OMG I've been trying to get this posted for weeks! So sorry this is late. Work is kicking my ass and my Office Mobile app that I write all of my work on for this story is giving me problems, so the chapters might be a little backed up. Okay, let me warn you. This chapter is a long one! Pretty much two chapters in one so it is very sectioned off like the Thanksgiving chapter was. Enjoy!
RAW April 15, 2013 Greenville, SC *Three Weeks Later*
Yelena grinned at the clip of people around the world "Fandangoing". The fact that the suits had let Chris put the Superstar over at WrestleMania was beyond her, but she could help but couldn't help but crack up at him trying to teach the crowd to pronounce his name correctly and then telling them to go Fandango themselves. She and AJ were in a fit of laughter that could not be stopped and the fact that AJ was pretty much in tears didn't help
She was in a good mood, as everyone seemed to be pointing out. She had almost forgotten what it was like, being cheery and chipper. If only she could tell them why.
Chris walked by, chatting with Wade and didn't miss the wink he shot her while the Englishman wasn't paying attention.
She sent him a small smile back, ducking her head so AJ wouldn't notice the blush staining her cheeks. AJ told her that she had to go find Dolph for his match and left.
It had been a good long three weeks that had brought her back to her normal self and yes, Chris Jericho had been the cause of it.
Go figure.
It was the morning after. They'd woken up, tangled in the sheets and each other, her head on his chest, his arms around her that she asked him what happens now.
He had lazily kissed her forehead and told her the ball was in her court and it was up to her, which totally surprised her.
Things went the way Chris Jericho wanted them to, no questions asked in the past and now he was giving her power.
She set the first and most important ground rule: Like before, no one was to know.
Number two: They would only sleep with each other
She sure as hell hadn't forgotten about that little stunt he pulled with Irina
Which was why he agreed to rule number three: They would leave the past in the past. No need to dust cobwebs off of old things.
And finally four: No feeling were to get involved.
It was strictly sex. Feelings were the reason things went left the first time around. She had be so caught up in her wanting him to love her and when she accepted that he didn't, he didn't want to let her go. It was a recipe for disaster and would not be repeated a second time.
And that's how the following weeks went without a flaw.
And she had to admit she was enjoying it. Sure some would call her a fool for falling back into bed with the man who had destroyed her relationship, but they just didn't understand. As volatile and explosive they were together, there was something about each other that they craved even after all this time.
She found herself with an extra pep in her step. One that Nikki picked up on immediately as they watched the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion take on Jack Swagger.
"I've seen that look before." the Diva teased "Did someone take my advice and visit the novelty store?"
"Mind your business Nichole." Yelena said, rolling her eyes playfully
The Bella held up hands "Hey, I'm not judging. To each his own. A girl gets lonely when there's no man around and my purple people eater knows how to treat a girl right."
"Do I even want to know what she's talking about?" Punk asked, his face twisting in disgust. He had just come from doing a promo with Heyman, an ice pack in hand.
"No." Yelena ensured him, waving as the Diva went in search for her twin. "How's the knee?" she asked worriedly. She had panicked when the spot in his match with Taker on the table was botched when it didn't breaks he screwed up his knee in the process.
"Hurts like a bitch but its still working." he told her, placing the pack on his bruised kneecap
They watched the match for a few minutes and Yelena could sense his crabby mood.
"You okay?" she asked
Punk sighed heavily "Another loss to add to the collection. No biggie, right?"
"Phil-" she started
"I know, I know. That win was suppose to be mine. I was going to be the one to end the streak. Bearer picked one hellova time to croak on us. I'll stop being a spoiled brat soon, I promise." he said, his eyes glued to the monitor
Yelena patted his good knee "Next time." she told him
"If there is a next time." Punk muttered solemnly
Yelena glanced at him in confusion, but he kept his olive green eyes on the monitor, refusing to clarify so she dropped it. She hopped down from the crate they were sitting on top of and ran her hands through her hair, racking it into a ponytail. Her sweet tooth hit her out of the blue
"I'm going to catering. I think there's cake. Want anything?" she asked, securing her hair with the tie around her wrist
Phil started to joke about her short attention span when it came to food these days when something on her neck caught his eye. He would have missed it if he hadn't been paying attention. It was almost hidden by the collared shirt she was wearing
"What is that?" he asked
"What?" she asked blankly
He stood, careful not to apply to much pressure to his bummed knee and reached out, tugging the collar of her shirt down. Sure enough there it was: the familiar dark purple spot not to far below her ear. As he looked closer he could see similar looking marks in various spots, terrible covered with makeup
He turned his eyes to meet hers and she chewed her bottom lip
"Tell me this isn't what I think it is." he managed to ask, trying to keep his temper in check
"Leave it alone Punk." she told him, adjusting the collar of her shirt.
"You went back to him? After everything that he put you through?" he asked angrily.
"You don't understand." she told him
"I understand that he's clearly hurting you." he shot back "What, you're letting him brand you like some sort of fucking cow?"
"Chris isn't doing anything that I'm not asking him to." she barked defensively
"Yelena, do you hear the bullshit you're spouting right now?" he asked her "You're doing exactly what he wanted you to do all along. How naive and stupid can you be?"
"Whatever happened to you not getting involved in anyone's business anymore?" she asked frostily "I don't need a lecture from you Phil. Drop it!"
He was slightly taken aback by that statement. The fact that she could say that to him after he has been nothing but a good friend, lied, and took a punch the face for her made him take a few steps back "Fine. I'll leave it alone. Do what you the fuck you want. It's not my problem anymore." said, brushing past her.
She let him go, watching him limp slightly down the hall. Maybe it was for the best that she didn't go after him. She was an adult a d she could do whatever she wanted, whether Phil approved of her choices or not
She unlocked the door to Chris's hotel room, checking her surroundings before slipping inside, finding him lounging in bed in front of the television. She said nothing as she set her phone on the bedside table, crawling over to him.
She threw a leg over his lap so she was straddling him, wrapping her arms around his neck, his hands finding her waist as their lips met for a kiss.
He wasted no time pushing her onto her back, his lips attacking her neck. He took ahold of her legs, his hands running up to her thighs before taking ahold of her sleeping shorts.
She lifted her hips as he pulled them off slowly, taking her panties off as well, tossing them to the floor before grabbing at her shirt and doing the same. She lifted her head, her lips finding his
He broke the kiss to pull his own shirt over his head and kicked his pants off as she watched propped up on her elbows, her eyes glazed over with lust.
She let out a yelp as he took ahold of her legs, her back hitting the soft mattress as he yanked her hips closer with a devilish grin as his body hovered over hers.
She let out a guttural groan as he ran his manhood over her slickness
"How are you so wet and I've barely touched you?" he muttered against her ear
She shivered at the feeling of his hot breath in her ear "Shut up and fuck me Jericho."
"Well that wasn't very nice sweetheart." he said drawing back a bit, making her whine "Why don't you ask me politely?" he said, ghosting his erection over her heated core
"Fine." she said crossly "Please shut up and fuck me Jericho." she corrected
"Much better." he said, plunging into her
...
He fell onto the pillow beside her, gasping for air.
She was insatiable. How she kept coming back for more was a wonder. He glanced over at her to see if she was burned out yet
Her green eyes burned with want
Nope, not yet
She smirked at him as she threw a leg over kid and kissed his chest, her hands wondering downwards into the sheets wrapped around them
"Woman, let me catch my breathe." he huffed
She grinned, leaning up to kiss him "I want you. Now."
"I'm very aware." he muttered against her lips "But I simply do not have it in me."
She straddled him, nipping at the flesh of his neck "How many different ways do you want me to say it?" she asked
"How many languages do you speak again?" he asked cheekily
"Ti voglio, Chris." she said in his ear
"That's one." he counted, running his fingers through her silky brown hair
"YA khochu vam Krisa." she said in Russian
Chris moaned at the foreign language falling from her lips "Two"
She smirked down at him, grabbing his hands, placing them on her breasts as she grinded her hips against his "Te quiero Chris."
She had him standing at full attention now. There was something about the way the woman spoke Spanish that did things to him.
"You'll be the death of me." he growled, rolling her on her back as he positioned himself between her legs.
Just as he was about to go in for the kill, her phone buzzed on the nightstand.
"Ignore it." she commanded
He leaned over the shirt distance, glancing at the screen. A beautiful older woman's face smiled back at him, the contact reading "Smother", which made him snort "Its your mother."
"She can wait." she insisted
Chris reached over and puck the device up, swiping the answer button and held the phone out to her
She shot him a defiant glare before pressing the phone to her ear "Hello mother." she said non- enthusiastically
"Hi honey, sorry to bother you at this hour, are you busy?" Emilia asked
Yelena rolled her eyes at Chris's shit eating grin as he let released her from their compromising position, returning to his pillow "No, not at all."
"I just wanted to confirm your plus one. You're inviting Randy, I assume?"
"Um... No actually." she said, scratching her eyebrow
"What? And why on earth not?" her mother asked
"Because we're not together anymore mom. It didn't work out."
"I'm so sorry to hear that dear. We liked Randy. You should have called. Are you doing okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine mom." Yelena assured her
"Did you still want me to hold a spot for you? You could bring Aksana. I haven't seen her in ages."
Yelena fought the urge to sigh. She hadn't talked to the Lithuanian Diva since their blowout months ago "I don't know mom. I'll get back to you and let you know."
"Okay dear. I guess I'll see you soon. We love and miss you."
Yelena knew that her mother was sucking up a bit. It was only her second time talking to her since Thanksgiving and she was still walking on thin ice
"I love you too." she replied
"Goodnight honey."
"Night mom." she said, hanging up, tossing her phone back on the stand
Chris pulled her against his chest "I'm ready to go again." he told her
"Tough." she said, reaching over and plucking his shirt from the floor, sliding it on. She turned her back to him curling into his body "Make that your first and last time picking up the phone for my mother."
Chris let out a groan "You can't be serious?"
She smirked, pulling the covers over them, turning out the lights "Good night Jericho."
"It might be a good night for you. Sleeping with blue balls is not how I imagined my night ending." he said, pulling her against him.
"You're more than welcome to finish the job yourself." she teased
"Thanks, but no thanks." he muttered, slipping an arm under her pillow. "Fucking infuriating." he grumbled, pressing his nose into her hair, taking in the familiar scent and willed himself to sleep.
"So" Chris started "Are you going to ask me?"
They were in bed after they're latest roll in the hay watching TV and eating greasy Chinese food from their containers. She was stuffing her face because she was starting her juice cleanse next week.
Yelena tucked the sheets under her arms, pulling her knees up to her chest "Ask you what?" she said, digging through the plastic bag for a packet of soy sauce and tearing it open with her teeth.
"To be your plus one for your sister's wedding." he said popping a broccoli floret into his mouth
"And why should I do that?" she asked, squeezing the dark drown liquid onto her Low Mein.
"I love weddings." he said simply
Yelena looked over at him in amusement, his face matching hers as if he knew what she was thinking
"That's borderline breaking the rules."
"Its not like its a date Yelena. Your mother is expecting you to show up with someone and I just so happen to have those three days off."
"How convenient. Are you sure you're not just anxious to see my sister again? You two got along so well." she said smartly. She saw right through his games. He was fighting a smile now and she narrowed her eyes at him
"I thought we weren't bringing up the past anymore. It was one of your rules." he countered
Damn. He had her there "Fine." she agreed. "You can come." she said with a shrug
"Are you asking me or telling me?"
Yelena let out a chuckle. He was clearly messing with her now "Will you be my plus one, you jackass?" she asked.
Chris let out chuckle
He was really starting to rub off on her.
"Yes I will." he told her, stealing a piece of beef from her box.
"But its not a date." she clarified
"I never said that it was, but okay." he teased, lightening the mood
"I never realized how obnoxious you could be." she said, rolling her eyes playfully. She finished her food and set it aside, reaching for the fortune cookie, tearing the plastic
"You eat those things?" Chris asked, wrinkling his nose at her
"It is a cookie." she told him
"You might as well eat the plastic too."
"Whatever. More for me." she muttered, cracking the cookie in half, pulling out the small slip of paper, reading the words
"Everything happens for a reason."
She turned it over
"Lucky numbers: 26, 10, 1"
It was the oddest fortune she had ever received, even though it was the simplest. She was starting to get the feeling that it was made specifically for her...
She shrugged the feeling off. The people who made those things were very good at making people believe in those tiny fortunes.
She tossed the slip of paper aside, popping half the cookie into her mouth, digging in the bag for another one as she leaned her head against Chris shoulder.
He was pushing his limits, asking to escort her to her sister's wedding and she felt as if she had given in way too easily to him, but hadn't she always?
As long as he kept up his end of the agreement, she wasn't going to jinx the situation
Cincinnati, Ohio April 25, 2013
Yelena smiled as the woman placed the necklace in her palm
She had realized that in the mist of their frantic tearing of clothing, Chris had snagged her necklace, breaking the delicate chain. Thank God Chris wasn't around to witness the mini heart attack she had when she has found the necklace. She had sworn that she would never take it off and she was going to keep that promise whether she was with Randy or not. She had put it away in a safe place, making a mental note to get it fixed as soon as she got a free moment in her busy schedule.
"Good as new." the woman smiled "and I threw in a free cleaning."
"Thank you so much." Yelena said, passing the woman her credit card before fastening the necklace around her neck, feeling better now that it was in its rightful place. She admired the sparkling diamond-filled petals of the pendant, watching them twinkle in the light through the little mirror on the counter
"It's a beautiful piece. From a boyfriend?" The woman asked, noting her bare left ring finger
"An ex." Yelena told her solemnly
The older lady gave her an apologetic look and Yelena was glad for the end of that conversation. She handed her back her card and wished her a good day.
It was Wednesday and they had a house show in Cincinnati. It worked out in her favor that she was so close to home. The last thing she needed was to be spotted with Chris in a crowded city and cause any more scandals. This way, all they had to do was slip out of the arena unseen after the show and she would drive the three hours. It wouldn't be that hard.
She had to admit, she was a tad nervous. She and Chris hadn't even been out on an official date, much less him escorting her to Val's wedding. And then there was Irina...
Chris had slept with her after all, which made it weird. Knowing her sister, she would be all too happy to see the Fozzy singer and pushing up on him. She was sure Chris would just lap that up
She shook the flash of anger that ran through her. Who was she to tell him to stay away from Irina? They weren't together. She was overthinking as per usual. She'd never been so comfortable with Chris as long as she'd known him. The vibe between them had definitely changed this time around. It was like they had gotten to know each other in the past month.
She was delivering a stack of proofs to John for his signing the following day and they were chatting when her phone buzzed in her back pocket
Where are you?
XChris
She hasn't seen him since Raw that Monday
Dropping off John's proofs
XYelena
Meet me on the north hall in five
XChris
Yelena huffed, annoyed
"Duty calls?" John joked
"Something like that, yeah." she muttered "I'll catch you later Cena." she said, turning towards the door, running smack into a broad chest "Oh, sorry, I-" she stammered, looking up into the icy blue eyes of none other than Randy.
It was her first time being this close to him in a while, the last time being on the elevator that faithful night. Sure she had seen him around, but she tried her best to stay out of his way
"Sorry." she said again
"It's fine." Randy told her
She noticed that the frosty look in his eyes that he held just for her had somewhat thawed a bit. She shot him a gentle smile, stepping out of his way and left without another glance
Randy looked over his shoulder as the door shut behind her before turning his attention to John
"You still talk to her?" He stated
John shrugged "Yeah. Am I not suppose to?"
"Nah, that's not what I was implying. You're a grown man. I just... Didn't know you still talked to her is all." Randy said, glancing back at the door in which she had retreated out of.
"She looks good. Better than the last time I saw her."
There was an awkward silence
"Yeah... She seems okay. Mentally, I mean." John told him
"That's good." Randy murdered
There was a long pause. Randy could feel John's eyes on him, studying him
"You gonna act like you hate her forever?" He finally asked the Viper
"I don't hate her. I could never hate her." Randy admitted "I just hate the way things ended."
"Notice I said 'act like you hate her'" John corrected "I know you could never hate her. You know she's sorry. She's been beating herself up for weeks."
"I know John." Randy sighed
"So why haven't you tried to fix things yet?"
"Because. I don't think it's fixable. Once you lose my trust, there is no getting it back. I'll be forever paranoid. I'm a private person. I don't want to be that guy who's girlfriend is cheating and everyone knows but me."
John nodded. If anyone knew about people being in their private business, it was him. He had, after all, been through a nasty public divorce
"Do whatever you feel is right, but I feel like you should at least hash things out with her so you both can have closure if you really believe it's over."
Yelena turned onto the empty north hall, spying Chris immediately, leaning against a crate. He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her flush against him, claiming her lip with his
"This is what you dragged me all the way to the other side of the arena for?" She muttered against his
"Mmmhm." he hummed before he broke the kiss, one hand sliding through her hair. He stared at her, making heat rise in her cheeks
"What?" she asked, chewing her bottom lip
A small smile tugged at his lips as he shook his head "Nothing." he said, touching his forehead to hers "Would I be breaking the rules of I told you slightly missed your company these past few days?"
She couldn't fight her own grin "Yes" she told him, nuzzling his nose with hers
"Oops " he said sarcastically before kissing her once more.
Yelena had to stop herself from losing control "Someone could see us." she warned
"No one is around." he told her
She pulled away with a soft peck "I have a match to do in like" she said, glancing at her phone "two minutes and thanks to you, I'll have to run to get there in time."
He pulled her hips to him, placing a chaste kiss on her forehead before letting her go
"I'll see you after the show." she promised, turning to book it down the hall, her heart pounding uncontrollably. It was going to be an interesting weekend indeed and knowing Chris, he was going to see what all rules he could break and get away with and strangely, she was okay with that.
The drive was pretty quiet. It wasn't an awkward quiet though, more like comfortable silence. Arriving at her condo, Chris grabbed the bags There was an instant feel of relief as Yelena unlocked and opened the front door to her place.
"You can put the bags anywhere." she told him, hanging her keys and coat on the hook. He settled with putting them in the corner in the living room
"Nice place." he said, making himself comfortable on her couch.
Yelena smirked at how at home he seemed
"Thanks." she said, plopping down next to him, tucking a leg under her with a tired smile "I'm starving. You want to order something?" she asked
"How are you hungry and we just ate an hour ago?" he laughed, referring to the drive thru burger place they had stopped at
She only shrugged "Don't you ever get tired of fast food?" "Are you implying that you want me to cook?" she asked
"Or I could." he offered
"No way, no one cooks in my kitchen but me." she told him, making him chuckle "I'd have to go to the store anyway. I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the fridge that's remotely edible." she said more to herself. She hasn't been home in a few weeks and she knew that her refrigerator was in need of a good clean sweep. "What are you in the mood for?"
"It's up to you." he told her
"Breakfast sound okay?" she asked? She was suddenly in the mood for blueberry pancakes... And bacon...
"Sure."
She hauled herself up from the couch, grabbing her coat, purse, and keys "I'll be back in a bit." "Kay." he said, grabbing a remote from the coffee table and turning on the TV.
She dashed to the nearest store, getting everything she needed. She couldn't help but reminisce on how just five months ago, she had been doing the same thing. Dashing to the store to get Thanksgiving supplies and things to cook for Punk and Randy. She tried not to dwell on how horrible Thanksgiving had went
Or how wonderful the fallout had been.
Before she knew it, she was back at her place, finding Chris where she had left him, watching the news.
She went straight to the fridge, dragging the trash can with her and went to work on tossing out all the old food before pulling out everything she needed and starting on their late night breakfast. She mixed the pancake batter and added in fresh blueberries, pouring it into the pan, skillfully scrambling eggs and flipping bacon, the smell making her stomach growl with anticipation. Piling a plate with food, she ventured into her living room towards the Fozzy singer.
"Breakfast is served." She said, sitting his glass of OJ on the coffee table and handed him his plate. She went back to get her own
She watched as he cut a piece of a pancake and popped it into his mouth, humming in approval.
They chatted idly while they ate, which she was glad for, making her feel at ease. Full, he set his empty plate on the table. He grabbed her by the waist, pulling her down onto his lap.
"Everything taste okay?" she asked, nibbling on a slice of bacon
"Like heaven. You know your way around a kitchen woman, as you should." he joked, snatching the remaining bit of bacon out of her hand with his teeth
"Thank my Italian mother for that."
"Bless her soul for keeping you where you belonged"
"Thread carefully Jericho. That's where the knives are."
He grinned, shifting her so she was facing him, caressing her legs "I think its time for a shower." he said, his eyes darting down to her full lips
"Yeah? And then what?" she asked knowingly, wrapping her arms around his neck, stroking the soft hair on the back of his neck
"Then its time for you to show me the best room in this place." He said, nodding his head towards the hall
She got up, pulling him with her "It would be rude of me not to, huh?" she said, chewing on her bottom lip coyly
"Yes it would. Lead the way." he instructed, watching as she walked towards the hall, pausing to pull her sweater over her head slowly, dropping it to the floor, peeking over her shoulder with a lustful gaze.
The sight of her lace black bra immediatly had his attention and he watched in awe as she unhooked it, taking it off and tossing it at his feet, holding her naked chest with one hand, continuing down the dark hall. Chris let out a chuckle to himself before following. He would follow this woman anywhere if she kept teasing him like she was and strangely, he was okay with that.
Chris couldn't think of a better way to wake up than a woman on top of him.
He thruster his hips in perfect melody with hers with a grunt, watching as she threw her head back in pleasure, her orgasm sending her free falling, him right behind her.
She looked down at him, her brown hair falling around her face with a wanton, but satisfied smile on her lips It was moments like these that he wished he could capture and look back at after this whole thing was over.
As much as it didn't want to sit right with him, he know that this wouldn't last forever. He wasn't looking to settle down, dispite his age. Wrestling wasn't his only priority these days. He still had his band and an acting career he wanted to persue amongst other projects. Where would a relationship fit into all of that?
"What are you thinking?" she asked, breaking his thoughts
"Nothing." he lied smoothly "Come 'er." he said, cupping the back of her neck and pulling her down to him. She climbed off of him and leaned down and he kissed her as she settled into his side. "What's the plan for today?"
"Well." she sighed, tracing the "F" tattoo on his hand "I have to go to another fitting for my dress and run a few errand with my mother before the rehearsal dinner."
"Am I going with you to the rehearsal dinner?"
"Dont take this the wrong way. As much as I want to say no, you have to."
"You don't want me to go?"
"Not for the reason you think. I just want to keep you away from my mother for as long as possible and Irina for obvious reasons." she said bitterly, Thanksgiving flashing into her mind "The decision is yours."
"Your mother is expecting someone isn't she?" he asked
Yelena nodded
"Then there's your answer." he said, tucking an arm under his head "Plus I want to see you squirm a little bit." he added, earning him a an aggressive nip on the shoulder "Ow!"
"Dick." she laughed, kissing the spot she assaulted lightly before rolling out of bed, wrapping herself in one of the rumpled sheets
He watched her go, admiring the way the thin cover hugged her body as she headed to the bathroom "Want some company in there?" he called after her
"No, asshole!" she called back
"Damn tease" he huffed under his breath "What time should I be ready?"
"Seven sharp."
She was relieved to see the absence of Irina's BMW in the driveway of her parent's house. Good. She would have time to gather herself before she saw her oldest sister. She breezed into the house, finding her mother and Val in the kitchen, looking over some wedding details
"Hi honey. When did you get in?" Emelia asked
"I drove down straight after the show in Cincinnati last night." she told her mother before turning to her sister with a broad smile "Are you excited?" she asked, kissing her cheek
"Very, but I'll be glad when its over and I'm officially Mrs. Frederick Caro."
They chatted excitedly about the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. Yelena couldn't help but notice her mother was silently watching her. "Where's dad?" she asked her sister
"He's at the tailor's." Val said, gathering up the the mess of papers in the table
"And Irina?" she forced herself to ask
"Fashionably late, as usual. I won't expect to see her until the dinner."
"Which reminds me. We need to get a move in. The dinner is in six hours and we have a lot to do before hand." her mother said, clapping her hands together.
They drove two cars to get to the fitting. Yelena wasn't surprised to find out that her dress needed to be taken in a few inches, thanks to her juice fast. Her mother stood in the mirror behind her as the seamstress went to work on her dress.
"How are you honey?" Emilia asked
"I'm fine mom." Yelena said, tapping away on her phone.
"How are things with Randy? Have you spoken to him?"
"No. I'm giving him his space right now." Yelena said, sending a work related email off to Stephanie. She really needed work a few things when she got back to work next week
"You haven't told me what exactly happened with you two."
"That's because I don't want to talk about it. Just know that it was nothing he did. It was me. I screwed things up." she said, tossing her phone on a nearby sofa
"Hmm.." Emilia grunted, her blue eyes still processing over her youngest daughter curiously.
Yelena rolled her eyes. There it was. Her mother was fishing for something "What is it mom?"
"Something is different. You just seem so... Okay after this breakup although it clearly didn't end on the best terms. I'm getting this weird aura and I noticed it as soon as you walked through the front door." Emilia said, brushing her daughter's hair out of her face "Are you sure there isn't anything you want to talk about?"
Yelena raised an eyebrow. What her mother could be talking about, she didn't know. "I'm fine mom. Really. Yes my breakup with Randy was difficult, but I'm trying to get through it as best as I can."
"Of course." her mom said "So will Aksana be joining the festivities tomorrow?"
"Uh... No actually, but I did invite someone." Yelena told her, chewing her lip
"A girlfriend from work?"
"It's a male friend, actually." Yelena admitted, twisting the sunflower pendent around her neck
"A male friend? Really?" Emilia asked with a small smile
"Mom, don't jump to conclusion-"
"I'm not! So, what's this male friend's name?"
"Chris." Yelena said simply
"And will Chris be joining us tonight?"
"Yes mother." Yelena said with yet another roll of her green eyes
"Good! We can't wait to meet him." Emilia said with a genuine smile before leaving her to check on Val
Yelena shook her head, ignoring the sense of uneasiness in the pit of her stomach. She had really at stuck her foot in her mouth this time.
She shut her front door, surprised to see Chris dressed and ready to go. He wore black dress pants and a simple black button down shirt.
She made a beeline to her bedroom and pulled out a simple long sleeved white shirt and a nude colored pencil skirt, matching it with a pair of Louboutin peep toe heels. She decided to go easy on her makeup, settling for natural tones and nude lipstick.
In all honesty, she really wasn't in the mood to be around people. Her stomach was bothering her and she could feel a headache brewing behind her eyelids. She smoothed out the fitted fabric on her hips before collecting her purse and coat before heading back into the living room and they exited her condo.
They pulled up at the fancy restaurant where the dinner was being held.
Chris tossed the valet the keys and opened her door, helping her out of the car.
"So chivalry isn't dead." she smirked
"Not this weekend sweetheart."
The hostess escorted them to their private room and Val was the first one to spy the pair's entrance.
"Trying to out show me are you?" she asked her baby sister
"Never. You look beautiful Lisa." Yelena told her, kissing both of her cheeks in greeting
"I'm assuming this stud is your plus one." Val said, smiling warmly at Chris "
Yeah. Val, this is my good friend Chris Irvine. Chris, this is Valilis
a." "Nice to meet you." Chris said, shaking her sister's hand "Congratulations."
"Nice to meet you too and thank you."
"Where's mom and dad?" Yelena asked
"Over there." Val pointed. Frederick was waving her over from across the room, where he was talking to what had to be his parents "Excuse me." she told them "You have some explaining to do." she muttered in her ear as she passed
Yelena suppressed a grin. Valilisa, like their father, had a knack for reading her like an open book. She linked her arm through his with a grin "Might as well get this over with."
"Should I be afraid?" Chris asked, looking a bit nervous
"Not at all. Just be your charming self and everything will be fine." she told him, leading him into the direction of her parents
"So you think I'm charming?"
"Oh, grow the hell up." she snorted, putting on a winning smile for her mom and dad "Daddy." she squealed, throwing her arms around him
"Moy rebenok devochka, how are you?" Nikolai asked his daughter
"I'm fine." she said, beaming. She missed her father dearly. "You look great." she said to her mother, kissing both of her mother's cheeks. She truly did look stunning in her cream colored Sargent dress, showing up everyone over forty in the room.
"As do you honey. You look beautiful." Emlilia said, all the while her deep blue eyes on the gentleman at her side "You must be Chris."
Chris took that as his cue to make his presence known "And you must be the fourth sister Yelena forgot to mention." he said, flashing a megawatt smile
"Flattery will get you everywhere in this family." Emilia laughed, kissing both of his cheeks lightly.
"A bold man, flirting with my wife right in front of me." Nik laughed "Glad you could join us Christopher."
"The pleasure is all mine, sir." Chris said, shaking her father's hand "I'm glad to be here."
Yelena's cheeks warmed when he sent a smile her way and she sucked her head, not meeting his eye for fear of her mother and father seeing. And so they mingled, Yelena greeting a few family members that she hasn't seen in ages and with Frederick's family. Chris, of course, got along with pretty much everyone, even getting a laugh out of her father and laid it on extra thick for her mother.
Yelena found herself hanging back, watching him It was bizarre, him being here with her for her sister's wedding. Meeting her while family when a year ago around this time she had been his shameful secret. No. Rule number three. The past was in the past. It still didn't make her feel any less in the twilight zone. Who would have thought that she would be in the place in her life that she was currently in.
Everything was going well as they started the dinner.
Up until Irina made her royal entrance. She strolled in, forty five minutes late might I add, wearing a ridiculously tight red scuba dress that had all of Frederick's uncles and cousins drooling over their plates.
Yelena rolled her eyes, watching as she kissed their father and mother then Val, and finally noticed her
"Hello sorellina." Irina greeted overenthusiasticly in Italian, hugging her "
Irina." Yelena said, hoping the frostiness in her voice was at bay.
Her sister's pale green eyes shifted to Chris, sitting beside her and she licked her lips, drinking him in "Chris Jericho. You were the last person I expected to see here, not that I'm disappointed in the least." she said, nudging her little sister out of her path and wrapping an arm around his neck, pressing her body to his, drawing back only enough to place a sultry kiss on either of his cheeks.
"You know Chris too?" Emilia asked her eldest daughter
The corner of Irina's red lips twitched upward with a playful smile "We met when in Texas while I was visiting Yelena. You could say we know each other well enough."
"Good to see you." Chris managed, releasing her hold on him in the politest way and seating himself back in his chair.
"I'll bet." Irina said with a grin, letting her hand drag over his shoulder as she rounded the table to her seat directly in front of him. She placed one elbow lightly on the table, taking her perfectly manicured fingernail in between her red lips, biting it with that all to knowing smirk that screamed trouble.
She had no shame, flirting with Chris all through dinner. Yelena had to resist the strong urge to stab her in the face with her dinner fork. It was a crying shame that she wanted to inflict bodily harm on her eldest sister every time she was in her presence and the fact that Chris was chatting it up with her annoyed her to no end. She excused herself to the bathroom, surprised when Val slipped in behind her
"Alright." she said, folding her arms across her chest, all business "Who is he?"
"A... Friend."
"Bull. You just broke up with Randy. I've never heard you mention his name and you bring him to my wedding as your plus one. In case you haven't noticed, that's kind of a big deal. So what is this?"
Yelena sighed "Fine. He's a little bit more than a friend."
"So you're together?" Valilisa asked.
"Not quite." "Your... Sleeping with him?"
Yelena sighed heavily, leaning against the counter "Yeah. I am."
Val's eyebrows shot up in astonishment "Yelena!"
"Don't Val. It is what it is."
Val narrowed her eyes at her baby sister "How long have you been... Doing this."
Yelena inwardly chuckled, not wanting to go all the way back to the beginning. Rule number three "A little over a month."
"And your just totally okay with this?"
"Yup." Yelena said cooly, applying a fresh coat of natural lipstick
"I'm having a hard time believing that."
Yelena whirled around "And why is that?"
"Because I saw the way you've been trying not to jump over the table and strangle Irina all night."
Yelena let out a light laugh "I don't know what your talking about." she said smoothly
"Right." Val laughed, following her little sister out of the bathroom.
She was more than glad when it was over and everyone started to disburse. The valet couldn't get their car fast enough. Yelena found herself tapping her heel impatiently as they waited. As if out of thin air, Irina appeared at Chris's side
"Calling it a night already?" she purred, touching his arm lightly.
"We do have a long day ahead of us tomorrow." Yelena said
"Its still so early. Why don't we go have a few drinks somewhere?" Irina offered, more towards Chris than her sister.
"I'm not on the mood, Rina." Yelena said, trying not to sound hostile.
"How about it Jericho?" Irina asked, giving him her best flirtatious grin "I'm sure Yelena wouldn't mind if I stole you away for a few hours, right Lena?"
Yelena turned her green eyes on him, daring him to say yes to her sister.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to decipher that look and he smartly turned her down. "Maybe some other time." he told her in the politest way.
"You're no fun." Irina pouted "At least promise me you'll save me a dance tomorrow?"
Chris smirked "Sure."
The valet pulled the car around and Yelena for into the passenger seat wordlessly
Chris said goodbye to her sister and slipped behind the wheel and pulled out of the parking lot. He seemed so at ease the whole drive while she sat next to him, steam practically coming out of her ears.
She said nothing as they entered her condo and she went straight to her bathroom, slamming the door. She kicked off her heels and popped an Excedrin just as a knock sounded on the door. "What?" she barked
"You're mad aren't you?" he asked behind the door
She scoffed "No shit. What gave it away?"
"The way you were having a tantrum in the car like a child might have suggested it."
"Bite me, Jericho." she spat . She heard him chuckle and she swung the bathroom door open angrily "This is fucking funny to you?"
"Yeah, actually." he said, with a shit eating from that made her want to punch him
"You don't think it was awkward for me too? I never expected to see her again. I was being polite. What is it about your sister that gets you so worked up?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that she was eye fucking you all night and you were lapping it up?" she said, turning to her mirror, pulling off her top, exposing her black lace bra. His footsteps approached and she avoided his eyes in the mirror.
"You're jealous." he accused
"Go to hell, Chris." she muttered
"That shit doesn't feel too good when its the other way around does it?" he asked, crossing his arms across his chest
"Don't even go there. This isn't the same and you fucking know it." she said, glaring at him through the mirror now "
"How is it different, enlighten me." he demanded
"Because I was in an actual relationship. She's my sister! And you fucked her for the hell of it. So forgive me if it pisses me off that you're entertaining the idea of her throwing herself at you." she yelled belligerently
"You're breaking your rule, you know."
"It'll be the first time for me, unlike you."
"You know that I don't want her."
"Do I?" she questioned "You would have fucked her right there on the dinner table if she asked. If you want to screw her, please, by all means, don't let me fucking stop you." she said dismissively
He placed his hands on either side of the counter, trapping her, nuzzling the side of her neck
"Don't." she said firmly
He let out a frustrated growl and grabbed her by the waist, turning her around roughly
"Chris-"
"Shut up." he barked, crashing his lips to hers, kissing her fiercely
She couldn't help but to return, their tongues colliding.
He clawed at her skirt, yanking it up over her waist before grabbing her behind the knees, picking her up and placing her on the counter
She immediately went to work on his pants, dropping them to the floor in seconds
He nipped at her neck, earning him a moan as he left his mark on her "Why the hell would I want her when I'm here with you?" he asked, his hands slipping in between her legs, not surprised to find her wet for him
She bit her lip, letting out a small moan
He wasted no time pulling his hard on out of his boxers, pulling her panties to the side and filling her.
"Oh god." she whined as he pulled back and rammed back into her. He wasn't holding anything back as he fucked her with no mercy "Shit." she swore loudly
They were like animals in heat. She couldn't control the loud cries of pleasure that escaped her. She could feel herself about to release
Sensing that she was close, he set her down on her feet before turning her around, vending her over the counter and entering her from behind, making her cry out. He tangled his hand in her hair, gripping it as he watched her face through the mirror.
It was a a turn on, watching him fuck through the mirror and her orgasm hit her full force
He came on the spot, watching her come apart and turn into a trembling mess. He pulled out of her, pulling her back against his chest, turning her face back to kiss her. "Still think I'm thinking about your sister?" he asked
"You better not be." she said sharply, fighting the smirk on her lips as she shoved him lightly towards the door "Now get out. I need to shower."
He let out a chuckle, pulling his pants back up before doing as he was told. She watched him until the door closed behind him, shaking her head
"You choose my wedding day, of all days, to not get any sleep?" Valilisa chided as the makeup artist applied a thick layer of concealer to the semi-dark circles under her eyes
"What happened to resting up before the big day?" Irina butted in nosily
Yelena only shrugged, inwardly smiling. Chris hadn't let her off the hook so easily last night, hell- bent on making her believe that Irina was the furthest thing from his mind all night. They hadn't passed out until three a.m.
"Chris could have had drinks with me last night, but Yelena wouldn't share him." Irina said, taking a sip of her memosa.
"I don't see why you're making it seem as if I had to let him go anywhere with you."
"That's why he's here isn't it? Why else would he come to the wedding? He obviously wanted to see me again."
Val looked between the two sisters, confused "Why do I get the feeling that I'm missing something here?"
Yelena waved the makeup artist off so she could look her sister in the eye. She had swore to herself that she wouldn't do this today, but in the blink of an eye, Irina had irked her nerves "What makes you so sure of yourself? He came here with me."
"Maybe its because he remembers how much fun we had in Texas?" Irina challenged "Why else would you bring him if not to keep me company."
Val watched silently and Yelena let out a nasty laugh. She had been waiting for this moment for too damn long to put her sister in her place "Irina, sweetie. Do you really think you're that damn special that a man would invite himself to a coworker's sister's wedding just to see you?"
"I'd like to think so." Irina said confidently
Oh this was rich "Well you thought wrong. He came here with me." she said again, this time slowly
Irina cocked her head to the side before grinning "Oh I see what this is. You've slept with him too. Aw, can't help but to pick at my leftovers since Randy dumped you, huh Lena?" she cooed
Yelena couldn't deny it, that stung beyond repair, but that only fueled her anger "Oh please Rina. I've been fucking Chris way before your little meaningless one night stand." she cooed back, mocking her.
The confident smile on her sister's face melted away "You're a lying bitch."
Yelena smiled sweetly, knowing she had won. She didn't need to say anything else. She wouldn't give her the satisfaction
"I could have him, you know." Irina told her "I always get what I want, little sister."
Yelena snorted "Whatever you say" she said simply
"We'll see who he leaves with tonight." Irina challenged
"Does everything have to be a competition with you two?" Val asked "I'm not dealing with this shit. Not today. Today isn't about either one of you, its about me!" she said, obviously annoyed "I don't care who's sleeping with who. Both of you need to leave it in this room and at least pretend that you're sister and not enemies for today. "
Irina got up, adjusting her robe, muttering what sounded like "Whatever." as she left the room, slamming the door behind her.
Val turned to her sister "What the hell was that about?"
"To make a long story short. Chris and I sort of had this same arrangement around this time last year before I started seeing Randy. He acted like a jealous ass while I was with Randy and slept with Irina to 'get back at me'" she said, using air quotes with a roll of her eyes "Irina didn't know. I couldn't resist bursting her little bubble."
"You sound like you've been through hell and back with him." Val said lightly
"I have." she said honestly "It's more complex than you think."
"Does he have anything to do with why you're not with Randy anymore?"
"Everything, actually." she said grimly
"And you just went back to him after he ruined your relationship?" Val asked
Valilisa caught on fast and Yelena couldn't help but to laugh darkly "You sound like Phil."
"I don't follow. Why would you put yourself back in this situation after that?"
She ran a hand through her freshly curled brown locks. Hell, she didn't understand it either "As much as I tried to fight him the whole way and tried to hate him after everything that he's put me through, I couldn't. Like I said: its more complex than you think."
Val smiled at her baby sister. She knew why her sister felt how she did, but she was going to have to open her eyes and realize it on her own.
It was finally time. They were at the church, everyone lined up and ready.
Yelena handed her sister her bouquet "You look so beautiful." she said, her voice cracking slightly.
"Don't, you're going to make me cry." she said with a laugh
"I'd hug you, but I'm scared I'll get something on your dress or rip it." Irina told her
Emilia dabbed at her eyes and helped her daughter with her veil "I wish I looked as good as you on my wedding day. I so pregnant with your sister. I thought I was going to vomit all over your father. He's lucky I didn't throw up on him before I said 'I do'"
The sisters shared a laughed
A knock sounded on the door and their father came in, dressed in his tux, a smile spreading on his face when he saw his middle child "You're perfect." he said, kissing Val's cheek proudly
"Thank you, papa" Val said, all choked up
"Are you ready?" Nik asked, offering her his arm
Val accepted it, beaming. They filed out of the room and took their places, pairing up with Frederick's groomsmen as the music started
Yelena fidgeted nervously, feeling Greg, Frederick's best man and brother's eyes on her, staring shamelessly. It just so happens that said brother is the very one her mother had tried to pair her up with. Just her luck. She was more than glad when they parted at the end of the alter, her standing behind her older sister and him next to the groom. She happened to glance out into the crowd of people, her eyes finding the blonde haired man instantly, the look he gave her making her positively giddy
He was in awe by her. She wore a sage green dress that heightened her glorious curves. Her long brown hair was piled atop of her head, showing off her slender neck, the neck that he loved to leave his mark on. A bream pf light shone through the stained glass, hitting her naturally sun kissed skin, making hisbreath catch. What was this woman doing to him? He couldn't help but to admire the way her full bust looked in that dress even though it was supposed to be cut modestly. And the way Frederick's jackass of spades brother couldn't help but notice and stare too. It they weren't in a church and he wasn't the groom's brother, he would have gutted him like a fish So deep in a trace, he hasn't noticed when everyone stood, signaling that that he bride was making her way down the aisle stood abruptly. Valilisa look absolutely stunning. He would give credit where credit was due. All of the Ulyanova women looked dressed to impress today. But there was only one that he couldn't keep his eyes off of no matter how hard he tri
ed.
It was a beautiful ceremony that flowed into the reception. Chris did his part, smiling and introducing himself to her relatives. He was actually having a great time. Yelena managed to slip away to talk to her aunt across the room and as if on cue, Irina slipped into the seat beside him
"Need a refill?" she asked, gesturing to his empty glace with hers
"Nah, I'm good." he told her, his eyes never leaving Yelena across the way. Irina had been trying, quiet desperately, to get his attention all day, so he didn't find it odd at all that she appeared out of thin air as soon as Yelena's back was turned.
"Good." she said with a flirtatious grin, taking the glass from his hand, setting it on the table "Because you still owe me a dance."
He didn't have time to object. She pulled him to his feet and dragged him on the floor and wrapped her arms around him, almost possessively as they slow danced
"So you and my sister. Anything going there?" she asked almost immediately
Chris couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his mouth "Why?"
The Victoria Secrets Angel shrugged "She just... Made it seem like you guys have a thing going on."
"We're just friends." he lied easily
"So you're not sleeping with her?" Irina said flatly "I knew she was lying." she muttered more to herself
Chris cocked his head, confused. Had Yelena said they were more than friends? "Why do you care so much?" he asked
She bit her bottom lip seductively He found that it didn't have the same effect on him that it did when Yelena did
"I don't know. I mean, we hit it off so well in Texas. I was just wondering if maybe we could get to know each other a little better?"
Chris started to answer when he saw a figure approach the brunette across the room out of his peripheral vision and his eyes snapped in their direction. He watched he smile shyly at him as they talked. When he reached out and took her hand, laying a kiss on her knuckes, h
e saw a flash of red before his eyes
"So how about it Chris?" Irina pressed
"Excuse me." He said, releasing her and stomping off in the youngest sister's direction, faintly hearing Irina calling his name behind him. He wasted no time cutting in between the two, taking his hand from the Jackass's grip. Yelena narrowed her eyes at him for his rudeness, but he ignored it. The quicker her got her away from the guy, the better. For his sake.
"Dance with me?" he said sternly
She shot Greg an apologetic smile as she let him lead her onto the floor
"That was rude."
"What was rude was him slobbing all over you." he said, placing a hand on her waist, pulling her against his chest
She scoffed as she slipped her small hand in his and they rocked side to side to the beat of the music "Finally managed to pull your head out of Irina's ass?" she fired back
"Not this shit again." he huffed, annoyed
"Yes, this shit again. The sneaky bitch. She never could grow the balls to do anything to my face."
"You worry to damn much, you know that?"
"Can you blame me?" she demanded, her green eyes filled with rage. He saw straight past the anger in her green eyes. It was a defence mechanism. He knew that buried deep, behind the spikes and barbed wire of anger was insecurity. He'd told her once before that he knew it was still there, inside of her and he could see it as clear as day right now. He glanced around, avoiding Irina's fuming gaze until his eyes landed on her parents, who's backs were turned. He wouldn't get away with this any other way. "I want you to do something for me."
"And what would that be?" she asked, still frowning
He dropped a kiss in between her tense eyebrows "I want you to forget about the rules just for today."
"What? What are you-"
His lips crashed down on hers, shutting her up. She stood frozen for only for a moment before she thought "Fuck it" and slipped her arms around his neck, returning his kiss. When he pulled away, she couldn't help the uncontrollably stupid grin on her face.
Emilia's jaw dropped when she saw her youngest daughter wrapped in Chris's arms, the two enveloped in a kiss "Honey, where is Val? Its time for the father-daughter dance" Nik asked, scanning the crowd
Emilia turned him in the opposite way from Yelena's direction "She went that way!" She said, pointing
Nik raised an eyebrow at his wife before muttering something in Russian and going in the pointed direction
Emilia sighed in relief before turning back to her daughter and her so called "Friend". She knew that was a load of crap if she had ever heard one. A mother knew these things. A blind fool could see that there was clearly something between them. She shook her head as she took a sip from her champagne flute.
Something was going on alright and something much bigger than the two of them was about to happen. She just prayed her daughter was ready for it.
Chris shut the door to the condo, preparing for the storm. She had been quiet the entire ride back to her place, clearly stuck in her own head, which could never be a good thing. It was one of those rare occasions where he couldn't get a feel on what she was thinking "Yelena, look I know I was out of line for kissing you like that, but-" She jumped into his arms, attacking him with her lips before he could finish his sentence. He locked his hands behind her knees, kissing her back "Shut up." she muttered when she pulled away She hopped down, dragging her body slowly down his before her feet touched the floor, feeling every bit of the bulge in his pants. She took his hand, her green eyes never leaving his and slowly lead him to her bed.
