It's movie night and life is great.

They've just finished watching Frozen for the third time, and Lucy has stolen the blankets, but pfft, whatever 'cause Natsu's hogging the popcorn anyways.

Within the eleven months since Natsu's move, they've worked their way through, like, a bajillion movies, which sorta happens when you watch multiple movies nearly every Saturday for almost a year. Speaking of which…

"Natsu, it's almost the one year anniversary of the first day we met," says Lucy, blinking the dryness from her eyes. It kind of stings her eyelids, which is not a pleasant feeling at all. "It's in two weeks. We should celebrate with cake, and I think I have fancy wine stashed somewhere?"

Natsu wrinkles his nose and makes a kind of a whining noise. He stands up, which dislodges Happy from his lap. Disgruntled, Happy retaliates with a hiss and runs to Lucy with some sort of a tearful complaint. Lucy scratches him behind his ears absentmindedly.

"But, Luce, wine doesn't even taste good. It tastes like old grapes. We should drink beer instead!"

"No one likes beer," argues Lucy, shaking her head. "I don't even think you like beer."

Natsu pouts. "S'better than wine."

Lucy sets Happy aside and pushes herself up from the ground. "Yeah, well, if we have beer then we're going to have to eat ice-cream."

Neglected, Happy scratches at the couch and meows in protest.

Meanwhile, Natsu yells indignantly. "Luce, you know I don't eat ice-cream! It means I think the Ice Bastard has good taste!"

"But ice-cream is so good," Lucy responds, teasing more than anything else. She can't even bring herself to care much anymore; they've had this argument too many times already. Happy, seeing that scratching the couch isn't pulling a good response, launches himself at Natsu.

Natsu catches Happy easily, barely flinching as Happy attempts to claw at his arms.

"Don't go to the dark side, Lucyyyy," whines Natsu, fending off Happy.

"Ice-cream isn't the dark side," Lucy informs Nastu, crossing her arms. "If anything, you're on the dark side."

Natsu holds Happy aloft. "Luce's gone crazy," he says to the cat. Finally acknowledged, Happy stops hissing and purrs in agreement before squirming out of Natsu's hands and darting off.

"What?" splutters Lucy. "Stupid cat! Whose side are you on?" Happy meows ambiguously, shrouded in shadows, as Lucy continues, "You're the crazy one, Natsu! All the hair dye must've gone to your brain."

"Hey! My hair is all-natural," protests Natsu.

"Yeah, right," says Lucy, laughing evilly. (Actually, she's pretty sure Natsu's hair is natural – she's raided his apartment in search of hair dye before. Maybe she just hasn't looked in all the right places?... which is pretty unlikely considering Natsu basically just has a toothbrush and bar soap.)

"Yeah, well, I'm moving away soon, anyways," blurts Natsu.

"Yeah, right, again," laughs Lucy.

But Natsu doesn't respond.

In fact, he's not even looking at her.

A beat of silence passes, before Lucy finally breaks it with a soft, "Natsu? You were joking, right?"

She waits for him to yell "Hahahaha, got you, Luce!" and giggle like a little girl, but everything's just silent. In the background, Demi Lovato sings "Let it Go" to the Frozen end credits. A lump forms in Lucy's throat.

"Actually, I… uh… I'm moving back to where I used to live," mumbles Natsu, fumbling for the TV remote. "In a week."

"You… we only have a week left?" asks Lucy, her voice soft.

Natsu turns off the TV, and the music stops. "Yeah. I'm sorry, Luce," he says. "I should've told you earlier."

Lucy laughs hollowly. "Well, I guess we won't be having ice-cream for our one year anniversary, huh?"

"I guess not."

Natsu fidgets, not meeting her eyes.

"Well, that sucks," says Lucy, putting on a smile and wiping her eyes (no, she wasn't crying), "Let's make the best of the next week, yeah?"

Finally, Natsu looks at her, assessing her face with a stony expression. Then, a smile slowly spreads across his face, too. He flashes her a thumbs-up.

"Yeah! And, uh…" Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, Natsu offers her a small grin. "Can you help me pack?"

Lucy looks across his ruined apartment, clothes and pictures and trinkets everywhere. "Natsu," she whines.

Natsu beams. "I'll take that as a yes?"

He's gone, and it's strange.

In fact, it's a Saturday. She doesn't know what to do anymore, actually. She has too much time on her hands, now that she's not watching movies with Natsu.

Her clock ticks, and she finally decides to work. She hadn't been very productive since Natsu moved in, anyways.

It's their anniversary.

Lucy sits at her dinner table and toasts a glass of wine to no one in particular.

(There's no ice-cream on the table.)
