Sorry for the absence, I've been on a small writers-block. I've also noticed that this story is going at a slower pace than I thought it would, I'm gonna make this up to you guys. Would rather have two chapters put into one chapter, or keep it like it is? I can do whatever you guys want. So, without any further interruptions, here you go! Enjoy!
"You're the reason all this is happening" Matthew shouted, lunging himself at the ghost. The teen fell to the ground, unable to leave a scratch on the master. The snow had slowed to a steady downfall, leaving specks of the unique designs in his shaggy hair.
"You are very impatient, I am starting to doubt my sons decision." The master spat in disgust, as he eyed Matthew. After being alive for almost 100 years, The First Spinjitzu Master had learned that being honest was better than lying. Even if it meant being brutally honest.
"Look, I don't know what your problem is, but you're going to tell me what's going to happen in this upcoming battle." Matthew said with anger and rage, while pointing an accusing finger at the elder. All was calm until Matthew heard Olivers truck in the distance - on his way to bring his sister home. The First Spinjitzu Master now realized that his time had been abruptly cut short.
Rubbing his ghostly pale temples, the master sighed. "There is no certain outcome of this battle. Anything can happen, depending on your actions as the Golden Master, that will determine the outcome. Destiny has yet, to shape you and your sisters future completely, but what my son told you earlier, was very much true. Your sisters future will see death, while yours see's a long, painful path. This isn't just a battle, it's a full-blow war; and you're stuck in the middle of it."
A small breeze blew through the backyard, and just like that, the creator of Ninjago was gone. No longer did gold streaks swirl around him, but regular white snow. Hearing Oilver's truck pull back into the driveway, Matthew remembered Sensei Wu's warning about his new , preforming his Spinjitzu Matthew appeared back in his school clothes, and ran into the house.
Jayden opened the front door just as Matthew closed the back door. Placing her binder and purse on the kitchen counter, she gave Matthew a glare. "Alright, there are no distractions, nobody around to interrupt us, because you are now going to tell me what you've been trying to say for the past month."
Her twin brother sighed in distress, he knew it was coming, but he never thought it'd be this soon. Crossing her arms, Jayden tapped her foot on the ground and wait impatiently for Matthews response. He hummed in agreement, before jumping onto the counter and sitting comfortably. Looking over into the large living room, Matthew avoided eye contact with his sister.
"Remember when I said I failed Mr. Jared's test? Well, I am barely passing his class with a D minus. Along with Trigonometry, and Economics. If I managed to keep straight D's, administration will look the other way and allow me to graduate. It's too close to the end of the year to turn the other way now. So, after graduation, after we leave high school forever, I'm leaving Ninjago City forever, more importantly, I'm leaving our family."
Jayden's throat constricted, her eyes burned, wanting got tears to roll down her cheeks, but none of that happened. Instead, she wanted to released the opposite of sadness, anger, but before she could Matthew spoke up again.
"I know what you're going to say, you're gonna say that by running away, I'll leave all my responsibilities behind as the Green Ninja, but you're wrong. Instead, I'm going straight for the village of the Demi-Gods, and finding out as much as I can."
After she was sure that Matthew was finished, Jayden snapped, "Do you really think this is a game? Some sick-twisted game that you can win all by yourself?! You saw what they can do to us, they're brutal killing machine, that care about nothing but putting the world into chaos."
"Sensei believes that-" Jayden cut her brother off before he could finish his sentence.
"Sensei knows about this?! What about mom and dad?! We are a family Matthew, and families stick together no matter what! What if you get captured and nobodies there to save you? You can die and we would never know!" Matthew finally looked up at his sister, and what he saw shocked him. Tears ran freely down Jayden's reddened cheeks, it had been years since he saw Jayden cry. Even as kids it was rare for the brunette to show he emotions freely, as she would usually wait until she was behind a closed door.
"Whoah, Jayden," Matthew jumped off the counter and held out his hands in a reassuring manner, "It's not that big of a deal, I'm going to be fine, and I won't be leaving until after graduation in a few months."
"That's not the point Matthew! We've been a team since the day we found out about our powers, we've sacrificed everything for Ninjago, and now you want to leave it all behind? You're being selfish, you're turning your back on people."
Matthew stared at his sister like she had three heads, "Turning my back on people? Are you crazy? By doing this I'm not only helping people I'm doing my job! Maybe I want to do it alone, because, I want to work by myself for once. Feel what it's like to be independent."
Before anything else could be said, the phone started ringing, reaching over to answer it, Jaydens facial expression never changed, until the person on the other line spoke. "We'll be right there."
"What happened?" Running to the garage, Jayden opened the dragons keep. The Elemental Dragon roared with excitement, and rubbed its muzzle on our faces. "Yomogita is the biggest food district in all of Ninjago, ninety-five percent of our food comes from the town."
Now in the air, Jayden directed our dragon to the east, "Okay, what's going on there?"
"It's been burned to the ground, Uncle Zane believes it was the Demi-Gods. But more importantly, there's nothing left, the crops and the homes have been burned and all the livestock was killed during the panic."
Silence surrounded us, making the ride to Yomogita awkward until Matthew spoke up. "Can you not tell mom and dad about me leaving? I want to tell them on my own when the time is right." Jaydens lips pressed together in a thin line, she quietly nodded, keeping her gaze forward.
The ride to the town was a short one, but when then arrived, they wished the ride was longer. Though there were no dead bodies in the streets like the attack in Jamanakai Village, Yomogita was just as devastating. People sat in the rumble of their homes, children called out for their parents, not knowing that they were now orphans.
"Jayden, Matthew! We have a problem." Kai motioned for the twins to follow him, they made their way to a river. There the other ninja stood examining the water. "What's wrong?"
"The water's contaminated, this river leads to a spring about twenty miles from here. This is Ninjagos water supply. If the chemicals are not removed from the water before it runs through the pipes of Ninjago, there's going to be a epidemic."
The water was a pale brown, though it looked drinkable, it contained deadly poisons. "During the panic, the villagers attempted to protect the crops that were already picked. In the carts that they used to haul them were the pesticides they use to help the crops grow. Some how the carts were flipped into the river."
"The Demi-Gods are going to pay for this." Matthew clenched his fists, gritting his teeth, he looked into the forest around them. Across the river stood one of the clocked figures. Laughing, he spoke, "Demi-Gods? Maybe we were that weak so many years ago, but now we're more powerful than the God who created us. We're Gods, we are the Kamigami, don't forget it."
"Why are you doing this?!" Jayden stepped closer to the river, yelling at the cloaked figure. "We're only following the prophecy that our ancestors wrote. We want our perfect world to become a reality." Instead of instantly vanishing, the hooded Kamigami walked back into the forest and never looked back.
"Alright, we need to stop all of Ninjago's water supply from being-" Cole was cut off by, Zane, who had his arm casually placed in the river.
"The river currents speed has changed drastically, there's no way that we can reach Ninjago City before all the water supply is polluted. It is like the Kamigami that was here used their powers to speed up the river."
All staring at Zane in disbelief, Jay spoke up in his usual frantic voice, "So, what's going to happen now? I mean, whoever drinks the water will probably get a upset stomach, right?"
"Possibly, but according to my calculations, this will cause a panic. Also, the chemicals are extremely toxic, and even though it helps grow the crops, there's a small percentage on the crop that when consumed will not harm our internal organs. Since the pesticides were placed directly in the water supply, it can cause kidney failure." Zane paused, "That's not even the worst part, I have talked to many people around here who have obtained an odd illness, I checked the air and found a spore. Here the illness has been known to kill within a week. They call it the Black Plaque."
"So what you're saying is if we let these people leave, and move into other parts of Ninjago, they can give it to somebody else?" Jayden stared down the stream towards the village in fear.
"Yes, but I did a scan on their bodies for the spore, and all of them came up negative; there's a point ninety-nine percent chance of the disease being spread, the odds are in our favor. But we should still warn the public about the disease."
Though the ninja were concerned about the disease and the contaminated water, they had bigger things on their plate. They all decided to deal with the problem when later, unknown to them they would later regret their decision.
