Notes: I do apologize for taking so friggin long to get this posted, and for it probably not being the ending everyone's expecting. I am toying with a sequel. I do not guarantee when I'll get posting it though. I have so many whips to clear out by finishing them.

Logan's leg bounced as he sat in the hotel chair waiting for his phone to ring with news. Any news. He watched as James paced at the foot of a bed, while Katie, both, received and gave comfort to her mother. He listened half-heartedly as Gustavo talked to the tour promoter about the developments in Kendall's case. He knew the large man would never admit it, but he cared very much for each of them. Maybe not as deep as love in a fatherly fashion, but close to the annoying, energetic little brothers he never knew he wanted kind of love.

The teen again willed his phone to ring. He could be patient. With adopted brothers like Kendall, Carlos, and James it was learned quickly. But he still hated waiting. Waiting was hard enough when he knew all the facts, or at least how bad the damage was; but when he didn't even know how bad it was, waiting was harder. He bounced his leg harder in growing frustration.

He was so engrossed in his thoughts of waiting and his growing frustration that he nearly missed the sudden vibrations coming from the phone held tightly in his fist. Faster than his conscious brain recognized his fingers tapped the screen to answer and put it to his ear.

"Hello," he said, still running on autopilot. "Carlos?...Kendall?! How are you? What happened? Where are you? Can…."

"Kendall?" James said, taking the phone from Logan before he could ask their friend one more question. "Good to hear your voice, man. ….When can we see you? …uh-huh….yeah….that's awesome! We'll meet you and Carlos there. ….Within the hour? ….yeah, we will be there. Just try to stop any of us." Mindful of the ear surrounding him, James lowered his voice and stepped away from the egger group of happy family. "Are you…are you all right?...Good," he said with a nod Kendall couldn't see. "How's Carlos?...Good." He smiled at Kendall's words. "We'll see you both soon."

Ending the call, James turned to face the group of happily chatting people he called family. For the first time in hours smiles lit everyone's face and the thick tension was released from the air. Kendall was found and safe. They would be able to sit with him, hug him, and talk with him within the half hour. For once in his short life James Diamond felt no need for his carefully controlled guise of aloof beauty; not that the people who mattered the most to him couldn't see straight through it anyway.

"Where is he?" Mrs. Knight asked, noticing he was off the phone and staring at them.

"They're getting him ready for transfer to the hospital just round the corner. We can get ready and head over in about fifteen minutes."

Five minutes later James and Logan found themselves pacing the hall outside the private waiting room, while everyone else waited inside. They had started out in the room with Mrs. Knight, Katie, Kelly, Gustavo and their tour promoter, but as the wait for their brothers' arrival grew the two could no longer contain their energy. Logan had done nothing but bounce his knee and watch the door for signs their childhood friend had arrived. James had bounced out of his seat at nearly every footfall outside the room. After the tenth time that'd happened, Kelly suggested they wait just outside the door where they could still be seen and heard, but not disturb Mrs. Knight at every sound in the hall.

"Shouldn't they be here by now?" James asked glancing around the hall from his spot against the wall for a clock. "I thought they'd be here by now."

"I think we were ten minutes early," Logan answered, also looking for a clock. "Always thought places like this would be more inviting and not so isolated feeling."

"I think that's the point, Logie," James said with a sigh, "to give families time alone to be together. Yeah, now that I say it…that's just weird."

They wanted to giggle at the fact that the uninviting waiting rooms meant for families to wait for news on loved ones was a place for families to be alone together was strange, but it felt wrong to make light of a room that so many had passed through and spent ungodly hours in hoping and praying for healing for their ill family member. They knew it was isolated to make the families feel separate from unwanted guests in the form of complete strangers hearing medical details and to just get away from the hubbub of the hospital itself. Suppressing their urge to giggle, the boys once again sought out the elusive clock.

"There you are," an almost familiar accented voice said, pulling the boys from their thoughts of clocks and isolated waiting rooms to the slim form of Penny entering the hall a few feet ahead of them. "The nurse gave nearly rubbish directions."

"Penny!" James and Logan said together.

"Is Kendall here?"

"Yes. We've been here for almost ten minutes, but I got lost coming to find you."

"Where's Carlos?"

"My dad insisted Carlos stay with Kendall so that he can keep an eye on them both. We're not sure who bought Kendall and Agent A got away, so we are Kendall's official secret protection."

"Can we see him?" James asked.

"Let's collect the others then head to Kendall's room, yeah?"

"Yeah," the boys said in unison.

Inside the room Carlos was curled up in as small a ball he could manage in a barely padded hospital chair beside Kendall's bed. On the bed, Kendall lay on his back, blanket pulled up to his waist, one hand at his side while the other rested across the center of his abdomen. Both boys had their eyes closed and appeared to be deeply sleeping. Relief washed over James and Logan as they took in the amount of machines Kendall was not attached to. Being careful to not wake their sleeping friends the teens entered the mostly silent room.
