As the Les Amis gathered at lunch, most noticed how angered their leader was. Meaningless chatter about schoolwork and women broke out through the group. However, once everyone was seated, Grantaire spoke out and silenced the chatter.

"Chief, what's wrong?"

"I asked Eponine this morning", the marble man responded briefly looking up from his history textbook. Deming that his friends were not as important as the French Revolution he was reading about, he returned to the book.

"What did she say?", Combeferre, his best friend, asked timidly.

"No."

"No?"

"She said no", Enjolras explain, not looking up from his book.

The group responded with several "What?"s, "No way"s, and "No?"s. Out of nowhere, though, Grantaire started laughing. Everyone looked at him like he was insane, and god knows what all the alcohol had done to his brain.

"What's so funny Grantaire?", Enjolras asked, finally looking up from the text, angry glare in place. He didn't like being laughed at. Yes, Enjolras had an ego, and it was seriously injured when the invisible sophomore said no to him. It was even more wounded when his friend started laughing at him

"You," Grantaire said gasping for air from his fit of giggles. "You thought you could just walk up to her and ask? Ha!" The drunk was now wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. From the looks he received from his friends, he figured he should continue explaining. "You need to woo her and prove to her you're worth it. She is artistic, right Marius? Marius?" Looking around, the group notice Marius was missing. "Where the hell is Marius?"

Coufeyrac looked around the cafeteria, not finding Marius. However, he did notice a certain sophomore walking nearby.

"Hey Eponine", he called. He felt the glare Enjolras sent him and heard the giggling from Grantaire.

"Hello", she responds timidly approaching where the boys sat. Coufeyrac noticed the smudges of what he assumed was charcoal on her face and paint on her arms. Coufeyrac was also an art student. He had noticed that Eponine was taking several advanced classes with him and that she was an amazing artist. His teachers often used her work as an example in class.

When she was close enough, Bosset threw his hand toward her face for a high five, which he did to most new people he met. Surely, Enjolras thought, he couldn't be the only to see her flinch.

"We heard you turned down Apollo over here", Grantaire said with a grin that would make Cheshire proud.

"If he is Apollo, he should be use to rejection", Eponine responded, earning a collective laugh from the group, minus Enjolras of course.

"Oh, mythological burn", Grantaire said. "I like her, Enjy. She's a keeper."

"He'd have to get before he could keep me", Eponine said with a hint of anger. "Nice meeting you all", she said before turning around and stomping out of the cafeteria.

"What the hell 'Fey?", Enjolras asked angrily to the boy sitting to his left.

"What? I thought that since you'll be asking her out again, we should get to know her", he explained motioning toward the rest of the Amis. They all nodded in agreement then returned to eating their lunches.

A/N: Hey guys. So I've been on a school-induced hiatus, since I'm drowning in work. BUT I found this (which I wrote months ago but didn't publish) and thought I put it up. I only have a couple more weeks than school takes a summer break, so hopefully I'll publish more then. Thanks guys! ~zerohero4376
