Chapter #07 - A Kind Face Turned Cold
All of the genins that passed the second exam stood in the main hall of the temple, waiting for the host to announce the start of the third exam.
Once the host of the second exam appeared in the main hall, she opened her eyes and said to the genin that stood before her,
"First of all congratulations on finishing the second exam, I know it wasn't easy!" spoke Anko in a loud tone of voice so everyone could hear
"It was challenging, but nothing we could not handle!" spoke Millianna underneath her breath, making sure no one could hear her!
Anko was amazed to see these many genin still left in the tournament, she would have thought by now the number of competitors wouldn't even be in the double digits.
Seeing how it is only prove one thing, either the first two exams are way to easy, or that these genins are stronger than they appear to be, never the less they somehow made it through the second exams and that was enough to bring a smile on Anko's face.
"Alright now listen up! Lord Hokage is going to be explaining the third exam to you all. So you all better pay attention!" spoke Anko as the room went dead salient.
Once the mood was set to the Third Hokage's liking, he stared at all of the genins that stood before him and he said to them all,
"Before we continue onto the third exam I want to share something with you all. The true purpose behind the Chunin exam.
It allow the other nations to see the strength of our shinobi's, and who knows maybe even create bonds between those nations!
But it is important that you all not forget the true meaning of these exams. And that is fighting!
Through fighting we can either create lasting friendships that would survive against time itself,
Or we can create enemies that wish to destroy everything that we worked so hard to build." Spoke the Third Hokage
"Um Lord Hokage I have a question! If the Chunin exams just caused us to have more enemies, than why hold the chunin exams in the first place?" spoke a young pink haired shinobi, not fully understanding the purpose of these exams.
"That's a good question, why do we have the Chuunin exams? The answer is quite simple, but to find it we must venture back to the creations of the Five Lands.
You see back in those times each and every day was battle for power.
Everybody fought against each other, from the strongest shinobi's to the weakest all fighting for the same thing, the power to stand above the all and rule over everything!
Yes it was brutal. Every day a head full, if not more love ones day in the war that was happening outside their homes.
They turned their heads and closed their eyes to the world around them, that was the only way people could continue in life. That was the only way they could find the strength to stand up, to fight for those that still live in this world.
How they could protect the memory of those that fell before and during the war's.
It was not pretty, but in time the five nations came to an agreement.
Instead of risking their entire arm being wiped out! They decided to hold a tourniment!
To see who was stronger!
The victor land would be in power over the rest, if their one they send into battle succeed" spoke the Hokage telling the story of how the Chuunin exam was created.
As the Hokage continued his speak of the so called creation of the exams, was like thorns to his ears,
Asun could not, no! He would not believe anything as barbaric as what the leader was speaking of! How he and the people before was willing not only to turn a blind eye to the world around them, as horrible acts take place.
But they take knifes into each others backs just to gain power over the rest.
What kind of person would stomach such a dark secret as this for so many years, Asun looked around hoping to see some shocked and stunned faces such as he, but instead he saw just plain faces.
On all of the genin faces, he could not believe what he saw. Was he listening to the same thing as they are? If so then how could they stand idly by as a man such as the Hokage rule?
"You are willing to kill children, just so you could be in power!" spoke Asun getting tick out over how weak the Hokage was sounding.
"Calm down Asun" spoke Millianna trying to stop Asun was making a scene
"No! I will not calm down, how can a person like you be in-charge of a village? If you do not even care about your own citizens lives? Perhaps you only care about your own worthless life?
Well! Answer my question!?" spoke Asun completely enrage over what he was hearing!
"Hey! Listen you little brat, no one desrespic the Hokage!" yelled Anko defending the Hokage's name, from being slandered by this little brat.
She was going to act and put the child back in his place, but her Lord decided it would be best for her not to interfere in these matters.
Like a good servant she obeyed her Lord's wishes and back off from attacking the child at hand, instead she was silent as the Third Hokage spoke to the boy,
"I know how you feel! I to felt this way along time ago before I became Hokage.
But what you do not understand is that when you are in power, the many always weigh over the few." spoke the Hokage trying to show to the boy that he wasn't a bad guy,
But the boy refused to listen to anything he had to say, he could not believe that he wanted to become Hokage in the first place.
"Nay! I do not believe in the words in which you spoke. Rather I despise your every waking existence. You are a pathetic old man with a worthless title.
Sitting back as others do your dirty work for you!" spoke Asun releasing all of the rage that was inside of his body, making sure that his voice was heard. Even if it was an negative one!
"Enough!" spoke Millianna tired of hearing Asun disrespecting this village.
She pulled him back while she said the Hokage,
"Me and my team would like to apologies for what one of us have said to you. I give my deepless condolence to you and to your people in which serve under you.
We mean no disrespect to you or to the title in which you hold!
Please forgive everything in which we have done up until this point that have brought you any ill will." spoke Millianna trying to clean up the mess that her team-mate had made.
But later on during the rest of the Hokage's speech, Millianna whispered to Asun this,
"Listen very carefully. I hate this man as much as you, but we cannot make a scene, not here! Not now!
It would not be the wise move. " whispered Millianna quietly to Asun making sure no one was listening in on their conversation.
"Is that all you have to say!?" whispered Asun wondering if there was a point to Millianna's words.
"No! Me and Night have your back, remember that!" whispered Millianna knowing that her words was not clear.
Even so Asun took her words to heart and replied back to her "I will"
Once the Hokage speak was through, a voice echoed through the room that said these words and nothing more!
"Lord Hokage! Before you continue, please allow me Hayate Gekko pointed as predictor of the third exam to speak first on your behalf!" spoke the voice as yet another person enter the room and stood before the genins
The man in which entered the room spoke of how it would be another task that the genin's must complete before being able to proceed to the third and final exam.
It was shocking, it seemed that was the only that got the genins to show any real emotion.
"How pathetic! This is the only thing that caught your attention. You all are as worthless as the man that hold the title of Kage?" thought Asun as he saw the reaction the other genins made, knowing they had to work just a little harder to get what they wanted.
But they gave no reaction to what the Hokage said! Truly monsters, only furthering the young boy's heart to turn to his master wishes.
It would be a preliminary round he said, how all of the genin must participate for the chance of glory
It was obvious what they was trying to do, even to the dullest of eyes. They was just trying to get the numbers of consistence that would participate in the third exam, to decrease.
To fade into the background, they would not even give the kids a chance to rest after their little adventure through the thick deep forest that lies beyond the walls of the temple.
Tossing them around making them compete against each other like rabid animals, waiting to be put down.
Asun would have said something, but it would have done little to no good at all, it was plainly clear that all will be force to play apart of this new task that they have just thought up.
This new host explained how the preliminary rounds are going to work, basically it would be a one on one match between competitors. Sense their was only twenty of them, it would be only ten matches.
The winner get to proceed to the next exam, the loser on the other hand must exit the building and accept that they would no longer be apart of the Chuunin exams. Harsh but fare rules to live by.
Once everybody knew the rules to these preliminary exam, they all turned and stared as the first two names appeared on the board above them.
The names of the two that would partake in the first match appeared on the screen, and those names was on other than Asun and Kankuro. The one's that used the same style of fighting,
Also the one's that hated each other the most, Asun for the way he just plain out punched him, and Kankuro for how he treated him. They was both itching for a fight, Asun was darn sure that he would be the one that would take home the victory,
His opponent thought otherwise, like expected!
Once the battlefield was all cleared of any interference, the match begin and the two begin fighting.
The two shed their armor sure of speak, and summoned their puppets to their side.
Like a true sword's man, Asun did not dare show how much anger he had built up for his opponent. Instead he poured it all into his puppet as he pulled his blade from its holder.
Once the light shine off the Swords Man puppet blade, the puppet launched like a rocket and like it was nothing he started to slice the Kankuro puppet to pieces.
Fear to over the sand ninja's heart, "Crow!" yelled Kankuro at the top of his lungs trying his best to get his puppet away from the his opponent.
"I don't think so!" spoke Asun as his Swords Man quickly grab Crow and through his back to the ground, only to face further punishment.
If wood could actually speak, the Crow would curse the name Asun to the very pits of Hades. Never again to return to the world of the living.
But that just was not the situation they was in, no! The people in the stands just watched as Kankuro struggle to cling onto the still remains of his dear beloved Crow.
"You monster!" spoke Kankuro full of rage, just ready to burst as he stared with dead eyes at his puppet, that lie in ruins before him.
"Do not shed a tear over the lost of something that hold no life, it only weaken you! I don't think I can stand it, if my opponent was weaker then you right now!" spoke Asun as he was going for the finishing blow.
Asun ended the battle with an direct blow to his opponent spine, paralyzing him for the moment being making him the victor of the first match.
Hoping his team-mates would follow him his footsteps, he ordered his puppet to pull its blade from the opponent's body and retract it back within itself.
Once done he returned his puppet back into its scroll, and joined the rest of his team in the stands.
Hayate Gekko did not know what he saw just then, a battle started and ended in under two minutes. It was truly stunning to gaze at such skill combine with form that for a genin unbelievable.
Knowing it was far to soon to take any breaks, Hayate just decided to wait as the medical staff remove Kankuro from the battlefield before revealing the next two people that will be participating in the second match of the preliminaries.
With barely anytime past two more names appeared on the screen, and those names was Yorio Akado and Tenten.
"Can I please have Yorio Akado and Tenten to step down onto the battle arena." spoke Hayate speaking to the genins above him.
"That was quick!" thought Tenten feeling like her time came a bit too soon than she would care for.
But the time was upon her to step into the battlefield, and take her place along with her opponent in the fight to claim glory.
As she made her way to the battlefield, she could hear her team-mate along with her Sensei yelling at the top of her lungs, over-reacting like they normally do, unlike her other team-mate.
He was cold and showed no emotion besides a revolting, unpleasant, disgusting look upon his face. Tenten could not determine if he was truly happy or just disgusted with her just like all the rest
Not knowing his true feelings she decided to direct her gaze to the one that stood before her path, the one that she must fight if she never wish to obtain the title of chunin.
"Now let's begin the second match to determine the next contender that will proceed to the final exam" spoke Hayate Gekko as he used his power to start the second match.
Once the battle comments, the young girl quickly pull and un-tethered the binds that hold the scroll together.
In with the release of the two scrolls, hundreds if not thousands of weapons of all kinds flew from the pages and at the very person that stood in their path.
Like an internal reflex the man's chakra poured from his body only to cover his hands in it's nice blue glow,
The chakra acted as a blade and it deflect all others that came in contact with it, protecting the host in which the chakra serve.
The scrolls became empty and her opponent face no harm to his flesh, to combat and change this situation the girl quickly reach for another scroll,
But it seemed that her was to slow, and thanks to that she was vulnerable to her opponent will, and because of that Yoroi grabbed the child and through her body against the wall behind him.
The pain was great, and the girl had to endure so much extra pain.
Yes! She was tossed around the battlefield like a rag-boll unable to stop what was being done to her.
At the finally moment as Yoroi lifted his opponent's body up into the air by her throat, thanks to his generosity allowing the girl to speak her final words, allowed Tenten the opportunity to turn the tides and strike back.
So she did. She pulled a kunai and stabbed it as far she could into Yoroi shoulder, causing her to drop to the floor.
Where she pulled and opened as many scrolls as she could handle in the sort time frame in which she was given.
It took longer than expected to pull the blade from his shoulder, but once the blade was removed Yoroi could see his own defeat stand before him in the form of a little girl.
In raged Yoroi rushed to change his fate, only to be stabbed again and again by weapons.
"You little!' spoke Yoroi as he passed out from the instance blood lost, caused by the hundreds of weapons stabbed into his flesh.
"Thank the sky" spoke Tenten pleased and full was of joy as she was claimed the second victor of the preliminary rounds.
Once the girl made her way back to the team, Hayate Gekko got the attention of all the genin's and said this,
"Now we are going to take a few minutes before the third match of the preliminary begin" spoke Hayate Gekko giving all of the genin's a chance not only to rest, but also a chance take what they just saw in.
As all of the genins took a moment to fully analyze the battle that they just saw, Tenten team did not waste a single moment in congratulating her in her victory.
Another person would also congratulate her on her victory, a person that found the battle most entertaining.
"Yes, that was a most entertaining I have to give it to you." spoke Asun as he approach Tenten team.
To bad that they did not treat him with the same respect that he showed them, at least Neji didn't.
"I know you." spoke Neji trying to place Asun right out the gate
"You do?" spoke Asun wondering if this person knew his true identity
Luckily for him he did not, all Neji knew was that he fought Kiba in the woods.
"I did, but it for a good reason. I a sure you that much." spoke Asun
"Is that right! To pick a fight with one of our own prove that you not to be trusted." spoke Neji
""Coming from a guy that regenerate from a side branch of his clan" spoke Asun getting on Neji's nerves
"What did you say about me?" spoke Neji getting irritated by Asun
Did not wish to start anything with the leaf shinobi's, Asun said something hoping to calm everybody down.
"Everybody just need to calm down, I only came over her to congratulate Tenten, which I had already accomplish.
I see that I am not wanted her, so I will leave without speaking another world, if you give me a chance too!' spoke Asun looking for an exit
"I don't really care what you do!" spoke Neji shutting down, not allowing a low level scum affect his mood
Seeing Neji backing down allowed Asun to proceed in the true reason why he came over there.
"If that the case, you won't mind if I ask Tenten some questions about the battle I just witness." spoke Asun
Since Neji gave no response to his reply to him, Asun just decided to speak to Tenten directly than continuing to speak through Neji.
After Asun approached Tenten he said to her, "Summoning weapons from scrolls and using them to fight is a very interesting. It caught my eye right out of the gates,
I didn't even knew that type of fighting style even existed." spoke Asun
"Thanks! The fighting style I used is called Weapon Summoning jutsu. I along with others put these weapons in a stasis that will hold it until we need them. Once we need them, we use ninja scrolls to draw the weapons from the stysis into this world.
You could say we use scrolls as some kind of portal." spoke Tenten sharing how her jutsu works
"Interesting indeed!" spoke Asun getting very intrigue by Tenten's words
"Thanks!" spoke Tenten appreciating that someone think that her moves was interesting
"But really, I believe that you are a fine genin. Would be a even finer ninja when you marcher.
Remember that!" spoke Asun as he walked back to his team-mates, fulfilling what he came over there to do.
By the time Asun got back to his team-mates and told them what he discovered, it was already time to call the next two people for the third match.
"Everyone can I please have your attention? It time for the third match of these preliminary to begin." spoke Hayate Gekko as they all stared at the screen to see who will be participating next.
A few seconds pass before the next two names appeared on the screen, and the names was Kiba and Choji.
"Yes. It's my time to shine" spoke Kiba thrilled to know that he will be up against a total fatso, but something was bothering him,
If he want to focus all of his energy on the fight at hand, he just got to get it off his chest.
"Hinata?" spoke Kiba feeling most humble
"Yes!" spoke Hinata responding to Kiba
"I just want to say that I am sorry for abandoning you, back there in the forest!" spoke Kiba feeling vulnerable and humble
"It's okay! But I appreciate and accept your apology" spoke Hinata happy that Kiba apologies to her
"Thank you" spoke Kiba feeling relieve that his team-mate accept his apology
He felt so relieve that he actually jump over the railing and land on the floor below.
Once both Choji and Kiba was facing each other, the host for the preliminary round said that they may begin the match.
When call was given and the host exit out of the battlefield, Kiba began to taunt his opponent,
He said many things, but only one thing actually got to Choji, only one thing that made the blood in his body boil. And that was Fatso.
Once the words resonated in Choji's ears he went ballistic upon his opponent, didn't even give Kiba a second to figure out what brought on this dramatic change.
All he was aware of at that moment was now he facing a giant filled with a furious rage, that will not go down by any means.
"I am not fat! I'M CHUBBY!" yelled Choji swinging his leg at his opponent in an outrage.
The speed and the mass of Choji leg was far to ginormous for Kiba to avoid, forcing him to endure the pain that being flung to the wall creates.
"Dang-get!" spoke Kiba in pain as he opened eyes eyes, and try to stand upon the floor.
"I am not FAT!" yelled Choji as he thrust his foot to the ground, with full intention of crushing his opponent under the weight of his body
Seeing that he would not survive the next attack, Kiba did the only thing he could consumed a pill that took away his humanity, and enhance his beast like quality that comes with the pill.
Once the beast inside the boy awaken he was no longer scared of his opponent, and he would no longer give him the privilege of showing his weakness.
So instead of fleeing like a rodent from the trap, he stayed and face what he had riot!
When the foot press down on Kiba's body, Kiba's responded the only way he knew how, by taunting his opponent while slowly lifting the weight from his body.
"You do not have what it takes to end me. All you are is a big...big...FATSO!" spoke Kiba taunting his opponent, as he toss the large giant off of him.
Seeing his opportunity Kiba jumped onto Choji and began to slash his face apart.
He would have continued until his foe was permanently disfigured, but the voice of his friend echoed through his head, stopping his beast like rampage and caused him to look behind his body in curiosity.
Seeing his dear little puppy angry towards him, widen Kiba's eyes to what he was doing.
"Akamaru" spoke Kiba trying to speak to his friend
But before he could make it to Akamaru to apologize, he was captured in the clutches of his opponent and lifted up into the air, where he stared into the rage filled eyes of the giant.
"I am going to end you" yelled Choji as he stared at Kiba, helpless in the palm of his hand waiting for his end!
