue they were hiding inside.
As strange as Leonardo was acting at this moment, Ezio tried to pay no mind. Instead, he busyed himself walking around the room, letting his eyes wander over old looking art assignments that were located upside the wall, which were shrouded by the dimmness of the room, but could still be viewed from where he stands. Observing each and every one, they didn't seem all that special, but he's willing to bet that they are far more better than whatever he can make, that's for sure. When he came closer to the main desk in front of the class, there were a few nicely drawn sketches lying on top that really caught his eye. Ezio decided to take a closer look by rummage through them one at a time. The art style, and the details of the design looked very professional; enough to impress the teacher. He'd be jealous of whoever made them if they actually bothered to put their name.
Leo had to turn his attention away from the door to catch Ezio checking out his desk. "What are you doing?"
Ezio tore his eyes off the drawings to face him, "I was...I was just admiring the drawings here. They are really good. I'm hoping you don't mind?" He was about to put them back out of consideration, but mostly because he forgot to ask for permission.
"I don't mind at all. Feel free to look them over." Leonardo felt undeniably pleased to see Ezio really getting invested into his art. Whether it had to do with his strong feelings for him or just the fact that he was a willing student, gives him a sense of pride that made him feel honored, but at the same time, also slightly amused; these were just random doodles after all. "Though, they aren't my best. Normally, I just make these sketches for my students who are in need of simple steps."
All these sketches are his? Ezio became flabbergasted, "Fantastico. You really are talented." He said, turning back to take a closer look on the sketches which are mostly about the anatomy of the human body. "Such amazing aspects. You've got every detail right. Your work should be in a museum."
Leonardo blushes slightly, scoffing at the idea as he starts to walk up to his student, leaving the door unattended. "You're too kind, Ezio. But I don't think myself as being that great of an artist."
Ezio chuckled, "Now you're just being modest."
That charming tone of his voice and the humble flattering had managed to bring a smile upon Leo's face. But a few seconds afterwards he frowned quickly, as he was reminded why he had Ezio come here in the first place. It is taking him a lot of courage in order to go through with this, now all he has to do is think about what to say next. Just tell him the truth...Should be simple, right? He saw that Ezio had gotten back to looking at the sketches in front of him, and for some reason Leo refused to speak when he openend his mouth. Nothing but a waste of a breath just standing there in silence. So he tries to again. "I'd hate to be a nuisance and draw your attention away from my work, Ezio, but there is still the matter of having our private talk." He moves closer to him, with his hands clasped nervoulsy together behind his back.
Gazing back up at him without hesitation, Ezio didn't let his eyes waver for a second as he sets down the sketches on the table. "No. You're right…." His voice nearly cracks, getting that strange feeling as before. "There was something important you wanted to tell me?"
"Indeed..." Leo's eyes heavily cast downward anxiously. He didn't know what he was stalling for. He has Ezio where he needs him, he should be saying something! What could be holding him back now? Maybe it's just the thoughts running through his head, telling him to abort and run away from here and forget everything, forget what the outcome may be. It might not even be worth it.
Leo didn't realize how long he had remained quiet. Ezio had certainly noticed, so he could only assume something was bothering him. "Qual è il problema? You don't look so good."
"No, I'm fine, believe me. I just...I mean, there isn't much of a problem per se..." Leo groans in frustration, anxiously running a hand through his bangs, "It's just that...Ugh, I don't know if I can do this. I've been debating on it for a while now, but...I just don't know how to tell you without..."
"Mr. Da Vinci, whatever it is you have on your mind, I think I can handle it." Ezio reassures him with a smile. "I agreed that I would hear you out, remember?"
"I know, but..." Ezio was now growing wary. He was getting a weird feeling in his gut, that something just wasn't right. And this whole time he's been half expecting a love confession when Leo wanted to speak to him alone. Surely, they both must know of the mutual feelings they have for each other, Ezio can tell by the way he looks at him, even Sef thinks so. So why would he be upset, though? Apparently that may not even be the case here. It must be something else. Something...Bad.
"...But what?"
There was an awkward silence between the two for a moment; neither can utter a word even if they wanted to. By now, the taller man was growing anxious himself, with every second passing and getting worse. He did not like this. The way Leo was acting distant and afraid with Ezio, it really started to make him worry. Then Leo focused his eyes back on him, his expression suddenly serious. It was completely different from his usual shy and cheerful look. "We-We can trust each other, right?"
"Huh?"
Leo went to put his hand onto the other's shoulder. "I need to know now. It is important that I trust you as much as you trust me."
A weird way to start off this conversation, but it's something, at least. "Absolutely. We're practically close friends already." Ezio said, placing his hand over Leo's while staring into his eyes. "I don't see why not."
Leo suddenly looked at him with hopeful eyes, "Really? Then...You can tell me anything, correct? Anything at all? No matter how crazy the circumstances may be? You'll tell me knowing that I have your complete trust?"
"I, er...I suppose so." Ezio honestly didn't know where this was going, but he wouldn't let that deter him so easily.
"Okay...Then can you answer me this...Why did you really come to this place? To this school, I mean?"
Ezio blinked a few times, backing away to let Leo's hand drop. Now he really wasn't expecting that kind of question, but he'll gladly answer it anyways. "I just want the same thing as everyone else here." He was going to lie, obviously, "I have goals that I want to achieve. Getting a good education, excellent grades to impress the parents with, graduate and all that jazz. Pretty typical stuff, you know?" Ezio states just like he practiced in case this topic ever came up. Lucy would be so proud of him if she were here. "That...And one of my other goals were to get as many digits as I possibly can." He jokes
Though he has taken notice how Leo seemed almost distressed, as if that was the type of answer he didn't want to hear. Ezio became more confused. Did he say something to offend him? Perhaps that last statement wasn't his best choice of words. Then again, maybe he wanted something more.
Leo should have known better, he knew he wasn't going to get the truth out of him this way. He'll have to go for a straightforward approach. "Ezio, you know that's not what I meant... Why did you really come here?" Leo asked, looking at him seriously
How is he not buying it? Ezio was beginning to panic. "Um...But...I just told you the truth, honest-"
"Sadly, that isn't what I was told." Leo announces out loud.
Ezio gave him a perplexed look, "Scusi?"
"Everything you just said, I know that was a lie. Though, that was expected. I knew you wouldn't trust me enough to tell me the truth." Leo looked down sadly.
"Leonardo..." Ezio attempted to reach out.
Leo forced himself to turn away from the boy. This was much harder than he had hoped. "I know your true motives. Why you are here. What you're after. I know everything."
"What do you mean? I'm afraid I do not understand."
Leo could not muster enough will power to even look him in the eye. "Ezio, please. You can stop with the act. I know you're not really an exchange student, or at all for that matter...In fact, I am well aware that you aren't even human."
Ezio's blood runs cold, and a shiver ran down his spine. He was getting this sinking feeling this was going in the wrong direction, one he really hopes isn't what Leo was insinuating. In order to defend himself, he responds quickly with, "Leonar- Sir, what you're saying doesn't make sense. I am telling you that I am not lying in any way. I have no reason to do that to you, I-"
That's what did it. Leo couldn't take it anymore, and screws his eyes shut to blurt out, "Ezio...I know, okay!? I know you are a vampire."
A grave silence befell them once again, leaving nothing but the sounds of the clock ticking away and the muffled laughter in the hall. Ezio was bewildered, and for some reason he could not breathe at that moment. This was impossible. How the hell Mr. Da Vinci knew about his secret was beyond him. There was just no way he could have known. Unless, Sef had given him away? Was he foolish to have trusted that kid?
Leo was looking right at him, waiting for a response. Seeing him with that face was troubling. "Ezio?"
This was too much. He wasn't ready for this, he can't handle it. "I'm sorry-I should probably go." He tries to run past the teacher to escape from the room, but suddenly a hand grab hold of his wrist.
"No, wait...Don't go, please." Ezio dared not face him, and Leo might have known how he felt. Perhaps he could have chosen his words more carefully, doing it this way would only provoke fear into Ezio. He looked as if he was about to run as fast as he could and never look back.
"How long?" Ezio gulps when he finally speaks. "How long have you known?"
"Since day one..."
"W-Why didn't you say anything before?"
"We were just strangers, you and I. Telling you too soon would have caused such a bad reaction from you." Leo said.
That's reasonable. It was a little silly the way he overreacted, but not all is well just yet. He turns around to gaze upon Leo with uncertainty, "And yet...You aren't afraid?"
"I've spent almost my whole life being surrounded by others, Ezio. You aren't the first I've encountered." Leo admits calmly.
Now this suddenly piqued Ezio's interest. "You've met others? Does that go for...That means that you-"
"If you're going to ask if I know any of them personally, then yes. Like I know about Sef, and his kin. And through them, plenty more." This raises so many questions. Why couldn't Sef have brought this up before? Certainly he would have a lot to explain for, but at least this whole ordeal could have gone smoother and be less awkward. "I know this may be a lot for you to take in..."
Ezio tore his eyes off of him for a second, rubbing along the back of his neck, "It is. I mean...For as long as I have lived, I never revealed myself to any mortal...That is, until now."
Leo suddenly frowned, "I suppose you were never planning to."
Ezio was quick to notice, "Don't think it's because I don't trust you. It's nothing like that." What was he doing? This was supposed to be the part where he holds him, and tell him how wrong he was and never let go. He wants to do this so badly, but he forces himself from doing exactly that. It really wouldn't do much help.
If only he could make him understand this situation, about him, about his people and what they stand for, and everything in general. If it wasn't for that blasted code he had to follow... "I'm afraid it isn't that simple. It is too dangerous for us to be exposed to mortals. And even if I did want to tell you...I was just worried that you...That you would..."
"That I would be afraid?" Leo attempted to finish his sentence.
Ezio corrected him, "That you would stop liking me."
Ah, so that was it. They definitely have something in common with each other more than they realize. "I see..."
Once again, there was a long slince between them, and it was starting to be a heavy burden on both of them, Ezio can tell. He approaches the other, heedful as he moves closer, trying to come off as positive, "Well, this is still good. At least now, I no longer have anything to hide from you." He proceeds to tenderly grasp Leo's arm, "As you said before, there shouldn't be secrets between us, right?"
Leo instantly shrinks back before contact could be made. It all comes back around to what he was trying to say before. And as much as he doesn't want to, he knows he has to. "But that's just the thing. There is so much more I have to say. So much more." Leo begins to fidget with his fingers, feeling his heart pound furiously in his chest from the misgivings that continues to obscure his mind, which will only further delay the inevitable. He was going over his choices carefully, thinking of the "what if's" and if there are other ways to get around this. Because this could either bring them closer, or break them apart, and that's what worries him most. Then one thing leads to another, potentially causing more problems for him later on.
But Leo cares too much for Ezio, he has to speak the truth, even if it means it'll end up badly, and he is hated for it. "I'm...I'm not a real teacher."
Ezio snorted, genuinely thinking Leo was being too hard on himself, and quickly says, "You shouldn't say that. You happen to be one of the best teachers I ever-"
But Leo cuts him off, shaking his head. "No, listen. I am not who I say I am. When I say I'm not a teacher, I meant that I'm merely protraying myself as such; it is as a cover." He tried to clarify, but sees that Ezio still wasn't getting it. However, what he was about to say next may have disturbed him. "I'm only faking because...It was their will that I do so. They said it was the only way they would allow me to live a normal life again. It's because of them that I-."
"Slow down, por favore." Ezio interrupted this time, holding up his hand in an effort to calm him down. He wanted to know where this was coming from. Judging by his words, it sounded like he was being threatened. If that's true, then he needs to know more. No way in hell is he going to stand by and allow anyone to hurt Leonardo. He begins to question him further, with his face forming into an intense scowl, "Who are they, you speak of? And what do you mean by their will?"
Leonardo lowered his head as if he was ashamed, "They go by the name, 'Templars.' I'm sure you've heard of them?"
The mention of that word had Ezio fuming. It was bad enough that he knew the Templars were taking over cities, using their tactics and authority to scare everyone into hiding, but now they even got to Leonardo as well? Just the thought of one of those scumbags touching a hair on his blonde head, was sickening. This was unacceptable. "How is it that you are associated with them?" Ezio raised his voice. "Have you spoken with any of them? Did they do anything to hurt you? I need you to tell me now! It's important that I-" He saw a certain look in the blonde man's eyes, that made him stop mid sentence. It will not help being aggressive and controlling. So instead he tries going for a much calmer demeanor as to not startle him again. "Leonardo... These Templars are bad news. However it is that you know about them I just want you to be cautious. They will do whatever it takes to get what they want, even if it means hurting the innocent, and they will do the same to you if you don't keep your distance."
Leonardo's frown deepens, "I know that, but it won't change anything. As much as I want to escape from this, they will not let me go."
"They won't get to you as long as I'm here." Ezio's expression softens as he tries to reassure him.
Leo shook his head, "You don't get it. You won't be able to protect me, not even from Robert himself."
"Who?" Like a dog to a whistle, that was the keyword that triggered Ezio to be on full alert.
"You know exactly who I'm talking about, don't you? Robert De Sable? He is the reason why you're here, isn't he? The one you came to kill."
So this is the moment when Ezio's protective instincts start kicking in. He is beyond serious now. "You know that man?"
"At an intimate level, you can say that. It's a long story. And I will explain to you everything as soon as I-"
"What is there to explain? You known him long enough to know what kind of man he is, don't you? He is dangerous, and is capable of anything."
Now it was Leo's turn to get him to relax, "Trust me, I do. It's just that...I-I just want you to understand first."
"Understand what? What are you trying to tell me?"
Leo was taking longer to respond than he realized. He dreaded the moment that it would come to this. He looked at him sadly, "I am a humble servant to him."
Ezio's eyes widened in shock. "What?"
"Ever since you came to this school, Robert had learned that you were a member of the Auditore family. He seemed to be concerned about having you here, so because you were in my class, he instructed me to keep a watchful eye on you, in case you start causing trouble. And your friends are under surveillance, as well. It's been on-going ever since."
Talk about an ironic turn of events. Ezio was still in disbelief over the first statement playing repeatedly in his head. No amount of time interacting with his teacher could have warned him about this ever happening; he never even saw it coming. Truth be told, he was too distracted to even suspect anything, which was a mistake on his part. "But how could you...How did you even..." He couldn't manage to string together his own words. He just couldn't believe that someone like Leonardo would ever be a part of the Templar order. It doesn't sit right with him. But the more he thinks about it, it makes sense if Leonardo didn't have a choice in all this. Why would he work for them, knowing their history? Plus, he is a human above all. Templars usually dispose of humans whenever they serve no use to them, so what could they possibly need Leo for?
"Like I said. It's a long story. I didn't know how else to break it to you without causing you grief. But I had no other way to do it." Leo spoke to him softly, looking just as hurt, "I'm just hoping you can forgive me."
"Why?" Leo flinches a little. Ezio hadn't missed the reaction; he didn't mean for his response to come off as sullen as it did. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Maybe because I trust you. You are a very kind man, Ezio. One of the very few people I ever had the pleasure getting to know, as I'm not really allowed that privilege often. I care about you too much to keep this a secret from you. That's why I decided to tell you now. And I would have done so sooner but...I was just afraid...I was afraid that you would hate me because of it."
Where has he heard that before? Ezio recalls saying something like that just a few minutes ago, except now it's in reverse. Leo still gave him a chance, though, he didn't care about the circumstances. After all that was said and done, what reason does Ezio have not to give him the same benefit? "Leonardo..." He went up to him, grabbing his shoulder with a gentle brush of his hand, "Don't assume such a thing. I could never hate you. You were brave enough to give such a confession to me, even knowing the risks."
Leo dismisses that statement with a chuckle, looking bashful, "I wouldn't say brave. Far from it."
There was that familiar fuzzy feeling in Ezio's chest again. "And yet, you still took the chance." Leo mimicked the same expression, just noticing how close they were to each other.
"Oh, stop...I only did what I thought was right-" All of a sudden, Leo instantly lost the ability to speak, with that hand reaching up to cup his face, making him staring blankly at Ezio. A thumb brushes along his cheek and jawline, just brushing over the stubble on his face, which gave him the hint to move in closer to the touch. They were only inches apart from each other, with Ezio just staring into Leo's blue eyes as he's always finds himself being drawn to. Leo forgot what he was going to say, but he didn't care. They were having a lovely moment.
But that moment got ruined before things could get any better, when they heard the door shut. Leo quickly makes a gap between him and Ezio, as they saw Caterina there with a furious expression, and her hands on his hips. "This better be a misunderstanding."
Leo stares at her nervously, "C-Caterina! Wha-W-What are you d-doing here?"
"You were summoned, so I was asked to fetch you. I thought I would find you here when you decided to take off earlier, and it seems that I came just in time" She responds, quickly glaring at Ezio, as she strides up to them. "Now I'm only going to say this once. Stay away from Leonardo!" She throws the first punch.
Shaun walked moderately in the hall, whilst glancing back every now and then to see the twins back there, who are persistent on following him wherever he went. Normally, he was fine with the idea of being pursued by handsome guys, but this was not exactly what he imagined, especially since it's getting to the point when they're acting like creepers. Of course, if they were that determined, then they might just want something from him, right?
This simply won't do. All he would like to do is get to class in one piece, but he can't be able to risk them knowing which room he's going to with them stalking him like this. Then he comes to a complete stop all of a sudden, already taking note that they were doing the same. "Are you two just going to follow me all day?"
The brothers gave a glance at each other, before staring back at Shaun, "Yep" Jake said.
"We don't mind." Mike also replied.
Shaun scoffed, "No, no, no, what I meant to say was...Don't you have somewhere to be? Obviously you have a class to go to, right?"
"Meh..." Mike shrugged it off, like it wasn't of any importance. "We don't care for such things."
"A complete waste of time, we always say." Jake added.
This made the Brit raise a brow. "That pretty much defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Showing up to school only to ditch? You're certainly quite the rebels."
"Think what you may, Shaun, but we have our priorities. You just wouldn't understand." Jake remarked in a snarky tone.
Mike nods his head in agreement with his older brother, "And it is far more important than you know."
"Really now?" Shaun was becoming even more inquisitive. The twins are more than likely up to something. About what, he really can't tell, but it's either good or bad. So he settles it by indulging them, "Like what? What could possibly be more important? Do you care to share?"
The twins take a brief moment to glance between each other, only to gaze back at Shaun.
"We would tell you if we could..." Jake starts.
Mike follows after with, "Really, we would!"
"But we're not suppose to say."
"As you may come to realize, it doesn't concern you, to be honest..." Mike puts it bluntly.
Which Jake quickly replies, "It's a secret, you see."
"One we must keep to ourselves."
"And no other."
Yeah, that's not creepy at all. Shaun pursed his lips together, sending a glance between the brothers with a dubious look as if he thinks it will help him get what he wants from them. This just makes him all the more curious. These guys are strange, hot, but strange. What could they be hiding? "That's fine if you don't want to tell me. I really don't care." Shaun does care actually. He is a major whore when it comes to huge secrets, he can't help himself around them; the kind that would ultimately change the world forever if word ever got out, and he has come across plenty of juicy stuff he dare not say to any living soul, but take it only to his grave. Not many people can be lucky as he is. Trying his best to ignore what they have to say, he proceeds to walk away, but felt a hand on his chest that made stop.
"But..." Jake started, "We might be willing to share our secret with you-"
Mike was already grabbing his shoulder, "If you tell us a secret of yours. At least this way it's fair."
"It can be anything, really...So long as it's something worth sharing."
Shaun had to make note of that. He has to be careful with what they are suggesting. "I'm not sure I'm okay with that."
Then Mike made a pout, "What's the matter? I thought you liked us."
"I do, I do, don't get me wrong. I just..." Shaun really didn't want to finish that sentence. He gets the feeling the twins won't allow him to leave until they get what they wanted, whatever it is they want to hear. Not that he was intimidated by them or anything. They can try to pressure him as much as they want, but he's more in control here. He can reverse this situation to his advantage if he desired, just like that. So he's gonna have to find a way to trick into revealing their secret first, and then...
"Shaun. Hey, Shaun!" The boys spun around to see a dark haired girl, wearing headphones, approaching up to them, and hooking her fingers into Shaun's vest.
"Oh Rebecca, what...Aaah!" Shaun couldn't finish that sentence since he was being pulled away.
"So sorry, I'm gonna need him for the time being."
Shaun felt a little bad that he had to abandon them, and waves back as he was taken away. "Fine-It's fine. I'll just catch you guys later."
Displeased as the twins were, they chose to stand idly instead of pursuing after them; at this point, it wasn't necessary to do so. They figured there wasn't much to work with Shaun, given how tamed his emotions are compared to most humans in this school. He would just be one of the few that have to be checked off the list. "Such a shame. Now what do we do?" Mike asked his brother.
Jake just patted him on his back, "You need not worry, little brother. There are plenty more around who can satiate our thirst."
Rebecca had just pulled Shaun around the corner, non to gently, before she finally let's go, and begins to interrogate him, "What was that about?"
"Nice to see you too, Becca." Shaun hardly payed any attention to a scolding Rebecca, as he seemed more concerned with fixing his vest than dealing with her.
"Well?"
Shaun just rolled his eyes, "I didn't tell them anything, honest. I know how sensitive you and Lucy get when I going around chatting to random people. But don't worry, my lips are sealed."
Rebecca was willing to let it slide, "So who were they anyways?" She questioned.
A large smile graced Shaun's lips, looking rather smug, as he removed his glasses, "Some guys I'm hoping to put on the rebound. It's not official, but I'm working on it." He took this opportunity to use his vest to wipe away any smudges, before placing them back on his face. Then his mood suddenly changes, "Now, care to tell me why you had to pull me away from those hot studs, like you did? If this is about doing your homework for you again, then I swear to god, Rebecca..."
"No. Not this time." Rebecca muttered softly, a little peevish that he still won't let that go. She looked quickly around the hallway, before pulling Shaun to the side, so their conversation could be more private among the two. She all of a sudden had this big grin stretching across her face. "Alright, just shut up and listen to what I have to say. It'll blow your mind!"
Shaun folded his arms over his chest and shot her with an expectant gaze, "What's this all about?"
Rebecca seemed to have that 'I know something that you don't' kind of look to her that Shaun found rather annoying. Whatever could be her biggest achievement this time? "I happen to know a certain someone who has a crush on a certain person I know."
That was the moment when Shaun lost complete interest, "Don't you usually gossip with Lucy about those things? I mean, why even come to me about it?" He was thinking about ditching her before she could explain, but she had to step in his way as if she read his mind, looking more determined.
"Okay, it has to do with you. Just trust me. You're gonna want to here this."
"Could this wait until later? Because I was in the middle of something-"
"Well this is far more important. Considering I know how much you love secrets, you're just dying to hear what I know."
Silently staring at her for a moment, Shaun decided for her sake, that he'll humor her. Maybe she has something that's worth while, and not a complete waste of his time. "Uh-huh. So out with it. Who's my admirer?"
Rebecca bit her lip, raising her brows in an attempt to look surprised at how fast he gave in. "Well, ha...Geez, I didn't think you would be this compliant." Shaun just continued to stare at her. "Okay, so before I tell you, I just wanna say that you may be a little bit shocked by this. And I'm just warning you now so..."
Shaun threw his head back with a heavy exaggerated sigh, "Heaven sake. Spit it out, Becca. I don't have all day."
"It's Desmond."
A strong force sent Ezio spiraling back, smacking into the black board behind him, and from there slid down onto his ass. His hand reaches up to his face where he felt the pain throbbing. "I'm not done with you." Caterina was coming for him again. Leo started cursing in Italian, feeling helpless to do anything as he watches Caterina relentlessly attacking Ezio.
Ezio was a little delirious, as he presses up onto Leo's desk, to stable himself, but he could not do so in time when Caterina kicks him down and continued to beat him up. Leo finally pulled himself together. Ezio spit out blood, "You're lucky I do not permit myself to hit a woman."
"Then that just makes it easier for me." Caterina countered, cracking her knuckles.
"For gods sake, Caterina..." Leo was running his hands through his hair, helpless to handle the situation. He didn't know what to do.
Ezio got flung to the other side of the class room, bringing down a few desks and stools with him. A groan and a pained hiss can be heard from the Italian, as he was rolling onto his side. "Matto puttana!" Caterina was already maneuvering around the desks and chairs. Ezio tried to compose himself, not realizing she was on top of him, he felt himself being lifted up by his front of his hoodie, and being thrown onto one of the upright desks. She held him steady, with her fist raised high.
Leo moved quickly to grab her hand, "That's enough. You need to stop." Leo struggled to pull her away from Ezio, even though she wasn't budging. "He didn't do anything wrong."
"Do not be so foolish, Leonardo. He is clearly manipulating you."
"You are deluding yourself if you believe I am the one who's been 'manipulating' him." Ezio scowled
Caterina glowers, using her free hand to grab him by the neck, "Silence, Auditore. You don't get to speak. We should have dealt with you when we had the chance."
Leo went to put his arms around her waist, trying his best to get her off so he could get between them. He was able to manage that, but only because Caterina allowed it, and it gave Ezio room to breath and move. "This was my idea. I brought him here so we could be alone." Caterina narrowed her eyes, but she was looking past Leo to look at Ezio.
"Bene" Ezio said, leaning over the desk, with his one hand to his neck, "So if you'll kindly calm your tits for a minute, and let him explain, that'll be great."
"You have some explaining to do." Caterina puts her attention on Leonardo, "Is there any reason why you're here fraternizing with the enemy?" She sent a brief glare to Ezio.
"Oh, you saw that?" Leo blushes from embarrassment, Ezio pretty much felt the same as he did, "So how much more did you...?"
"Enough. Consider yourself lucky they sent me after you and no other, otherwise, you would be in a huge deal of trouble right now."
"Perhaps I didn't think this one through."
"Clearly."
"I know this may seem bad right now, but I only did this because it was the only way I could avoid causing conflict. I apologize greatly for it and take full responsiblity."
"Sorry won't cut it. Not only did you run off with a vampire you just met, but one who is of Auditore lineage, they are notorious enemies of the Templars. And what's worse, you compromised your position you were tasked with to carry out. Your foolish infatuation lead you to go behind our backs and spew out information that he was not meant to discover." She was merciless in her rant, but Leo knew it wasn't enough of a punishment that he deserved. Ezio would have spoken up, but he felt that Leo wouldn't want that, so he stayed his tongue for now. "If Robert knew of this-"
"You're not going to tell him, are you?"
"No. I won't need to. As long as he stays away from you."
"But, Caterina..."
"Save it. We're going now, else they come looking for us."
She began to drag him away, ignoring his pleas to make her listen, "W-Wait!"
In an impulsive action, Ezio shoves her back, acting as a protective shield for Leo. "He doesn't have to go anywhere with you."
"Ezio, don't"
"Just stay behind me. I'm not going to just stand by and let her hurt you." Ezio declared to the woman, making absolutely certain that if she even attempts to reach for Leo again, then he will retaliate this time around.
Caterina narrowed his eyes, "Me? If anything, I'm doing the exact opposite. The only one that'll put him in harm's way is you! Now stand aside, before I smack you across the room again."
Ezio snarls back, "Leonardo stays with me. I will take him far away from this place if I have to, far from the Templars. So that means he no longer serves you."
"You think you can protect him? You have no idea what you are dealing with."
"I don't care. Leonardo is coming with me whether you like it or not."
Clenching her fists tightly, Caterina was about done with this absurdity. "Are you really that dense? He'll never be able to leave the Templars, because they will not allow him to. You can go ahead and try, but they will stop at nothing until they have him again."
Ezio slacked his shoulders a bit, "I don't get it. Leonardo is just a mortal. What could you Templars possibly want with him that makes him so special? Just what is your obsession with him anyways?" He demanded an answer, taking a step up forward. This was all too confusing.
At first Caterina was skeptical over what he just said, thinking he was playing dumb just for the sake of stalling, but looking at his face, it appears he really doesn't know the truth about what makes Leonardo so 'special'. She put on a stony expression before glancing at the blonde, who seemed to back away a little at the moment she did. "You didn't tell him, did you?"
Ezio wasn't following. "Tell me about what?"
"I was just getting to that but...We just got a little sidetracked." Leo informed.
"Wait..." Ezio looked to Leonardo with a questioning gaze, "What is she going on about?"
"Yes. Go ahead." Caterina beckoned, while having this disdainful look on her features, "At this point you might as well tell him everything."
Ezio switches his eyes back to the red haired woman. "I want you to make sense of this!"
Cristina rolled her eyes, "You really are daft. Do you even care to wonder why Leonardo is so important to Robert? And what reason he has to keep him around?" She can see it written all over his face. He was setting himself up for whatever she had in store; although, still uncertain of what he was threading into. "It's quite simple, really. Leonardo is not an ordinary human as you may come to believe. I mean, he was the one to revive Robert to begin with."
Ezio snapped his eyes wide open, spinning around to stare at Leo, who can't help but look guilty. He then glares back at the woman, grimacing, "What are you playing at?! Leonardo cannot be able to do that, it's impossible, it is..."
"If my word is not good enough, then just ask him yourself." Looking back at Leo once more, Ezio was at a loss for words with all this just thrown in his face. This was all kinds of new strange to him. There's no way Leo, who is human, as far as he knows, has some supernatural ability of reanimating the dead, is he? Could that be what she's implying? How is that even remotely possible? A couple of voice resounded from outside the door, making the three of them hush all together. "Damn it" Caterina glares at Ezio before moving over to the door, looking through the short glass window. Leo on the other hand, just felt terrible about this mess. This was not how he wanted things to go down. Not like this. In this way, he feels like he just screwed everything up. Ezio came up beside him, putting his hand on top his shoulder, prompting a smile to the other, but it didn't really do the trick.
Caterina pinched the bridge of her nose, and sighs, knowing fully well that she cannot win in this situation with these two. Leo is clearly in love. Blindly, and too naive perhaps. She is just hoping this won't last for very long. "Look, I'll pretend this encounter didn't happen, but we need to go now." She commanded, readying the door. "If you've forgotten, we have somewhere to be, not the mention if anyone catches us talking to him, they'll assume something is amiss."
Leo didn't need to be told twice. He starts walking up to her, "Yes, yes, okay" But then he was grabbed his his wrist to make him stand still
"He doesn't have to do what you say." Ezio tugs him back.
The woman grew red in the face, and scowls deeply, "Now is not the time nor place for this, Auditore! I've already warned you this before; must I knock more sense into you to make you understand!"
Leo frowns, placing his hand onto his chest, "Ezio, she's right. I'll only get us all into trouble if anyone knew we were together."
"But I can't just..." Ezio bit back from making another comment. He can tell Caterina was this close to losing her shit, and decides against arguing any further. So he pulls Leo further away so she wouldn't hear what he has to say. She just narrows her gaze at this, but Ezio ignores her. "When can we meet like this again? There is still so much questions I need answered." Ezio said quietly to Leo. "There must be some way I can find you. So that way we can..."
"They are watching me almost twenty four hours everyday. It'll be too risky. I'm sorry."
"Leonardo!" Caterina growls in frustration.
Ezio pulls him closer, "Please" And he made that goddamn irresistible face again that Leo swears can be comparable to a puppy. He just has that kind of charm to him.
"Maybe...Instead, I'll come find you." Leo suggested quietly.
This made Ezio feel optimistic, "Is that a promise?"
Leo nods, "I promise. I'll see if I can make some arrangements so we may continue our conversation. And from there...I'll explain everything to you, okay?"
"Bene. It's a deal, then."
"Now, Leonardo" Caterina shouts.
"I'm coming!" Leo was finally released and ran to Caterina as she showed him the exit.
He was allowed to leave first, then she went through, but stopped midway to glare at Ezio one more time. "I'm not done with you, Auditore. So don't think you're off the hook yet." She then proceeds to slam the door.
Ezio felt like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, and he could breath regularly again. That woman could prove to be a real problem. It's gonna be tough now with her watching his every move from now on. That's just great. And as for Leonardo...
Things may be a lot different now. But Ezio is more confident than he ever was before.
Desmond was fed up with all the teasing from Lucy and those other guys, that he needed to be alone to collect his thoughts; he didn't care where he went, really; but he eventually found himself just outside of the school, just on the other side where the shadow of the building towered over him. He didn't think he could ever be this confused. And he's going to become a full fledged vampire soon. There will be changes he is not prepared for, his body will start to feel those changes, affecting him inside out. But that is nothing compared to the urges that he tries to deny so much, these feelings he believes he has for Shaun. Ugh...He hates to call them 'feelings'.
Just then, he heard the door behind him opening due to the creaking sounds it makes. Where Desmond was sitting, with his back to the wall, he says as he looks to the person exiting, "Guys I already told you I'm-" He sees that it was not Machiavelli or Volpe, not even Lucy. But some blonde hair dude with one of the most sketchy smile he ever did see. "Oh-uh sorry, I thought you were someone else."
The guy didn't seem to care, as he starts pulling out a small carton of cigarettes from his pocket. There was a time when Desmond could recognize a brand like that; a very strong kind he tried once a few years back. Not a fan of it though.
"You mind?" The guy was at least courteous to ask, even when it was unnecessary to do so. Desmond just regards him by shaking his head without speaking. The guy places one cigarette between his lips, already igniting it with a flame from his lighter. After that, he even offered one to Desmond, which he ended up declining as politely as possible. Like he needs a reason to get crazy addicted to that shit; he's no idiot. The guy shrugs and goes back to smoking his cigarette, taking a moment to inhale the fumes, and exhales deeply. "I'm Clay, by the way. Clay Kazmarek."
Great, he gave away his name. Now Desmond has no choice but to introduce himself. Best just to make a reply so he could hurry up and be on his way. He really shouldn't be chatting with random people. "My name's Desmond."
"Desmond, huh? Cute name." Clay decided to make himself comfortable, by leaning back on the wall, his arms folding over his chest. "I'm going to assume that you're new here, cuz I'm certain I haven't see your face before. I would know of that, of course. We have been getting a lot of new faces recently."
"Yeah. Why does it matter?"
Clay didn't make an immediate comment. Instead, appeared languid in his movements, raising the cig between his two fingers up to his greedy lips, taking his sweet ass time in his self indulgence. Desmond waited patiently, though; it's not like he has anywhere to be. When he finishes, Clay asks, "Say, you wouldn't happen to be buddies with those other guys that had a scuffle with Abbas a few days ago, would you?"
Did he really just change the subject? If it's Ezio and Altair he's talking about, then it can't be good. Desmond had to play it cool. "Uh...I wouldn't go as far as to call them my friends, but..."
"They made quite the first impression, you know."
As Desmond listens, he subconsciously grips his arm, "Huh. I didn't think they would get so popular."
"Well they did. The news of this spread all over the school like wildfire the past couple of days. It's got everyone really riled up."
"Because of a stupid fight?" Desmond raises a curious brow, as Clay continued to prattle on.
"Yep. It's only a big deal to everyone, because your boys decided to mess with the wrong group of people. And not just any kind of people. I'm talking about those who practically run this school."
Desmond mentally curses, 'Shit'
"I'm mean, yeah, I can agree with others knowing what kind of an asshole Abbas can be, but the guy has connections. These people have a lot of power here, and they don't like being crossed by anyone, much less from new kids messin' with one of their own. So you could probably guess what that means for you..."
"Bullshit. How is it that we are at fault when we weren't the ones that started it!"
Clay showed a lack of concern when he smiles at him and shrugs his shoulders."It really doesn't matter at this point. What's done is done, I guess. Nothing you can do about it now." Desmond didn't like his attitude. Clay had noticed this reaction; clearly Desmond didn't want to hear anymore from him, which he can respect. Desmond brought his arms over his knees and hung his head in dismay. "So what brings you to this school, Des?"
Desmond lifted his gaze back to the blonde, "Huh?"
"Is your stay here as good of an experience as you hoped?" Clay had asked, and Desmond had wondered if that was meant to be sarcasm.
"Um, I can't really say. I haven't been here long." Desmond tried to explain. "Also my time here is only temporary."
"Temporary? Not planning on sticking around? What, this school is not good enough for the likes of you?" Clay asked all defensively, clearly not trying to be serious, though.
Desmond bellows a laugh, "It's nothing like that at all. I just...How can anyone feel safe around here? Everything just seems...A bit off."
"That's what I thought so too when I moved to this town. And...I don't really blame you. Mostly everyone in this school have a tendency of being a little aggressive at the start. But it all comes down to who you can really trust." Clay said. "Always have friends. That's the one important rule. At least for me, that's a rule I like to follow."
Desmond only rolled his eyes, "If you say so."
Clay drops the cig on the ground, quickly stomping on it with his foot, and pushes off the wall, and went over to Desmond, sitting next to him. A little too close for comfort, especially now that his arm is lacing around his tense shoulders. "Has anyone told you it isn't safe for a fledgling to wander around alone?" Desmond was taken by surprise. The man was staring right into his eyes, and he was staring back; it was hard to decipher if he was being threatened at this moment or if he was being warned. "You shouldn't stray too far from your group. Especially when there are a lot of bad people who might take advantage, given the chance. It'd be a real shame if anything were to happen to you."
"You know that I'm..."
"Of course I do. Fledglings always do have that strange smell to them, which makes them an easy target. Did your "friends" forget to tell you that? Or did they not care enough to bother?"
At this, Desmond found himself blushing a little. He doesn't need some stranger patronizing him about what he is. He was already embarrassed that his friends had a laugh about him earlier about Shaun. He didn't come out here just to be made fun of again. "Well, thanks anyways for the warning, but I am capable of looking out for myself." He breaks free from his hold, becoming relieved when he was given some space. "I always have." Desmond then stood up and decided to go back inside.
As he was walking back up the steps, Clay criticizes him with, "That's a sure way of getting yourself killed, Des. You just said so yourself it wasn't safe here."
Desmond stopped, sending a fierce glare back at the blonde. "Listen pal, you don't even know me, nor what I've been through. I may not seem like much to you, but I'm more than just a fledgling. I am capable, so you'd be foolish to underestimate me."
It was difficult for Desmond to seem unaffected by such an unsettling smirk splaying across Clay's face, now that he stood up and started to approach him slowly. "You know what? You are absolutely right. So, I'll tell you what." He got off his bag to unzip it, as he searches through for paper and a pen. Desmond observes him, as he folds the paper in half, already scribbling something down. As soon as he finished what he wrote, he extended it to Desmond to receive it. "This is the street and address to the Borgia's place. They'll be throwing a party this Friday. So you are now officially invited."
Desmond stared with confusion, "You're just giving this to me?"
"Well, normally we don't like to invite people we barely know. But, I can always make an exception. You're pretty cool in my book." Desmond just took the invite without even considering his options. Not like he was thinking at all. "So if you decide to come on by, that'll be neat. But I would recommend you show without your buddies. The last thing you need are assholes getting on your back because of their bad rep." He made his way around Desmond, halting just before the entrance.
"This sounds almost too good to be true. How do I know this isn't a trap? For all I know, this could be a setup from Abbas as a means of getting back at Ezio and Altair."
Clay put on a playful smile, "Ooh, you got us. We've been secretly plotting against you the moment you arrived. You are so clever...Not to mention adorable." He teases. To which, Desmond made a face. "Hey, I'm only trying to help you fit in. And this is the only way you can, believe it or not." Whether Desmond believed it or not, he was still unsure. "But it's your decision, so I'm hoping you make the right choice; just know that you'll be missing out." He adds, giving him a charming wink, before spinning around to leave him to his thoughts. "Catch you later, Des~"
Desmond was in awe, more than a little dumbfounded. He couldn't think of wording out a 'thank you,' or a 'fuck off' kind of comment that comes to mind. It was already too late anyways. Clay was gone, and Desmond was alone once again. He kept his eyes fixed on the doorway for a moment, then glances back at the paper in his hands, looking over the address. He couldn't get over what just happened, but at the same time, he really doesn't care now. It looks like he has plans for this upcoming Friday. "Whoa"
That's it for now. I would have included so much more, but it's like I said before, things don't go exactly the way I want it to. So I had to edit some more, rearrange and delete what doesn't seem like a good idea to me. But with the way the pacing is going, it could be a while before there are any good bits. So I have to be more organized for what I'm setting up in the next chapter, so there can be something interesting going on. I can't make promises that the next chapter will be coming soon SOON, but I have already let you all know, that I'm still working on them, bit by bit. I know I have been taking forever to upload, but I'm just not as motivated as I used to be, so it sucks! But at least I'm getting back into it, so that's some good news.
So that being said, I'll be off :D
