How does magic even work chapter 11

Naruko panted heavily as she ran as fast as she could through the maze like corridors of the castle. She knew where she wanted to go, but had no idea how to get there. Therefore she decided that she would get there eventually if she just ran in the general direction of her destination. That was not working out too well since she had so far run into three dead ends and several patrolling soldiers.

``GOD DAMNIT WHERE ARE THEY!?´´ she shouted loudly as she came to a stop in a crossing of several corridors.

``were right here´´ came Charles voice from right beside her. Naruko jumped and turned to the cat who had spoken. Next to it stood Lucy and the blue cat, whatever it's name was.

``ah...´´ Naruko stood out of breath for a second and then regained her usual attitude. ``y-yeaah! Finally found you guys! Now what are we going to do?´´

the small white cat shook her head ``Naruko do not be so horribly loud it will be troublesome if we get caught again.´´ she paused and Naruko scratched the back of head and laughed nervously ``for now we should continue heading to the prison tower, we will most likely find Natsu and Wendy there.´´

Naruko suddenly looked like she had been punched in the gut ``they got Wendy? Oh my god! What if they're doing something to her!´´ Naruko continued shouting, lost in her delusions.

Charle sighed as Naruko held her head in her hands and turned to Lucy ``can you just push her along? We have no time to stand here like idiots.´´

Lucy did as she was asked and awkwardly led the now muttering woman along the way that might be right. ``and they might be doing this and that... wait maybe that would be a little nice... guhe..hehehe... NO! T-t-they're probably doing horrible stuff..´´ Lucy shuddered at the disgusting things she was hearing, and for a second she wondered if Naruto had perverted tendencies as well.

Zabuza heaved his giant cleaver up and rested it on his shoulder as he looked in the direction where the imposter boy had ran. With a sigh he began pursuing the boy, this was not going to be as fun as he had hoped. The kid had actually managed to guard against his first blow, which was rare, most of his opponents died before they had a chance to Finish their introduction.

So yes, he had gotten his hopes up, that this would be a stimulating little fight. But the kid, Nadare or whatever he had called himself turned out to be a coward like most he had fought. After just a few swings the boy was shaking and sweating. Another few swings and the boy fell on his ass and looked like he was about to piss himself.

And say what you will but Zabuza had a weak spot for kids, indeed, he felt just a little pity as he shifted to swipe the kids head off. Then the kid suddenly swung one of the little butter knives he had been using, and somehow that had put a thin cut across his chest. As Zabuza stood stunned by the light throbbing pain in his chest the kid ran.

What an incredibly dumb moment that had been, the first enemy to put a wound on him in six years was a freaking exhausted brat with a dumb name.

Zabuza cast those thoughts aside as he turned a corner and spotted the brat, Nanado, running down the corridor towards what appeared to be an open exit out of the castle. That would not do, he had to catch the kid before he could get either help or a good place to hide.

He could only watch as the kid disappeared out of the open arching doorway, and speed up a little to make sure he wouldn't get away. However he had to stop for a second when he came out and was blinded by the strong sunlight. When his eyes had adjusted he opened them and saw where he was, a massive flat area with about a dozen or two of the massive creatures that the imperial guards rode around on.

Zabuza almost growled when he looked around and found no trace of the kid. After a moment of considering his options he decided to go with the good ol' throw logical thought to the curb strategy.

``SANADA! DONT HIDE YOU DUMB KID! GET OUT HERE AND LET ME KILL YOU!´´

Naruto sat wide eyed behind a legion and listened to the howl of the crazed assassin, or maybe monster would fit the description better? He quickly shook those thoughts out of his head and went back to what he had been doing. Namely trying to wake Buster up so he could escape with the beast.

That was not going too well for him however as the legion seemed to be a heavy sleeper. Lightly clapping it's head was doing little to rouse the beast from it's sleep but Naruto was afraid to do anymore than that for fear of Zabuza hearing him. Wait did Zabuza just call him Sanada?

Naruto listened to the screams of the assassin and slowly peeked out from his hiding place by the legion. He was in luck, Zabuza was walking in the opposite direction of where he was hiding right now. He quickly slipped back and took a good look at the side of the legions head, since the beast was pitch black it was hard to distinguish any features even up close, but he found the creatures eye and with some effort managed to force it open.

As he looked into the white eye Naruto spoke as loudly as he dared too ``Buster... Bus-... Wake uP! WakE. UP.´´ he continued prompting the beast to stop sleeping for a while every so often making sure Zabuza had not noticed him yet.

After a few more rounds of saying wake up and shifting to make sure he was not discovered he looked back to the legions eye and felt that something was different. The was completely white, no color or pupils, but somehow he felt like it was focused on him now. Naruto stood still for a moment and only moved again when Buster raised his head slightly.

Naruto, as quickly as he could climbed up onto the legions head, the beast slowly stood up and tried to look at the little human that had come to sit on top of him. Zabuza who had been searching around another of the legions, turned around as he heard the Buster get up, and on top of the monster he saw Naruto.

Naruto's eyes met Zabuzas and the boy frantically started yelling to Buster ``go! Buster FLY! RUN! GOOOO!´´ his shouting grew louder as the assassin rushed towards them. ``FLYYYY!´´ Naruto suddenly felt his body press harshly down on the legion, the beast had simply jumped into the air, but with enough power to easily get tens of meters into the air.

When the beast started flapping it's wings, Naruto had to grip the thick skin to make sure he wouldn't fall of. Squinting from the whipping winds around him Naruto tentatively looked around him. They had already gotten pretty far up in the air and were now circling around the castle they had been in not too long ago. He sighed deeply and relaxed as much as he dared to, he was still riding a flying monster.

`what now?´ he thought to himself as he gazed on the multiple towers that stuck out of the castle. He did not have a lot of options, he could land and try to make his way to the king, but then again Zabuza was down there. Or maybe he could try to find the kings throne room from up here and then try to jump down to it directly.

``GWOOOOOAOAAAAAAAAAAAAA!´´

Naruto was shaken from his thought's as Buster suddenly roared loudly, it was almost enough to make him fall off. He desperately held on as the legion suddenly started twisting, like a dog shaking it's wet fur. It was like it was trying to shake him off. Or maybe, Naruto though as a chill spread through his body and he slowly turned to look back, Buster was trying to shake someone else off.

And just like Naruto thought there was someone else on Buster, standing uncaring of the unsteady footing was Zabuza, with his giant blade lodged deeply in busters back. ``you ready to fight me properly yet Rito!?´´ the mans voice almost faded in the wind but it reached Naruto, and even though they were in such a ridiculous situation Naruto responded ``WHO THE HELL IS RITO?!´´

Zabuza began to respond but was interrupted by Buster who roared in pain once more. When the beast was done he tried again ``i cant be bothered to remember your name kid, you'll be dead in a few minutes anyways!´´ the man harshly ripped his sword out the beasts back and jumped forward a few steps, then once again stabbed it into the beast to make sure he wouldn't fall.

Buster roared in pain and Naruto ground his teeth together in anger, and pulled his twin short swords out. As he held the weapons he was again reminded of what they could do, hold the button on the hilt and swing to create a cutting air wave. He looked over to Zabuza and tried sending a slice his way with the sword in his right hand.

The air sickle dissipated a few meters in front of Zabuza, and Naruto groaned to himself, now he either had to let Zabuza get closer, which was really bad, or HE had to get closer to Zabuza, and that would really suck too.

Zabuza once again jumped forward and jammed his sword down, and as Buster roared Naruto made his choice. Knees bent and one hand holding on to the legions back Naruto inched forward, slowly getting closer to each other. Finally Naruto felt confident that he was close enough and once again swung his right hand sword, the barely visible cutting wind flew forward and hit Zabuza across his left arm.

Zabuza stilled for a moment and slowly flexed his arm, the wound was not deep enough to hinder his arms movements. The man made eye contact with Naruto and slowly pulled his sword up and held it in front of himself as a shield, then he slowly started making his way forward again, closing the distance between them.

A quick attack from Naruto did nothing to the shielded assassin, this made things complicated. He was no match for the man in close combat, but up here there was no other way to run. Zabuza was already getting close enough to reach him if he swung his sword, but he continued inching closer.

In desperation Naruto swung his right sword as hard as he could, only for it to meet Zabuzas blade and simply stop there. Zabuza suddenly reached out with his left hand and caught Naruto's wrist, and then twisted it, forcing him to drop the blade, he watched helplessly as it fell out of sight. Zabuza slowly raised his sword up, all the while Naruto blindly grasped for the other blade he had on him.

Just as Zabuza was about to cleave Naruto down the middle, the legion they were standing on seemed to disappear. Buster who had taken several deep stab wounds was no longer able to fly, and was now falling, and by extension so was Naruto and Zabuza.

Buster's wings suddenly caught air again, and his fall became a bit less vertical, Zabuza and Naruto impacted on it's back, their fight temporarily forgotten in the situation they were now in.

Naruto laid down flat on Buster and held on as best as he could, Zabuza however did the complete opposite, he jumped off and dug his sword into a wall to stop his decent. Naruto barely registered what the man had done, since he was too busy worring about the wall that they were about to crash into.

With a resounding bang and roar Buster crashed straight through the wall into the hallways and rooms inside. Naruto only barely avoided turning into a pile of meat, when he fell of buster and few into a set of bookcases in the room they had landed in.

There were a multitude of people guards and scholars alike who screamed and ran for cover when a legion suddenly barreled into the room. One of the guards noticed Naruto's orange clad form and shakily Walked over, glancing at the dying beast he had ridden in on. ``y-you... are captain Naruto right?´´

Naruto blinked at the guard for a few seconds and then slowly forced himself to get up despite the pain in his body. ``yes.. I am.´´ he grabbed the guards arm to keep himself steady as he glanced over at Buster. The legion was no longer breathing, pain filled his chest as he realized the beast was dead.

``captain.. what happened?´´

Naruto looked at the guard and slowly collected his thoughts, he had to get to the king, for now that was the safest place for him to be. And then he could have soldiers sent out to look for Zabuza, yeah that would be a good course of action.

``cap-´´ ``you! Take me to the king, I was attacked by a strong swordsman, he's the one that did this to the legion. I lost track of him when we crashed, I don't know what he is after so it would be best to go to the king.

``y-YES SIR!´´

As they left, the guard supporting Naruto, one of the scholars in the room asked another ``what do we do about this?´´ as he pointed to the dead legion.

``hey Happy, can you take Naruko for a moment´´

``..no´´

``why not?~´´

``she's being really creepy, I don't want to touch her.´´

Just like Happy said Naruko had been acting extremely creepy for the last twenty or so minutes, even now she was drooling and giggling at random intervals.

``Lucy please don't start complaining now, were almost there.´´ Charle said as she led the small group down a flight of stairs.

Just as they reached the bottom of the stairs Naruko suddenly tensed up, and then in a twisting movement pushed Lucy to one side of the corridor they were in and she herself jumped to the other. And in the space they had just stood in a spear with a strangely shaped tip impacted.

They looked to where the spear had come from and saw Erza, and while the others gaped at her Naruko stood up and scoffed. ``what kind of idiot just throws a weapon like this?´´ she went to grab it but just before her finger could reach it, it began glowing. ``huh?´´ was the last thing Naruko had time to say before being swallowed by and explosion.

So yeah I'm back... well kind of. I'm just going to lay it on you, I don't like writing this arc. It's just that I feel really limited since I never gave Naruto that convenient little magic enabling pill a few chapters ago.

But anyways ill be continuing this story whenever I feel like it. So stay tuned!.. or not... I'm not your dad, I don't make the damn rules!
