A/N: Short one, but just a transition. Please read and review. Enjoy!

Rick was still on his knees after a minute, with a glazed look in his eye that was giving us all concern. Daryl walked over to him, trying to snap him out of it, but I knew what it was like to be in that fog. Maggie handed Carl the baby and Hershel asked to see it. I wasn't even sure if it was a boy or girl yet.

"What are we going to feed it? We got anything a baby can eat?" Daryl asked, circling back over to us after realizing there was nothing to be done for Rick right now.

"The good news is she looks healthy." She. A baby girl. A healthy baby girl. "But she needs formula. And soon or she won't survive." No, no, no. She couldn't die.

Daryl echoed my thoughts exactly. "Nope. No way. Not her. We ain't losing nobody else. I'm going for a run."

"I'll back you up," Glenn said.

"I'll go too," Maggie added and my look was enough to let him know I was coming along.

"Okay, think where we're going," he told us and called Beth aside for a moment. From the way he looked at Carl I had to assume that was the topic of conversation. "You two get the fence. Too many pile up, we got ourselves a problem," he ordered, slipping into the role he was needed to fill.

"Rick!" Maggie called as he got up, grabbing the machete by his feet, and headed back inside the prison.

"Get the gate," Daryl said sadly, knowing we had to prioritize right now and Rick's breakdown could wait, the baby couldn't. "Come on, we're gonna lose the light."

As we jogged to catch up with Daryl, we brainstormed places we could go. I wasn't paying too much attention, focusing more on keeping my balance, still a little shaky.

"We saw signs for a shopping center just north of here," Glenn said, sounding hopeful.

"Yeah but there's too much debris on the road. A car will never make it through," Maggie countered.

"I can take one of you," Daryl said, jerking his head toward the motorcycle.

Maggie locked eyes with me. "I'll go," she said. I started to protest but saw the look in her eyes. She needed to do this. I nodded slightly.

"Yeah, I think that's a good idea," I told her and she gave me a grateful smile. Glenn walked over to speak with her and Daryl pulled me aside as well.

"Keep an eye on things around here. Rick is in bad shape. And have Hershel look at that," he said, pointing to my ear.

"Be careful out there," I told him, changing the subject quickly. He nodded fiercely. I knew nothing would stop him from getting back here with that formula. He climbed on his bike and Maggie got on behind him, leaving Glenn and me to watch as they pulled out.

"They'll be fine," I said out loud but was unsure if I was trying to convince Glenn or myself. I walked back over to the others and realized how small our group had become.

"Adeline," Hershel called and waved me over. I complied and pushed my hair out of the way so he could get a better look at the ear. "Dizziness? Hearing impairment?" He asked.

"Yeah," I replied.

"You ruptured your eardrum. It's not that serious but you'll be feeling the effects for a while. Depending on the severity, the hearing impairment could be permanent," he told me. I had assumed as much once it happened, but having it confirmed was something else. "You need to take it easy for a few days, stay away from any loud noises."

"Thanks, Hershel," I told him and walked over Glenn. "We need to dig graves for them, something to memorialize them," I told him and he quickly nodded in agreement.

"I'll get on it," he told me and I smiled in thanks.

"Get Oscar and Axel to help if you need to. I need to go find Rick," I told him, hating the idea of what I was about to have to do, but going to do it anyway.

…...

"Rick?" I called as I walked into the hallways of the prison, trying to figure out which way he would have gone. I was armed with a flashlight and a knife. However, it didn't seem as if I would need the latter since every walker I came across was already dead. So I began to follow the trail of bodies in the search for our leader.

"Rick?" I called again when I heard a noise coming off an adjacent hall. I turned down that hall and saw more bodies so I knew I was going in the right direction. Then I heard muffled grunts, so I started running in their direction. Once more I called out his name, just as I turned a corner. A hand reached out and grabbed me, making me scream and draw back my knife to attack.

"It's me," Rick grunted right before I plunged the blade in his skull. I took a deep breath and relaxed, yanking my arm away from him.

"I could have killed you," I huffed, heart still beating a little too quickly. He didn't say anything, just stared at the floor with that same glazed look as before. "Hey, what are you doing down here?" I asked him, trying to make him look at me.

"I-I had to find her," he said and I frowned with compassion.

"Look, you don't need to do this to yourself. Come back with me to the others. You have a new bab..." I started but he cut me off my pushing me into the wall, using his forearm to pin my neck to the wall, cutting off my air supply. I clawed at his arms but he wouldn't let go. "Rick!" I croaked out, begging him with my eyes to stop. I almost couldn't even recognize him anymore. For a moment, I thought I would die here, then he moved his arm and I dropped to the floor, coughing and holding my neck.

"I'm s-s-sorry," he said, raising his hand as if to run it through his hair and then dropping it down again before pacing in a small circle and taking off down another hallway, leaving me alone.
