Chase's eyes popped open, he instantly felt the cold temperature capture his body, he was drenched in darkness. Confusion filled his thoughts, finally a rational thought came to him. A dream, it was a dream he laughed out loud out of pure joy and relief. He was still in the tent with Michael Zoey and Nicole. Steady sounds of raindrops assaulting the tent canvas was soothing but also chilling.

Suddenly he was startled by a whisper.

"Why are you laughing?"

His head snapped over to see Zoey lying there, her feet were placed together and her arms crossed in front of her, her hands were placed on her shoulders. She was shivering with no blanket to warm her. In the night Nichole had rolled over taking the sleeping bag with her. Zoey didn't want to wake her up so she just decided to tough it out.

"Just had a funny dream."

"What was it about"

"Not important, are you ok?"

"Ya… just cold"

"Your shaking"

"Im fine"

"Zoe, I don't want you getting sick"

Quickly but nervously he rotated his body, pushing up with his right foot and shifting his weight to his left elbow which supported him as he closed the gap between him and a shivering Zoey. He placed his right arm tightly around Zoey, trying to warm her up. Chase was surprised with how cold Zoey's body was. Zoey was to cold to pull away, she loved his warmth as she settled into his embrace with a smile, and offered her gratitude.

"Thanks Chase, I really appreciate it."

Chase just replied with a crooked smile. They both settled into each other's embrace as they tried to get some much needed sleep. Chase couldnt remember a happier moment than what he was experiencing right now, with the girl he was in love with, wrapped tightly in his embrace, as they listened to the steady chorus of the rain.

Chase had no idea what time it was, all he knew is he hadn't slept a wink, how could he when the girl he was helplessly in love with, was wrapped up in him. He wanted to savour this moment, as he studied this beautiful girl. Zoeys body temperature was starting to climb thanks to their shared heat in the midst of the cold rain storm. Zoeys breath changed pace, as she comfortably shifted and gently opened her eyes, that locked with Chases dreary eyes.

"You should be sleeping Matthews." She whispered.

"Ya, just gotta make sure you don't freeze to death." Chase gave a silent chuckle.

Zoey smiled.

"I'm lucky to have someone like you in my life."

Chase smiled, his heart rate drastically increasing.

"I am too."

Zoey was to tired to make fun of Chase's statement, although she knew exactly what he meant. She closed her eyes and settled into the crook of his neck, a smile painted on her face as she let out a content sigh.

Chase tightened his grip, as he gazed up at the canvas roof. Chase assumed Zoey had drifted back to sleep, as he laid there happily. Zoey proved his assumption wrong as she silently broke the silence.

"Chase?"

"Yes?"

"You can let go of me if you want, I'll be fine, and you should get your sleep."

"I'm sorry but I will not have my best friend freeze to death" he smirked.

"Seriously ill be fine, I promise I won't die"

Chase's face tensed. As he replied in a serious tone.

"But I don't ever want to see you in pain."

Zoey could only smile, and tighten her grip on him as she offered a snuggle hug.

"Your amazing Chase" she stated as she stared deep into his eyes.

"You're beautiful." Chase surprised himself, as his mind questioned, did I really just say that out loud? Exhaustion must be getting to me, he thought.

There eyes continued to be locked as Zoey smiled widely, to the relief of Chase. His confidence grew with her response. As he removed his right hand from her back, and brought it up to her face to tuck some stray hairs behind her ear, he let his hand stay there as he slowly rubbed her cheek. Zoey closed her eyes at the feel of his touch.

Chase ventured another compliment.

"You're the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."

Zoey gently opened her eyes, to be locked with his again, her eyes began to dance switching her gaze from his eyes to his lips, as they both could feel there lips slowing moving towards each other's. Chase finally made up the final inch, gently placing his lips to hers. They both closed their eyes, enjoying this passionate moment. Chase held her tight, as there passionate moment continued. Zoey placed her left hand on his face, and then shifted it to the back, pushing his lips more into his. Chase's mind felt numb, he hoped to God this wasn't a dream.

They finally pulled apart, huge smiles plastered on their faces. As their breathing returned to a normal pace. Chase spoke up.

"I believe this calls for a serious conversation in the morning."

Zoey chuckled.

"I believe it does, but we really need to sleep."

"I agree." Chase smiled and gave Her a light kiss on the forehead. As they both drifted off to a happy restful sleep, together, something that Chase hoped wouldn't change for the rest of their lives.
