The human Doctor could feel his eyes glaze over from the hypnotic drama on the telly. His joints ached with the anticipation of having another adventure and his hearts- no, his heart- ached in the sadness that he was unable to have them.

He wanted to run through long stringy grass and hear the buzz of his sonic screwdriver. He wanted to hear the scratchy noise of his TARDIS.

He knew though, that his time-lord self wanted to get to grow old with Rose Tyler, and that's what he was getting to do. He felt sick at the idea of Rose with anyone else. He could only imagine what his time lord self must feel like.

What was this TV show even about anyways?

"THWACK!" A stinging sensation spread across his cheeks and chin. The Doctor's brown eyes flickered upwards to face the wrath of Jackie Tyler. What had he done now!?

"Ow! What the hell was that for!?" He yelled a bit too loudly.

"Get off of my couch!" Jackie demanded, boring holes in him with her eyes.

"Our couch!" He reminded her. "I live here too! Remember?!"

"If you and Rose go buy your own place you can live there! Mind you, Rose would have to pay, considering you seem to be bloody useless! But this is my house and if you're just gonna mope all day there's no way you can live here! We've decided to kick you out! You're evicted! Shoo! Go live in that ruddy box you're growing in my garage!"

He felt another slap slice his cheek.

"Fine fine! I'm going! Leaving! Calm down! Just you wait till Rose hears about this," He grumbled, rising slowly from the couch.

He would collect his things, but he really had nothing to collect, besides the TARDIS of course. His heart warmed thinking about her. She was doing so well! She had been growing for two years now and was still just twists of coral tieing around each other, but she was almost the size of a police box on the inside, now. He had no clue how Jackie expected him to live there after he had become so accustomed to Pete's mansion, but he had already been slapped twice so now obviously wasn't the time for questions.

"Hears 'bout what?" The Doctor can't help but smiling at the sound of Rose's voice. He turned to see her leaning up against the doorframe doing her classic tongue-in-teeth smile that he loved. She walked towards him, ruffling his hair like a dog affectionately.

"I can't wait to hear what actually got you off the couch, considering I couldn't!" She said, half annoyed, and half amused.

"Your mum kicked me out!" He whined, giving Rose his best sad puppy dog eyes.

Rose held back laughter. "Well yeah! I told 'er to! She kept bit- moaning about how you wouldn't get off the couch and whatnot!"

"You told her to!?" The Doctor said loudly in disbelief. Rose could not have been partially responsible for the stinging in his cheeks now could she!?

"I didn't think she'd actually do it!" Rose defended, obviously not to laugh.

"She slapped me! Twice!" The Doctor complained, running a hand down his sore chin.

"Aw," Rose said, somewhere in between sympathy and hysterics. She leaned up to kiss the red on her Doctor's cheeks, where her mom had obviously done him worst. Her hands patted his back gently, eventually turning into a small hug.

"Do you two mind?" Jackie coughed. "That man doesn't live here anymore! Out!"

"Mum!" Rose objected. "He's the Doctor! Think about all the times he's helped us! Just let him stay until Torchwood reopens and we start making money again!"

Torchwood, the one thing saving the Doctor from dying of boredom, had been put on hiatus due to lack of funding, leaving the Doctor and Rose jobless. Rose had gone back to working in a shop and the Doctor had fallen into a soap-opera filled depression.

"Rose! All he does is sit on his bum all day, eat chips, and watch the telly! I don't know who that man is, but he sure as hell isn't the Doctor!" Jackie argued.

Pain soared through the Doctor's heart as the words tumbled through Jackie's lips.

Who had he turned into? He asked himself, staring from the telly to the couch he had spent the better part of the past few weeks on.

He had a human life. A short pathetic human life, and he was wasting it on this!?

The Doctor felt sick to his stomach as he ran out of the room, making his way to the garage.

He was leaving, like they wanted, and taking his TARDIS with him.

"Doctor!" Rose called after him, following him out of the room. She turned back to her mum. "I think we broke him!" She hissed through her teeth before running after the Doctor to the garage.

She quickly found the Doctor moping in his TARDIS, that had grown quite substantially since she had last looked. It was still just bits of coral and hadn't really formed a definite shape yet, but it's inside was definitely a little bigger than it's outside now.

"Doctor!" She called, crawling inside after him.

The TARDIS fit two people rather uncomfortably and would probably explode if they tried to fit anyone else in there. Rose could feel her torso grazing the Doctor's as she struggled to fit in the small box with him.

A silence rose between the two of them as they waited for someone to break it.

"I've been thinking about getting my own place. You know… Away from mum, dad, and Tony," Rose began. The Doctor looked at her, intrigued, sadness still lining his features. "I think… I think maybe mum's right. If you live in here for awhile, you won't have the temptation of the telly or anything… Maybe that'd be best…" Rose trailed off. Her hand had somehow found its way to his, and she felt him massaging her fingers gently.

"Maybe," The Doctor echoed quietly.

"And when you get a job, a proper job, or Torchwood reopens, whichever comes first, then you can move in with me. I'll need a roommate though-" The Doctor began to interrupt her. "With a job!" Rose clarified. "To help me pay for a place. A new friend, that'll be fun! Me getting a roommate and you living on the streets," She poked the Doctor's stomach playfully. "An adventure," She said, giving him a smile, her tongue poking in between her teeth.

He couldn't help but grin right back at her. He could definitely use an adventure.

"Operation, get me off the couch," The Doctor sounded. "Will you help me roll the TARDIS to an abandoned ally not too far from here? It's right near where the rift is in our universe. Who knows? Maybe it'll help her grow faster."

Rose nodded happily, her bleach blonde hair bouncing up and down. She leaned upwards, giving the Doctor a quick kiss before climbing out of the developing machine with him. She placed her hands on the coral she had grown so familiar to, ready to push it to the Doctor's new dwelling.

Rose hoped she could find a roommate soon. She loved her family and all, but she was a twenty five year old girl living with her mum. She didn't think working at a shop would make her enough to support two people and pay half rent, so the Doctor, she hoped, better find a job soon too.

Living with the Doctor in her own place… Well that would just be…Fantastic.
