Not mine.
Prompt- Regina and Robin have more time to say goodbye in 4-12.
Her magic had bought them some time, not enough, never enough but enough so they didn't feel so much like they had just been abruptly ripped from each other. It wasn't her idea, she has been heartbroken but willing to just let him go, walk out her life for the sake of saving his first love and assuring Roland wouldn't loose his mother again. After all isn't that what heroes do, sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of others? Regina still wasn't sure if she was comfortable being labelled as a hero, not after all she has done. She did however know that she would sacrifice all this and more for Robin and Roland. She knew that Robin wanted to stay with her. However, the price of that would be a life and not just any life, the life of his once cherished wife and the mother of his child. That was the worst part in all of this. She wasn't making the sacrifice for his happiness because he was just as heartbroken as she was. She may not believe herself to be a hero but she had grown enough to know that she could no longer forsake others for her own happiness.
He had asked her for more time. He told her he knew it was selfish but they both had been selfish already, so what was one more act if it meant they got a real goodbye? Time to soak up enough of each other, to have something to hang on to when they were separated? So she too had allowed herself to be selfish and she had cast the spell to halt the effects of Marian's curse, they had the night before he would have to leave with his family with no idea if he would ever be able to return.
Once the spell has been cast and The Merry Men had sadly promised their leader they would care for Marian and Roland in his absence and they had silently made their way to her house. The silence had carried on as they had both headed straight up the stairs to her room, it wasn't that they didn't have anything to say it was that they had so much that they didn't know where to start.
Once in her room he had climbed onto her bed and pulled her to him by the hand he hadn't let go of since she had told him he must leave in order to save Marian's life. They now lay side by side, arms wrapped tightly around one another as she pressed herself closer to him, as if trying to merge her body with his so he could take her with him wherever he went. She lay her ear against his chest and took a small amount of comfort in the sound of his heartbeat, knowing that at least for now he was here with her. It was the thought of the after that made the first tear slide down her cheek and dampen the cloth that was separating her cheeks from his bare chest. She knew he had felt his shirt dampen when he slid a hand into her hair and began to stroke through the strands soothingly, while using his other arm to pull her in closer.
His voice was a low rasp, even though he was trying (and failing) to make the sound light as he spoke, breaking the heavy silence between them.
"What am I meant to do out in the modern world? It's not like the world is crying out for professional thieves and archers. Well, unless I get cast in the next story of my life."
She attempted a laugh, but it just came out as a chocked sob and he sat up, lifting her to straddle his waist. He cupped her cheek gently and lifted her head so her tear filled eyes could meet his equally sad ones.
"I know bad joke." He told her gently. "I'm just aching to see that smile of yours before I have to leave again. I need it to tide me over until I return."
She took a shaky breath in at his words and swallowed down her tears as she whispered brokenly.
"If Robin. I have no idea if ill ever be able to break the curse on the town line."
His eyes looked crestfallen for a moment before she visibly saw him shake himself and it was replaced with determination. He brought up his other hand to cup her other cheek as well, trapping her in his gaze so she couldn't escape. He gently shook her and his voice was firm as he told her.
"Hey, none of that Regina, I mean it. You don't get to give up on us ever, do you hear me? We will be together again some day and do you know how I know that?"
She sniffed as she shook her head between his hands. His faith in her was so strong and she loved him for it, but she just didn't know if she would be able to live up to it, she was so very tired. He continued, his voice unwavering.
"I know because of this." He stated as he grabbed her hand to place it over the tattoo on his wrist, the inked lion that marked him as her soulmate. She let out a bitter laugh even as her thumb stroked over the skin of his wrist.
"Yeah the tattoo that fate uses to try and tie you to the broken and unredeemable Evil Queen." She said bitterly.
Her words made him grip her chin with his thumb and forefinger so she was forced to see the seriousness in his eyes. His voice was firm and left no room for argument as he spoke.
"Hey. If you're quite finished that's the woman I love you're talking about! And it's not because of this tattoo. When you told me that I was your soulmate Regina, it came as no surprise to me because it just confirmed to me what I had already knew before you even mentioned the word Pixie Dust to me."
Another tear slid down her cheek and he quickly brushed it away with his thumb before continuing to speak in a gentle voice.
"Do you know the first time I realised I was in love with you?"
Regina frowned at the thought of his question before shaking her head and waiting for him to continue.
"Can you remember the day back in our land when I came back from hunting with the Merry Men and found you and Roland together?"
Regina's eyes widened in surprise, she wasn't expecting him to mention The Enchanted Forest and she told him so.
"Robin, back in our land we did nothing but bicker."
He smirked at her and moved his hand to brush a lock of hair away from her face before answering her in a teasing voice.
"Oh my love I remember a few times when we did more than argue."
She blushed at his words as she remembered their secret affair, both of them fooling themselves that it was just sex, a way to let off steam and nothing more. Yet the frenzied passion when they came together was so explosive it blew her mind and terrified her in equal measures. She smirked at him and he winked at her in return before continuing.
"I came back tired and irritated to find you in the garden with Roland picking berries. Neither of you had seen me approach, so I just stood there watching you both for a while. I heard Roland tell you he wished he had a mother and then asked you if you could be his mother. I could tell that you were uncomfortable with his question and it must have hurt as you had not long lost Henry. I was about to come to the rescue when I heard your answer. Can you remember what you told him?"
She thought back to the time he was referring to and she didn't know whether to smile or cry. Roland and Robin had breathed life back into her. She was devastated over loosing Henry, but here came this father and his son who didn't stop the pain but soothed some of it. It was like putting ice on a wound, it was still there but it made the pain bearable. They had saved her sanity in that time even if back then her relationship with Robin was complex at best and now she may have found Henry again but she was about to loose them. It was, as she feared, it was too good to be true. She took a deep breath and chocked out her words as he stroked her hair in comfort.
"I told him that he already had a mother, that just because he couldn't see or hear her didn't mean she wasn't there and she wasn't still his mother. That wherever she was she was loving him more than anything in the world, but I still could be someone special to him."
By the time she was finished she could hardly get the words out through her sobs. Robin gently shushed her and ran his hand soothingly up and down her back before speaking, his voice quiet in the silence of her bedroom.
"Before that moment I found it hard to make sense of my feelings for you, I was so drawn to you, wanted you more than I have ever wanted anyone in my life and I craved your company in any capacity you were willing to give me. It was intense and confusing but I thought it to be plane lust or even obsession."
She listened intently to his words and recalled feeling similar, how she was so drawn to him, how her stomach would tie in knots when she was close to him and how she would try to mask it with harsh comments and sneers directed at him. Yet she craved him like her next breath, it had scared her to death until one night she had given in and took him by surprise with a kiss. She snapped out of her daydream when he continued to speak.
"Then I heard your words to my son. Here you were sharing your heartbreak and experience with Roland to make him feel better. You gave my son more comfort about his absent mother in ten seconds than I had been able to in four years. In that moment I saw you clearly and understood why I was feeling like I was. I saw you for the kind, courageous, stubborn, complex, beautiful woman you are, and I knew I loved you. When I saw you for the first time in Storybrooke, I couldn't understand what I was feeling. I'd just met you yet I felt like I loved you straight away; I thought I had gone insane. It wasn't until we got our memories back that it all became clear."
She gazed adoringly into his eyes and she saw the same love mirrored back. She felt both thrilled and saddened by it. Thrilled because she felt completely loved for the first time in her life and it was by this wonderful man. Yet she felt crushed by the fact she would soon loose it, `Villain's don't get happy endings' an inner voice whispered tauntingly.
She closed her eyes to try and chase the words away but all it did was cause several tears to slide down her cheeks, she felt like she was drowning and she breathed deeply to calm the raising panic she felt bubbling in her chest. Suddenly his lips were on her cheeks, kissing her tears away. He anchored her to him and she clung desperately to his shoulders as the sobbed out.
"You're not even gone yet but I can feel it in my chest, like a hole has been punched through it."
She caught the look of heartache in his eyes before he pulled her forward and wrapped his arms around her tightly. She held on and she felt wetness hit her neck and she knew he was crying too as he chocked out against her neck.
"I know sweetheart, I know."
Regina had no idea how long they stayed like that, her straddling his lap in the middle of her bed, clinging to one another like an unknown force was about to tear her from his arms but he held her until her loud sobs (that were so unlike her) had turned into small hiccups. When he pulled back to rub his thumb under her eye to collect the rest of her tears she noted his red rimmed eyes and it made her turn her head to place a kiss to the palm of his hand, trying to give him some comfort in return.
She lent forward to rest her forehead against his, rubbing their noses together in a familiar dance they had perfected. She ached to be closer to him, if this was to be her last time with him for who knew how long? Maybe even forever. She wanted her last memory of him to be them connected in every way possible. She drew back to lock her brown eyes with his blue ones.
"I need you." She whispered.
Recognition shone in his eyes and she knew he had understood what she was asking. He replied by leaning in and softly brushing his mouth against hers in a whisper of a kiss, making her sigh softly. He cupped her cheek gently, running his thumb over her cheekbone as he moved his lips slowly over hers as if she was made of glass that would splinter under harsh hands. She wrapped her arms around his neck and used the leverage to scoot closer to him, wrapping her legs around his waist and bringing their bodies flush together. Robin let out a moan in reply and she used that to her advantage to softly brush her tongue against his. This seemed to awaken something within him because he suddenly threaded his fingers in her hair and tilted her head back so he could deepen the kiss further, tangling their tongues together and drawing a breathy moan from her. They kissed heatedly for several minute's, though it could have been longer she wasn't sure, they always seemed to lose track of time when they were kissing, they could happily spent hours sometimes just doing that without it going any further. This wasn't one of those nights though; the need for each other was too great, sparked on by the fact they didn't know if this would be the last time.
The need to feel his skin overwhelmed her and her figures moved to undo the buttons of his shirt, wanting the barrier gone as quickly as possible. It seemed he felt the same as his hands trailed down her sides, over her hips and down her thighs until he reached the hem of her dress before slowly tugging it up. They broke their kiss breathlessly as he tugged her dress over her head leaving her in just her black lace underwear. His eyes scanned her body hungrily and she shivered as his husky voice whispered.
"Beautiful."
She smiled coyly at him before allowing her eyes to rake over his now bare chest, telling him with her eyes she also liked what she saw. She reached up to pull his shirt off his arms and once she had freed him of it dropped it to the floor to join her dress before leaning forward to join their lips again in a frantic kiss that was all lips and tongue. She ran her hands up and down his bare back, thrilled by the feel of the muscles rippling under his skin and she moaned deeply when she felt him nip her bottom lip before sucking her tongue into his mouth.
His hands that had been wrapped around her waist slid up, leaving goosebumps in their wake before they reached the clasp of her bra, he deftly undid it before sliding it down her arms and throwing it to the floor. She gasped into his mouth as he cupped one of her breasts in his hand while the other hand tangled her hair to tilt her head back giving him access to her neck so he could trail open mouthed kisses down it. His thumb brushed over her nipple and it made her whimper as her nails dug into his shoulder, which in turn drew a groan from him. He moved across to her shoulder and sucked on it until she was certain she would have a bruise tomorrow but she welcomed it, wanted the reminder that he had been here once he was gone.
His hand moved to now give the same attention to her other breast as his mouth trailed down to suck the nipple of the one he had just left. She cried out and rocked forward against him, whimpering when she felt his hard length press into her lace covered core through his jeans. He growled low in his throat as his hands found her hips and encouraged her to rock against him in a steady rhythm that had them both panting.
Robin moved to give her other neglected breast some attention as her hand clutched at his hair to make sure he stayed where he was. Her other hand reached between them to stroke him through his jeans and she felt the vibration of his moan against her breast. His mouth left her nipple with a pop and he looked up at her with darkened eyes, she took advantage of this to latch her mouth onto his neck as both her hands moved to undo his belt. Once she had worked his belt free she popped the button on his jeans and slowly drew his zipper down. She grasped him firmly through his underwear and began to steadily stroke him faltering in her rhythm as she felt his fingers trace the edge of her panties.
She moaned in displeasure when he grasped her hand in his to stop her movements, placing a kiss to her palm before moving to loop it over his shoulder telling her without words to keep it there. She chose to grant him his request, looping both hands around his neck and holding on as she felt him dip his fingers under the band of her underwear. She cried out and her head lolled forward to rest on his shoulder as she felt him swipe a finger down her entrance and back up before stopping to circle her clit.
"So wet sweetheart." He growled and all she could do was whimper in response as her nails raked the length of his back.
He carried on circling her clit with perfect pressure and she was amazed when she felt the tightening in her stomach so soon. He knew her body like he had a map to it. The feeling intensified and she gasped against his shoulder when she felt him slowly circle her opening before plunging one finger inside of her and steadily pumping it in and out while his thumb continued to work on her clit. She felt like she was on fire, engulfed by flames that were certain to burn her alive yet she was happy to let it happen, just cling on to him and let them swallow her whole. Her voice came out in breathless whispers as she begging him.
"Oh god, Robin yes, please don't stop, please."
"I won't baby." He whispered against her ear before proving his point by adding another finger. She bucked against his hand and let out a series of long moans as she clung to his shoulders. The coiled spring in her stomach was pulled tight and she knew it was about to snap she just needed one little push.
He gave it to her by plunging his fingers deeper inside her and curling them, reaching a spot that made the spring snap and stars appear behind her closed eyes. She came hard against his fingers to his soft words of encouragements while she screamed his name. He stroked her gently as she came down from her high, her whole body slumping forward into his arms that were waiting to catch her.
He waited for her to catch her breath before he drew back to look into her dreamy eyes, leaning forward to catch her lips with his in a deep kiss. His hand threaded into her hair as the other reached down to kneed her ass, making her moan into the kiss. He pulled back to look into her eyes before asking her lovingly.
"You ready my love?"
She bit her lip in anticipation as she nodded, sitting back to allow him to stand and remove his jeans and boxers before climbing back on the bed and pulling her back to straddle his lap. She reached for his length and he groaned as she guided it to her entrance. She lifted her hips and sank down upon him fully making them both moan in unison. They kept still for a few moments basking in the feel of being connected as Robin leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers. His voice was a loving caress as he spoke, love shining in his eyes, which she knew he would see mirrored back in her own.
"I want you to always remember this moment Regina. When things get rough and you're missing me as much as I know I'll be missing you. I want you remember this moment and how much I love you, how much I'll always love you. Remember that until I come back to you and tell you again."
A tear slid down her cheek at his words and he lent forward to kiss it away before looking back to her eyes to wait for her answer.
"I will." She chocked back. "I love you too."
He leaned in to kiss her again as he gripped her hips to encourage her to start moving as he rocked forward. Their tongues twisted together and she thrust down to meet his own thrusts. She gasped at the sensation and tore their lips apart so she could throw her head back.
"You feel so good." She gasped out as her hands gripped his shoulders harder.
"So do you sweetheart." He groaned in return "Nothing has ever felt as good as being inside you."
She carried on meeting him thrust for thrust as they both found their rhythm, her breath coming out in shallow gasps. She shifted her hips and cried out in pleasure when it drew him deeper and he hit a spot deep inside her. She buried her face into his neck and darted her tongue out to taste his salty skin. He wrapped one arm around her back to bring her closer to him while the other tangled in her now sweaty hair.
She let out a series of broken moans as she felt him increase his pace, reaching down to grab her ass to assist her movements. She felt the familiar knot in her stomach again getting tighter and tighter with every trust until she felt like she was going to explode. She knew he was close too as his moans became longer and closer together.
"Robin." She gasped out. "I'm so close."
He groaned and grasped her chin in his hand to make her look into his eyes.
"Look at me my love." He whispered breathlessly.
Her eyes locked on his and she almost sobbed at the intense look in them.
"Cum for me sweetheart, Let go, I've got you." He reached down between them to circle her clit and that was all it took to send her over the edge. Her orgasm was intense and it made her sob out his name as she flew apart, shattering into tiny pieces. He came at the same time as her, spilling deep inside her as he chocked out her name like a prayer.
They wrapped their arms around one another her face buried into his shoulder as he buried his into her hair, the only sounds in the room their ragged breathing as they waited for their hearts to slow.
She clung to him like she could stop the inevitable and he let her, his hands coasting soothingly up and down her back because he knew what she was thinking. When he moved to slip out of her she whimpered and clung tighter, silently begging him to keep them connected for a little longer. He granted her request and let himself fall back against the pillows, taking her with him to lay the length of his chest.
The silence remained as they basked in the bitter sweet afterglow of their love making, the harsh inevitability of what came next hanging between them. Once he began to soften inside her he pulled out fully, gently shushing her as she weakly protested. He laid them both on their sides, wrapping his arms around her, tangling their legs and placing a tender kiss on the curve of her shoulder. She sighed sleepily and he leant forward to softly whisper in her ear.
"Sleep baby."
Her voice was full of tears as she whispered back.
"No, because when I wake you will be gone."
He stroked her hair back from her face tenderly and run his nose along the length of her neck.
"It's for the best, I don't want you to see me leave."
A sob left her lips and he squeezed her tighter to him as she tried to fight against the exhaustion, eventually she lost as she cried herself into a fitful sleep. The last thing she heard before being pulled under was his whispered I love you.
...
When she woke she instinctively reached for him only to find nothing but cool sheets.
He was gone.
The tears came thick and fast and only her heartbroken sobs could be heard throughout the bedroom. She wrapped her arms around herself to try and hold together the gaping hole she could feel in her chest.
Through her tear clouded vision she spotted something on the pillow next to her. She reached out to grab the paper, wiping her eyes on the back of her hand so she could see it clearly.
She frowned in confusion when she saw the page of the book Robin had found, she had no idea why why he would have left it there for her, though knowing Robin it was to remind her to have hope. She didn't feel any ounce of hope right now though. And the sight of what could have been mocking her from the page just made her sadder. She was about the let it slip from her fingers when something on the other side caught her eye. She turned it over and her eyes fill with tears as she saw the familiar handwriting of her soulmate on the other side.
As she read the words a sad smile graced her lips and she clutched the page tightly to her chest.
Have faith in us as I have faith in you.
Never give up.
Until we meet again sweetheart.
All my love.
Robin.
