Airachnid stood in front of a small quaint store with her helm tilted slightly. Her lips were parted somewhat.
In front of her the shop sign read. "Backlash Armor wares."
"W-what?" Asked Airachnid in a slight shaky voice.
"We're going to pick up your new armor." Said Tailgate with a smile as he walked into the small doorway into the shop.
"Pick..." Started Airachnid before looking back at Tailgate's retrieving form.
"W-wait a second!" Said Airachnid a bit loudly as she followed him inside, placing the containers just inside, beside the door. Retracting her spider legs into her back once more. She winced as she felt the sting of Overrev's previous inflicted injury.
"What do you mean…pick up?" She asked as she stood next to him.
A loud ping of a hammer was heard from a door behind the counter since they entered. Accompanied by smaller pings, both coming from the same place in a room behind the counter.
Tailgate grinned. "Exactly what I said."
The noises both stopped.
Some muffled speech followed.
"I think someone's here." Said a voice. Male.
"Well than get off your lazy aft and attend to them….When are you going to put in that doorbell?" Said another voice. Female.
"Oh Primus not this again, don't overheat you old barge I'm getting there." Said the male voice again.
Airachnid looked on with curiosity at the door behind the counter. Tailgate chuckled.
"Don't pass out back there." Said Tailgate. "It's only me."
"Ziebat!" Yelled Sylvania in excitement, arms stretched out in excitement.
The door opened and out stepped an old mech. "Sylvy! Oh how nice to see you." Laughed the mech as he set down the small hammer and picked her up from Tailgate's shoulders.
Ziebart was his name. He was a fairly skinny mech, slightly taller than Bumblebee but also older.
His color scheme is Blue and Dark grey.
"Sylvania's there?" Asked the female voice.
Suddenly and older looking femme stepped out of the room and placed a massive sledgehammer down next to the door as she walked over to the group.
"With more reason to pass out!" Spoke the older femme with excitement.
"I don't get it Backlash…" Said Tailgate chuckling. "…should I take that as a compliment?"
"You know me dear..." Said the femme Backlash, swatting Tailgate's shoulder as she watched Sylvania being bounced in the air by Ziebart.
Backlash, unlike Ziebart is very 'muscular' for a femme and quite a bit taller, she's a bit older than Ziebart as well.
Her Color scheme is Bright green and Black.
"How is she doing?" Asked Backlash as she looked at Sylvania bouncing in the air by Ziebart's tosses.
"A lot better." Responded Tailgate. "She's no longer timid. Even with our new gues-"
Backlash raised a servo to silence Tailgate as she looked over at Airachnid.
"Speaking of which." She said as she glanced back at Tailgate. "Why haven't you introduced us to your friend?"
Airachnid who was browsing the shelves suddenly stood up straight and looked over at the small group before blinking a couple of times, realizing they were now talking about her.
"Uhhh…" Began Tailgate. "…kinda got caught up in the moment I guess." He grinned sheepishly.
"Well I'd be nice if she could join us in that 'caught up' moment wouldn't you think?" Winked Backlash.
Airachnid's optics widened. As did Tailgate's before blushing.
Ziebart walked over to the trio with Sylvania in his arms and Downpipe at his feet. "Her armor is ready by the way." He said as he looked at Airachnid's optics briefly.
"A-armor for me?" Airachnid was stunned once again with this revelation. Nothing like this has ever happened to her and she still couldn't get used to it.
Her very own armor. Wow.
Tailgate looked over at Ziebart as he in turn put Sylvania on the ground, Downpipe wincing from the frame crushing hug he got from her.
"How did you know it was for her?" Asked Tailgate.
"Please…" Deadpanned Ziebart. "We've been doing this for far too long. We can look at the wearer's frame and tell you straight off what the size will be. And your friend…"
He turned to look at Airachnid, who was now looking around slightly uncomfortably.
"…Meets the requirements for the armor we've been making."
Backlash closed her optics and nodded affirmatively with her optics closed.
Ziebart walked over to Tailgate with a grin on his face and pulled him around close. Their backs facing everyone.
"So….how did you manage to get her frame size?" Asked Ziebart, waggling his optic brows with a giant grin.
Tailgate's faceplates heated up considerably before he heard a smack beside him. He looked to see the servo of Backlash above a small dent in Ziebart's helm.
"AHHHH…What did I do?!" Groaned Ziebart.
Backlash's optics were closed and twitching with frustration. As was her mouth before speaking.
"My servo slipped… and besides" She crossed her arms and tilted her helm as she stared at Ziebart.
"….It's rude to turn your back to a guest. ZIEBART." Said Backlash, voice filled with menacing ire at the mention of his name.
Ziebart only shrugged. "Just curiou-"
"-The doctor did it." Interrupted Tailgate, "When she was being checked over by the doctor, he told me that her armor was about to become dead weight."
Backlash and Ziebart glanced over at Airachnid, who was now helping Sylvania up as she tried to grab onto one of her spider legs.
"…I see what he meant." Muttered Backlash. "But unfortunately…" She spoke up louder now, gaining the attention of everyone. "The armor isn't ready yet."
"Wait…" Started Tailgate before blinking. "Wait what?"
"Change of plans." Said Ziebart as he walked behind Airachnid, examining her back. Downpipe next to her and Sylvania firmly latched onto her pede.
"What's the problem?" Asked Tailgate as he looked as well. Airachnid closing her optics with a small blush, getting a bit uncomfortable at so many optics on her.
"You never told us about these legs that can come out of her back." Said Backlash, before Ziebart continued.
"The armor we made will have to be modified in order for her to use these legs at all." He said crossing his servos.
Tailgate sighed. "Okay, I see what you mean." His optics downcast.
Backlash smirked before approaching Tailgate. "Don't worry, it should be ready in a day." She winked, squeezing his shoulder.
Airachnid felt a shot of….something go through her when Backlash grabbed him and….winked. She never felt this before but….it wasn't pleasant. She didn't like it.
"Airachnid?"
Airachnid blinked and looked at Tailgate, his optics curious. "You okay?" He asked. "You looked mad about something."
Airachnid's optics widened a fraction. 'I looked angry?' She thought.
"If it's about the armor, don't worry, we'll come back tomorrow." He said as he picked up some of the items by the door. "See you guys later than." Said Tailgate.
"Yeah, later." Responded Backlash with a wave.
"I'll let you know when it's ready." Spoke up Ziebart.
Airachnid rung her digits slightly as she looked at a spot on the floor before walking over to the rest of the items that lay next to the entrance. Tailgate and Airachnid stepped out of the little shop into the semi busy walkway.
Something stopped her however. A weight on her leg.
She looked down and saw Sylvania still latched onto her leg, right below the kneejoint on her calf.
Airachnid lifted her leg with major flexibility so her calf was right in front of her face, this causing Sylvania to giggle at the sudden 'ride' she was given.
"Are….you okay?" Asked Airachnid hesitantly. She was never…..sociable, especially at Sparklings.
Her intimidating appearance usually made them cry.
It, however, was a complete 180 With Sylvania. She was more curious than anything.
"Uh-huh." Nodded Sylvania with a smile before burying her faceplates into Airachnid's calf again, squeezing harder.
Airachnid looked over at Tailgate with a facial expression of 'what should I do?'
Tailgate just looked at them with crossed arms and a tilted helm, his faceplates with an amused 'see what you can do' expression.
Airachnid inwardly groaned. She DIDN'T know what to do.
"U-uhh…" She started. Downpipe looking up at her while seated on the ground.
"Sylvania, wanna ride on my shoulders?" She asked, with slight hesitance.
She never imagined she'd ask such a question.
Never mind that. She'd never imagined being in this situation at all.
"It's better down here." Responded Sylvania. "It's so much fun when you move your leg." She said with a giggle.
Airachnid sighed with a small smile. "I-if you ride on my shoulders…" She quickly looked over at Tailgate, his expression still the same.
Airachnid sighed inwardly before continuing. "…you can have One Grease brownie."
Sylviania was climbing up to Airachnid's shoulders so quickly, that it startled her on how sudden she began her movement up there.
Airachnid helped her reach her destination before Sylvania plopped down on her shoulders and said…
"ONWARD." With a beaming expression on her faceplates.
Tailgate scoffed with amusement before laughing. "Let's go home before it gets too late." He said with a smile, looking at Airachnid's optics.
Airachnid felt a shot of….something go through her when he looked at her and smiled. She never felt this before but….it was pleasant. She liked it.
She released her lower spider legs and picked up the items she was carrying before she gently held onto Sylvania's pedes and started following Tailgate. One word going through her mind.
Home….
…
Back at the Autobot base.
Arcee stared at the screen…motionless.
Was that Cybertronian…..really Airachnid?
THAT…was the question on her mind.
Jack walked up to Arcee, putting a servo on her shoulder.
Arcee jumped slightly at the sudden contact and looked up at Jack with big confused optics.
Jack in returned smiled. "You see?" He said before looking up at the screen. "She wasn't a bed person." He simply said.
Arcee blinked in slight realization before looking at the ground with a thoughtful expression.
Burial: In McDonalds
"Than what changed?" Asked Arcee suddenly. "What happened Jack?" She asked, turning to face him.
Jack's smile instantly went away.
"You went to the well of the All Sparks, you saw what happened, and you met everyone."
Jack released his servo from Arcee's shoulder, his optics darkening slightly.
Arcee tilted her helm in concern. Every bot and person was now looking at Jack.
Waiting for an answer.
Jack, without another word, turned around and went towards the corridor leading to his room.
"Jack?" Asked Optimus. "Are you allri-"
"I didn't hear what happened in the well." He said, his servos trembling.
"I…I….."
Jack suddenly raised his servo and punched the wall next to the door. Leaving a sizable crater in the wall
This startled almost everyone in the room. Except for Optimus….and Ratchet.
The latter who knew what was going to happen. Because Jack told him in his first night at the base. He groaned and turned back around, resting his servos on the workstation in front of him.
Jack than opened the door and walked through before he spoke, lowly voiced, with clenched denta.
"I saw it happen."
And with that the door closed behind him.
