Sorry I keep delaying these chapters! SOL tests and crazy school stuff like that hold me back from writing.
UPDATE: I got a Wattpad because my friend convinced me. The username is fluttercordforever, and I will post updates on my fanfiction on there as well. I thought it would be easier because they have an app, so you can check that instead of going on your laptop to read my fics. Please check it out (and drop me a follow?) if you want to! Thanks!
When Celestia walked in the castle dragging Discord behind her, King Cosmos wasn't too happy.
"WHAT IS THAT CREATURE DOING IN MY CASTLE?!" he bellowed, his horn lighting in fury.
Celestia stared at his burnt hoof for a split second, then lit her own horn, protecting Discord from her father's rage.
"Father, STOP!" she yelled, surprising him. "Discord is MY FRIEND, and he's staying whether YOU like it OR NOT!"
Behind her, Discord stared at the two alicorns in fear, his red eyes wide.
The king had very little patience left. He flew above Celestia's defenses and blasted both her and Discord with a midnight blue beam of power.
In terror, Discord wrapped his long body around Celestia, who squeaked in protest.
As the bolt of energy soared towards them, Queen Galaxia came into the room, just as the blast from the king's horn hit them.
A storm of blue lightning and smoke arose from the spot that Discord and Celestia were, and the queen finally realized what was going on.
She lit her horn in desperation and ran towards the azure fog, but it had already cleared, revealing a shimmering, translucent, pink bubble with Discord and Celestia inside.
The aura from the queen's horn faded as she saw them unharmed. Suddenly, she whirled around to face the king behind her.
"WHAT. DID. YOU. DO?!" she screamed in fury.
King Cosmos shook his head, then stared at his wife with a puzzled expression.
"W-what hap-pened?"
Queen Galaxia was about to angrily reply when she heard a groan from where Discord and Celestia were.
Discord removed himself from Celestia and flopped on the ground, while Celestia coughed and retched on the ground.
As they broke apart, the pink bubble surrounding them flickered, then disappeared.
Celestia turned her head after her coughing spout to look at Discord, but he did not return her gaze.
The young alicorn stood up frantically to reach him, but her legs buckled under her, and she cried out in pain.
The queen raced over to her, just as Luna and Cadence burst into the room.
"What's going on?!" they shouted in unison.
Celestia finally managed to reach Discord, and noticed a large gash in his side. What alarmed her the most, though, was that the wound was leaking purple blood and smoking.
The queen reached the pair, saw the wound on the draconequus' side, and gasped in horror.
"This is the work of dark magic! But Cosmos isn't a wielder of dark magic… who caused this?"
The king was starting to regain his memory of the recent events, and stared at his hooves.
Suddenly, he spoke, shocking the queen, young princesses, and barely conscious draconequus.
"I was just so furious at Discord, and I had to find a way to rid the world of every draconequus, and there wasn't a way with light magic, I-i-i" his voice trailed off.
"Cosmos, what did you do?" the queen asked, obviously annoyed.
"I tried to learn dark magic… and it took over… I used the last of it on that bolt"
"When did this start, father?" Cadence cried, surprising the ponies again. "How long have you been like this?"
The king sighed again.
"Since he first arrived…" he replied, pointing a shaky hoof towards Discord, who was groaning and trying to sit up.
The draconequus looked at the destroyed dining room and winced.
"W-what happened?"
The king hid his gaze from him, ashamed of what he had done.
Celestia was trying to contain her despair, but seeing Discord awake set her off, and she threw herself down and sobbed on the chilly marble floors, gasping and choking.
The king tried to comfort her, but she sprang up and glared at her father.
"HOW COULD YOU?!" she shouted, tears streaming from her eyes. "YOU ALMOST KILLED BOTH OF US!"
The king tried to speak, but Celestia cut him off with uncontrolled sobbing.
The king stumbled back, staring at his hooves with a horrified expression.
The queen moved to comfort her daughter, but she teleported herself and Discord out of the castle and into the garden.
When they were out of the castle, Discord stood up and looked at Celestia in confusion, who was still crying.
"What was that about?"
The young princess looked at her friend in sorrow, her eyes shining. She tried to speak, but no words came out as her sadness took over.
Discord suddenly grasped what was going on.
"Your father said something about dark magic, and that it was used up on that...whatever it was. Is that… why?"
Celestia took a deep breath, dried her eyes, and nodded her head.
As midnight settled over the garden, Discord couldn't help but notice how her light pink hair, framed her face perfectly, and how the moonlight shone on her, capturing the angles of her face and the drying tears near her muzzle.
He felt a strange feeling in his chest, and shook his head in confusion. What's wrong with me? , he said in his mind. She's just another pony….
Celestia kept thinking over and over in her head, It's my fault...it's my fault...all my fault.
If she never let Discord stay, then her father wouldn't be influenced by dark magic, her mother wouldn't be so shattered, and her family wouldn't be falling apart.
No, she told herself firmly. My father put dark magic in himself, you didn't do that to him.
She looked over at Discord, who had turned his head to the rising moon. The pale light shone on his face, weaving itself through his short mop of white hair. Before a few days ago, she had never seen a creature quite like him, or even knew they existed. She suddenly found it hard to pull her gaze away from him.
Discord looked towards Celestia suddenly, and noticed her staring at him. Embarrassed, Celestia tore her gaze away from him, her cheeks hot.
The draconequus snapped his fingers and summoned a towel, wiping his face nervously.
"Is is hot outside, or is it just me?"
The alicorn looked at him in confusion. The night was frigid cold, causing goosebumps to rise on her legs. Then she laughed at his silly thought.
"It's just you", she said through her giggling.
Discord laughed with her, but more nervous than usual.
Suddenly, they locked eyes, and both stopped laughing as the rest of the world melted away around them.
They moved closer in a daze, two souls together in the void of reality. When their lips were inches away, Discord hesitated for a split second.
Suddenly, a supernova exploded between them as Celestia pressed her mouth to his. He closed his eyes, and together, they let it wash over them like a strong ocean wave.
It seemed like an eternity before they pulled away from each other, but they finally broke apart. Discord looked at the alicorn with a look of confusion.
"Why me? You could have chosen a normal stallion, but you chose me, a draconequus. The most mixed creature in existence over somepony ordinary. Why?"
Celestia stared at him with a gaze of pure love.
"I guess I'm not normal, then."
Before she could look up, Discord put her face in his lion paw, his eyes shining. Slowly, he brought her face to his and kissed her, not hard and longing like the last, but soft and sweet.
They broke apart again, and Celestia rested her head on his chest. She spoke, this time sad and wistful.
"We can't tell anyone about this, you know. They'd never understand true interspecies love, no one does. No pony, or other species, whether in heaven or hell, living or dead, could. No pony but the lovers themselves."
Discord sighed with the same wistful tone she used.
"I know...I know"
