Prompt – Continuation of the Library scene in 4x08.

They broke apart from the kiss and pressed their foreheads together, just breathing each other in and enjoying the closeness. She felt warm and despite what was still looming over her: Marian and the curse, she felt light, like for once in her life everything wasn't weighing down on her shoulders. She guessed that was what hope felt like. She wouldn't know as she had never felt this way before.

She looked down again at the page that Robin had found and smiled. She had missed her chance back then but maybe she could have that life now with the added bonus of their two boy's. She looked to Robin who was also gazing longingly down at the page before lifting his eyes to lock with hers. Her heart stuttered in her chest as he gave her that smile she loved so much, especially when it was directed at her. He lifted his hand to push lock of hair away from her face and spoke in a voice that made her shiver, it was like velvet brushing against her skin.

"So M'lady, tell me this happy ending of yours, what does that entail exactly?"

She laughed lightly at his words and ran her hand down his arm until she could lace their fingers together. It was a loaded question and she tried to make light of it.

"Oh you know what every woman wants shoes, perfect hair, the ability to eat chocolate without gaining weight."

He chuckled at her joke before lifting his hand to stroke his thumb over her cheekbone.

"I'm serious." He told her softly. "What would your happy ending be? What would it look like?"

She bit her lip and cast her eyes down hoping to hide from the huge implications the question held. It was something that she had thought about for so long but never spoke out loud, because for her, it was nothing but a pipe dream and the fear of what it would mean to speak it left her paralysed.

She felt his fingers on her chin as he guided her to look up to meet his eyes, she met his blue ones and felt a swell in her chest at the care and concern she saw in them.

"You don't have to tell me." He told her softly.

She shook her head and ran her hand over his stubbled cheek.

"It's ok." She told him softly. "It's just saying it makes the me more hopeful and somehow I feel like it will hurt more if it doesn't happen."

She tried to drop her eyes again. She felt silly. This was the most open she has ever been with anyone and it unnerved her. He wouldn't let her drop her eyes from him though, keeping a firm grip on her chin he spoke to her firmly.

"You deserve to be happy Regina and if this author does not agree then we will have to convince him together."

He sounded so sure and it was hard not to share his enthusiasm and she wanted to share more with him even though she held so much fear in what speaking it aloud would mean. She took a deep breath before speaking softly.

"Family."

He frowned in confusion but stayed silent and waited for her to continue.

"I've never really felt like I had one. I had a mother and father obviously, but I can't really say they felt like what a family is meant to feel like."

She took another shaky breath in and she took comfort in his touch as he placed his hand on her neck, gently rubbing it in soothing circles. His touch gave her the strength to continue.

"My father was a great man and I loved him dearly. And I know he loved me, just not enough to overcome his fears and stand up for me against my mother."

A tear slid down her cheek and he quickly moved to wipe it away with his thumb continuing to stroke her cheek long after the tear was gone.

"As for my mother," She laughed bitterly before continuing in an equally bitter voice. "Well, life with her was pretty much just about survival, which I wasn't very good at. Because she ended up killing my first love and then selling me off like cattle to the highest bidder."

"Regina." He whispered soothingly while stroking a hand through her hair but she didn't let him continue, once she had started she needed to get it all out.

"My first marriage certainly didn't given me a real family. I was just decoration for the king, young eye candy to build his ego. I was trapped. He ignored me. I was forever living in the shadow of his dead wife yet he ruled me with an iron fist, refusing to let me speak to anyone but him or Snow or even go outside. I came from a controlling mother to a controlling husband. I hated him. But that paled in comparison to how much I hated his daughter: selfish, spoiled brat that fated me to a lifetime of misery because she wanted me to be her new mother."

She looked to him fearfully worried that she had said too much, that she would see shock or even disgust in his eyes. After all he was a father himself, and she had just confessed her hatred for a twelve-year-old girl. It wasn't always a good thing that she felt so comfortable with him. She needn't have worried though, all she could see in his eyes was understanding and she once again thanked the universe for giving her a break long enough to bring this wonderful man into her life. Seeing that he clearly hadn't judged her she felt safe enough to continue.

"Thing's got better once I had Henry, at least for a while. Having someone who loved me unconditionally despite all I had done felt wonderful, my perfect little miracle. But I was lying to him from the start about who I was and the curse and he eventually found out and he hated me, believed I didn't love him so he went looking for Emma. Hearing him tell me he found his `real mom' was by far the most painful moment of my life."

Her last words were chocked out and she lifted her hand to wipe tears away with the back of it. He took the same hand in his and lifted it to his lips to press a kiss on it before speaking softly to her.

"Henry adores you Regina. You may have had your problems in the past but it's all in the open now and he loves you so much."

She gave a small smile through her tears and nodded before speaking.

"I know and I am so happy about that. He's central to my happy ending but he's not a baby anymore and he can't be my everything, it's not fair on him. He's got Emma and The Charmings. Not to mention one day he will have a family of his own. So I need to make my happy ending bigger."

Robin nodded in understanding and squeezed the hand he was still clutching in his, raising his eyebrows in question as he waited for her to continue. She got nervous as she realised he was waiting for her to finish but she was terrified of answering so she just cast her eyes downwards.

"Regina?" She heard him say in question.

She looked to him and sighed deeply, her voice was tired as she asked him.

"What do you want me to say Robin? That when I picture my happy ending you're there? Because you are there. You, me, Henry and Roland, since I met you that is all I can see when I think of my happy ending."

He went to reach for her but she moved back, not feeling strong enough to accept his comfort right now. All this talk of her happy ending has rubbed away at her until she felt raw and she felt one touch from him would break her. Because she knew her perfect happy ending was out of her reach, he and Roland were already someone else's happy ending.

He ignored her though and came closer until he could grasp her shoulders; his voice was firm as he spoke to her.

"And you think that's not my version of a happy ending as well? You know it is Regina."

She shook her head and bit her lip to try and stop the sob she felt bubbling up from her chest to escape from her lips. She took a deep breath to steady herself and her emotions before whispering the two words that shatter her dreams to pieces.

"You're married."

The words hung in the air between them and she tried to move away from him but he held tightly to her shoulders, not allowing her to escape this time. Once she had stopped trying to get away he cupped her cheek tenderly and lifted her face so he could meet her eyes. His voice was firm as he told her.

"I want to be with you, I made a mistake. I let my need to do what I thought was the right thing get in the way of what my heart really wants. It wasn't fair to anyone, you, me, Roland or Marian. But I swear to you as soon as we find a way to wake Marian I'll make it right and we will be together."

She sighed again as she refused to believe his words, nothing has changed and she had to accept that. She shook her head sadly and looked into his eyes. They were so full of sincerity but she couldn't help but think that he was just swept up in the moment and she spoke to tell him so.

"You say that now Robin but what happens when she wakes up and you have to tell the woman you once loved, your wife, that you love another woman. She's your family Robin, and she's Roland's mother. It's that simple."

Frustration clouded his eyes and he shook her slightly by the shoulders to get her attention before lifting his hand to cup her cheek. His voice was firm as he told her.

"You're not hearing me Regina! I'm telling you I want to be with you. I'm not saying it won't be hard to tell Marian but to be with her would be a lie and I won't do that to her. Neither will I curse my son to have two unhappy parents ."

"Rob – " Regina tried to stop his flow of words, but he stopped her.

"No, Regina. Listen to me. You said when you think of your happy ending you see me, you, Roland and Henry, well that's what I see too when I think of my own happy ending."

I tear rolled down her cheek as she took in his words, she felt a glimmer of hope yet she refused to believe in case it was crushed into dust.

"Robin." She pleaded with him, telling him with that one word to stop getting her hopes up. "They're your family. You should be with your family."

"You're my family, Regina." He told her while running his thumb over her cheekbone. "Marian will always be important to me and I'll always look out for her, but I can't be with her anymore, not when I'm in love with someone else. I am completely in love with you, Regina. The only thing I need to know is if you're willing to fight for both of our happy endings like I am."

She looked into his eyes, saw the truth behind his words and the determination he had. She was scared, terrified to put all her hopes into something that may fall apart. But looking at him now, thinking about the life they could have, made her want to fight with him. Maybe the chance would be worth it. With her mind made up she gave him a small smile.

"Let's do this." She whispered.

The smile he gave her in return was blinding and hers became bigger like his happiness was infectious. She let out a small shriek of surprise as she found herself suddenly swept off her feet as he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her into the air. She giggled as she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face into it, inhaling the familiar scent of forest that she now links with comfort and love. He spun her in a small circle as they continued to laugh together and hold each other.

Eventually he set her down so he could look into her eyes hungrily, he kept his hands on her hips, squeezing them gently as she ran her hands up and down his arms. They locked eyes as they both felt the heat rise between them, Regina ran the tip of her tongue over her bottom lip and Robin groaned before threading one hand into her hair to tilt her head back so he could crush his lips onto hers.

She moaned on impact and that gave him the opportunity to sweep his tongue passed her lips to tangle with her own. She stood on her tiptoes so she could bring her lips closer to his and wrapped her arms around her neck, pressing their chests together.

They kissed heatedly for several moments; kissing like they couldn't get enough of each other and in Regina's case she knew she couldn't. She has been with him this morning, just a few hours ago yet she ached for him. It seemed he felt the same and she gasped into his mouth when he suddenly dropped the hand on her hip to grip the back of her knee and hitch her thigh over his hip, pushing his hips forward so she could feel exactly how much he wanted her.

She gripped onto his shoulders as she felt her leg still on the ground shake. She nibbled on his bottom lip and he moaned into her mouth as the hand in her hair tightened so he could tilt her head back to deepen the kiss impossibly further. He lifted her leg higher and guided her to steadily rock against him and she did, moaning as she felt the sparks that shot through her at the feel of him hard and pressed against her core. That along with the feel of his tongue stroking against hers made her knees buckle and she felt herself slipping. He caught her though, his strong arms wrapping around her waist and lifting her up to place her onto the table in front of them without breaking the kiss.

He stepped between her legs and she wrapped them around his waist, pulling him closer to her, he could never get close enough. Somewhere in the back of her mind it registered that they had said they wouldn't do this again and as hard as it was, she found the strength to pull back from the kiss only to let out a whimper when he fastened his lips to the curve of her neck, sucking gently.

"Robin." She gasped out weakly. "We said, oh Mmmm, we said we wouldn't do this again."

"I know." He gasped against her neck as she gripped tightly to the hair at the back of his neck, despite their words they made no move to stop, made more clear when he scraped his teeth over her collarbone making her gasp his name.

His lips descended lower and she shivered when she felt the scrape of his stubble on the top of her breasts before the brush of his warm tongue soothed it. His tongue slipped lower under her shirt and he groaned as she tightened her grip on his hair as her other hand slipped up the back of his shirt so she could caress the bare skin of his back.

He lifted his head to look at her and let out a low growl at what he saw, most likely taking in her flushed cheeks, half lidded eyes and kiss swollen lips. He caught her lips again in a hungry kiss and they once again got caught up in the taste and feel of one another, hands wandered, trying to be everywhere at once as they gasped and moaned into each other's mouths. They had both lost control, forgetting where they were and that at any moment someone could walk in and catch them together, wrapped around each other in a less than decent way for a public place.

"Make me stop." He gasped against her lips pulling back slightly as his hand cupped her neck and caressed it with his fingers.

"I can't." She whispered back. "I don't want you to."

He groaned at her words and caught her lips once more, moving forward to lay her back onto the table, keeping his weight on his forearms as she wrapped her arms around his back as her legs were around his hips.

The kiss was frantic and so were their hands. Hers went to the front of her shirt to unbutton it and his began to inch under her skirt. Need bubbled in her chest as his hand reached the top of her thigh. Despite their resolve earlier to not do this again, the looks of things were bleak. That resolve was quickly crumbling. It was insane, she had never felt such desire for someone before, not to the degree she would not be able to control herself in a public place. But yet here she was pressed to a tabletop with him over her and his hand now moving closer to where she ached for him, nothing was going to stop this.

"Bloody hell."

The disgruntled voice made them spring apart, he jumped to his feet as she quickly sat up and straightened her clothes, her eyes downcast as she felt the heat on her cheeks that now had nothing to do with desire.

"Will." She heard Robin bark out in an annoyed voice.

"Don't blame me mate." Will replayed in a defensive voice. "It's a bloody public library not your bedroom."

Regina finally felt like she had a hold on her embarrassment and raised her eyes to glare at Robin's fellow merry man.

"Don't you have anywhere else to be?"

Will looked at her with an amused look in his eyes before answering her in a teasing tone.

"Killed your buzz did I, your Majesty?"

"Will." Robin bit out in a warning tone.

"Ok, ok. I'm going, I'm going." Will said with a sigh. "Word of advice though you crazy teenagers. Learn to lock a door, I have a feeling if that pretty librarian finds you defiling her books she will unleash a wrath to make yours look like child's play your Majesty."

With one last mocking chuckle, Will left leaving the two red faced lovers smiling and giggling like they were indeed crazy teenagers.
