As promised, here you are! Thank you for all the awesome reviews! Lucky for you guys, I might be too busy to post another chapter in two weeks since next Saturday is my 20th birthday( I'm getting old I know) so I might have to post the next chapter early... Or not... It depends on the amount of reviews I get on this chapter *hint hint*. As always, thank you for reading and enjoy!
Yelena hung up the phone with Phil and dropped her head into her hands. She hadn't gotten a good nights sleep since she left Randy two days ago. The last thing she needed today was for Punk to tell her that Chris was up to no good while she wasn't around. He had told her verbatim what he had said and truth be told, she was terrified. What if he was going to tell Randy about them? Or worse, what if he already had? She wasn't sure what she would be going back to work to. The fact that she could be walking into her own personal hell gave her uncontrollable anxiety.
She didn't have time to ponder on it much longer as Val walked back into the room, wearing a little black dress. Yelena had spent her last day at her sister's new house before she had to catch her flight around midnight. It was big and beautiful and everything that a girl could ever dream of. Five bedrooms, three and a half baths, a gourmet kitchen. They had a two car garage, a deck and a pool outback and a two bedroom pool house. Barbie's Dream House couldn't hold a candle to Valilisa's.
"Do I look okay?" she asked
Yelena mustered a smile "You look great." she said. The dress made her look more slender, not that Val needed it. She looked thinner than the last time she saw her. A little too thin. Come to think of it, she had noticed the seamstress had pinned Val's dress with a dozen pins in the back to hold it against her small frame.
"You've lost some weight." Yelena stated
"A few pounds. The stress of the wedding is finally catching up with me."
"Look who's getting too thin now." she teased
"You're one to talk. Will you do my makeup?" Val asked, sitting at her vanity
"Sure. I love your hair." she said, complimenting her sisters updo. Her dark brown locks were piled gracefully on top of her head, secured by a clip and a few fallen strands framed her face
"Thanks. Frederick likes when I wear my hair up."
Yelena put all her thoughts into glaming her sister up for her date tonight with Frederick. She could tell that Val was beyond excited
"He's taking me to a restaurant, although I told him we didn't have to go anywhere extravagant."
"That's nice." Yelena said as she curled brushed Val's eyelashes out with mascara "Done." she said
Val turned and looked in the mirror "Wow. You made me look like an entirely different person. Thanks."
"No problem." Yelena said
She watched as her sister checked the time "He should be here in fifteen minutes. Sorry I can't drop you off at the airport."
"It's okay Val. You go out and have a good time with Frederick. I'll be okay for a coupe of hours at home."
"Do you want me to call a pizza in before I leave?" Val asked "You can shower here and eat before you have to go."
"Sure." Yelena agreed. She had been eyeing Val's luxurious shower. It looked like it could rival Randy's
"Spinach, chicken, and mushroom?"
"You know me so well."
Val picked up her phone to call the order in, but it started ringing before she had a chance to complete the task "It's Frederick." she muttered, picking up "Hi hon. Are you close by?" she asked, her hazel eyes bright. She listened for a fee seconds and her shoulders visibly slumped "No,I understand. It okay, you have to work. I'll see you when you get home, I guess. Love you too. Bye." she hung up, tossing her phone on the bed
Yelena watched as her sister stepped out of her heels and kicked them aside "He canceled?" Yelena asked
Val nodded, yanking the clip from her hair.
Yelena felt bad "I'm sorry Val."
"Its okay. He had to work overtime at the office, its not his fault. Someone has to pay the bills." she said, giving her a sad smile as she went back into her closet. She returned seconds later in just her bra and underwear
"Mind if I grab a quick shower before you get in?"
"Of course." Yelena insisted.
Val wordlessly went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her.
Yelena picked up her sister's discarded heels, placing them back into the box and returned them to the massive walk in closet. She stared in awe at the neatness. Val's things were on one side, Frederick's on the other. Not a blouse nor tie was out of place. Every shoe was lined up perfectly, the hangers evenly spaced. She spied the dress Val had just taken off back on its respectable hanger. Yelena had a feeling this was not the first time Val had been stood up by her fiance by the way she quickly shed her clothes. She noticed an obvious gap in the boxes of shoes and slid the box in her hands in, turning out the lights as she went back into the master bedroom.
February 4, 2013 Atlanta, Georgia
She had never been so happy to get off a plane in her life the following morning. After two flights and three crying babies, she wanted to kiss the ground. All she wanted to do was check into her room and find Randy. She couldn't wait to see him. After grabbing her luggage from baggage claim, she sent him a text
Just landed. Be there soon.
xYelena
I'm headed to the arena to meet with Hunter and Steph. I'll be there in an hour.
xRandy
K. Love you
xYelena
Love you too
xRandy
Damn. She was a little disappointed that she would have to wait a bit longer to see him. She checked into their room and fell onto the bed with a tired groan. She had a whole hour to kill. She forced herself to leave the comfort of the soft bed and fluffy pillow, grabbing a change of clothes and dragged herself to the shower to wash that flight off.
...
She hadn't realized that she had fallen asleep until she heard the sound of keys sound from across the room. She opened her eyes and yawned, her vision a bit blurry as she glanced at her phone. She'd only been asleep for forty five minutes. Randy stood with his back to her. "Hey." she said sleepily
He turned and gave her a small smile "Sorry. I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn't wake you." he said, turning back to his bag
She sat up and stretched "It's okay." she assured him, getting up. Relief washed over her. She crossed the room and wrapped her arms around him. Standing on her tip toes, she kissed the nape of his neck. He craned his neck to kiss her and she sighed contently. It felt so good to be able to physically touch him. She wrapped her arms around his neck to turn him around and he obliged. She'd been scared to death about what might have happened while she was gone...
Which is why she immediately picked up on his hesitance to return her embrace
"You okay?" she asked
"Yeah. Just had a long meeting." he said, gently unwrapping her arms from around him "I'm gonna head back to the arena and get a workout in before the show. I'll let you rest."
She was off today and had hoped that they would spend some time together until he had to go to the arena. So much for that. "Oh." she said, crestfallen "Okay. I'll... See you later."
He grabbed his bag, placed a quick kiss on her forehead, and left She stared after him until the door clicked shut.
Her heart stung from his rejection. She felt like a complete idiot when she felt her eyes well up with tears and quickly brushed them away. What was wrong with her? She was overreacting. Maybe he was just in a mood.
She flopped down on the bed, running a hand through her hair "Get it together, Yelena." she said out loud.
He didn't know. He couldn't possibly know... Could he? No. Phil assured her that Chris was keeping his distance, but knowing Chris, he was still prowling. She brought her hand to her mouth, gnawing nervously on her already nubby nails, a nasty habit her mother would have been repulsed by. She'd bitten them down drastically in the past few days. Phil was right. He had told her to get her shit together because he wasn't going to be a part of this mess anymore and she couldn't blame him for not wanting anything to do with the situation. Hell, she didn't even want to be in it herself, so what was stopping her from coming clean and setting herself free? She was turning into a masochist.
With nothing to do, she went downstairs to the gym herself to get her mind off of her worries. She was damp with sweat, but her workout did nothing to distract her so she was glad when Rosa asked her to come to the arena. She sat cross legged in between the Latina and Alicia on one of the storage crates, eating a box of Lemonheads, Rosa gnawing on Twizzlers as they watched Randy's match on one of the monitors against Wade. She didn't bother alerting him that she was there, deciding to give him some space after the way he had brushed her off earlier.
Randy picked up the win via a vicious looking RKO to the Brit, making Alicia wince.
"Who pissed in his cornflakes?" Alicia asked around the blue Sour Punch Straw in her mouth
"He did seem a little snappy with everyone today. You holdin' out again?" Rosa asked the photographer
"No... He seemed a bit off earlier today too..."
Alicia hopped off the crate, announcing that she was going to check on Wade. When she was a safe distance away, Rosa turned her eyes back to the brunette
"Everything okay?" she asked
"I don't know... He was just so... Distant and short with me today. I've been gone for three days and he wouldn't even..." Yelena trailed off
"Do you think he knows? About..." Rosa nodded her head towards the monitor, where they were promoting the next match: Chris Jericho vs CM Punk.
Great. Just great.
"I don't know. Phil said that Chris didn't say anything. Besides, if he did know, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't acting how he is now. I've seen Randy's temper. He makes rabid wolves look tamed."
The Usos walked by, dressed in their ring gear for their dark match and the girls paused the conversation to wave hello
"I don't know what I'm doing." Yelena sighed, palming her face
"You have to tell him Yelena." Rosa said
"I know." Yelena groaned
"Then what the hell are you waiting for?" Rosa asked
"I'll tell him when the time is right."
"Newsflash chica. When the time was right, you still didn't say shit and the right moment might not ever come again. If you keep fucking around, you're going to lose him."
Yelena couldn't argue with her friend because she was right. She had known Rosa long enough to know that she wasn't going to sugarcoat anything with her. She was going to give her the hard dose of tough love that she need to get her ass in gear.
"I'll tell him. I swear." she promised
"Tell who what?" Dean's voice came from behind her
Seth and Roman flanked him, decked out in their signature black vests.
Yelena was glad to see them, abruptly ending their conversation
"None of your damn business Ambrose." Rosa said, smacking his bare arm with a Twizzler
He rubbed the spot and frowned at the Diva "Abusive bitch." he muttered, snatching the candy away and popped it in between his teeth
"You want to share those." Roman stated, nudging the photographer's arm, eyeing her box of candy.
Yelena playfully pondered on it before passing the box to the big Samoan.
"You shouldn't have done that." Seth sniggered
"Why?" Yelena asked
Roman placed the box to his mouth and tipped his head back emptying most of the contents before handing the box back.
Yelena shook the almost empty box, a few pieces of candy rattling "Thanks." she said
Roman grinned, his jaws working on breaking down the mass of sweet and sour goodness in his mouth
"We need to get a sign that reads 'Don't Feed the Samoan' on it." Dean joked
"I hope you learned your lesson." Seth snorted
"Yeah, definitely won't be feeding you anymore." Yelena told the big man
"Who can say no to this face?" Roman asked, flashing a wicked smile
Yelena and Rosa could help but swoon, making both Seth and Dean roll their eyes.
Seth reached for the box "I'm sure you don't want the rest of that, I'll just-"
Yelena put the box behind her back "Only if you catch them."
"Fine." Seth agreed, taking a few steps back until his back hit the wall across from them
Yelena shook the rest of the candy into her hand "Ready?"
"Bring it."
She tossed one and he caught it smoothly. She tossed another and he caught it with ease.
"Lightning round!" she announced. She tossed three and he caught them, almost choking on the last one.
"That all you got?" he asked
Yelena smirked "Ready?"
He braced his hands on his knees and nodded
She released the handful and laughed as it caught him off guard, some smacking him in the face, the rest scattering on the concrete floor
"Oh that's funny you little cheater?" the two toned haired man asked, coming at her
She didn't have time to dodge him, she was laughing so hard. He tickled her mercilessly
"Hey." a voice said over Seth's shoulder
He stopped and she saw that it was Randy
"Hey man." Seth greeted
Randy only nodded, his blue eyes darted to the rookie's hands on his girlfriend
"Ambrose. Reigns." he greeted the others. He rolled his eyes at Rosa and she returned the gesture
The guys said hello
"You didn't tell me you were here." he said to Yelena
"Yeah, I rode over with Rosa." she said, scooting to the edge of the crate.
All eyes were on them, making her feel weird
"I'm going out with the guys after the show. Think you can give her a ride back to the hotel?" he asked the Latina
"Sure."
"Good. I'll see you later." he said, leaning over to kiss her.
She didn't miss the way he gave her a peck on the lips for good measure after he broke away, his gaze flickering over at Seth before he walked away.
Dean muttered something under his breath that made Roman laugh and Seth shove him
"Well, we gotta bail." Dean announced
"Later." Yelena said
The guys left and Rosa turned to her "I'm starved, want to go raid catering?"
Yelena shrugged. She wanted nothing more than to be with Randy right now, but he obviously didn't want the same.
Rosa picked up on her friend's change in mood and threw an arm around her shoulder "So he's a little crabby. Men are just moody assholes sometimes. Don't sweat it." she said, leading her towards catering "C'mon. Lets go stuff our faces and watch Phil beat the shit out of Chris."
Yelena gave her a soft smile. Watching Phil kick Chris's ass might soften the ache in her chest "Okay."
After the show, the girls left the arena. Yelena had forgotten her purse in catering and they ended up having to backtrack. Luckily she found it right where she left it. When they finally made it to the hotel, Rosa invited her to her room so she wouldn't be alone until Randy came back, but she declined. Watching Phil tear Chris limb from limb hadn't satisfied her at all, only rewarding her with a migraine. All she wanted was a hot shower and to go to bed. She said goodnight and got off the elevator on her floor
Digging through her purse, she couldn't find her key
"What the?" she muttered, kneeling down on the floor, dumping everything out on the floor. She could have sworn she'd put her key in the small zip piece inside her purse. It wasn't there. She pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to keep the throbbing in her head at bay as she thought of what could of possibly happen to her room key. She was so caught up in stuffing everything back into her bag that she didn't hear the door across the hall behind her open
"Looking for something sweetheart?"
Yelena froze, closing her eyes at the sound of Chris's voice. She finished throwing all of her crap back in her purse before standing, turning to him with hard eyes.
He stood leaning against his door, shirtless, his jeans riding low on his hips. His lips were turned up in a smirk. He folded his arms across his broad chest. She could tell he was clutching something in his right hand
"Give it to me." she demanded, cutting straight to the chase
"Give you what?" he said mockingly
"Give me my damn room key." she spat, crossing the short distance between them, reaching for her key
He held it out of reach and she stretched to grab it again and he wrapped an arm around her waist. She stepped back like he was on fire.
"Chris." she said as steadily as he anger would let her. Her head was threatening to explode and she could feel angry tears burning her eyes. "I'm too exhausted to do this with you. All I want to do is go to bed. If you won't give it to me, I'll go downstairs and get another one." she said, turning to leave. She couldn't deal with shit. Not tonight.
"Having trouble sleeping? It couldn't possibly be on my accord, could it?" he asked
She turned back and shot him a murderous glare, but thanked her lucky stars when he held out her room key to her.
She approached him, hesitantly reaching for the card
"You should really be careful where you leave your belongings." he told her, his voice filled with false concern.
She said nothing, expecting him to draw back, but when her fingers caressed it, he released it instantly.
"Where's Randy tonight?" he asked, following her to her door "If he knew any better, he wouldn't have left you alone with us on the same floor."
"Go to hell Jericho." she told him, hating the way her hands were trembling, making it hard for her to get the key in. She jumped when she felt his hands find her waist from behind. He buried his nose in her hair and she was repulsed when he inhaled deeply.
*Chris's P.O.V*
Her hair smelled exactly like he remembered, the scent of strawberries invading his senses
"You're shaking. Are you afraid?" he asked
"Yes." she answered, surprising him
"And why is that?" he whispered in her ear
"Because I know what you're capable of Chris." she whispered, trying to push him away
Chris let out a short laugh and forcefully turned her around, pressing her back against the door. She shoved at his chest, but he caught her hands, slamming them above her head. He wasn't hurting her, but she struggled against him frantically
"Let go of me!"
"Shhhhh." he said "You wouldn't want someone to see us in such a compromising position."
He wasn't surprised when she stopped fighting. Tears filled her beautiful green eyes as he pressed himself against her and for a second, he saw her the way he did in the very beginning. The scared little mouse she once was. That self conscious, fragile woman was still there no matter how hard she tried to hide it. And he had just dug her up from the dead
*Yelena's P.O.V*
"Chris... Please..."
God she felt so helpless and pathetic for begging. She could feel him through his jeans. She was having a flashback. The night of the No Way Out pay-per-view, when he had choked her in the closet all that long time ago.
"You have no idea what I'm capable of Sweetheart." he said, placing a kiss on her neck
She turned her face away when he tried to kiss her and he opted to kissing her forehead. It felt nothing like the loving kiss Randy gave her. It made her feel dirty, ashamed.
"Sweet dreams Yelena." he said, releasing her
She didn't look back as she fumbled with her key and finally got the door open, slamming it behind her. She clicked the deadbolt firmly into place and flipped the latch over the very top lock. Her breath came out raggedly, her heart beating fast. She tried desperately to stop the tears from flowing, but they wouldn't until she was sobbing like a child against the door.
There was no way in hell she was getting any sleep tonight.
Randy stripped down to his boxers and slowly climbed into bed beside Yelena's sleeping form. He slipped a cautious arm around her waist and she bolted upright in bed
"Its me." he told her gently
"You scared me." she said
He pulled her back down and folded her into his arms. She placed a hand against his cheek and guided his lips to hers in the dark.
"I'm sorry I've been acting like a dick today. My meeting with Hunter and Stephanie didn't go exactly how I thought it would. I'm not getting the push."
She nuzzled her nose "Its okay. You know how these things work. You have to be patient. Your time will come."
He laid another kiss on her. When they broke away, she turned, pressing her back against him. She intertwined their fingers. He felt at ease when the scent of her shampoo met his nose and closed his eyes.
"I love you." he heard her say
"I love you too. Get some sleep, we have a long flight in the morning."
She closed her eyes but she didn't sleep.
It was only when she heard his breathing even out with sleep did the tears start. She tried her best to keep her sniffling quite. The fingers of her free hand found the sunflower pendant of her necklace, twisting it. Chris had really gotten to her tonight, which showed her that somehow, he still had the power to break her
And so began the insomnia
Chris and his never ending mind games. How much more can Yelena take before she snaps? I hope you enjoyed. LEAVE ME LOVELY REVIEWS!
