PHANTOM TAINT

The water was hot, hotter than was comfortable. The industrial-strength soap was strong—harsher against skin than was comfortable. Dean scrubbed at his arm—the arm now free of the Mark. Harder and harder he scrubbed, but it wasn't helping. He didn't think he'd ever feel clean—truly clean—again.
The skin beneath his hand turned pink then pinker still as he worked the soap faster. The pumice effect scraped the skin beneath raw.
"Dean," Sam's voice called from the bathroom doorway, "Dean, the Mark is gone. It's gone."
Dean paused. "How'd you know?"
"Even you don't normally take hour long showers."
