A Heart's Passion

Keith: Last time we were being blinded by a light

Kate: and Keith realized that he's crushing on Karrie

Kellyn: he's what?!

Keith: *turns bright red* That's just Kate talking crazy!

Me: I own my OCs. I don't own Pokemon. If I did, I'd make sure certain shippings were canon

Chapter 5

Karrie's P.O.V.

I was surprised that Keith showed up. To be honest, I was expecting Kellyn. It was a nice surprise though. I'm going to kill Keith as soon as we stop traveling through this freaky portal. I CAN WALK! I haven't broken any bones, I can walk! Light suddenly blinded me and soon I was falling. I would have screamed but the arms holding me tightened and held me closer to a body, making me feel safe. I opened my eyes to see Zenya blankly staring at me. I looked around to see we were in the Chroma Ruins. I got up and tried not to laugh at the pig pile I saw. Kaleb and Lucario were on the bottom, Justin was on top of them with Pikachu, and then there was Keith and Buizel. Emolga had quickly jumped to be on my shoulder, laughing hysterically. Zenya had Gardevoir move everyone.

"What. The. Heck." Kaleb said as he glared at everyone else.

"Last I remember, I was running away from an avalanche," Justin commented.

"Who are you guys?" Keith asked. Cue face palm.

"We're all Top Rangers," Kaleb replied, obviously trying not to snap.

"I'm Justin and this is my partner, Pikachu," Justin replied politely. Oh how I wish more people were like that man. Silent, kept to himself, and had a kind soul and a heart of gold. Also had the patience of a saint.

"Kaleb and Lucario, the two of us helped bring the stupid boxes into your room," Kaleb said. Yep, that boy is ticked. Sometimes it's hard to believe that he is a ranger.

"Top Ranger Zenya and my partner is Gardevoir," Zenya replied in a monotone voice. Sometimes I question whether or not she's human.

"No need to introduce yourself, Keith," Justin said. "Everyone knows Top Ranger Keith and his partner Buizel in the Union." Keith slowly nodded. Told him he was a big shot, he didn't believe me.

"So other than an avalanched and a volcano going off, what's happening?" I asked.

"One of the worst sandstorms occurring while earthquakes and thunderstorms are happening in Haruba," Kaleb replied as he shook his head and dusted himself off.

"People are trying to control legendaries and take over the world," Zenya said. "I freed Darkrai and destroyed the disaster machine before anything could happen here."

"Way to make the rest of us feel like failures," I mumbled. Zenya shrugged and Kaleb complained under his breath.

"Justin seems to have made damage minimal," Zenya said as she looked through data Hannah probably sent her. "Kaleb and Haruba is just a bad mix. A Zapdos explains the thunder."

"Geez, thanks," Kaleb said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.

"And the enemy was too good at figuring out how to push Karrie to her limits as they somehow got Groundon in this region," Zenya replied.

"So it is all the shorty's fault," Kaleb commented.

"I'm not short!" I exclaimed.

"You're not even 5'1"!" Kaleb yelled back.

"So, calm down Zapdos and Groundon, save Almia," Keith said and Zenya nodded. "Why just Almia?"

"Probably more going on than we know," I said.

"That means Hannah's going to have to call on the Shadow Crew again," Justin said.

"It bugs me that only Hannah knows who everyone is and has met everyone in the Shadow Crew," Kaleb complained. We heard a pokemon cry before everything started to shake. We saw Palkia before Zenya saved us from being crushed from rocks by teleporting us. We appeared in one of the Crew's secret bases, right behind Hannah and next to my best friend, Laurie.

"Warn me next time," Hannah said as she shot us a death glare with her icy blue steel eyes. I guess she was working on something before crashing in.

"Teleporting was random on such a short notice, we were about to be crushed," Zenya explained.

"What's with her hair?" Keith asked as Hannah's hair flickered from blood red to pink. We all shrugged.

"Just ignore it if you want to live," I replied.

"She we start contacting other members?" Laurie asked.

"Aren't you one of the Union's mechanics?" Keith asked and Justin had to hold Kaleb back as Laurie nodded.

"So you can recognize the different mechanics but you can't recognize a fellow Top Ranger?!" Kaleb exclaimed.

"Nah, these guys can handle Almia no problem," Hannah said. "Especially if you and Todd give them the new gear you two made for Rangers."

"Right, zero gravity friction boots, precision gloves with added features, bullet proof fire proof water proof uniforms, special goggles, multipurpose belts, and a special upgrade for the stylers," Laurie said as she brought each item out. "User manuals for everyone but Karrie, I'll just run you through it."

"I appreciate that," I said.

"What am I getting into?" Keith asked.

"A wicked cool top secret underground organization whose mission is to save the world and shut down the bad guys!" I replied with a smile. I looked at his attre: T-shirt, sweatpants, and sneakers. "You went in a volcano like that?"

"Like I was expecting to go in a volcano today," Keith exclaimed as he hit my head. I'm glad that he's opened up to me, but does he have to hit so hard?

"Lovebirds, gear up," Kaleb said as he came out of a room. He was wearing an outfit that resembled a crossover between a ranger outfit, a cowboy outfit, and an Attack On Titan outfit. He had a red jacket on black gloves, the tank top muscle shirt from the ranger uniform, black pants, boots that looked like our normal boots but more space age, and a blue bandana around his neck.

"We're not lovebirds!" Keith and I exclaimed. Kaleb shrugged.

"These better be air conditioned or its going to be way too hot," Kaleb said as he looked at Laurie.

"Does he have a thing for her?" Keith asked quietly.

"No, and Laurie has a boyfriend anyways," I replied, trying not laugh. I pushed Keith into the room so he could change next.

"You like him," Laurie said with a sly smile on her face.

"Huh?" I asked as my face turned red. "Not that way! No!"

"You're lying," Laurie replied in a sing song voice.

"Am not!" I yelled.

"Are too," Laurie replied.

Keith's P.O.V.

I don't know if Laurie and Karrie know if I can hear them talk. I had started to get dressed when I heard Laurie inquire if she liked me. It was weird hearing the girl you have a crush on deny having romantic feelings towards you and her friend accusing her of lying. I didn't know if I should be hopeful or not. Anyways, this whole thing I'm now involved in thanks to Karrie is bizarre. How could the Union not know about this? How did Karrie get on a team that took down Black Royalty way before she became a Top Ranger?

The new gear seemed to fit nicely, but why hasn't this technology been released for everyone yet?

"Just admit, you like him," Laurie said as I finished putting on my uniform. "You know I was surprised that they picked you to be partnered with him. You two are both known to have fiery passions. I thought they would put you with someone who would calm you down and keep you more Kellyn-like."

"The Kellyn-like bridge was broken a long time ago," Karrie replied. "Besides, what's the fun in being exactly like your famous older brother?"

"True, but as much as I'm surprised, I'm glad you two are partners," Laurie said. "I'm rooting for you two to become a canon couple."

"Would you drop that?" Karrie asked.

"I wouldn't be surprised you two were partnered up," Hannah said. "I did some quick research, you two seem to be very compatible teamwork wise. I'm more surprised they only made you a Top Ranger because they needed someone to take him out of depression."

"I was too, but now, I'm kind of glad that I get to play a major role in helping Keith," Karrie said as I tried to figure out when would be a good time to exit the room. "The first day, I got him to smile a bit and laugh a little by accident, I wasn't even trying. His smile is one of those smiles that is contagious and can be fatal towards the female population." A smile grew on my face. "His laugh isn't half bad either. It really frustrated me that someone who was supposed to be this great hero and prankster was this grumpy mess of gloom and doom. The more time we had to spend together, the more I learned about him and the more he opened up. He's a really nice guy, when he's not busy being a grumpy lazy butt. Hannah's right about the teamwork, when he came in from the Union to get me earlier, he was able to jump right in and we were so in sync without a single word being said, it was kind of scary."

"Sounds like someone is falling hard in love," Laurie said in a sing song voice and my heart slammed against my chest.

"Am not!" Karrie exclaimed. "Even if I was, it would be falling into unrequited love. I'm just a nuisance and kid he has to watch over. Besides, he used to have major crush on Kate."

"I fail to see the relevance in that observation," Hannah replied.

"Kate, the beautiful strong heroine of Almia, and then there's me," Karrie tried to explain.

"Beautiful fun loving caring shy passionate," Laurie added.

"Short in size yet still a gigantic pain in the rear end," Kaleb added. I took a deep breath and opened the door.

"Survived working under Teah," Zenya added.

"Helped take down Black Royalty," Justin added.

"Would you like me to compare statistics?" Hannah asked. I put my hand on Karrie's shoulder and she jumped about three feet into the air.

"I was not aware she could jump that high," Zenya commented.

"Don't do that! You scared me!" Karrie exclaimed as she turned around. I flicked her forehead. "Ow."

"Don't compare yourself to Kate, you two are different people with your own strengths and weaknesses," I replied with a bit of a frown on my face. Was she really comparing herself to Kate and thought she would fail if I was the one picking between the two? Did she think that if I was going to start falling for a girl that the girl would be exactly like Kate?

"Go get changed before Justin or Zenya take it first," Kaleb said and Karrie surprisingly obeyed him. Hannah clicked a button. "Now you put the soundproofing barrier on?"

"It's not like you sing while you change," Hannah replied.

"So wait, he heard all of that?" Laurie asked and she looked really worried. I nodded and she suddenly turned into this really scary and angry girl that just by looking at her made me want to go back in time and put ear plugs in so that I wouldn't overhear anything. "Hurt her and you're as good as dead." I gulped. I don't think I want her after my head.

"I was going to come out sooner, but it was really hard finding a part that seemed like an okay time to do so," I replied. Kaleb shrugged, as if he could sort of relate.

"Glad you at least said something that would boost her confidence in herself," Justin said.

"Don't we have other changing rooms?" Zenya asked.

"It's only has one, it's a small hideout, used mostly by Todd and I to make stuff." Laurie replied. Karrie came out and I wonder if Laurie planned ahead of time. Karrie and I matched, with our scarves both being red. Zenya took the room and came out with a green bandana scarf. Justin was the last one with his bandana scarf being yellow.

"Alright, Kaleb can take on Groundon," Hannah said.

"You just want me covered in sand again," Kaleb replied, "but then again it should be an easy task for me."

"I'll go after Zapdos," Justin said as he petted Pikachu.

"Zenya go with Justin, once you two get done, go help Kaleb out," Hannah said and Zenya nodded.

"I guess the two of us get Palkia," Karrie said as she crossed her arms.

"The special upgrade should come in handy if you two really do have great teamwork," Laurie said. "It will allow different capture lines to cross and combine. If used correctly, then it should make capturing and calming down any pokemon easier."

"Right, let's go," I replied. Hannah used a Gardevoir to transport Karrie and I nearby where Palkia is while Zenya took care of the other rangers' transport. She left without a word. What a weird lady.

"So ready to test this stuff out and save Almia?" Karrie asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I replied. "Not exactly how I thought I'd be spending my day."

"Sorry," Karrie said.

"Don't be," I replied. "Though being stubborn and refusing to go on patrols or missions with you before probably wasn't the best idea. Other than at Boyeland, we've never really worked as a team."

"We have, remember?" Karrie asked. "The kitchen, with cooking. Or unpacking."

"Hopefully Palkia won't do anything too freaky with the dimensional stuff," I replied after nodding. I ruffled Karrie's hair and smiled. I'm glad I got stuck with her.

Kaleb: If I get covered in sand one more time, then I'm reusing any of it on the rest of you.

Me: But its fun and cute to make you have to shake your hair to get the sand off, especially when it ends up on someone else like Kellyn, like what happened in the Lucario Kingdom fanfiction story

Kate: speaking of which, are you updating that any time soon?

Me: possibly

Laurie: trueloveshipping is so great to watch

Karrie: *blushes* I told you to drop it

Hannah: if this stuff is happening Almia, then it most likely is or is going to happen in other regions

Keith: T.T does this mean I'm part of the Shadow Crew now?

Hannah: either that or you have two options

Keith: which are?

Hannah: death or imprisonment

Laurie: can't you just use that device to erase his memory?

Keith: how about an oath of secrecy?

Karrie: relax, being a part of the crew just means you are a little more in the know and can't reveal all our identities in relation to our codenames

Keith:only if I get a cool codename

Hannah: codenames are typically based on what enemies tend to refer us as

Keith: so is Karrie's codename Shorty?

Karrie: I'M NOT SHORT!

Kaleb: nah, she's Fire.

Keith: that explains the fire producing gloves

Karrie: Technically it is Shadow Fire

Kaleb: Only because Shadow Fire She-demon was too lengthy to be approved by Hannah

Karrie: *shrugs* fair enough

Justin: Anyways, as always, reviews are welcome
